• How to Set ActiveX Control name on the install window of Internet Explorer

  I created a ActiveX control using ATL, already package it with signature. I want to use it on the webpage, but at the install window the name is MyActiveX.cab with no link. the MyActiveX.cab name can be changed by modifying the html page's tag codebase attribute. but the name is still format like "XXX.cab" with no hyperlink. I find a activex control from chinese website has its own name and link: and its object tags are nothing different: <object ID="CMBPB_OCX" CODEBASE="http://szdl.cmbchina.com/download/PB/pb50.cab#version=5,3,1,1" classid="clsid:F2EB8999-766E-4BF6-AAAD-188D398C0D0B" width="0" height="0"> </object> the pic was taken from MSDN Pages, it has link.   In a web2py view, how do I comment out server-side code? In ASP.NET, I can surround any HTML or code tags with <%-- and --% and that block will not be compiled or sent to the client. Velocity does the same thing with #* and *#. Is there an equivalent in web2py?   Hello, I have two tables that relates 1:n content --------- - id - title - text content_meta ------------- - id - content_id - meta_key - meta_value A content can have multiple content_meta registers associated to it. Typically content_meta will contain the category, tags, descriptions and all that stuff, so I really don't know the number of registers a content will have. What I want to accomplish is to take the content register and also all the related registers in content_meta in a single query. I've tried the subselect approachment but seems that I can only get one register/column (¿?) SELECT content.*, ( SELECT * FROM content_meta WHERE content_id = content.id ) FROM content This query complains that "Operand should contain 1 column(s)", so changing the '*' by for example meta_key clears the error, but returns a NULL for this subselect... SELECT content.*, ( SELECT meta_key FROM content_meta WHERE content_id = content.id ) FROM content Can anybody show me where to go from here please?

  I currently have a listview which contains a couple of strings. These are called from a string array in strings.xml <string name="app_name">Taxi Me</string> <string-array name="taxi_array"> <item>Barrys Taxi</item> <item>Boom Taxi</item> </string-array> What i was trying to do is create subitems for these so that i can show fields such as address and contact details etc. I made a customlistview a while back but cant work out how i can do it using the strings.xml file? Are there any particular tags i need to use so they show up in the list view? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  Hi, I need to send HTML emails directly from oracle PL/SQL package. This works almost fine. I have problem with the fact that some of the data fetched from a table contain things like <S>, <L>, and similar fragments, which sometimes ar treated as HTML tags, and even if not, they are always ignored and never displayed. So, I need to escape this column before inserting into email body. Is there a function to escape html special chars into entities automaticly? Or do I need to replace('<','&lt;',string) manually all the special characters? I found a function to escape URLs but not one for HTML :( Best regards, SWilk

  Hi guys, I have this piece of code in javascript: var catId = $.getURLParam("category"); In my asp.net and c# code for "category" query string i use a public const: public const string CATEGORY = "category"; so if i want to change the query string parameter to be "categoryTest" i only change this const and all the code is updated. Now the question is: how can i do something similar for the javascript i have in the same application (so i want to use the same constant)? I mean i want something like this: var catId = $.getURLParam(CQueryStringParameters.CATEGORY); but because there are none asp.net tags, my const is not interpreted... Any workaround?

Everything works fine.   I'm trying not to fight the defaults here and use Rails built-in support for nested attributes (from http://ryandaigle.com/articles/2009/2/1/what-s-new-in-edge-rails-nested-attributes). I'm labeling Things with Tags, and all works swell, and for each Thing I have a form with a nested field that creates a new Tag by a name. Trouble is, I need to make sure that each Tag has a unique name. Instead of creating a new Tag, if a user enters the name of one that already exists, I need to create the associate with that pre-existing Tag. How do I do this?

• Should Marketing departments have basic HTML skills?

  Working within an organisation as part of the in-house site development team, a lot of my team's throughput is driven by the colouring-in (marketing) department. It is their responsibility to provide approved content and imagery for the features or enhancements that we include on each iteration of the company site. One thing I've noticed in this job and several previous ones is that the Marketing department is extremely particular about wording and presentation, but has little to no understanding of the actual medium with which they're working - the web. I find that my team is constantly making best guesses for various HTML attributes like image alt text, titles, rel tags, blockquote cite attributes and the like. How reasonable is it to expect that marketing departments have a strong understanding of the purpose of HTML metadata? Should it be the developer's job to remind and inform each time or are marketing departments falling behind the technology they're working with? What could I reasonably expect our marketing department to understand and provide every time with each new work request?

  Hi, Just starting with ASP.Net MVC and have hit a bit of a snag regarding validation messages. I've a custom validation attribute assigned to my class validate several properties on my model. When this validation fails, we'd like the error message to contain XHTML mark-up, including a link to help page, (this was done in the original WebForms project as a ASP:Panel). At the moment the XHTML tags such as "< a ", in the ErrorMessage are being rendered to the screen. Is there any way to get the ValidationSummary to render the XHTML markup correctly? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of validation? Thanks

I'm planning to user Paperclip for dealing with uploads. If I store the images under "RAILS_ROOT/public/images", anyone who could guess the name of the files might access the files. (e.g., accessing http://example.com/public/images/uploads/john/family.png ) I need to show the images using img tags, so I cannot place a file except public. How can I ensure that images of a user or group is not accessible by others?

  I'm working on a jQuery plugin that will allow you to do @username style tags, like Facebook does in their status update input box. My problem is, that even after hours of researching and experimenting, it seems REALLY hard to simply move the caret. I've managed to inject the <a> tag with someone's name, but placing the caret after it seems like rocket science, specially if it's supposed work in all browsers. And I haven't even looked into replacing the typed @username text with the tag yet, rather than just injecting it as I'm doing right now... lol There's a ton of questions about working with contenteditable here on Stack Overflow, and I think I've read all of them, but they don't really cover properly what I need. So any more information anyone can provide would be great :)

• IE6 image scaling with bicubic filter

  I have a project where I have to resize some images in the actual browser side. IE8, FF3 et al all apply a filter to smooth the resizing of the image, so in these browsers everything looks good. In IE7 I have applied the following fix which works great: -ms-interpolation-mode:bicubic; In IE6 however I can only find references to the AlphaImage Filter (the same one used to enable alpha transparency on PNG files). However I can't find an example of how to use it, nor have I been able to get it working myself. Can anyone provide me with an example? Preferably applied to actual img tags, though I could use background images if required. • jQuery Validation Plugin + equalTo Not Working

  Hey guys, Here is what I am currently using to attempt to validate a form. When I press submit with no values entered into the form, I get the error messages for each of the inputs as expected. However, no matter what I put in newpassword2 or newemail2 they never 'pass' validation. I've tried everything from copy and paste to making them one letter each to no success. Perhaps I am not using the equalTo attribute correctly... I've also verified that all the names of the selectors agree with the input id's on the form. Also, all of the inputs are contained within the form, so there aren't any outside of the form tags (I read that was an issue with someone else). $(document).ready(function() { $("#account_data").validate({ rules: { newpassword1: { required: true }, newpassword2: { equalTo: "#newpassword1" }, newemail1: { required: true, email: true }, newemail2: { equalTo: "#newemail1" } } }); }); Any help would be extremely appreciated!   Short Want to set automatic (or at least semi-auto) software version numbering in GIT Detailed I'm newby to GIT. Recently created some bare git repo and made some commits and pushes into it. Want to set some starting version number (like v1.0) to my project. I know, there is tag for this reason. Googled it and found bunch of materials. For example: git - the simple guide blog says: You can create a new tag named 1.0.0 by executing git tag 1.0.0 1b2e1d63ff the 1b2e1d63ff stands for the first 10 characters of the commit id you want to reference with your tag. Kudelabs says: $ git tag -a 'milestone1' -m 'starting work for milestone 1, due in 2 weeks' $ git push --tags I'm really confused. What is difference between first and second method: git tag and git tag-a. Can't figure out which to use for this purpose. How can I set version number in bare remote repo, to which I made 5-6 commits and pushes?

  I want to add a meta tag like this one: <meta name="key" content="value" /> to some of the pages in Wordpress. I know, I can add this into my template and it will show up. But the thing is, I am not allowed to even touch the template. It's totally template independent. So, I have to add the meta tag only by doing something in my plugin code. • jquery onclick function not firing with rails link_to_remote

  In the js file of the page, inside $(document).ready(function() {} i have $(".school a").live("click", function (e){ e.preventDefault(); ....; jsFunc(param1, param2, param3); }); Now the div with the class school has tags generated by rails link_to_remote with :url, :action, :before, :html. On clicking on this link it does all that it should do with regards to link_to_remote, but somehow the onclick event in the document.ready does not attach to it. Why would this be happening? The jsFunc all it does is post to a url async-ly, i figured out that stuffing that post url in the :before of the link_to_remote would work - but is there a more elegant way of just being able to use the attach functionality

• [IE 7/8] Loading HTML content in via Javascript nulls my <title> tag in some instances

  This is an Explorer only problem and the symptoms are: I have links that when clicked will load in HTML chunks (none of which contain html header tags) using javascript. The html chunks are placed in various <div>s around the page, perhaps 3 different places with 3 different chunks brought in via javascript. When these chunks load in the <title> tag of the page gets set to <title></title> for some unknown (to me) reason. I've used the IE developer toolbar to confirm this by inspecting the DOM tree. I have other pages that do similar things but it does not seem to be a problem there.

• Nokogiri: add <tbody> after <table> elements as FireFox does

  i have a problem: Firefox adds <tbody> whether it's there or not, after <table>. I have no problem with this. Nokogiri doesn't add it. I need Nokogiri to emulate Firefox's behavior. How can i add tbody after <table> elements to a given HTML page ? If tbody is already there, then move on to the next <table>....until all <tbody> tags are placed by Nokogiri. Thank you.
