  Hello Is thare any quickstart guide for programmers for writing DSP-accelerated appliations for TMS320C64x? I have a program with custom algorythm (not the fft, or usial filtering) and I want to accelerate it using multi-DSP coprocessor. So, how should I modify source to move computation from main CPU to DSPs? What limitations are there for DSP-running code? I have some experience with CUDA. In CUDA I should mark every function as being host, device, or entry point for device (kernel). There are also functions to start kernels and to upload/download data to/from GPU. There are also some limitations, for device code, described in CUDA Reference manual. I hope, there is an similar interface and a documentation for DSP.

  In WPF using IDataErrorInfo and Style I want to create form where I can provide end user three different status while validating data To make the scenario more clear 1) I have textbox next to it I have icon which provides end user what kind of input textbox expects - Initial status with information icon 2) As soon as user enter data it validates it and decides whether it is valid or not - most of the time it will show cross (X) icon saying invalid data 3) As it is validating on UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged" it will turn cross icon to green check mark as soon as it gets validated i.e [ ] i (tooltip- Any valid user name ) [Ga ] X (tooltip- Invalid user name. Must be 5 char long) [Gaurav ] * (it will show only correct icon, meaning valid value) How can I achieve this using IDataErrorInfo and Style, I tried doing that but as soon as my form gets loaded it invalidates all the data and shows cross icon at the first time. I want to show different tooltip and different icon for three states (Initial info, Invalid data, Valid data)

  I am trying to use MATCH() and/or LOOKUP() in LibreOffice Calc. I have the "Search criteria = and < must apply to whole cells" and the "Enable regular expressions in formulas" options selected. The item I am looking for is a multi word string. How do I provide a search criteria as a cell reference (E3) in to LOOKUP(E3, B1:B20, C1:C20) and have it match the value in B1:B20 EXACTLY? Right now it is matching partial strings rather than matching the cell values exactly.

• Online OCR website for processing an entire pdf file at one time?

  I am looking for an online OCR website for processing a multi-page pdf file at one time. Free preferably. I know http://www.newocr.com/. If I am correct, it can only OCR one page at a time, by manually clicking "Preview" and then clicking "OCR" for each page. After each page is OCRed, I have to copy out the text result manually too. If my pdf file has 30~ pages, it will be tedious to repeat the above process for each page. I wonder if there is some other online websites that OCR a whole pdf file, without asking me for manual operation? Thanks!

• Why is thread local storage so slow?

  I'm working on a custom mark-release style memory allocator for the D programming language that works by allocating from thread-local regions. It seems that the thread local storage bottleneck is causing a huge (~50%) slowdown in allocating memory from these regions compared to an otherwise identical single threaded version of the code, even after designing my code to have only one TLS lookup per allocation/deallocation. This is based on allocating/freeing memory a large number of times in a loop, and I'm trying to figure out if it's an artifact of my benchmarking method. My understanding is that thread local storage should basically just involve accessing something through an extra layer of indirection, similar to accessing a variable via a pointer. Is this incorrect? How much overhead does thread-local storage typically have? Note: Although I mention D, I'm also interested in general answers that aren't specific to D, since D's implementation of thread-local storage will likely improve if it is slower than the best implementations.

• Are there any code libraries that validate/convert blog comments to XHTML strict?

  I am working on a website in PHP where people can make comments similar to a blog, and I only want particular tags to be allowed. Are there any pre-built libraries that process comments and produce valid XHTML Strict code? I would need to do this in JavaScript so I can generate a live preview like Stack Overflow, plus in PHP before saving it to a MySQL database. The allowed HTML tags will be: strong, em, blockquote, and links (rel=nofollow not required) One way would be to allow people to directly enter the HTML into the comment field but I would prefer to use a simple mark up something like this (can be different - this is an example): *strong* _em_ [blockquote] http://www.link.com I want line breaks to be converted to <br />. Are there any code libraries that do the above?

• How much processor speed and cores do I need for these tasks?

  I am planning to buy a new laptop as I find my current one very slow. My question here is specifically related to RAM size and CPU power. I will mostly be doing development (not much games). I would be dabbling in distributed computing, multithreaded and data intensive parallelizable tasks on multi-cores. For e.g. I would want to be able to Concurrent programming in Scala/Java/Clojure etc. and be able to see parallelization. Furthermore, I would want the RAM to be enough. But from a developer machine standpoint, do you think 4GB RAM and 2.53GHz Dual Core processor would be enough.   Just would like some feedback on the best ftp program (not free). The requirements I'm looking for is: - secure ftp - for use on mac, linux, windows - backup utility with scheduler - for use on more than one computer (multi-license) I'm using wsftp from 2007 right now but it's only good for windows. It's license is only good for one computer. And after some vista updates it's making some strange noises. I tried to turn off the noise (via control panel) and it's still making that noise and I turned off the sound within wsftp too. I like the program but I think it's time to look for a new one. [System.AttributeUsage(System.AttributeTargets.All)] public class Refactor : System.Attribute { private string _message; public Refactor() { _message = string.Empty; } public Refactor(string message) { _message = message; } } Applied to [Refactor("this should be less rubbish")] public virtual void RubbishMethod() { … } Now when someone makes a call to RubbishMethod I'd like the IDE (vs2008) to underline that call in a deep brown colour, similar to if I mark as Obsolete you get a green wave line. Is this possible? I've been racking my brain and hitting the google but I can't find how and where to do this.

• Incorrect site usage report (Sharepoint)

  Hi... After restarting "Windows Sharepoint Services Timer" service the "Site usage report" shows only one day of activity (matches the day we restarted the service) while every other day has zeros. I took a look in the "\LOGS\" dir and is plenty of logs with the visit's information for the whole year! Why the usage report ignores it? I think maybe the log file of the day showed could have some kind of mark that the other ones doesn't... Thanks, Jorge.

• MODI leaking memory

  I have an app where I'm using MODI 2007 to OCR several multi-page tiff files. I have found that when I kick it off on a directory that contains several good tiffs but also some tiffs that cannot be opened in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, then MODI also fails to OCR those "bad" tiffs. When this happens, the app is unable to reclaim any of the memory that was used by MODI to OCR those tiffs. After the tool tries to OCR too many of these "bad" tiffs, the machine runs out of memory and the app crashes. I have tried several code fixes from the web that supposedly fix any MODI memory leaks, but so far none have worked for me. • How to get Windows 7 logon wallpaper to tile to other monitors?

  In 2000/XP/Vista it was easy to set a wallpaper for the logon screen, either manually through tools like Logonstudio or simple registry changes by hand on prepared installation images or through custom group policies. In Windows 7 all this works as usual, but the secondary (or any additional) monitor is just black. The mouse pointer is visible on it but no matter what settings I can't get the wallpaper to tile (or stretch or fill or whatever) over onto it. This makes it hard to OEM/company brand the installation for multi-monitor users. More annoying is the fact that it looks officially supported to brand the logon wallpaper in Windows 7 - as it's made extremely easy... apart from this little catch.

Now I am editing the documents on my Mac using Word 2011. I need to modify the list style; I can create a new multi-level list style from the toolbar dropdown, but I can't right-click to edit an existing one. • opening a file attachment from an outlook email using clickonce and a file association

  Hi, I have a clickonce application (VS2010, .NET 4). I have registered a file association (.task), and this all works well. If I double click a file with the .task extension on the desktop the clickonce application opens and can open the file. If I email the file however, and double click the file from within outlook, I get the open/save dialog. If I click open nothing appears to happen. If I save the file I can open it by double clicking on it. Any ideas why the file does not open from within outlook ? Thanks, Mark

  Hi, My understanding of basic BFS traversal for a graph is: BFS { Start from any node . Add it to que. Add it to visited array While(que is not empty) { remove head from queue. Print node; add all unvisited direct subchilds to que; mark them as visited } } However, if we have to traverse a DIRECTED graph from a given node and not all nodes are accessible from the given node [directly or indirectly] how do we use BFS for the same. Can you please explain in this graph as well: a= b = d = e = d a= c = d Here if the starting node is b , we never print a and c. Am I missing something in the algorithm. P.S: I used "HashMap adj = new HashMap();" to create the adjacencey list to store graph Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  I have a question field with a list of allowed characters : A-Z,0-9,colon (:), question mark (?), comma(,), hyphen(-), apostrophe ('). I have the regex which works fine, in the fashion : $question->addValidator('regex', true, array(<regular expresstion>)) The default error message is something like ''' does not match against pattern '' I want to write a custom error message that says ' is not allowed in this field' Is there a simple way to do it using the existing zend components that I'm missing? Is writing a custom validator the only way to achieve what I'm trying to achieve? If yes, how do I write a custom validator (I looked at the documentation and didn't quite understand how I can customize the error messages) If there is any other way, I'd most appreciate that input too.   I'm looking for a database (DBMS) that is easy to scale out. I would like to have high availability so I need a multi-master cluster, where the data is replicated to two or more physical computers. I would also like to be able to start with one node (no replication), and then scale out to more nodes as needed without a reinstallation or downtime. I would like to have a DBMS that are easy to maintain and manage. It should be easy to add nodes, remove nodes, take live backup and monitor the use of resources. It doesn't have to be a relational database system, so a NoSQL is okey. And I would like to have a free version so I can test it in small scale and compare it with alternatives. What alternatives do I have?

• Url encode and routing?

  I'm using custom routing in a web forms context. I have some titles (part of my custom route) that have say a question mark character. When I URL encode this text ("Question?") and then pass into my route, I get an HTTP ERROR CODE 400. Apparently, the URL encoded text is somehow confusing the routing manager. Can someone provide context and explanation for this? Beyond that, I'm thinking I don't need to URL encode these route data but merely strip out the problem characters. Are there any security risks to not using URL decode/encode? And what are the problem characters? A list would be useful. Thanks!

  Just want to know everyone's experience and take on managing users/authentication on a multi-node db2 cluster with users groups. I have 17 apps in production (project based company, only 2 online apps), and some 30 users with 7 groups. prodsel - group that has select privilege on all tables produpdt - update group on selective tables (as required by the apps) proddel - delete prodins - insert permissions for the group Now what my company does is when an app uses certain user (called app1user), and needs select and insert privilege on a table, they 1. grant select and insert for prodsel, prodins respectively 2. add the user under those two groups... now this creates one to many relationship between user and privileges, and this app1user also gets select on other tables granted for the prodsel group. I know this is wrong. Before I explain, I need to know how this is done elsewhere. Please share your experiences, even if you use other Databases that uses OS level authentication.

• Unable to encode to iso-8859-1 encoding for some chars using Perl Encode module

  I have a HTML string in ISO-8859-1 encoding. I need to pass this string to HTML:Entities::decode_entities() for converting some of the HTML ASCII codes to respective chars. To so i am using a module HTML::Parser::Entities 3.65 but after decode_entities() operation my whole string changes to utf-8 string. This behavior seems fine as the documentation of the HTML::Parse. As i need this string back in ISO-8859-1 format for further processing so i have used Encode::encode("iso-8859-1",$str) to change the string back to ISO-8859-1 encoding. My results are fine excepts for some chars, a question mark is coming instead. One example is single quote ' ASCII code (’) Can anybody help me if there any limitation of Encode module? Any other pointer will also be helpful to solve the problem. Thanks

• Can somebody explain this Objective C method declaration syntax

  I'm working through an iPhone development book* without really knowing Objective C. For the most part I'm able to follow what's going on, but there are a few method declarations like the one below that I'm having a bit of trouble parsing. For example: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger) section { return [self.controllers count]; //controllers is an instance variable of type NSArray in this class } It looks this is a method called numberOfRowsInSection, and it returns an NSInteger, and takes an NSInteger as a parameter which is locally called 'section'. But I don't understand all the references to tableView, or why this takes a parameter when it is not used within the method. Can somebody clarify this?
