• How to get the Blur event to fire for the document on the iPhone?

  Does anyone know how to get the blur event to fire on the document for the iPhone? I'm trying to get it to fire either when a user changes windows in Safari, or when they open their bookmarks or when they decide to add the page to their homescreen. But none of these are firing it. Here's my code: $(document).blur( function () { document.title = "Ian Taylor"; }); I've tried "document", "window", "'body'". Nothing seems to work.

  Hi, i'm currently working on a HTML5 video player, i got it working fully everywhere, except on the freakin iPad. Basically, i can control everything, except the sound, i have a mute button, it works fine on Google Chrome, FF3.6 and Safari on Mac OS, but on the iPad no matter what value i put in video.volume, there is no change happening. Anybody got it working properly? • Ul Li last element not aligning properly

  I am having a problem where the last li element in a ul is pushing itself to the left further than the rest of all my pieces. Attached is a screen shot and my code. • How to programmatically answer "Yes" to WebBrowser control security alert

  I am using WebBrowser control to programmatically access a single website, but whenever I login, I receive this certificate security alert: Since I trust that website and since I need to programmatically automate the login as well, this dialog box gets in the way. I searched SO for a solution and found a question similar to mine, but the accepted answer does not work! I defined a static member in the form that contains the WebControl: public static bool ValidateServerCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } In my form's constructor I added: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); But that didn't get rid of the certificate security alert. Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is there an IE equivalent to Firefox's Add Security Exception??? Note: The owner's certificate works perfectly fine (without exhibiting this security alert) with standalone browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). It only exhibits the problem with the WebBroswer control.

  I have Windows 7 Home Premium Blackberry Curve 9300 6.0 bundle 1478 (v6.0.0.380, platform 6.6.0.86) desktop software 6.0.0.380 I was able to connect with desktop software version 5 but 6 does not work. I am able to connect to the internet just fine with the device itself (ie can browse the web). How can I debug this? update: here's the error message: when i try to connect i get the message "failed to start mobile internet. the specified port is not open. please check your profile settings and make sure your radio is turned on. this service might also have been turned off by your wireless service provider or your administrator"

• Problem uploading .docx through html form

  I've made a simple form, with the proper enctype for uploading files. When i try to upload a .docx everything works fine in IE 8 and Safari, but in Firefox or IE 7 or 6 i can't even click submit, nothing happens! Could this still be a server issue? It's an apache server. • IE9 Acid 3 test?

  Does anybody know if Microsoft is planning on having IE9 pass with 100/100 on acid 3? The current version of IE9 gets a 68/100 on the test (can be viewed here, main site here). What did IE8 pass with? What about IE7? How does it compare to other modern browsers such as Safari, Firefox, and Chrome? Please submit useful answers, not opinions on how bad IE is, I don't like it either. Thanks a bunch!

• jquery ui dialog fixed positioning

  Hi, I needed the dialog to maintain its position fixed even if the page scrolled, so i used the extension at http://forum.jquery.com/topic/dialog-position-fixed-12-1-2010 but there's 2 problems with it: it flickers in IE and Firefox on page scroll (in Safari/Chrome it's fine) on closing and then reopening, it looses its stickyness and scrolls along with the page.   I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill?

• Any way to remove IEs black border around submit button in active forms?

  I am implementing a design that uses custom styled submit-buttons. They are quite simply light grey buttons with a slightly darker outer border: input.button { background: #eee; border: 1px solid #ccc; } This looks just right in Firefox, Safari and Opera. The problem is with Internet Explorer, both 6 and 7. Since the form is the first one on the page, it's counted as the main form - and thus active from the get go. The first submit button in the active form receives a solid black border in IE, to mark it as the main action. If I turn off borders, then the black extra border in IE goes away too. I am looking for a way to keep my normal borders, but remove the outline.

• YouTube player api - addEventListener() does not work for me?

  Hi, I'm using the youtube player api. I'm following the doc here: http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/js_api_reference.html having a problem adding an event listener on the player, it seems to just get stuck there. I put an alert statement directly after, which never gets called: ytplayer.addEventListener("onStateChange", "onytplayerStateChange"); alert("I never get called..."); any idea why this would happen? Running it through FF chrome safari, same thing happens on all. Other player features all work fine. I'm using the swfobject version. I'm running this live from a server too. I don't get it. Thanks

• Use a "x-dom-event-stream" stream in javascript ?

  Hello, HTML5 draft contains an API called EventSource to stream data (notifications) trough javascript using only one server call. • Restoring an Exchange 2010 user's calendar without rest of mailbox

  I am trying to restore a user's calendar from backup, which was deleted by a sync problem on her mobile device. I've been able to restore her mailbox without a problem but I had to link it to a new AD user since she deleted the calendar several days before she reported the problem and the current backups of her account didn't include any calendar events, but all of her current email. I had to restore the mailbox from the day before she deleted everything. I've tried sharing the calendar and opening it in her account, then copying or moving the contents, but I get an error that outlook can't do the task because there are personal items. I tried bringing up the "Recovery User" I created, in Outlook and exporting the calendar events to a .pst, then importing them into the user's real account, but they all get created in a sub-folder called "Recovery User." In case it matters, she's running Outlook 2010 and we're using Exchange 2010 SP1. Thank in advance for help with this problem...Michael

• Is anyone else receiving a QUOTA_EXCEEDED_ERR on their iPad when accessing localStorage?

  I have a web application written in JavaScript that runs successfully on the desktop via Safari as well as on the iPhone. We are looking at porting this application to the iPad and we are running into a problem where we are seeing QUOTA_EXCEEDED_ERR when storing a relatively small amount of data within the localStorage on the device.   My acer aspire laptop suddenly stopped working while it was connected to my nokia mobile modem through usb. It stopped with power swich staying on and no response to clicking off, no irregular sound, nothing but just a blank screen. I disconnected the power and battery quickly but power switch did not respond at all and even the power indicator didn't turn on again. the display was also gone after disconecting the power and removing battery. It has no response or any sign of power while both battery and power supply are working. What do you think? A completely dead mainboard? Does the MB has any safty board or fuse that could be replaced? Any suggestion will be appreciated, Thank you.

• Anti-aliasing not working when resizing a UIWebView

  I'd like to add a Web View to my app at 60% scale (like seen in Safari in the browse other windows view): Notice how the content looks nice and Aliased! • Two network cards in one Windows 7 PC

  Hi, I've upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. On Vista I used to run one network card (Intel 82566DC -2 Gigabit) for my internet which was connected to a Dovado USB mobile broadband router connected to a 3G modem. The IP setup on the card is set on DHCP. The second card (3com Ethernet link) was used to connect to our town's local WUG (wireless user group) and all worked fine. Now the problem I have with Windows 7 is that when I connect to the internet with the (Intel) first card, the internet work fine but as soon as I connect the second card to the wug my internet drops. If I then disconnect the first card (internet one) and try to connect to the wug it works. It seems that the two cards are fighting each other. Is there maybe something I can do to fix the problem? As you probably can gather from this post is that I am not an expert on PC's so please if you do answer do I in simple terms. :) Thanks, Martin

• Do not fetch app.manifest each time

  For creating an offline version of a bunch of linked web pages I use an app.manifest-file that lists all the web pages for offline caching. I would like it that the app.manifest file is not fetched every time when a user jumps from one web page to another. Most of the web pages will never be updated once the application is on the iPhone. Also the target audience is abroad so roaming costs could add up while users are using my "web app". Searching the internet made me think in the direction of forcing an offline mode in Mobile Safari using Javascript but I don't know if this is the right way to go or if it is even possible. Does anyone have any other and/or better ideas and suggestions on how to do this?

• internet explorer ashx file problem

  My problem is a bit complicated: I am writing in c#, asp.net and using jquery I have a page that sends requests to the server using jquery's ajax method. I have a ashx file (handler) to respond to these request. User can perform several changes on several pages, then use some method that will call the ajax method. My ashx file reads some values From the session variables and acts accordingly. This works fine in all browsers but in internet explorer. In internet explorer the session seems to hold old information (old user ids'). It's incredible, the same code works fine in firefox, chrome and safari but fails with ie. What could be causing it? I have no clue where to even start looking for a solution. btw, Sorry for the general title, couldn't figure out how to explain in just few words. Thank You!

  Generally speaking, when given a cookie that has no expiration period, modern browsers will consider this cookie to be a 'session cookie', they will remove the cookie at the end of the browsing session (generally when the browser instance closes). IE, Opera, Safari and Chrome all support this behavior. However firefox (3.0.9 latest proper release) appears not to follow this rule, from what I can tell it doesn't expire the cookies when the browser is closed, or when the user logs off or restarts the OS.. So, why does firefox refer to these as session cookies, when they last aparently indefinitely? Does anyone know how Firefox handles session cookie expiration?

• Leaving out type="text/javascript" language="javascript"

  Most of the script tags I create, I always include type="text/javascript" language="javascript" in the tag. My boss however does not. Sometimes he excludes both, sometimes just has language=javascript even without the quotes Now we have not had an issue in any of the major browsers with his tags. I'm talking about all versions of IE, FF, Safari, and Chrome. Personally I feel it's laziness and just totally improper and bad coding practice to leave stuff out like this even if it works without it. Anyone know if both should be included or just one or is it ok to leave both out in ASP.NET?

• 100% height on nested table cell in IE

  I want a nested table to expand to the height of the enclosing cell. This works as expected in Firefox/Chrome/Safari, but not in IE7 or IE8. Please see the example here: http://www.bitmechanic.com/heightDemo.html The DOCTYPE is relevant. While the demo above validates as HTML 4.01 Strict, it does not render properly in IE7. If I remove the DOCTYPE entirely, or set it to HTML 3.2, it renders properly in IE. Any suggestions on how to get this to render in 4.01 (strict or loose)? The actual web site is a bit more complicated -- changing the DOCTYPE will cause all sorts of other problems. We're struggling to understand the (presumed) IE bug here and how to work around it. thanks -- James
