• SQL Server Express 2008 R2 Installation error at Windows 7

  Hello, I created install script that will install SQL Server 2008 R2 on windows XP SP3, windows vista and windows 7. One of the command that i used in the installation is for silent installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. When i install it on windows XP everything works just fine but when i try to install it on Windows 7 i get an error. What am I doing wrong?   I want to extract all the properties from my pom.xml into a properties-file. These are the common properties like dependency-versions, plugin-versions and directories. I'm using the properties-maven-plugin, but its not working as i want it to. The essential part of my pom.xml: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>properties-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.0-alpha-1</version> <executions> <execution> <phase>initialize</phase> <goals> <goal>read-project-properties</goal> </goals> <configuration> <files> <file>${basedir}/pom.properties</file> </files> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> Now when i run "mvn properties:read-project-properties" i get the following error: [INFO] One or more required plugin parameters are invalid/missing for 'properties:read-project-properties' [0] Inside the definition for plugin 'properties-maven-plugin' specify the following: <configuration> ... <files>VALUE</files> </configuration>. The pom.properties-file is located in the same dir as the pom.xml. What can i do to let the properties-maven-plugin read my properties-file?

• Maven WTP webapp with maven-eclipse-plugin but without m2eclipse

  I use the eclipse:eclipse goal to generate an Eclipse Project environment. The deployment works fine. The goal creates the var classpath entries for all needed dependencies. With m2eclipse there was the Maven Container which defines an export folder which was WEB-INF/lib for me. But i don't want to rely on m2eclipse so i don't want to use it anymore. the class path entries which are generated by eclipse:eclipse goal don't have such a export folder. While booting the servlet container with WTP it publishes all resources and classes except the libraries to the context. Whats missing to publish the needed libs, or isn't that possible without m2eclipse integration? • Advice? SSO in N-tiered SOA with mixture of REST and SOAP services

  Hi gang, We are moving to SSO in our N-tiered SOA applications. If all the services were SOAP, I'd be ok with just the WS-Security, WS-Trust, WS-Federation set of protocols. My problem is that many of the services are RESTful (ironic) and those protocols do not address REST services. What is your advice for SSO protecting the REST services in an N-tiered SOA architecture with the following requirements: ideally claims-based identity information available to the REST services original user (eg. bootstrap) information must flow through the tiers so that each service can "ActAs" or "OnBehalfOf" the user support sequences like: WebApp -- REST Svc -- SOAP Svc WebApp -- REST Svc1 -- REST Svc2 WebApp -- SOAP Svc -- REST Svc WebApp -- SOAP Svc1 -- SOAP Svc2 support SSO (and SSOff) service/web app platforms: ASP.Net and WCF Java end-user client platforms: .Net (WSE 3.0 and WCF) flash 10 java javascript and AJAX Normally I'm good at climbing / bashing my way through walls, but this one's knocked me flat. • testing Clojure in Maven

  I am new at Maven and even newer at Clojure. As an exercise to learn the language, I am writing a spider solitaire player program. I also plan on writing a similar program in Scala to compare the implementations (see my post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2571267/modern-java-alternatives-closed). I have configured a Maven directory structure containing the usual src/main/clojure and src/test/clojure directories. My pom.xml file includes the clojure-maven-plugin. When I run "mvn test", it displays "No tests to run", despite my having test code in the src/test/clojure directory. As I misnaming something?   I'm seeing something really strange happening with some projects I'm working on. I used log4net in an MVC web site and this was working great. I then was working on a totally unrelated Console application which uses the SharePoint API and as soon as I include the following line (other lines don't cause the problem) SPLimitedWebPartManager spWebPartManager = web.GetLimitedWebPartManager("http://blah/blah.aspx?PageView=Shared", System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope.Shared); I get the following message in the console app log4net:ERROR XmlConfigurator: Failed to find configuration section 'log4net' in the application's .config file. Check your .config file for the <log4net> and < configSections> elements. The configuration section should look like: <section n ame="log4net" type="log4net.Config.Log4NetConfigurationSectionHandler,log4net" / > log4net:ERROR XmlConfigurator: Failed to find configuration section 'log4net' in the application's .config file. Check your .config file for the <log4net> and < configSections> elements. The configuration section should look like: <section n ame="log4net" type="log4net.Config.Log4NetConfigurationSectionHandler,log4net" / > I get this twice after a small delay. The delay is probably the request to get the web part manager from the page but I'm not sure why this log4net error is showing up in this project. I've gone through the code and bin folders etc. and found no trace of any log4net mentions. Any ideas why this might be happening?

  Hi, I have Silverlight problem. I have to deal with fairly large legacy application that has some web services exposed (regular asmx, not wcf). What I need to do is to build Silverlight app that consumes those web services. Due to business logic I need to have the same web method to be called from Silverlight app synchronously. I was able to build web services consumption but only asynchronously because that would be default Silverlight behavior. Is there a way to make asynchronous calls synchronous in Silverlight? I looked here and googled around but came across only wcf examples. I would appreciate if somebody would get me a code example for regular asmx web service. I use Silverlight 4.0. Thanks!

  I have an Area object which has many SubArea children: public class Area { ... public virtual IList<SubArea> SubAreas { get; set; } } he children are mapped as a uni-directional non-inverse relationship: public class AreaMapping : ClassMap<Area> { public AreaMapping() { HasMany(x => x. SubAreas).Not.Inverse().Cascade.AllDeleteOrphan(); } } The Area is my aggregate root. When I save an area (e.g. Session.Save(area) ), the area gets saved and the child SubAreas automatically cascaded. I want to add a save or update event listener to catch whenever my areas and/or subareas are persisted. Say for example I have an area, which has 5 SubAreas. If I hook into SaveEventListeners: Configuration.EventListeners.SaveEventListeners = new ISaveOrUpdateEventListener[] { mylistener }; When I save the area, Mylistener is only fired once only for area (SubAreas are ignored). I want the 5 SubAreas to be caught aswell in the event listener. If I hook into SaveOrUpdateEventListeners instead: Configuration.EventListeners.SaveOrUpdateEventListeners = new ISaveOrUpdateEventListener[] { mylistener }; When I save the area, Mylistener is not fired at all. Strangely, if I hook into SaveEventListeners and SaveOrUpdateEventListeners: Configuration.EventListeners.SaveEventListeners = new ISaveOrUpdateEventListener[] { mylistener }; Configuration.EventListeners.SaveOrUpdateEventListeners = new ISaveOrUpdateEventListener[] { mylistener }; When I save the area, Mylistener is fired 11 times: once for the area, and twice for each SubArea! (I think because NHIbernate is INSERTing the SubArea and then UPDATING with the area foreign key). Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here, and how I can get the listener to fire once for each area and subarea?

First let me tell you what I've done and what I've got till now . 1-I Installed Windows 7 64 Bit on my computer 2-I tried to install SQl Server 2005 "Developer Edition" 2.1 But in "System Configuration Check" Page i recieved 2 warning , One for "IIS Feature Requirement" and another for "ASP.NET Version Registration Rquired" . 2.1.1 . I installed "Internet Information Services" from "Turn Windows features on or off" section in control panel 2.1.2 I Enabled reporting service 32 bit from "Inetpub= AdminScripts = adsutil.vbs 2.2 At this stage There was no waring in System Configuration Check 3- So I installed SQl Server 2005 Developer Edition By all default settings 4- I installed Sql Server 2005 Service Pack 3 64 bit Now when when i run "Management Studio" There is no name in "Server name" section . I typed my Computer name Or "." and i got this Error : A network -related instance-specific error occurred while establishinga connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (Provider: Named Pipes Provider , error :40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server ) ( Microsoft SQL Server , Error :2) . I googled some for this Error and some people said follow this instruction: Startsql server 2005Configuration toolsSql Server Surface Configuration AreaSurface Area Configuration for services and Connections But i got this Error : No SQl SErver 2005 Components were found on the specified computer . Either no components are installed , or you are not a administrator on this computer (SQLSAC) I'm really tired because of that , and i don't know what's wrong with this . Some more information : I have no additonal software on my computer , like Antivirus or Proxy I tried all step with "Standard Edition" either , but no difference My user is Administrator I tried more than 5 times all those steps including re-installing Windows 7 . • Extending spring based app

  I have a spring-based Web Service. I now want to build a sort of plugin for it that extends it with beans. What I have now in web.xml is: <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/*-configuration.xml</param-value> </context-param> My core app has main-configuration.xml which declares its beans. My plugin app has plugin-configuration.xml which declares additional beans. Now when I deploy, my build deploys plugin.jar into /WEB-INF/lib/ and copies plugin-configuration.xml into /WEB-INF/classes/ all under main.war. This is all fine (although I think there could be a better solution), but when I develop the plugin, I don't want to have two projects in Eclipse with dependencies. I wish to have main.jar that I include as a library. However, web.xml from main.jar isn't automatically discovered. How can I do this? Bean injection? Bean discovery of some sort? Something else? Note: I expect to have multiple different plugins in production, but development of each of them will be against pure main.jar Thank you.

• Silverlight authentication during startup - how to mimic syncronous behavior?

  I have a Silverlight app that is using the MVVM pattern. I have a WCF service which will allow me to authenticate users (I don't have direct control over that service - assume it is a black box that just returns me the user info and a list of privileges the user has). So, when the app starts up, I want to pull security data from that service. Right now, when I do this, my views and view models can end up getting initialized before the service returns with the security data. This causes problems because the view models need to disable buttons and make things visible/invisible based on the user having certain privileges. Is there a pattern that allows me to prevent the initialization of the views / view models until the WCF call has returned? How would you go about solving this problem as elegantly as possible?

  Hi. I can not make NHibernate 2.1 work in machines without framework 3.X (basically, windows 2000 SP4, although it happens with XP too). NHibernate doc do no mention this. Maybe you can help? • nhibernate not taking mappings from assembly

  Hi I'm using fnh and castle nhib facility. • Cant get the catch statement to catch the custom exception

• Will rel=canonical break site: queries ?

  Our company publishes our software product's documentation using a custom-built content management system using a dynamic URL namespace like this: http://ourproduct.com/documentation/version/pageid Where "version" is the version number to which the documentation applies, and "pageid" is a unique string which identifies that page in our back-end content management system. For example, if content (e.g. a page about configuration best practices) is unchanged from version 3.0 and 4.0 of our product, it'd be reachable by two different URLs: http://ourproduct.com/documentation/3.0/configuration-best-practices http://ourproduct.com/documentation/4.0/configuration-best-practices This URL scheme allows us to scope Google search results to see only documentaiton for a particular product version, like this: configuration site:ourproduct.com/documentation/4.0 But when the user is searching across all versions, we don't want Google to arbitrarily choose one of the URLs to show in results. Instead, we always want the latest version to show up. Hence our planned use of rel=canonical so we can proscriptively tell Google which URL we want to show up if multiple versions are being searched. (Users who do oddball things like searching 2 versions but not all of them are a corner case, so we don't care which version(s) show up in that case-- the primary use-cases we care about is searching one version or searching all versions) But what will happen to scoped searches if we do this? If my rel=canonical URL points to version 4.0, but my search is scoped to 3.0, will Google return a result? Even if you don't know the answer offhand, do you know a site which uses rel=canonical to redirect across folders in a URL namespace. If so, I could run a few Google searches and figure out the answer.

• Control pdb file output from build defintion file

  Hello, I am trying to generate a release build with no pdb files generated. I have seen numerous posts that suggest right-clicking on the project, selecting Properties, going to the Build tab and then to the Advanced... butoon and changing Debug Info to none. This works and all, but I need to do this for a build of ~50 solutions which contain ~25 projects each! Other posts mention editing the appropriate .csproj file, but again, with so many projects, this would take a long time. Is there any way to achieve this via the TFSBuild.proj file? I have tried adding the following to the TFSBuild.proj file, with no luck. <PropertyGroup> <Configuration>Release</Configuration> <Platform>AnyCPU</Platform> </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup> <DebugSymbols>false</DebugSymbols> <DebugType>none</DebugType> <Optimize>true</Optimize> </PropertyGroup> The following line prints out Release|AnyCPU, none, and false, but I still see .pdb file in the $(OutputDir) folder. <Message Text="$Configuration|Platform): $(Configuration)|$(Platform)" /> <Message Text="DebugType is: $(DebugType)"/> <Message Text="DebugSymbols is: $(DebugSymbols)"/> Thanks in advance, Urvi

  Hi We're using the castle scheduler component: http://using.castleproject.org/display/Comp/Castle.Components.Scheduler?showChildren=false I have a wcf service which creates the tasks and that does it's job fine. I then have a console app running (will be a windows service eventually) which should then keep an eye out for tasks to run. Thing is the each create their own scheduler in the DB but they both have the same clusterid. Should the console app be able to run the tasks created by the wcf service? If not - how can i make it do that? Cheers w://
