  • Setting Icon for wpf application (VS 08)

    Hi everyone, Before going much further i'll mention I have tried solutions in following: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/320677/how-do-i-set-the-icon-for-my-application-in-visual-studio-2008 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/198848/set-application-icon-from-resources-in-vs-05 I am trying to set an icon for my application. AFAIK, I need potentially 3 images? 1 image is the actual image in explorer when clicking on the .exe (thumbnail for the exe) 1 image (tiny) in the top left corner (16 x 16? Not entirely sure) 1 image in the start menu dock, to the left of the app (maybe 32x32? again not sure) So thats fine. Now I have selected an Icon. How do I use it in one of above situations? I have tried adding it in resources, nothing seems to happen. Following that first SO solution, "First go to Resource View (from menu: View -- Other Window -- Resource View). Then in Resource View navigate through resources, if any. If there is already a resource of Icon type, added by Visual Studio, then open and edit it. Otherwise right-click and select Add Resource, and then add a new icon." The resource view is empty, and I cannot right click in this view. If I right click on the solution properties resources I can add the icon image, but it doesn't show in either of the locations listed above. (or anywhere that I can see) What am I doing wrong?

  • How to store a 250mb database in an Offline Web App

    Ok, maybe i'm not seeing the whole picture or something, but i kinda need a brainstorm. So the purpose is to make a webapp (HTML5, CSS, Javascript) that has to search on a 250mb database without any internet connection, so.. yes the database has to be on the client side. The hard part here is, this App has to work on an iPod or iPhone without internet connection. (An initial connection to download the App is ok), LocalStorage has a 5mb limit, couchDB would be great since they have an webapp easily accessed by Javascript (privacy concerns don't matter at this point), so i'm pretty much out of ideas.... Does anyone see an alternative, or solution for the purpose?

  • jQuery - making sure content is loaded before it's faded in?

But I notice that there's a small delay after I've clicked a link and before the content is actually loaded. It's not very intense content that's loaded either so I think it's got something to do with the order which things happen in the script.     I'm currently writing this jquery and for some reason (I don't know why) it works on the normal domain, but on the parked domain it doesn't. Normal domain - http://www.thefinishedbox.com Parked domain - http://www.tfbox.com If you scroll down to the colony news and hit the click me link you'll see it will retrieve data via jquery ajax on the Normal domain, but on the parked domain it wont.   • How to deal with accelerators for disabled controls?

    I have a dialog created from a template. It has controls listed in the template in the following order: some irrelevant controls a label with an accelerator (let's pretend it's Alt-A) an edit box OK and Cancel buttons Normally when I hit Alt-A the keybord focus is transferred to the edit box - just as needed. However I sometimes need to disable to edit box. If I hit Alt-A when the edit box is disabled the effect is that the OK button is pressed and that is definitely not what I want. I would prefer to have no action taken in this case. What could I do to workaround this?

Links, flash videos, etc. How can I adjust this so no matter what a user clicks on, before the video loads, new page loads, etc. It sends the simple GET request I built?   • java.lang.IllegalStateException: The content of the adapter has changed but ListView.... inspite of calling notifydatasetchanged()

    What are the best practices to be followed to update the contents of a listactivty by a background thread (Async Task) ? 1) Am calling the notifyDataSetChanged() to update the adapter as soon as i manipulate the contents of the adapter but still my app force closes while the user scrolls or click on the list. Any pointers to prevent this would be very helpfull. Logcat: java.lang.IllegalStateException: The content of the adapter has changed but ListView did not receive a notification. 2) Where exaclty should i update contents of the listactivity ? inside the doInBackground() or onProgressUpdate()? 3) Am experiencing regular crashes when the user clicks the list item. So will disabling click events on the listactivty during the background operation solve the problem ? If so am not sure how to remove or set item click listeners dynamically to the listactivity. Please instruct me on the too. 4) I dont think blocking all ui interactions during the background async task execution is the only way to solve the problem. I know there is a simple way of doing this but need some help. Thanks in advance.   • Cannot "Install New Software" in Eclipse 3.5

    I have just installed Eclipse 3.5 for Java EE developers ("Galileo"). I need to add an extra plugin, but when I select the "Install New Software ..." menu item, nothing happens. Literally nothing - no dialog opens, no error message is displayed. If I have the Debug window open, no message are displayed. If I go to Preferences - Install/Update - Available Software Sites, that dialog opens OK, I can manage the list of update sites, and test the connections, and they all appear OK. But I cannot get to use them to actually install anything. Is it just broken, or could there be something more subtle wrong? Thanks.

    Definition of SUCCEEDED(): #define SUCCEEDED(hr) (((HRESULT)(hr)) >= 0) Background: When an Ok button is clicked on a dialog, I need to return an HRESULT value hr such that SUCCEEDED(hr) is true. If Cancel button is clicked, I need to return a negative value. I could have used bools, but that would break the existing pattern (usually the hr values come from depths of system dlls). So, I know I can return S_OK on Ok, but what do I return on Cancel? I could just return (HRESULT)-1;, but there must be a better way - some HRESULT literal constant which has negative value and represents a generic failure. S_FALSE is not it, for it's value is defined as 1L. Please help me find the right constant.

For example: I click button2. Alertbox appears with button2.id, then with div3.id, div2.id etc. It shows me all id's under that button. If i try to store this id to variable like this: var storedId = $(this).attr('id').toString(); it stores the last one.That means i get the id of form1. How can i get the first id? The id of clicked button or clicked label or whatever i have on my page.

  • Get binary data from audio impulses

    I have IR sensor which have TRS plug and I can record my remotes signals into audio. Now I want to control my computer with TV remote, but I don't have any clue how to compare audio input with pre-recorded audio. But after I realized that these audio waves contains only some kind data (binary) I can turn these into binary or hex, so it is much easier to compare. Waves look just like this: http://i.imgur.com/lCIyl.png And this: ttp://i.imgur.com/goJ6d.png These are records of "OK" button, sometimes there are some impulses on right channel too and I don't know why, it seems like connections in sensor are damaged maybe. Ok thats not matter, anyway I need help with python program which read these impulses and turn these into binary, in realtime from audio input(mic). I know it's sounds like "Do it for me, while I enjoy my life", but I don't have experiences with sound transforming/reading... I've looking for python examples for recording and reading audio, but unsuccessfully.

    I know I shouldn't be using that function, and I don't care. Last time I checked the spec for strcat, it said something along the lines of updating the first value as well as returning the same. Now, this is a really stupid question, and I want you to explain it like you're talking to a really stupid person. Why won't this work? char* foo="foo"; printf(strcat(foo,"bar")); EDIT: I don't know the difference between char[] and char*. How would I allocate a string of 255 characters? EDIT 2: OK, OK, so char[number] allocates a string of that many bytes? Makes sense. Thanks.

  • Mysterious c debugging problem when trying to utilize printfs

    Ok, folks. I've never encountered this before and it boggles the mind and is illogical. I have a somewhat complex loop and I want to try and see if everything is working by putting some printf statements. I look the intermediate products using printf and verify that the answer is ok. Then, when I comment out the printf to the intermediate products, the answer is WRONG. Has anyone ever encountered this? This is driving me insane and I don't see how the printfs could change an answer.... X_x If it helps, I am using a c/c++ compiler for a DSP. Thanks for any advice..   • Facebook "->api" permissions

    I have trouble using Facebook auth on my website... I'm using the PHP Sdk and I don't understand why I can use some functions like "getLoginUrl"/"getLoginStatusUrl"/"getUser" (with right answers : the facebook session is started, i get the user's facebook ID) and when I want to use something like $me = $facebook->api("/me/permissions"); or just $me = $facebook->api("/me"); there's always an exception and nothing works ... I guess it has something to do with permissions or token maybe, but I don't know what. When the user sign up on my website, I ask permissions I need with this scope : "email,user_about_me,user_location,read_friendlists,publish_stream" A clue that the permissions seem to be ok is that when the exception occures, I ask the user to sign in again (facebook connect) and no window appears as if everything's ok, but still, the page is reloaded and the exception appears again and again... Please help, Thank you !

So far I have done very silly things. I would appreciate if you could help me with these: How do I open a new window (form)? Maybe I click a button on my main form and another form pops up. How do I "deactivate" the main form while the new form is running? (if I try to click the main form, an error sound plays) So my second form has a text field and a "OK" button. If I click it, the second form closes activating the main form again. I want to "pass" the text in the text field from the second form to the first one. How do I do that? Thank you, I am enjoying this new programming environment (didn't use Visual Studio much before)

  • asp.net - updatepannel can't read innerHTML?

    In my asp.net page, I have a jquery sortable accordian (in an update panel) I use so that clients can re-arrange items. Then to save it, users would click a button (thats created from jquery) and it would traverse through the accoridion in the DOM, and write the info to a asp control textbox. Then invoke the click function of a asp button control, which then reads that information and saves the data. But now I decided to simplify this step, and use html agility pack in c#, so users click the asp button control (inside an update panel), and then it would get the innerHTML of the accordian. But the problem is, the html it's getting is not the reflecting the changes a user can make to the accordion (i.e. re arranging it), it the same as when the DOM was ready on page load... But note that, using javascript to write the innerHTML to a textbox, then from the c# function, I can read the up to date html from the accordian. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get the up to data html from the accordian in c#?
