• Win 8 start screen resolution

  My screen resolution is 1280x1024 running Win 8 RP I formatted my computer and reinstalled Win 8 CP because I had too many BSODs. When I installed Win 8 CP and created a local account. I had 5(or 6) tiles per column. But once I switched to the Microsoft account to get my synced wallpaper and lock-screen, the Start screen resolution changed and I got a max 3 tiles per column. The size of all metro apps including the Settings app changed and became awkwardly bigger. Is there a way to get back 5 tiles per column? Essentially changing the resolution of the start screen?

• Why does Resource Monitor in windows 7 show half my memory as "Hardware Reserved"?

  Does anyone know why in Windows 7 Resource Monitor shows that I have 8 GB of RAM installed on my computer, but I only have 3.2 GB available as 4.8 GB are in "Hardware Reserve". I researched this issue and tried going into msconfig and making sure that in the boot options the number of processors and max memory options were turned off. I also opened the computer up and reseated each of the memory sticks while clearing out any dust that was in there. Some info on the system I am using: OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit Edition CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9750 Memory: 4 X 2GB DDR2 memory Motherboard: MS-7548 (Aspen) Any help would be much appreciated.

• Swap image with jquery and show zoom image

  Hi there, On my site I have 4 thumbnail product images that when clicked on swap the main image. This part is working okay. However, on the main image I'm also trying to use the jQZoom script. The zoom script works for the most part, except that the zoomed image always displays the zoom of the first image, rather than the one selected.   I have a Person model and an Address Model: class Person < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :address accepts_nested_attributes_for :address end class Address < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :person end In my people controller I have @person.build_address in my new action. My forms builds correctly. The problem is that when I submit the form, a person record and an address record is created but they aren't linked via the address_id column in the Person table. • PHP Get images from a UL list

  I have a long UL list and each LI contains an image tag, dynamically generated from SLideshowPro Director. I need to get the widths of ALL the images inside the UL to use in a CSS width calculation. I have been able to get the image width for the first item, but not all. My PHP is pretty limited, but do I have to make this list into an ARRAY first to allow me to get all the widths? And how do i do that?? These images contain very long id's generated by the CMS, so reading through a directory is not possible, as the images in cache bare not relation to the file names that are output to the HTML page. It has to all be done from the content that's sent to the page. Or could I even use JQuery to do this??

• JBoss DataSource - How can ConnectionCount be larget than MaxSize?

  I am running JBoss 4.0.5GA and I have stumbled upon a strange scenario (In my eyes anyway). When I decreases the <max-connections> to 1 for a Quartz DataSource and restart the server everything works fine. When I check the JMX console I can see that ConnectionCount and MaxConnectionInUseCount are both 2. The question is, how can the ConnectionCount be higher than the pool MaxSize (Which is 1 in JMX console as expected)? As a note I did this to try to trigger a production problem I have from time to time where a Quartz DB connection cannot be retrieved for some odd reason (Pool not full).

Is there a solution for this? For instance, the double quotes are translated to Chinese-cased double quotes: 'pictures_h2'=>“??????????   I have fibre broadband with speeds up to 38mbs, my Dell D600 has its max 2gb ram and has an ATI Mobility RADEON 9000 4xAGP 32mb card in it...Its TV support it says is NTSC or PAL in S-video and composite modes with a 7-pin mini-DIN connector (optional S-video to composite video adapter cable) and a vga port which i am using at the moment... The laptop runs Windows XP, an 80g HD with only windows + necessary updates and anti virus software on it..... There is HDMI on the TV, but not the laptop Fairly slow moving and close up pictures arent too bad, but when the movment is fast(a shot on goal) or in the distance, I cant see the ball and the images go out of focus.

• Display two images side by side on an HTML Page

  I am trying to place two images of the same size side-by-side. If I use a "table" then I am able to display both images side-by-side. But in my CSS Stylesheet I am using a custom format for the table and this shows on the page containing the images too. But I want to just display both images without any custom background or border etc. I tried using "div", "span", "ul" & "li" etc. but failed in each case. How can I place two images (of same size) in a single line, without using a "table"? • Poor TCP loopback throughput on Windows

  I measured the throughput of a locally bound TCP socket connection on my computer (Intel Q9550, 64 GB RAM, Windows XP 64 bit) using iperf. I got dissatisfying results (around 1.6 Gbit/s) each time, no matter how I tweaked the TCP settings (buffer length, window size, max segment size, no delay). I got similar results when I tried netperf. Now, I understand (from sources like these) that the average throughput of a loopback connection should be around 5 Gbit/s. What could be the reasons for such poor performance?

• Firefox 11 Bookmarks Toolbar too Tall

  After updating to Firefox 11, my Bookmarks Toolbar is unpleasantly tall. This link implies that it's due to the presence of separators in my toolbar. I tried adding the suggested CSS in post 5 to my userChrome.css file, but this did nothing. I have also tried #PersonalToolbar {max-height:10px !important;} But this simply truncates the bottom of the toolbar. Does anyone know how to change the size of the bookmarks toolbar to match Firefox 10? More info: Here is a screenshot of my Bookmarks Toolbar. I'm using OSX 10.6.8 with the default theme. I have "View Toolbars Customize Use small icons" enabled. I'm also using the LiveClick 0.4.2.0 extension, but disabling it does not fix the issue.

But it only says I can use 4.99GB out of 16GB. Motherboard is P55-GD65 (MS-7583) Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 1066/1333/1600*/2000*/2133* (OC) DRAM, 16GB Max Windows (Above screenshot specifies that I am on a System type: 64-bit OS) CPU-z Microsoft says that the physical memory limit on a 64 bit win7 professional operating system is 192GB.   My laptop monitor's native resolution is 1280x800 and it just isnt big enough for me. I tried to set the resolution higher, but my graphics card only showed options upto 1280x800, and I figured that was the max res my card would allow. I found a monitor out on the street a few days ago and its native resolution is 1024x768. I have been playing around with it a bit. I was looking under the resolutions for it, and I can set it upto 1400x1050, so apparently my card allows for more than 1280x800, so why can't I set my laptop monitor to higher?

• Is 50% download speed on a wireless G network normal?

  I have a wired connection of about 36Mb/s, but my wireless speed is max at about 18-19Mb/s. I have a WRT54G-TM (T-Mobile, 802.11G) router with DD-WRT firmware - I've upgraded it to latest build. Done some settings changes: changed channel - 13 wireless network mode - G-only ACK Timing - 0 Fragmentation Threshold and RTS Threshold - 2304 Basic Rate - All Signal/Noise ratio: -46/-94, signal quality ~50-60%. Is this normal with G networks? Edit: The AP is located about 2 meters from laptop, no walls or metal objects, but its next to a TV. I've done a channel scan (had problems locating it, go to "Status - Wireless - Site survey" - lame naming) and everybody else is on channels 1 and 6. Switched to channel 11 but it didn't help. As for trasmit power I got best results with default 71mw. The antenna might be a factor, I'm using the default 2 antennas.

  I have to use the On-Screen Keyboard of Windows 7 for typing: (In case you haven't used it yet, you can get it via: All Programs - Accessories - Ease of Access - On-Screen Keyboard or simply search for "osk.exe") It offers a feature to "hover" about the buttons. Microsoft describes it as the following: In hovering mode, you use a mouse or joystick to point to a key for a predefined period of time, and the selected character is typed automatically. There is my specific problem. The predefined period of time is too long to be useful for me. The minimum amount of time is 0.5 seconds (max. 3 seconds). Is there any way to alter this value to something < 0.5? For example via editing the registry?
