Accessing SVN Repository on external drive

I've installed SVN on my Raspberry PI and configured it to access the repository on an external hard drive. In /etc/fstab, I've have the following: //192.168.1.12/SHARE/repos /media/repos cifs sec=ntlm,username=Guest,password=,_netdev,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777 0 0 This mounts with no issues. When I go to add a project to the repository using the following command: sudo svn import mywebsite/ file://media/repos/mainrepository/mywebsite/ -m "Initial Upload" I get the following error: svn: E170000: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'file://media/repos/mainrepository/mywebsite' svn: E170000: Unable to open an ra_local session to URL svn: E170000: Local URL 'file://media/repos/mainrepository/mywebsite' contains unsupported hostname The only thing I think maybe causing the issue is the file settings: drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 0 Jun 11 2009 repos As you can see the owner is root, I think it needs to be www-data, but for some reason I can't change it. Any help appreciated.

Only scalar expressions are allowed." how can i calculate the value in this computed column ? thanks.

Not sure what happens to my apps objects when using NSURLSession in background - what state is my app in?

More of a general question - I don't understand the workings of NSURLSession when using it in "background session mode". I will supply some simple contrived example code. I have a database which holds objects - such that portions of this data can be uploaded to a remote server. It is important to know which data/objects were uploaded in order to accurately display information to the user. It is also important to be able to upload to the server in a background task because the app can be killed at any point. for instance a simple profile picture object: @interface ProfilePicture : NSObject @property int userId; @property UIImage *profilePicture; @property BOOL successfullyUploaded; // we want to know if the image was uploaded to out server - this could also be a property that is queryable but lets assume this is attached to this object @end Now Lets say I want to upload the profile picture to a remote server - I could do something like: @implementation ProfilePictureUploader -(void)uploadProfilePicture:(ProfilePicture *)profilePicture completion:(void(^)(BOOL successInUploading))completion { NSUrlSession *uploadImageSession = ..... // code to setup uploading the image - and calling the completion handler; [uploadImageSession resume]; } @end Now somewhere else in my code I want to upload the profile picture - and if it was successful update the UI and the database that this action happened: ProfilePicture *aNewProfilePicture = ...; aNewProfilePicture.profilePicture = aImage; aNewProfilePicture.userId = 123; aNewProfilePicture.successfullyUploaded = NO; // write the change to disk [MyDatabase write:aNewProfilePicture]; // upload the image to the server ProfilePictureUploader *uploader = [ProfilePictureUploader ....]; [uploader uploadProfilePicture:aNewProfilePicture completion:^(BOOL successInUploading) { if (successInUploading) { // persist the change to my db. aNewProfilePicture.successfullyUploaded = YES; [Mydase update:aNewProfilePicture]; // persist the change } }]; Now obviously if my app is running then this "ProfilePicture" object is successfully uploaded and all is well - the database object has its own internal workings with data structures/caches and what not. All callbacks that may exist are maintained and the app state is straightforward. But I'm not clear what happens if the app "dies" at some point during the upload. It seems that any callbacks/notifications are dead. According to the API documentation- the uploading is handled by a separate process. Therefor the upload will continue and my app will be awakened at some point in the future to handle completion. But the object "aNewProfilePicture" is non existant at that point and all callbacks/objects are gone. I don't understand what context exists at this point. How am I supposed to ensure consistency in my DB and UI (For instance update the "successfullyUploaded" property for that user)? Do I need to re-work everything touching the DB or UI to correspond with the new API and work in a context free environment?

I want to read a bunch of text files, by loading them as resources using the context classloader. URL url = Thread.currentThread() .getContextClassloader() .getResource("folder/foo.txt"); Is there some way to get a list of resources whose names match a given pattern? For eg: URL[] matchingUrls = someLibrary.getMatchingResources("folder/*.txt"); Libraries like Spring can scan the classpath to find classes with a given annotation, so I am wondering if there something similar to load a bunch of resources.

Which messaging interfaces can BlackBerry apps modify?

Does the native Blackberry API allow for the modification of any messaging interface? For example, I'd like to be able to build an app that added a button at the bottom of a received message which says 'translate this'. I've heard that this kind of thing is possible using J2ME plus the native BlackBerry API. Can this be done for all kinds of messages, eg SMS, email and BB messaging? The translation aspect is not relevant, it just provides the context for the kind of feature I'm after.

In python, what does len(list) do?

My doubt is that if the len(list) calculates the length of the list everytime it is called or it returns the value of the builtin counter.I have a context where i need to check the length of list everytime in a loop, likelistData = [] for value in ioread(): if len(listData)=25: processlistdata() clearlistdata() listData.append(value) Should I check len(listData) every iteration, or can I have a counter for the length of the list.

Is it abuse to put application/business logic inside of jQuery plugins?

Is it appropriate to create jQuery plugins which are specific to a single page? I've been creating generic plugins that are not tied to any context and contain no business logic, but some people I've talked to suggest that almost all javascript, including business logic and logic specific to a single page, should be inside of jQuery plugins. Is it appropriate to have a validateformXYZ plugin which validates a specific HTML form? I'm buying into jQuery 100% but am not sure if this is a misuse or not.

How to determine expected license serial number by viewing an EXE File?

I was attempting to install an exe that requires a serial number before the install, which the vendor has not provided to us yet. This got my wheels turning about whether there is any information that can be gained from viewing an exe using a hex editor/VI/etc? Using VI to view an exe, I can see some sections of plain text, but it is difficult to determine what it refers to without any context around it. Is it possible to determine any information by reading an exe? Thanks

NEED your opinion on .net Profile class VS session vars

To save trips to sql db in my older apps, I store *dozens of data points about the current user in an array and then store the array in a session. For example, info that might be used repeatedly during user’s session might be stored… Dim a(7) as string a(0) = “FirstName” a(1) = “LastName” a(2) = “Address” a(3) = “Address2” a(4) = “City” a(5) = “State” a(6) = “Zip” session.add(“s_a”, a) *Some apps have an array 100 in size. That is something I learned in my asp classic days. Referencing the correct index can be laborsome and I find it difficult to go back and add another data point in the array grouped with like data. For example, suppose I need to add Middle Initial to the array as a design alteration. Unless I redo the whole index mapping, I have to stick Middle Initial in the next open slot, which might be in the 50s. NOW, I am considering doing something easier to reference each time (eliminating the need to know the index of the value wanted). So I am looking to do this… session.add(“Firstname”, “FirstName”) session.add(“Lastname”, “LastName”) session.add(“Address”, “Address”) etc. BUT, before I do this, I would like some guidance. I am afraid this might be less efficient, even though easier to use. I don’t know if a new session object is created for each data point or if there is only one session object, and I am adding a name/value pair to that object? If I am adding a name/value pair to a single object, that seems like a good idea. Does anyone know? Or is there a more preferred way? Built-in Profile class? Re: Profile class I have an internal debate about scope. It seems that the .net Profile class is good for storing app-SPECIFIC user settings (i.e. style theme, object display properties, user role, etc.) The examples I give are information whose values are selected/edited by the user to customize the application experience. This information is not typically stored/edited elsewhere in the app db. But when you have data that 1) is stored already in the app db and 2) can be altered by other users (in this case: company reps may update client's status, address, etc.), then the persistence of the Profile data may be an issue. In this case, the Profile would need to be reset at the beginning and dropped like a session.abandon at the end of each user's session to prevent reloading info that had since been edited by someone. I believe this is possible, but not sure Currently, I use the session array to store both scopes, app-specific and user-specific data. If my session plan is good, I think I will create a class to set/get values from the session also. I appreciate your thoughts. I would like to know how others have handled this type of situation. Windows 7 Start Menu Items Missing

If I click the start menu - All Programs almost all my installed programs seem to be missing from the start menu despite some of them being on the initial regulalry used screen. As far as I can see this has happened within the last week possibly after windows updates installed. Does anyone else have this issue? Anyone know a fix? I have looked in all the locations I can think of for start menu items and can't see them anywhere so it does actually look like they have been removed. I tried as system restore that didn't work.

User mapping lost after manual failover

I have two Microsoft SQL Server instances set up for mirroring each with a number of databases. There are a number of logins and for each database one or more user/login mappings. When I restore a backup of database I always have to redo the login/user mappings. I understand this because the logins are per database server. So after restoring the databases on the pricipal I redid the login/user mappings. This was not possible for the mirror because the databases were 'restoring'. After a manual failover I could not use the databases because user credentials were missing. This was not unexpected, so I did the login/user mapping again. I did a manual failover again to make the initial pricipal, which was now the mirror, principal again. To my surprise I could not use the databases because the login/user mappings were gone. Is this the expected behaviour?

Are there “server-side comments” in JSF / Seam / RichFaces?

With the JSF/Seam/RichFaces stack, is there a way to mark up comments (on XHTML pages) so that they will not be included in the HTML output? I.e., something like JSP's <%-- comments --%>, as opposed to normal . I heard that facelets.SKIP_COMMENTS context-param migth do this for normal HTML comments, but is there any other option? (After all, there might be some comments that you want included in the page output and some that you don't.)

PS-Special way is in the context that the entire SMS with all its attributes are stored in 1 entry and any the attributes can be retrieved back easily.

How can I associate .sh files with Cygwin?

I'd like to run a long rsync command in Cygwin by double clicking on a .sh file in Windows. It must start in the file's containing directory (e.g. /cygdrive/c/scripts/) so that relative paths work. Anyone gotten this to work? Note: I've just found chere, a Cygwin package that manages Windows context menus (Bash Prompt Here). It might have some clues.

Parsing timestamp with Python2.4

I want to parse a timestamp from a log file that has been written via datetime.datetime.now().strftime('%Y%m%d%H%M%S') and then compute the number of seconds that have passed since this timestamp. I know I could do it with datetime.datetime.strptime to get back a datetime object and then compute a timedelta. Problem is, the strptime function has been introduced with Python 2.5 and I'm using Python2.4.4 (an upgrade is not possible in my context). Any easy way to do this?

Run preseed commands as specific user / switching users

Beside the usual setup where I create a normal user foo, I want to run a few d-i preseed/late_command commands as that foo user. My initial thought was to simply call those commands with sudo, e.g: d-i preseed/late_command in-target echo "<pwd>" | sudo -Si <command>. This works for some sort of commands. However the problem is that some of the commands load up shell scripts which require to not be run with sudo. Issuing a su -c "<command>" would be an alternative, but su does not offer the possibility to read the password from stdin. Is it safe to jump around between the users using su (And if yes, how do I provide the stdin? and does it work or just result in a su: must be run from a terminal) or would this cause issues?

Possible to alert server to iphone settings change?

I'm working on giving our users context-specific PUSH notification settings, similar to what Facebook has in their settings menu. As far as I can tell though, there's no way to actually notify our server of these changes until the user actually launches the app. Is this correct? Is there any mechanism provided for immediately alerting our servers to a settings change?

Access static Method in GDB

I recently discovered the GDB in Xcode which makes up for some functionality which IMHO seems to be lacking in Xcode. So I can do the following in GDB: (gdb) po [LoginManager sharedSession].loginToken 20D52FE9-3573-437E-9A65-846572B63726 However, I have another Service class, which is currently not loaded so I get the following error: (gdb) po [SessionService displaySessionInfoForToken:@"XXX"] No symbol "SessionService" in current context. I don't understand why the LoginManager can be loaded but not the SessionService.

Our company has 100,000s+ photos, how to store and browse/find these efficiently?

We currently store our photos in a structure like this: folder\1\10000 - 19999.JPG|ORF|TIF (10 000 files) folder\2\20000 - 29999.JPG|ORF|TIF (10 000 files) etc... They are stored on 4 different 2TB D-link NASes attached and shared on our office network (\\nas1, \\nas2, and so on...) Problems: 1) When a client (Windows only, Vista and 7) wishes to browse the let's say \\nas1\folder\1\ folder, performance is quite poor. A problem. List takes a long time to generate in explorer window. Even with icons turned off. 2) Initial access to the NAS itself is sometimes slow. Problem. SAN disks too expensive for us. Even with iSCSI interface/switch technology. I've read a lot of tech pages saying that storing 100 000+ files in one single folder shouldn't be a problem. But we don't dare go there now that we experience problems on a 10K level. All input greatly appreciated, /T
