  • file copy error from system to cifs mount

    When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match. I have plenty of file space, but then I use cp, I get the following... cp: closing `cloudBackup/asdf.txt': No space left on device Using rsync, I get the following... rsync: close failed on "/home/fluffy/cloudBackup/.asdf.txt.qrBWe6": No space left on device (28) rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(752) [receiver=3.0.8] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (29 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.8] I have full read/write permissions on the mounted share. I can copy via SSH just fine. Any ideas? Thank you

    Hi - I'm trying to open a file located on a networkshare by giving the anchor tag path = file://///servername/folder/file.docx This works in IE8 and i'm able to open the file in word, however in Firefox nothing happens. I believe it's due to some secruity settings in Firefox. I tried about:config and turning off the checkloaduri value. But it didnt solve the problem. Does anyone know how I can make this work in both IE and Firefox.

    here as it's locked over there; I hope it belongs in this forum; Is it possible to open .lnk (windows shortcut) in a hex editor, and change the absolut shortcut path into a relative one? Can we do this is windows? The edit command in cmd can open link files but it's difficult to read and edit. Is there any hex editor in windows that can open lnk file and allow me to edit it? Do I need to take it to linux or does Linux recognize .lnk as a shortcut too? I want to do this not only for running exe files, but also for pointing to folders (that is, shortcut to folders). A batch file which executes explorer.exe with the target folder as parameter can do this actually, but I want to know if there is any way to actually edit the data in the .lnk file itself

  • Playing/extracting audio file from PDF

    I use Ubuntu and I have a PDF file that contains an audio annotation. It won't play on Okular, it treats it as a text annotation. Following an old blog post where the poster created a small C script to extract the audio didn't work either, I suspect the format of these audio annotations has changed. Using the information on it I managed to uncompress the PDF and with vim, I found the audio data in the file. I tried copying this into its own file and changed the extension from mp3, wav, mid, but none of them would play. Is there a way of achieving this?

  • Recover data from OST file

    I need to recover some mails from a backed up OST file. Unfortunately, I deleted the corresponding IMAP mail account from Outlook. When I recreate the mail account and replace the created OST file with my backup I get the following error message: The file {path}.ost cannot be accessed because it has been configured for use with a different mailbox. How to solve this problem? Please don't suggest a OST to PST tool unless you know it works. I tried numerous of those tools from dubious looking websites and none worked. Please note: I am using Outlook 2013 Preview.

    I have a file UTF-8 encoding in windows, and when i use it under windows it shows everithing right, but when i copy the file in Linux, the Unicode characters are giberish.     How to execute a script once at startup time on CentOS 6.3? I added file with following containment #chkconfig: 2345 95 20 #description: Some description sh /opt/somePath/my.sh into /etc/ini.d and it works fine (I executed required chmod, chkconfig). But my.sh file is compatible to run as service. And when I try to run in same way another .sh file (which can't to tun as service) I get exceptions on starting X. So I want to know how I can run .sh files which are not services. Thanks.

    Is it possible to pass command-line arguments to a program that is invoked via a file:// url? I'm trying to include Remote Desktop links in a wiki page that lists some servers: <a href="file:///c|/windows/system32/mstsc.exe /v:serverName">serverName</a> When I omit the argument the link works fine, but when I include it the link doesn't work. I Googled around a bit and couldn't find any references to this. I suspect that the answer is that file:// urls simple don't accept arguments (I can think of all kinds of ways to abuse them if they do), but I thought I'd throw it out there in case I've simply got the syntax wrong. I could not find a direct way though. So I redirected the eval string to a temporary batch file and executed it. The temporary batch file was successfully created but calling it did not work in the above case. I noticed that any command after the test.bat creation did not work.

    Hi, Need to edit some of the local text files on my iphone but so far all the apps I have downloaded do not navigate the OS3 file tree for me to load and edit them. I need to do this on my iphone as I can no longer access via ssh or with the iphone cable. One of the files to edit is a ssh config file which is what is not allowing ssh connections.   • Is there any conflict between NFS and calling getFD().sync()?

    My boss is worried that our NFS file system will not be happy with the jboss run java process calling getFD().sync on the files we are writing. We have noticed that frequently the time stamp on the created file is minutes (sometimes as many as 15 minutes) after the log claims the file was finished writing. My only guess is that the NFS is hanging on to the file in memory and not writing it till it feels like it. sync should solve that probelm, right? I also noticed that there is never a close() called on the file. Wondering if that could have been the cause as well? any thoughts appreciated.

    I have Apache 2.2, and it's got modaspdotnet installed - the 2.2 version. I followed the advice at Configuring ASP.NET MVC2 on Apache 2.2 using mod_aspdotnet, and the server works basically very well. However, I'm trying to create custom extensions (e.g. file.customname, instead of file.aspx), similar to how Apache/PHP/htaccess can handle this. (I think it's mod_rewrite or .htaccess, forgotten which now!) What would I do to get these custom file types (all serving .NET files) working? The extensions are given custom names by me, simply for testing purposes This is a tourism site [a testing one, btw], and it's working OK on localhost for basic pages, but I wanted to know how to do this. How would I go about this? I've had a look on Google etc. but custom HTTP handlers was all I could really find! Thanks

However my OS file system has a limit on the number of sub directories, meaning storing the original folder structure is not going to work. Suggestions? Map the URL to some filename so can store flatly? Or just shove it in a database like sqlite to avoid file system limitations?

  • Enabled boot logging option in Win XP doesn't produce ntbtlog.txt file

    I have tried enabling the boot logging option for Windows XP Pro using the F8 and also boot.ini method, but it does not seem to be creating the expected ntbtlog.txt file. I'm doing this to help me solve a problem where the Avast antivirus service is not starting up - it keeps complaining with the message: "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start". I seem to notice that the file is produced on a system where the Avast antivirus is starting up without any problems. Can anybody suggest why the ntbtlog.txt file is not being created?

    Hi all, I'm using rmagick to manipulate image files. I use the ImageList.new on each file to get started. When I apply this method to an invalid image file I get the below error which interrupts the execution of the script: RMagick.rb:1635:in `read': Improper image header (Magick::ImageMagickError) Therefore I would like to be able to check whether a file is a valid image file before using this method.   • mod hosts file, connect to joomla on remote server

    I've just acquired an account on a remote server with Joomla installed. I was instructed to add xxx.xx.xxx.xx name.ca www.name.ca to the hosts file which I found in /private/etc/ . I had to su to my admin account and use sudo to mod file and found that hosts is also found in /etc/ though it is apparently the same file. I attempted to flush the the DNS cache using dscacheutil -flushcache and then launched Safari and entered address xxx.xx.xxx.xx/administrator but got a 404 error. Joomla was set up for me by the server owner and accessed from his Windows laptop to demonstrate so I know it should work but no go here. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

    I have a piece of code that reads hell of a lot (hundreds of thousand) of relatively small files (couple of KB) from the local file system in a loop. For each file there is a java.io.FileInputStream created to read the content. The process its very slow and take ages. Do you think that wrapping the FIS into java.io.BufferedInputStream would make a significant difference?
