  • Change storyboard UIImageView to own class with backgroundcolor

    I want to draw the background image on my own, so I decided to implement a UIImageView class and connect it in the Storyboard. As first task I just want to set the backgroundcolor of the image on my own, but it's never shown. Image just stays blank.   • how to ssh in perl script

  • cygwin: svn does not work anymore

    All of the sudden svn stopped working in cygwin installation on windows xp. when I execute svn binary, nothing happens, svn process does not even show up in the Task Manager. I've reinstalled svn but it did not help (the last resort would be to uninstall cygwin itself).   • Ideas for designing an automated content tagging system needed

    I am currently designing a website that amongst other is required to display and organise small amounts of text content (mainly quotes, article stubs, etc.). I currently have a database with 250,000+ items and need to come up with a method of tagging each item with relevant tags which will eventually allow for easy searching/browsing of the content for users. A very simplistic idea I have (and one that I believe is employed by some sites that I have been looking to for inspiration (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/topics.html)), is to simply search the database for certain words or phrases and use these words as tags for the content. This can easily be extended so that if for example a user wanted to show all items with a theme of love then I would just return a list of items with words and phrases relating to this theme. This would not be hard to implement but does not provide very good results. For example if I were to search for the month 'May' in the database with the aim of then classifying the items returned as realting to the topic of Spring then I would get back all occurrences of the word May, regardless of the semantic meaning. Another shortcoming of this method is that I believe it would be quite hard to automate the process to any large scale. What I really require is a library that can take an item, break it down and analyse the semantic meaning and also return a list of tags that would correctly classify the item. I know this is a lot to ask and I have a feeling I will end up reverting to the aforementioned method but I just thought I should ask if anyone knew of any pre-existing solution. I think that as the items in the database are short then it is probably quite a hard task to analyse any meaning from them however I may be mistaken. Another path to possibly go down would be to use something like amazon turk to outsource the task which may produce good results but would be expensive. Eventually I would like users to be able to (and want to!) tag content and to vote for the most relevant tags, possibly using a gameification mechanic as motivation however this is some way down the line. A temporary fix may be the best thing if this were the route I decided to go down as I could use the rough results I got as the starting point for a more in depth solution.   • How do you get "in the zone"?

    Hi, I've just started my first real programming job and am pleased to discover that this is exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. When it comes round to ~1 hour before it's time to go home and I think "Man, do I have to go home already?" I'd say that's A Good Thing(tm). One thing I've discovered though is that it takes a little while for my brain to get "in gear" or "in the Zone", so I'm curious what other folks do to get programming at their prime. My current flow is when I get here I visit SO and look at the interesting problems - I find it helps get my brain moving. After 20-30 minutes I start looking at my code/specs/etc to decide what I want/need to work on first. So how do you get started?

  • Cant see images used in slideshow or other jquery plugins in ie8

    i am getting a weird error, i can see images in slideshow, lightbox etc in firefox and chrome but in ie8 there are no images. something wrong with javascript/jquery i think. i am using jquery-1.4.2, jquery.flow.1.2.min.js ,jquery.bgpos.js, jquery.easing.1.3.js, jquery.lightbox-0.5.min.js, jquery.validate.js, cufon-yui.js, jquery.galleriffic.js, DD_belatedPNG.js,clearbox.js Please check this , i have pasted images under slideshow , you can see those. http://kaisweb.com/projects/resume/ http://kaisweb.com/projects/resume/index.php?p=templates i tried to search but couldnt find anything. even if i remove jquery, still there are no images in ie8.   • How can an animator do animation targeted for the iPhone

    Hi, I'm working with an animator for the iPhone. The animator I'm working with isn't a programmer and has a background in Flash. (right now she's doing the animation in Flash and I need to convert to Objective C). For some it's ok because I can just use image frames, but there are more complex animation that would take longer for me to convert to Objective C.   • Moving and resizing JPanels object inside JFrame.

    Continuing my quest of learning Java by doing a simple game, i stumbled upon a little issue. My gameboard extends JPanel as well as each piece of the board. Now, this presents some problems: Cant set size of each piece, therefore, each piece JPanel ocupy the whole JFrame, concealing the rest of the pieces and the background (gameboard). Cant set the position of the pieces. I have the default flow manager. Tried setbounds and no luck. Perhaps i should make the piece to extend other JComponent?

  • Django adminsite customize search_fields query

    Howdy! In the django admin you can set the search_fields for the ModelAdmin to be able to search over the properties given there. My model class has a property that is not a real model property, means it is not within the database table. The property relates to another database table that is not tied to the current model through relations. But I want to be able to search over it, so I have to somehow customize the query the admin site creates to do the filtering when the search field was filled - is this possible and if, how? I can query the database table of my custom property and it then returns the ids of the model classes fitting the search. This then, as I said, has to flow into the admin site search query. Thanks!

    My XP machine has become terribly slow and I want to identify the application at fault. It seems to be related to disk access rather than processor hogging. I can look at the task manager to get a good idea but it's not ideal. I was wondering if there was some application that can monitor all aspects of processes effectively.
