• How to get import custom tasks more than once without warning message?

  I'm using some custom tasks from MSBuild Extension Pack (MEP). My projects are splitted among many files. In those files I import the MEP tasks using (twice or three times in two/three files). I receive the warning message when doing this like: ... warning MSB4011: "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\ExtensionPack\MSBuild.ExtensionPack.tasks" cannot be imported again. It was already imported at "D:...\Tasker.proj (5,3)". This is most likely a build authoring error. This subsequent import will be ignored. Does anyone know how to get rid of this warning message? Please help!

  Consider this code (type names genericised for the purposes of example): // Bound to ListBox.ItemsSource _items = new ObservableCollection<Item>(); // ...Items are added here ... // Specify custom IComparer for this collection view _itemsView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(_items) ((ListCollectionView)_itemsView).CustomSort = new ItemComparer(); When I set CustomSort, the collection is sorted as I expect. However I require the data to re-sort itself at runtime in response to the changing of the properties on Item. The Item class derives from INotifyPropertyChanged and I know that the property fires correctly as my data template updates the values on screen, only the sorting logic is not being called. I have also tried raising INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged passing an empty string, to see if a generic notification would cause the sorting to be initiated. No bananas. EDIT In response to Kent's suggestion I thought I'd point out that sorting the items using this has the same result, namely that the collection sorts once but does not re-sort as the data changes: _itemsView.SortDescriptions.Add( new SortDescription("PropertyName", ListSortDirection.Ascending));

  My application requires events to be fired based on some specific activities that happen. I'm trying to determine if I should create my own event handling system using the Java EventObject with custom listeners similar to Java AWT Or should I use a JMS implementation? I was considering either apache's Qpid or ActiveMQ solution. I'm exploring these options at the moment and was wondering if anyone has experience with Qpid or ActiveMQ and can offer some advise (e.g., pros, cons to consider, etc) Also, if anyone has any suggestions for building a simple event handling system... if it's even worth while to consider this over a JMS based solution.

• How can I access IEnumerable<T> extension methods on my custom subclass of BindingList<T>?

  I have a custom subclass of BindingList<T> that I want to execute a LINQ query over using the handy extension methods. For example: public int GetSum(MyList<T> list) { return list.Sum(x => x.Value); } But the compiler complains that it can't resolve Sum because it doesn't recognize list as an IEnumerable<T>, which it obviously is, because this works: public int GetSum(MyList<T> list) { return ((IEnumerable<T>)list).Sum(x => x.Value); } Anyone have a clever way I can avoid the ugly and unecessary cast?

• Should I use custom exceptions to control the flow of application?

  Is it a good practise to use custom business exceptions (e.g. BusinessRuleViolationException) to control the flow of user-errors/user-incorrect-inputs??? The classic approach: I have a web service, where I have 2 methods, one is the 'checker' (UsernameAlreadyExists()) and the other one is 'creator' (CreateUsername())... So if I want to create a username, I have to do 2 roundtrips to webservice, 1.check, 2.if check is OK, create. What about using UsernameAlreadyExistsException? So I call only the 2. web service method (CrateUsername()), which contains the check and if not successfull, it throws the UsernameAlreadyExistsException. So the end goal is to have only one round trip to web service and the checking can be contained also in other web service methods (so I avoid calling the UsernameAlreadyExists() all the times..). Furthermore I can use this kind of business error handling with other web service calls completely avoiding the checking prior the call.

• Custom http service responds fine to local IP address but NOT to localhost or 127.0.0.1

  I'm trying to connect to a custom http service written by another developer. The service responds fine on a local IP address and port number. Such as: http://10.1.1.1:1234 but it does NOT respond to http://localhost:1234 or http://127.0.0.1:1234 The service is a simple single function application written in VC++ that takes an http post string and returns another string. I'm trying to all it from C# using HttpWebRequest.GetResponse, but I can reproduce the same problem manually from a web browser... Test environment is Windows 2008 Server. Bottom line I'm looking for some troubleshooting tips to help the other developer fix his code.

  Hi, I have been trying to create a new google custom search engine, but when I try some query,the search engine it is not giving me the expected search result.On some queries it is working fine, but on other queries, it says"no result". I tried adding the URL of the website that I wanted to search for, but there are certain pages and keywords that are not coming up in the search result when I try to search for the keyword of that page. I tired adding both the main page URL and the URL of the sub page that I want to search for, but nothing is working. There are some sub pages to the main URL that are coming in the search result.

• Using unmanaged code, how can I find a type that has a given custom attribute assigned to it?

  I had thought I could enumerate the types using IMetaDataImport.EnumTypeDefs and for each of the tokens returned, call IMetaDataImport.EnumCustomAttributes. This works, in so much as I get an array of mdCustomAttribute tokens. Using these tokens I can get a metadata token representing the Type of the returned custom attribute, by calling IMetaDataImport.GetCustomAttributeProps. Comparing my results against ILDASM, I can see that this matches the "CustomAttribute Type" that ILDASM reports. However, I cannot work out how to determine the "CustomAttributeName" that ILDASM reports. This is what I really want! While I would be interested in knowing how to get the CustomAttributeName, I would settle for an alternate approach to solving the problem.

  I have a client who wants his custom-written CRM to be able to access his sales people's emails so that, effectively, a history of email conversations between customer and salesperson is stored inside the CRM's database. The CRM is written in VB 2008 and the database is SQL Server 2008. The only email these people use, in the shop and on the road, is GMAIL. Each sales person has their own GMAIL address. Thats how they operate. If they're on the road and respond to a customer's email inquiry about a product, they would like that email conversation to be stored in a table in the database. I think thats the part I cant wrap my head around. How to get access to the email data (knowing the user id and password) and doing so from VB 2008

There are a couple of options already defined (see: www.iana.org/assignments/tcp-parameters/) but I want to come up with my very own. (For experimenting/research.) How can I get Java to write (and then read) some custom data to the options field? Bonus question: if it cannot be done with Java. what kind of application can do this? (No, I don't really feel like messing with some kernel-level TCP/IP stack implementation, I want to keep it app level.) Thanks!

  How should I properly implement data access in my custom model binders? Like in controllers I use IContentRepository and then have it create an instance of its implementing class in constructor. So I have everything ready for incorporating IoC (DI) at a later stage. Now I need something similar in model binder. I need to make some DB lookups in the binder. I'm thinking of doing it the same way I do it in controllers but I am open to suggestion.   The documentation is pretty confusing on this one: The implementation of accessor methods you write for subclasses of NSManagedObject is typically different from those you write for other classes. If you do not provide custom instance variables, you retrieve property values from and save values into the internal store using primitive accessor methods. You must ensure that you invoke the relevant access and change notification methods (willAccessValueForKey:, didAccessValueForKey:, willChangeValueForKey:, didChangeValueForKey:, willChangeValueForKey:withSetMutation:usingObjects:, and didChangeValueForKey:withSetMutation:usingObjects:). NSManagedObject disables automatic key-value observing (KVO, see Key-Value Observing Programming Guide) change notifications, and the primitive accessor methods do not invoke the access and change notification methods. In accessor methods for properties that are not defined in the entity model, you can either enable automatic change notifications or invoke the appropriate change notification methods.   This question is related to this, hopefully better phrased. I would like to serve a custom 404 page from ASP.NET MVC. I have the route handler and all the infrastructure set up to ensure that nonexistent routes are handled by a single action: public ActionResult Handle404() { Response.StatusCode = 404; return View("NotFound"); } Problem: IIS serves back its own content (some predefined message) when I set Response.StatusCode to 404 before returning the content. On the VS development web server, this works as intended - the status code of the HTTP response is 404 while my content (the NotFound view) is served. I believe that when the IIS processing pipeline sees that the application returns 404, it simply replaces the whole response with its own. What setting in IIS affects this behavior? I do not have access to the IIS installation so I can not investigate this - however, I can ask the hosting provider to tweak the configuration for me if I know what exactly needs to be changed.

• iPhone SDK: Can a UIButton with custom images display the title?

  If I create a custom UIButton with images for UIControlState normal and UIControlStateSelected, am I still supposed to be able to display the title for the button? Currently I can't.   Using Visual Studio 2008, I need to create a custom web form that when picked acts like the web content form, by providing a dialog that lets you pick a master page. I have looked through the webform.zip template and thought I had a clue, but trying different combinations has baffled me as it either doesn't appear or doesn't work. Also when you set the project type to Web and sub project type to CSharp it doesn't appear, so I don't know if this part of the cause, because I would of hoped that the SupportsMasterPage element would of caused this dialog to appear, if it is a web item, but no luck. Frown Any ideas? p.s. I have used my googling resources to the maximum so unsure what to do.

• Why are controls within custom panel (C# winforms) disappearing in designer?

  I have been able to create a custom C# winforms control that is basically a panel with a fixed banner (header/footer). I want to base other user controls on this "banner panel". I've gotten past the problem with the designer here. I can successfully add controls to the inner content panel. Everything looks fine while designing. However, when I recompile, the controls I added to the content panel disappear. They are still there (in code) but aren't displayed in the designer. Is there any thing that I need to do to set the drawing order of the controls?

These areas won't have buttons or any graphics - they'll be invisible. 3 different methods will be called depending on which third of the cell the user taps i.e. || decrementFooCount || viewFooDetails || incrementFooCount || The cell has a few labels on it that need to be visible at all times - the fooName and fooCount. I'm thinking perhaps three hidden UIButtons over the cell? I also need to maintain the swipe to delete default behavior.

  I've been looking into some of the WYSIWYG editors (TinyMCE, FCKEditor, etc.) and they all seem to offer a lot of options. However, one vital feature that seems to lack is a simple "add custom html" option which would allow the user to input any of these embed-snippets you find all around the web these days, for example a youtube video. This is different than a "edit html/source" feature as that requires actual knowledge of html and there is the risk of the user writing invalid code. Another issue that I couldn't find much about is the output html. How would I make sure that this output causes no security invulnerabilities? Even when the user has the ability to add his own html? So, basically, is there an open source WYSIWYG editor which covers these 2 features?

  I am using FontLabel to display varying lengths of texts in a custom font. I size the FontLabel using the following : CGSize size = [myString sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:[[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getFontSize]] constrainedToSize:CGSizeMake(290, 4000) lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; For some reason, this always presents a Fontlabel where the text starts at a different space from the top. Sometimes the text begins at the correct location. Other times, it appears either too high or too low. Would appreciate some help in how to solve this issue.

  I am very new to Fluent NHibernate and I have a problem that I cant find the answer to. I have a string column in my database table, containing a mathematical expression i.e: "10 + 15 * 5". On my entity I have a property that I call Formula and this returns a class that contains the mathematical "formula" (not as a string). This is coming from sfThumbnailPlugin because the value of $file is null. My question is why is $file null?
