• problem with .wax format

  I installed Ubuntu 10.4 onto a pc for an elderly woman. It was supposed to solve the problems she was having with windows, ie: she would constantly remove things, or try to fix problems herself. So I figured that Linux would solve those issues. However, what I didn't take into account was that she watches " http://www.shepherdschapel.com/broadband.htm " and when using Ubuntu, I can't seem to find a media player to make the files work. I am out of ideas. I tried kplayer, and it worked (sort of). The file that is downloaded from the site when you click the windows media player site one link is, .wax format. Which is an instruction file for windows media player. Is there anything I can do to make these videos work?

• Is it possible to track an outsourced adwords campaign?

  We have a site that is paying a 3rd party to run adwords campaigns on our behalf. They do this using their own Adwords account and so we are unable to link it to our Google Analytics account. We do have our own Adwords account for the site which is linked but the majority of campaigns are being run by this 3rd party. At the moment, in our Adwords reports (ie the Adwords section within Google Analytics) we are seeing that for the majority of visits the campaign and keyword data is not set. I am assuming that this is because even though the visit is being recognised as coming from an Adwords account, because it is not the Adwords account linked to our Analytics account, we don't get sent the campaign and keyword information. Is this correct and if so is there a way that we can start tracking this information so that we can see for ourselves how the campaigns are performing? Many thanks

• Browser problem for background-size property [migrated]

  I am using one picture as my background of header of my blog. CSS i have used is #header-wrapper { height:125px; padding: 0px; margin: 0; background: url("http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lxBSX0YJV58/TOspWPI1r-I/AAAAAAAAA34/uw872WFS3ME/s1600/headerbg.jpg") top center no-repeat; background-size: 1120px 124px; } original width of an image is 990 px and i made it 1120px using property background-size: 1120px 124px; It looks okay in firefox 4 and Opera 11 but doesn't work in IE 7, Palemoon etc. image size does not increases and remains 990 px. • SSH not working from outside network

  Ok.. First off my ISP does not block ports. I run web server just fine from another machine. I have port forwarded port 22. I can access within network but not out of.. I.E. my android. I get "The Operation Timed Out" on ConnectBot. Oh and I have allowed 22 on UFW. To answer what exactly happened was my ISP blocks port 22, even though a while back they told me they do not block any ports.. I changed it to port 27 and it worked without a problem.

I'm still a novice (I've been doing it for about a year), so the majority of my code pertains to only two fields (GUI design in Python and basic algorithms in C/C++). I understand that the UI would be vastly different, but the question remains, is it possible at all to overlay content or change behavior of the Gmail app for android. • How do I turn off all the password prompts?

  I've been using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS since release and am trying to figure out a couple things about all of these passwords and key-ring prompts that I've just been living with for a while. Ever since install it seems that every time I boot up my computer and want to do anything (ie. use the internet, use a internet browser, install something, delete something, pick my nose) I'm always prompted for either a normal password entry or a key-ring password entry. The SDK is released under Apache 2.0 license, so I assume my project can or should use the same.   Possible Duplicate: How should I handle search engines auto-correcting the spelling of a site's name? My domain name is radiuus.com. Since the correct spelling of the word is with one u, when I search for "radiuus" on google it thinks I'm misspelling the word, kindly lets me know, and returns results for "radius". • Why don't we use browser detection and platform-specific CSS?

  Nowadays, the common phenomena is to develop a website for a browser and then corresponding apps for Android phones, iPhone, tablets and so on. Since all the platforms come with a browser, why aren't companies using CSS to accommodate them? Surely we can detect from the request which browser was used and from which platform the request came. Reading those values, why don't we just implement the corresponding CSS for different platforms. Like we do for IE, Chrome and Safari. This way we can use the platforms' browser capabilities and don't need to develop subsequent apps for a platform.

• How do I get the Java plugin in Firefox 3.6 working?

  I have Ubuntu 10.10. I needed the Sun Java so I added Sun Oracle as supplier of packages and installed java-6. However, I haven't been able to persuade Firefox to use this Java for the browser. In fact I managed to turn off the original Java plugin (I can't remember exactly how) and I can't see any way to re-enable it. Ie. it doesn't appear in the "plugins" page of the Add-ons option. (I'm in Firefox 3.6.13) Any suggestions for how to re-enable Java in FF 3.6, and make sure it's using the Sun version? thanks phil

  I have two web sites: one HTTP site and one HTTPS site. I will validate the credentials in HTTPS environment and will return to HTTP once authorized. The same is working fine in IE but in Mozilla im getting a warning which is given below. Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a thrid party. • Is there a virtual printer to output an Open Office doc to multiple images (jpg, png etc)?

  I'm after a virtual printer which takes each page of "printed" output and converts into multiple images (one image for each page)... eg. .jpg, or .png, etc.. I'm specifically looking for something to work with Open-Office Writer, but I assume that such a virtual printer would work across the board for any app which can send its output to a "printer". • Distro that I can load into RAM?

  Is there a modified version of Ubuntu that I can choose to load to RAM on start up? Kinda like the LiveCD, but that can be easily modified (ie: I can install stuff) when I choose to boot from disk. The idea is to install it to a USB drive. I know there's something similar but slax is lacking in many departments. A "full" version Ubuntu would be better. A LiveUSB installation seems to be pretty close to what I want, but apparently I have to choose whether or not it will be persistent by the time I install it. I want to be able to choose that every time I boot.

  In reading through this article: In Subfolder & File Names, Use Dashes, Not Underscores Good: Good: http://www.domain.com/sub-folder/file-name.htm Bad: http://www.domain.com/sub_folder/file_name.htm In my URL's, I may have one or two city names, ending with the province/state: Burnaby_New_Westminister-BC/[some search term]. My URL rules currently are defined such that everything after the dash is the prov/state. Some geographic locations already contain dashes: Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (in QC), which I would convert to ~/Notre_Dame_de_Grace-QC/ I thought of placing the prov/state after another "/", however in some cases the province/state name may not exist, thus ~/Notre_Dame_de_Grace/, so the first term after the domain name contains the geo location {city, city_name-state}. I am now revisiting this, and wondering if this rule set should change, and if so, what is the recommended way of implementing this? -- UPDATE -- After reviewing this video, I see that I should be using the dashes, rather than underscores. However since I still want to have my geo locations in the first URL section, is there anything wrong with using a double-dash separator - ie: /city-name--state/ ?

• Could it be more efficient for systems in general to do away with Stacks and just use Heap for memory management?

  It seems to me that everything that can be done with a stack can be done with the heap, but not everything that can be done with the heap can be done with the stack. Is that correct? Then for simplicity's sake, and even if we do lose a little amount of performance with certain workloads, couldn't it be better to just go with one standard (ie, the heap)? Think of the trade-off between modularity and performance. I know that isn't the best way to describe this scenario, but in general it seems that simplicity of understanding and design could be a better option even if there is a potential for better performance.

  I have a service in a very big city, and to make my ads stand out, I display the name of the neighborhood in the display URL, although the actual URL is always the same page with my services for any neighborhood. Will google decrease my rating for this? In a different note, you can also express your ideas about if it's sensible to do this or not, ie, the client might feel I'm deceiving them. Although this will be subjective, unless there is some scientific study. Thank you!

  While developing and testing a site on local network I have noticed that while IE/FireFox would display the images coming from URL's like "http:\mypc" or "http:\localhost" or ip adress on the netwrok , google chrome on Galaxy, Windows Machine, or google Android will not display the images. After having burned too many hours trying various CSS, image src tag, html document description tricks, I have given up. During my search I found (and lost) the link to chrome forums regarding this issue that seemed to say it is just so by users. Anyone has any more information on weather it is possible to view images on local host/computer name on netwrok or ip adress?
