  • GPL exception that allows linking to free licenses only?

    There is the GPL license and the linking exception which allows closed-source programs to use the program as a library. There is also the slightly more restrictive LGPL (more restrictive than GPL with exception since it requires that the user can change the library in the resulting project, etc.). And there is the Cygwin exception that allows linking to open source programs. I see clear advantages: Open-Source programs may use the library. People may use these programs for closed-source programs, but then they lose the permission to use the (GPL) library. However, there are two things I don't like about the Cygwin exception: - Its legal status is disputed - I keep hearing that it is basically worthless - It requires certification by the OSI, I would rather have certification by FSF Is there an exception to the GNU General Public License that meets my requirements?

    I am very new to Javascript. I am running to a problem and don't know how to solve it. Could you please help? Basically, I want to create some textboxes and checkboxes in a form. Then I have to validate those fields, and add the values of the checkboxes if they are selected. One of the textboxes asking for how many semesters attended, and 3 checkboxes with value of 100, 1000, and 750. Whichever checkbox is selected, it should multiply its value to the number of semesters attended. For example if the first two checkboxes are selected then totalCost = (100+1000)* semester.   • Why does my sharepoint web part event handler lose the sender value on postback?

    I have a web part which is going to be a part of pair of connected web parts. For simplicity, I am just describing the consumer web part. This web part has 10 link buttons on it. And they are rendered in the Render method instead ofCreateChildControls as this webpart will be receiving values based on input from the provider web part. Each Link Button has a text which is decided dynamically based on the input from provider web part. When I click on any of the Link Buttons, the event handler is triggered but the text on the Link Button shows up as the one set in CreateChildControls. When I trace the code, I see that the CreateChildControls gets called before the event handler (and i think that resets my Link Buttons). How do I get the event handler to show me the dynamic text instead?
