• Why would cat6 connectors not work with cat5e patch cable?

  I had a naff batch of cat5 connectors (the latching mechanism didn't work) so decided to order in some cat6 connectors in preparation for the inevitable upgrade. My existing reel of for making patch cables is cat5e utp stranded. I made up a few cables and tested them- none of them worked. I recrimped and still nothing. When i check them with a multi-meter not all pins are connected. This reel has always worked with the previous cat5 connectors so I tested the cat6 connectors on a reel of solid cat5e cable and they work fine. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Or what might be at fault? (cable/connectors) and how I can diagnose? Thanks Lee

• Resharper doesn't play well with XAML?

  I've been noticing a pattern with ReSharper (both 4.5 and 5). Very often (almost always) when I have solution-wide analysis turned on, and WPF code in my solution, ReSharper will mark a number of the .xaml.cs files as being broken. When I navigate to the file, sometimes it magically updates and displays no errors, and other times I have to open other files that are not being correctly read and close them again to force resharper to correctly analyze them. I assume it has something to do with the temporary .cs code that is generated with XAML, but does anyone know why this is actually happening, and if there is a work around? Should I just file a bug report with JetBrains? Does anyone else experience this?

• Howto: Configure Spring-WS to publish WSDL files with a '?WSDL' style URL?

  I am trying to configure web service proxying using Mule ESB. I am attempting to do this using Mule's WSProxyService, but after stepping through the corresponding code (with the debugger), it is clear that this class replaces endpoint addresses. The problem is Spring-WS WSDL addresses are of the style http://xxxx/xxxx.wsdl, but WSProxyService expects http://xxxx/xxxx?wsdl or http://xxxx/xxxx&wsdl. It replaces the remote endpoint addresses with the local WSDL address; it cuts the remote WSDL address at the question mark i.e. '?WSDL' is intended to be chopped off, so to create the search term. But because of Spring-WS, this does not work. To break it down: WSProxyService ends up trying to use http://xxxx/xxxx.wsdl to replace http://xxxx/xxxx with http://yyyy/yyyy which fails... leading to actual web service call going direct and not through the proxy. Has anyone ever noticed/solved this problem?? Cheers, Darren

• Delay between printing via lp in opensuse

  I am experiencing a 10-15 second delay when printing multiple documents to a barcode printer in opensuse. I have had the same setup on other systems with older versions of opensuse without any issue. The setup is as follows: The print queue is setup as a "generic with driver Raw Queue". The files being sent down to the printers are simple text files with the lp command: lp -dprinter1 /path/file The printer is a JetDirect compatible device (Intermec brand) with a standard 9100 port socket setup. If I send a multi-page document to the printer, it will print nonstop the multiple pages. If I send 2 or more text files down via separate "lp" commands, the delay will be there between each printout. I've tried multiple different printers and they all experience the same issue.

I use CI's email class from the controller to do mail out, but I discovered that if I use the "mail" protocol, some (not all) users see un-rendered html emails with the html mark up viewable, while others do not. But if I use the "sendmail" protocol, all users get rendered html emails. • systemd initiated uwsgi process shuts down after a while

However, it inexplicably shuts down after being idle for 5 minutes. What could the problem be?

• Repairing malformatted html attributes using c#

  I have a web application with an upload functionality for HTML files generated by chess software to be able to include a javascript player that reproduces a chess game. I do not like to load the uploaded files in a frame so I reconstruct the HTML and javascript generated by the software by parsing the dynamic parts of the file. The problem with the HTML is that all attributes values are surrounded with an apostrophe instead of a quotation mark. I am looking for a way to fix this using a library or a regex replace using c#. • jQuery/AJAX type-ahead/auto-complete

  I have read several articles/questions/forums discussing the best auto-complete plugin for jQuery. After trying several good ones, I've realized a flaw in most. If you are looking up countries and type 'In', a couple of countries show up. If you continue typing I-n-d-i-a, this results in 5 AJAX calls (see http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/6f1bcd69e1.png) its quite natural that India is a subset of In, so why call again? We need to simply filter the retrieved list client-side. Anyone knows about such an implementation? What is the status of the Jquery Autocomplete feature? I read at StackOverflow that it is no longer available with Jquery; but the Jquery website has a 'New' mark besides the link to Autocomplete. Thanks

• Any way to remove IEs black border around submit button in active forms?

  I am implementing a design that uses custom styled submit-buttons. They are quite simply light grey buttons with a slightly darker outer border: input.button { background: #eee; border: 1px solid #ccc; } This looks just right in Firefox, Safari and Opera. The problem is with Internet Explorer, both 6 and 7. Since the form is the first one on the page, it's counted as the main form - and thus active from the get go. The first submit button in the active form receives a solid black border in IE, to mark it as the main action. If I turn off borders, then the black extra border in IE goes away too. I am looking for a way to keep my normal borders, but remove the outline.

• Emacs Column based Narrowing or Folding

  Is there column based narrowing in emacs. I tend narrow in one everything between script tags but that still keeps the original indent (space before var). It would be great if I could actually column narrow to the the beginning of the indent since otherwise the electrict indent tries to bring it to column 0. var foo = 1; var bar = 2; Alternate solution could be to mark the starting indents as uneditable, but I am also not sure how to do this. P.S. I am aware of MMM and NXHTML and html-helper-modes, but I am not looking to use them due to complexities.

  Hi, I engadged a problem with inherited Controls in WinForms, and need some advice on it. I do use a base class for items in a List (selfmade GUI list made of a panel) and some inherited controls that are for each type of data that could be added to the list. There was no problem with it, but I know found out, that it would be right, to make the base-control an abstract class, since it has methods, that need to be implemented in all inherited controls, called from the code inside the base-control, but must not and can not be implemented in the base class. When I mark the base-control as abstract, the VS2008 Designer refuses to load the window. Is there any way to get the Designer work with the base-control made abstract?

• What's the shebang in Facebook URLs for?

  I've just noticed that the long, convoluted Facebook URLs that we're used to now look like this: http://www.facebook.com/example.profile#!/pages/Some-Other-Page/123456789012345 As far as I can recall, earlier this year it was just a normal URL-fragment-like string (starting with #), without the exclamation mark. But now it's a shebang (#!), which I've previously only seen in shell scripts and Perl scripts. Does #! now play some special role in URLs, like for a certain Ajax framework or something since Facebook's interface is now largely Ajaxified? Or is it for some other purpose?

• MVC2: Best Way to Intercept ViewRequest and Alter ActionResult

  I'm building an ASP.NET MVC2 Web Application that requires some sophisticated authentication and business logic that cannot be achieved using the out of the box forms authentication. I'm new to MVC so bear with me... My plan was to mark all restricted View methods with one or more custom attributes (that contain additional data). The controller would then override the OnActionExecuting method to intercept requests, analyze the target view's attributes, and do a variety of different things, including re-routing the user to different places. I have the interception and attribute analysis working, but the redirection is not working as expected. I have tried setting the ActionExecutingContext.Result to null and even have tried spooling up controllers via reflection and invoking their action methods. No dice. • Keep only "lock" a single app open in iOS?

  Is there anyway to "lock" open a single app in iOS? My use case for this is simple. There are many apps and games designed for children. While these applications are appropriate for children, many other applications installed on an iPad are not. But even more so than protecting them from inappropriate content, I would just like to prevent them from leaving the application. They accidentally hit the home button or multi-touch gesture out of the application. I know you can turn gestures off. Developers also have links to their website or other related applications. Kids are constantly exiting the application and then bringing the device to me asking "Can you get me back into the game?" every couple minutes. How can I hand a child an iPad with "Angry Birds" running and make sure only "Angry Birds" runs? Cydia or jailbreak tweaks welcome. Thanks.

  I have following working tree state $ git status foo/bar.txt # On branch master # Unmerged paths: # (use "git reset HEAD <file>..." to unstage) # (use "git add/rm <file>..." as appropriate to mark resolution) # # deleted by us: foo/bar.txt # no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a") File foo/bar.txt is there and I want to get it to the "unchanged state" again (similar to 'svn revert'): $ git checkout HEAD foo/bar.txt error: path 'foo/bar.txt' is unmerged $ git reset HEAD foo/bar.txt Unstaged changes after reset: M foo/bar.txt Now it is getting confusing: $ git status foo/bar.txt # On branch master # Changes to be committed: # (use "git reset HEAD <file>..." to unstage) # # new file: foo/bar.txt # # Changed but not updated: # (use "git add <file>..." to update what will be committed) # (use "git checkout -- <file>..." to discard changes in working directory) # # modified: foo/bar.txt # The same file in both sections, new and modified?
