  • Change paper size in the middle of a latex document?

    - by Usagi
Does anyone know how to change these length parameters in the middle of a latex document? \paperwidth \paperheight I would like to define a page size for a single page (possibly two or three). I tried v5.3 of the geometry package, which just added some new features; like \newgeometry. Unfortunately \newgeometry cannot be used to redefine \paperheight and \paperwidth. Any help would be very appreciated.

  • Where is the VB.Net debugger "Make Object ID" function?

    - by Josh
When using the visual studio 2008 debugger with c# i can right-click on a variable and choose "Make Object ID" which allows me to watch that object (via it's ID) regardless of whether it is in the current stack frame or not. When the debugger is in VB code, (doesnt matter if it's run from a c# unit test or a vb unit test) That option isn't there. Where did VB put this feature? Or does it simply not support it like so many other helpful c# features?

  • Why should I be using testing frameworks in PHP?

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I have recently heard a lot of people argue about using PHP testing features like PHPunit and SimpleTest together with their IDE of choice (Eclipse for me). After googling the subject, I have still a hard time understanding the pros and cons of using these testing frameworks to speed up development. If anyone could explain this for me in a more basic level, I would really appreciate it. I am using PHP5 for the notice. Thanks a lot!

  • OpenMP implementations in VC++ 2008, 2010

    - by John
Depending on implementation, OMP can be quite useful to parallelize fairly arbitrary bits of code - e.g a parallel section inside a method that calls two independent methods - or it can be bad. It depends on how threads are created/cached, I think. How does the VC++ 2008 implementation work? And is the 2010 implementation significantly different in terms of features and performance/flexibility?

  • Configuration file for PHP server script

    - by teehoo
Right now I have a very high volume of requests coming to my webserver which execute a PHP CGI script. Every one of these scripts opens up a config file that I have created to load options of how the script should run. Doing a file I/O operation everytime a request comes in seems very resource intensive to me. I'm not too familiar with the advanced features of PHP, are there any alternatives to achieve what I'm doing?

  • What is a "context bound"?

    - by Jesper
One of the new features of Scala 2.8 are context bounds. What is a context bound and where is it useful? Of course I searched first (and found for example this) but I couldn't find any really clear and detailed information.

  • Why does Go compile quickly?

    - by Evan Kroske
I've Googled and poked around the Go website, but I can't seem to find an explanation for Go's extraordinary build times. Are they products of the language features (or lack thereof), a highly optimized compiler, or something else? I'm not trying to promote Go; I'm just curious.

  • ASP .Net User Roles - ordering for a drop down.

    - by ilivewithian
We are using the standard aspnet security features, we have need to set the order of the roles, purely for display purposes. We could just have a sequence number onto the end of the aspnet_roles table, but that feels kinds of hacky to me. Also if in future versions of asp the security get changed we will be in trouble. Is there a better way to do this that won't make me loose sleep each time a new version is pushed out?

  • C++ MIDI file reading library

    - by Raceimaztion
I'm trying to write some software to read a MIDI file into an internal data format and use it to control 3D simulated instruments. My biggest problem is reading the MIDI data in from a file, and I'd like to avoid writing all the import code. Does anyone know of a free (preferably Open Source), cross-platform MIDI file reading library? What features does it have? Can it import other note-based music formats?

  • Dll in both the bin and the gac, which one gets used?

    - by John Boker
We have a web application that's deployed to many websites with only frontend changes, the shared backend portion has it's DLL in the GAC so we only have to update that one dll and all the sites get the update. Is there a way to override the GAC with a DLL in the /bin folder to test out new features before they get released?

  • Microsoft C++ Language Reference

    - by eSKay
Whenever any question is asked, and a reference text is needed, I never see MSDN C++ Language Reference being referred. I was browsing through it and I personally feel that it is extremely well written. Is there some specific reason it is not used as often as a standard? Is it because it contains some VC++ specific features?

  • Problems Installing Eclipse and Ruby Plugin

    - by Jesse J
I installed Eclipse on my Ubuntu machine and then the Ruby Development Tools (RDT), but it would crash when I try to alter certain features, like having line numbers, how far back to have history, and the code coloring scheme didn't work fully. I decided to try to uninstall Eclipse by doing sudo aptitude remove Eclipse and then sudo aptitude install eclipse but instead it installed it back with the broken Ruby plugin. I also tried aptitude purge but that didn't help either. How can I freshly reinstall Eclipse and get a properly working Ruby plugin?

  • Accelerometer data analysis

    - by jrrt
Hello, I would like to know if there are some libraries/algorithms/techniques (python, if at all possible) that help to extract features from accelerometer data (extracted from and android phone, btw), like periodicity of movements, energy of acceleration and the like. Has anyone done this kind of task before? Thank you very much in advance :)

  • How to make floating frames with wx.aui.AuiManager be proper windows

    - by jhaukur
Hello all I'm using wxPython. I'm trying to figure out how I can change the behavior of the wx.aui.AuiManager so that when a window is dragged to become floating, it will become a proper window with Minimize and Maximize buttons and shown in the Taskbar. Apparently there is some subclassing done of the standard window to remove those exact features but I'm not having any luck in getting them back.

  • php zencart mod - having problems with attributes array

    - by user80151
I inherited a zencart mod and can't figure out what's wrong. The customer selects a product and an attribute (model#). This is then sent to another form that they complete. When they submit the form, the product and the attribute should be included in the email sent. At this time, only the product is coming through. The attribute just says "array." The interesting part is, when I delete the line that prints the attribute, the products_options_names will print out. So I know that both the product and the products_options_names are working. The attribute is the only thing that is not working right. Here's what I believe to be the significant code. This is the page that has the form, so the attribute should already be passed to the form. //Begin Adding of New features //$productsimage = $product['productsImage']; $productsname = $product['productsName']; $attributes = $product['attributes']; $products_options_name = $value['products_options_name']; $arr_product_list[] = "<strong>Product Name:</strong> $productsname <br />"; $arr_product_list[] .= "<strong>Attributes:</strong> $attributes <br />"; $arr_product_list[] .= "<strong>Products Options Name:</strong> $products_options_name <br />"; $arr_product_list[] .= "---------------------------------------------------------------"; //End Adding of New features } // end foreach ($productArray as $product) ?> Above this, there is another section that has attributes: <?php echo $product['attributeHiddenField']; if (isset($product['attributes']) && is_array($product['attributes'])) { echo '<div class="cartAttribsList">'; echo '<ul>'; reset($product['attributes']); foreach ($product['attributes'] as $option => $value) { ?> Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong? I'm not sure if the problem is on this page or if the attribute isn't being passed to this page. TIA
