    Hello! I want to create a traffic simulator like here: http://www.doobybrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/traffic-simulation.gif But I didn't thougt very deep about this. I would create the class car. Every car has his own color, position and so on. And I could create the road with an array. But how to tell the car where to go? Could I hear your ideas? EDIT: Is it forbidden to get new ideas from good programmers? Why do some people want to close this thread? Or were to ask such questions? I dont understand them. :(

    I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder template for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IQueryable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. So, I'd like to replace var items = (IQueryable<TestProj.ViewModels.TestViewModel>)Model; with var items = (IQueryable<T>)Model; or something to that effect. A property Html is automatically created for me when the view is created, but this HtmlHelper applies to the whole collection. I need to somehow create an itemHtml object that applies just to the current item in the foreach loop. I'm not sure how to do this, however, because the constructors for HtmlHelper don't take a Model object. How do I solve these two problems?

    I am creating a e-learning application , where the students (wireless) connect to the teachers machine, the teacher hosts a tomcat server. the teacher has a set of HTML web-pages(each of which can be thought of as a slide). and the students can view a web slide-show on his/her browser... the problem is.... i want the pages on the students browser to be redirected according to the teachers input.. in short: i want the server to automatically redirect all the client browsers to the next page when the teacher wants it to be so... how do i do it?? [i am using JSP/javascript/Java/Tomcat/Eclipse]

  • Display an Image using C# in Web Application

    Hello again, I have a Web Application that I built a C# class in that generates a Report. This report takes nearly 40 seconds to generate because it searches hundreds of folders for certain files. So I was hoping there was a way to display a "Loading.." icon as this report is generating. I have a gif stored in my Images folder that would be perfect. The research that I've done at this point mostly talks about picturebox's and image controls that can hold the image but I was hoping there was just a way of displaying the image above the report while its being created. The Web Application is from a Web ADF Geocortex website and again I created a C# class that generates this report.     Hello, I want to do a ranking grid. I have a table with different values indexed by a key: Table SimpleValue : key varchar, value int, playerId int I have a player which have several SimpleValue. Table Player: id int, nickname varchar Now imagine these records: SimpleValue: Key value playerId for 1 1 int 2 1 agi 2 1 lvl 5 1 for 6 2 int 3 2 agi 1 2 lvl 4 2 Player: id nickname 1 Bob 2 John I want to display a rank of these players on various SimpleValue. Something like: nickname for lvl Bob 1 5 John 6 4 For the moment I generate an sql query based on which SimpleValue key you want to display and on which SimpleValue key you want to order players. eg: I want to display 'lvl' and 'for' of each player and order them on the 'lvl' The generated query is: SELECT p.nickname as nickname, v1.value as lvl, v2.value as for FROM Player p LEFT OUTER JOIN SimpleValue v1 ON p.id=v1.playerId and v1.key = 'lvl' LEFT OUTER JOIN SimpleValue v2 ON p.id=v2.playerId and v2.key = 'for' ORDER BY v1.value This query runs perfectly. BUT if I want to display 10 different values, it generates 10 'left outer join'. Is there a way to simplify this query ? I've got a second question: Is there a way to display a portion of this ranking. Imagine I've 1000 players and I want to display TOP 10, I use the LIMIT keyword. Now I want to display the rank of the player Bob which is 326/1000 and I want to display 5 rank player above and below (so from 321 to 331 position). How can I achieve it ? thanks.

  • Postback problem downloading zip file

    I've got a problem on a webforms application where a user selects some criteria from dropdowns on the page and hits a button on the page which calls this method: protected void btnSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) They then click on button to download a zip file based on the criteria which calls this method: protected void btnDownload_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) In IE, they are prompted with the bar at the top of the browser that tells them "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer". When they click on that bar to download the file, it fires the btnSearch_Click event again. Response.ContentType and Response.AddHeader has been set up correctly. The problem is, that btnSearch appends criteria so basically it is being appended twice and causing problems. Is there something I can do to prevent this? This is a vs2008 web app using c# 3.5 for what it's worth. Thanks!

    I'm trying to retrieve data from a php file named return that just contains <?php echo 'here is a string'; ?> I'm doing this through an html file containing <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.min.js"></script> <script> var x; $.get("return.php", function(data){ x = data; }) function showAlert() {alert(x);} $(document).ready(function(){ alert(x); }); </script> </head> <body> <input type = "button" value = "Click here" onClick="showAlert();"> </body> </html> When the button is clicked it retrieves and displays the code fine, but on the $(document).ready thing, it displays "undefined" instead of the data in return.php. Any solutions? Thanks.

    Hi, I know theres hundred of questions and answers out there, but cant find one to specifically answer this. I need a web editor that will let me choose a dark themed editor. I understand gvim is one, but im not totally ready to let go of my mouse. I would like something like sublime text editor for windows, but open to other suggestions. The less bloat the best. I dont need a full IDE like eclipse, but willing to compromise, as long as the themes can easily be added. I've tried bluefish, kompozer and not happy with them. Just need a basic text editor that will highlight php syntax on a dark background.

    Hello, We are at a stage where we are considering different Web UI frameworks (most likely component based ones such as GWT, JSF, Wicket, Vaadin, etc). One of the main use cases / constraints is that it must support generating dynamic pages. I.e., the page/form layout and components is stored in a database and is changeable at runtime, and from this pages are generated. We are also going to write static layouts, but that is not the main focus of this question. I thought maybe the user community here can share experiences of different frameworks in this context. Are there differences in ease of implementation and what is suitable?

  • Most efficient way to save tile data of an isometric game

    Hello, I'm working on an isometric game for fast browsers that support <canvas>, which is great fun. To save information of each tile, I use a two-dimensional array which contains numbers representing a tile ID, like: var level = [[1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 0], [0, 1, 1, 2, 0, 1], [0, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1]]; var tiles = [ {name: 'grass', color: 'green'}, {name: 'water', color: 'blue'}, {name: 'forest', color: 'ForestGreen'} ]; So far it works great, but now I want to work with heights and slopes like in this picture: For each tile I need to save it's tile ID, height and information about which corners are turned upward. I came up with a simple idea about a bitwise representation of all four corners, like this: 1011 // top, bottom and left corner turned up My question is: what is the most efficient way to save these three values for each cell? Is it possible to save these three values as one integer?
