Mobile broadband fails to connect. Somehow on Internet I found scripts to connect to Internet, but now only browser can access it, Ubuntu Software center does not recognize this connection and when try to install any software it doesnt display active internet connection. I am using two chatscript & connection in /etc/ppp/peers & /etc/ppp respectively.

Make your networked-toaster burn your bread 10,000 miles away, over the Web for grins and giggles. Well, apparently the Black Hatters say it can be done pretty easily these days, which is scary. The challenges associated with developing securely in these languages have been fought for nearly two decades. "You often hear people say, 'Well, why don't we just get rid of the C and C++ language if it's so problematic. Why don't we just write everything in C# or Java, or something that is a little safer to develop in?'," DeMott says. Gah! Why are all these IoT devices still using C/C++?   • Clean MVC design when there is viewer latency

    It isn't clear if this question has already been answered, so apologies in advance if this is a duplicate : I am implementing a game and trying to design around a clean MVC pattern - so my Control plane will implement the rules of the game (but not how the game is displayed), and the View plane implements how the game is displayed, and user iteraction - i.e. what game items or controls the user has activated. The challenge that I have is this : In my game the Control Plane can move game items more or less instaneously (The decision about what item to place where - and some of the initial consequences of that placement are reasonably trivial to calculate), but I want to design the Control Plane so that the View plane can display these movements either instaneously or using movement animations. The other complication is that player interaction must be locked out while those game items are moving (similar to chess - you can't attack an opposing piece as it moves past one of your pieces) So do I : Implement all the logic in the Control Plane asynchronously - and separate the descision making from the actions - so the Control plane decides piece 'A' needs to move to a given place - tells the view plane, and but does not implement the move in data until the view plane informs the control plane that the move/animation is complete. A lot of interlock points between the two layers. Implement all the control plane logic in one place - decisions and movement (keeping track of what moved where), and pass all the movements in one go to the View plane to do with what it will. Control Plane is almost fire and forget here. A hybrid of 1 & 2 - The control plane implements all the moves in a temporary data store - but maintains a second store which reflects what is actually visible to the viewer, based on calls and feedback from the View plane. All 3 are relatively easy to implement (target language is python), but having never done a clean MVC pattern with view latency before - I am not sure which design is best

  • How to manage many mobile device users at server side?

    I built a social Android application in which users can see other users around them by GPS location. At the beginning thing went well as I had low number of users, but now that I have increasing number of users (about 1500 +100 every day) it has revealed a major problem in my design. In my Google App Engine servlet I have static HashMap that holds all the users profiles objects, currently 1500 and this number will increase as more users register. Why I'm doing it? Every user that requests for the users around him compares his GPS with other users and checks if they are in his 10km radius. This happens every five minutes on average. Consequently, I can't get the users from db every time because GAE read/write operation quota will tear me apart. The problem with this design is? As the number of users increases, the Hashmap turns to null every 4-6 hours, I think that this time is getting shorter, but I'm not sure. I'm fixing this by reloading the users from the db every time I detect that it becomes null, but this causes DOS to my users for 30 sec, so I'm looking for better solution. I'm guessing that it happens because the size of the hashmap. Am I right? I have been advised to use a spatial database, but that means that I can't work with GAE any more and it means that I need to build my big server all over again and lose my existing DB. Is there something I can do with the existing tools? Thanks.

    I'm trying to install Ubuntu touch to a nexus 4. I've followed all the steps so far, downloaded the packages and gotten the phone ready, but now I got to the step of connecting it to the computer [under 'Enable USB Debugging'], but it's not listed when I try $ adb devices (I tried the 'adb kill-server' command first too, but nothing is listed). I'm sure it's something simple I'm forgetting, but can anyone help please? I have debugging enabled. Running Trusty in VirtualBox on MacBook. Thanks!

  • Windows Phone 8 detected as mass storage

    From version 8 onwards Windows Phone supports MTP (media transfer protocol) to transfer audio and I thought I could use Rhythmbox to upload music onto my device. Thing is Rhythmbox doesn't display the device under Devices pane (there's no Device pane for that matter). I searched other questions here and tried out installing mtp-tools, mtpfs and also tried gMTP, which doesn't seem to detect the device as a portable player. I see that the device's icon looks like a Camera in dash bar and when I see the address location, it shows gphoto2://[usb:002,013]/, which makes me doubt that it's detected as a camera or as a mass storage device. /.gvfs/gphoto2 mount on usb%3A002,003 is where the actual mount is. What do I do to fix this? I tried creating .is_audio_player too.

Initially, I'll be targeting iPhone and Facebook, but would like to expand the rollout to include Android (and possibly Windows Phone) in a future phase. Flash and Unity seem to be the most likely suspects, but is one better than the other? Are there pros/cons that may not be obvious at first glance? Are there frameworks that I have not considered?     All the questions I've seen regarding iOS universal apps (with or without cocos2d) deal with the "how to add graphics to a universal app". My question is, how does the code need to be written to ensure that the sprites appear appropriately on the screen (given that an iPhone 5's resolution is not proportional to an iPad's resolution)? Is it just a bunch of "if" statements and duplicate code or do iOS/cocos2d provide common function calls that will place the sprites at an appropriate position?

    In virsh I detach a PCI bus from host and attach it to a VM. I don't see any errors in these steps. Now my question is how to know which module to blacklist, so he can use the card in Windows and override it when he boots into Ubuntu.     I'm new to linux and just starting to learn. From what I've read and experimented with there's no more support for older ati mobility cards. I resolved a few boot issues with my first install of Ubuntu 12.10(now on clean install #3) and my system seems to function ok with video unknown. Picture quality is good and no issues with video playback. It functions for my purposes. Should I leave it as is......or will this cause problems I'm not aware of? Thanks

  • volume group disappeared after xfs_check run

    EDIT** I have a volume group consisting of 5 RAID1 devices grouped together into a lvm and formatted with xfs. The 5th RAID device lost its RAID config (cat /proc/mdstat does not show anything). The two drives are still present (sdj and sdk), but they have no partitions. The LVM appeared to be happily using sdj up until recently. (doing a pvscan showed the first 4 RAID1 devices + /dev/sdj) I removed the LVM from the fstab, rebooted, then ran xfs_check on the LV. It ran for about half an hour, then stopped with an error. I tried rebooting again, and this time when it came up, the logical volume was no longer there. It is now looking for /dev/md5, which is gone (though it had been using /dev/sdj earlier). /dev/sdj was having read errors, but after replacing the SATA cable, those went away, so the drive appears to be fine for now. Can I modify the /etc/lvm/backup/dedvol, change the device to /dev/sdj and do a vgcfgrestore? I could try doing a pvcreate --uuid KZron2-pPTr-ZYeQ-PKXX-4Woq-6aNc-AG4rRJ /dev/sdj to make it recognize it, but I'm afraid that would erase the data on the drive UPDATE: just changing the pv to point to /dev/sdj did not work vgcfgrestore --file /etc/lvm/backup/dedvol dedvol Couldn't find device with uuid 'KZron2-pPTr-ZYeQ-PKXX-4Woq-6aNc-AG4rRJ'.   • In WPF, how do I get a command in a Control Template to bind to a property in a parent?

    I am relatively new to WPF and sometimes it makes my head explode. However, I do like the power behind it, especially when used with the MVVM model. I have a control template that contains a button. I use that control template inside of a custom control. I want to add a property on the custom control that will bind to the command property of the button inside the control template. Basically, it is a combo box with a button to the right of it to allow a user to pop up a search dialog. Since this control could appear on a usercontrol multiple times, I need to be able to potentially bind each control to a different command (Searh products, search customers, etc). Once I managed to lose my wired connection as well and had to reinstall.     I have recently installed Windows XP Pro SP2. Whenevr I try to run any .exe file I get the following error: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. I read some where that if we right click on the file and in Properties-Security click the unblock option, this problem is solved but this is not working for me as I dont get Security tab in Properties.Please help!! Due to this I am not able to install any software in my computer
