  Hey, what i want to do is to make a int that will be the ID of the entity and auto increment itself whenever a new entity is added (just like a SQL identity property). Is this possible? i tried using indexed (checked on attribute) however there is no description to what indexed even does. EDIT: I am adding annotations to a map, when you click the pin the annotationview with a chevron shows up. Now when you click this button i would like to load an associated picture. However the only way i know how to link the picture to this button is to give the picture a unique id, and then set the button.tag to this id and then load based on the button.tag.

• Architecture for analysing search result impressions/clicks to improve future searches

  We have a large database of items (10m+) stored in MySQL and intend to implement search on metadata on these items, taking advantage of something like Sphinx. The dataset will be changing slightly on a daily basis so Sphinx will be re-indexing daily. However we want the algorithm to self-learn and improve search results by analysing impression and click data so that we provide better results for our customers on that search term, and possibly other similar search terms too. I've been reading up on Hadoop and it seems like it has the potential to crunch all this data, although I'm still unsure how to approach it. Amazon has tutorials for compiling impression vs click data using MapReduce but I can't see how to get this data in a useable format. My idea is that when a search term comes in I query Sphinx to get all the matching items from the dataset, then query the analytics (compiled on an hourly basis or similar) so that we know the most popular items for that search term, then cache the final results using something like Memcached, Membase or similar. Am I along the right lines here?

• Password verification; Is this way of doing it safe?

  I have a classifieds website, where everybody may put ads of their products. For each classified, the user has to enter a password (so that they can delete the classified whenever they wish). So basically, when somebody wants to delete a classified, they click on the classified, click on the delete button, and enter the pass. I use MySql as a database. I use this code basically: if ($pass==$row['poster_password']) where row[poster_password] is fetched from MySql... What do you think? Thanks

• iPad web app: Prevent input focus AFTER ajax call

  So I've read around and can't for the life of me figure out of to solve my issue effectively. In short, I have a web app built for the iPad - which works as it should. However, I have an Ajax form which also submits as it should. But, after the callback and I clear/reset my form, the "iPad" automatically focuses on an input and opens the keyboard again. This is far from ideal. I managed to hack my way around it, but it's still not perfect. The code below is run on my ajax callback, which works - except there's still a flash of the keyboard quickly opening and closing. Note, my code won't work unless I use setTimeout. Also, from my understanding, document.activeElement.blur(); only works when there's a click event, so I triggered one via js. IN OTHER WORDS, HOW DO I PREVENT THE KEYBOARD FROM REOPENING AFTER AJAX CALL ON WEB APP? PS: Ajax call works fine and doesn't open the keyboard in Safari on the iPad, just web app mode.   I have an XSD scheme which has 10K lines. It takes 5 seconds to validate my XML with 500 lines. I get dynamically XML via POST from external server, on every click of the user on my homepage. The validation takes 5+ seconds, which is very much for every click of the user. PHP Example: $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('file.xml'); //100 to 500 lines $doc->schemaValidate('schema.xsd'); //schema.xsd 10 000 lines Do you have any idea how I can validate the XML against the XSD faster?

• DataGridView that always has one row selected

  I'm using a DGV to show a list of images with text captions as a picklist. Their must always be a one and only one selection made in the list. I can't find a way to prevent the user from clearing the selection with a control-click on the selected row. Is there a property in the designer I'm missing that could do this? If I have to override the behavior in the mouse click events are there other ways the user could clear the current selection that need covered as well? Is there a third approach I could take that's less cumbersome than my second idea?

My problem is I want to be able to download the file without being prompted to cancel, save or open. • Using jQUery hide() on newly created dom elements

  I am relatively new to jQuery. What I have is an app that is displaying a list of content items from the database in a table. If I click the title link of the page, it will load the page to edit in a tab (clicking teh tab lets me view that form to edit). My problem is that in using .load and creating the html inside an empty div, my css that was previously hidden by jQuery is no longer being hidden in this new form. For example, on the same page, I have a div with the class error. This is hidden. I click the title to edit, the page loads in an empty div, and the divs with error as a class are not hidden. Is there a way around this to get these elements hidden?

• Scroll returns to default after display:none in Chrome/IE

  Here's the example: http://jsfiddle.net/sammy/RubNy/ Scroll down in the div container. Then click anywhere in the window to hide the element. Then click once more to show the element. You'll notice in Chrome/IE that the scroll is reset, but in Firefox, the scroll remains how you left it. Which is the standards behavior, Chrome/IE or Firefox? • Attach an HREF and a class to an img link generated by the PhotoSlider script?

  Hi folks, I'm using the very nice PhotoSlider script from http://opiefoto.com/articles/photoslider to create a slide show of images for one of my clients. This script replaces a previous hand-coded Javascript solution that allowed for the large image to be clicked resulting in a lightbox modal popup showing the full-size version of the clicked picture. Of course the client insists that this functionality remain intact, but the HTML code for the large image is generated on-the-fly by the PhotoSlider script itself. This means I'll need to modify the script slightly to attach a class ("lightbox") and an href (or just a click event, whichever makes more sense), but I'm not quite sure how best to accomplish this. I figure the event and class will have to be attached each time a thumbnail is clicked, but if this isn't the best way to do it any advice will be appreciated. The script is implemented into my page as can be seen here, without the click or class. I'd really appreciate any assistance stackoverflowites can offer. Thanks in advance!

• Xcode 3.2 not recompiling changed files

  I've been programming a new iPhone application and everything has been chugging along fine, until this afternoon when I noticed that any changes I was making were not being reflected in the actual app! Even code that throws errors isn't getting picked up by the compiler. To get around this, I have taken to the following procedure: Finish making my edits, and add code to the file which will always throw a compiler error. Right-click the file I have just edited, and hit "Compile" to just compile that one file; it will throw the error. Remove the error-producing code, and again right-click and "Compile" the one file. Build the whole project This is quite annoying, and I can't figure out why this would suddenly happen to my Xcode project. Any thoughts on what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

• Jquery and CSS switching - is this possible?

  I build a css file using PHP which allows me to easily customize the color of many elements. Is it possible for me to "rebuild" the stylesheet and apply it to the page in the DOM using Jquery? eg. <?php if (isset($_POST['mycolor'])){ $myColor = $_POST['mycolor']; } else { $myColor = "blue"; } ?> <style type='text/css'> .style1{ color:<?php $myColor;?>; } </style> Now on my page I have a link you can click called "change color to red" and when you click "red" it does a $.post to my php script, which rebuilds the css including .style1 - and allows the page to change the stylesheet. I haven't tested this but would it even work? If I echo'ed out the new stylesheet after the post into the dom... would it even apply to the page?
