  We are implementing a warehouse management system atop an open source stack (Java, web services & friends). In this system, we want to integrate many mobile devices which should also be capable of adequate online/offline functionality, e.g. preparing database inserts while a mobile device is temporarily unconnected, and performing them on the backend database when reconnected. For a .NET stack, Microsoft Sync Framework would be a perfect solution, e.g. to do database replication and hoarding. Can anyone suggest an open source alternative to the MS Sync Framework and possibly describe his experiences with it? Thanks in advance for any answers.

• Right solution for /etc/hosts file reset on reboot

  i've just installed funtoo and after setting the FQDN on /etc/conf.d/hostname i noticed when setting a list of aliases in /etc/hosts file it get overwtiten on each reboot. Someone points to set the aliases to 127.0.0.2 ip address but that's not a valid solution for me. Could someone point me to the file where i should place entries like 127.0.0.1 local.foo 127.0.0.1 local.bar in order to make them persist in /etc/hosts after rebooting? Thanks! PD: I think openresolv could be the one who is overwritting the file.

But this code doesn't let me set a phone number to dial after i setup the port and before I transfer the file. Is there any way of sharing the port with another application that dials the phone number?

I would like to include an html file in my plugin zip package that is placed into the site's root directory "as is" (same file name, etc) The file is my google verification file, which is the same for all my sites, so I'd like to save a few steps and automate the process of installing it, along with my default setup steps that my plugin handles.   I've been reading about the encryption features of TrueCrypt, including the feature to have an encrypted volume inside a file with any name. For example, I can create an encrypted volume inside a file named music.mp3. However, the file won't really play when I try to open it in a music player. Is there a way to add "decoy" content to music.mp3 so that someone who doesn't know its got encrypted content can double click on it and music will play? Obviously it doesn't have to be music, but also images, decoy test document, etc. etc.

  apache dont send me mp3 header even when use direct address to the file, it means i can play it with flash audio players on my web pages, but when i tried to download from direct address on my server i got "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset" or sometimes gives me a file with mp3 extension that has just 13B files-size, and when i open that file in gedit/notepad there is just: <html></html> i dont have any problem with php files and images, but mp3 files never be send to browser for download or play. i added this code to httpd.conf: AddType audio/mpeg .mp3 but there is not any difference!! thanks in advance

  I need a way to pass a given variable - lets say thearch - to several different files within a given class. I need to be able to state the contents of this variable for each file individually. I have tried the following: file { "xxx": thearch => "i386", path => "/xxx/yyyy", owner => root, group => root, mode => 644, content => template("module/test.erb"), } This doesn't pass this variable so I can use it with a <%=thearch% statement within the erb file as I expect.   I am new to Drupal and have just started in Drupal 7. I have a very simple .bat file that calls a .txt file to open a ftp connection, get a file off the ftp server and place it on my desktop. Now that I know that works.. (YAY!) I need to figure out how to have it done with a cron job in Drupal, save it somewhere so that I can unzip it somehow and then populate a table in the database with it. • iOS Downloading Videos and saving in Application Support folder

  In my application, i've to download videos around 10 to my application and play accordingly. Each video is around 50 MB. I'm using following code and then after downloading the video, i'm saving it to Application support folder to avoid icloud sync. But the problem is that when downloading the videos its crashing. [NSURLConnection sendAsynchronousRequest:req queue:[[NSOperationQueue alloc] init] completionHandler:^(NSURLResponse *response, NSData *rcvdDat, NSError * err) { . . . } What I'm thinking is that, while downloading the video, it resides in memory and so the total memory occupying by the app is increasing. Finally iOS is making the app to close. I would like to download the video and when ever a stream of data received, write to temp file and when completes move it to application support folder. Can some one help me on how to write it to file and save it at the end? I cannot use 3rd party libraries (unless its small) due to legal issues.

We have implemented the syn with SQL Server internal change tracking and over WCF using MS Sync Framework (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sync/default.aspx) All of our tables have primary key as integer, we cannot move to GUID. So as you are thinking we will have identity crises between applications. So we decided to go with the way Merge replication does(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa179416(SQL.80).aspx) partition the primary key range. Below is the example scenario - Server Table A - ID Range - 0 to 100 Client 1 Table A - ID Range - 101 to 200 Client 2 Table A - ID Range - 201 to 300 how to implement this ? i know we can use BCC CHECKIDENT (yourtable, reseed, value) CHECK (([ID]<=(100))) but this does not solve the issue.... Merge replication provides an option of "Not for replication"(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa237102(SQL.80).aspx) to achieve insert form clients and still maintain the set range.. can i use that somehow here? please help...
