  • Can I Do a Foreach on a TimeSpan by Timespan Type?

    I have a requirement that regardless of the start and dates that I need to loop through that timespan and calculate figures at the month level. I cannot seem to figure it out, and maybe it is not possible, but I would like to do something like: FOREACH Month As TimeSpan in ContractRange.Months Do Calculations (Month.Start, Month.End) NEXT Is this possible or do I need to calculate the number of months, and just iterate through the amount of months and calculate the start/end of that month based on my index?

  • How to get the dynamic generated content of an external ASP file using PhP?

    This is the situation: I've a PhP login page that check is an external ASP page has generated something (nickname). For example: i'm logged? So opening directly the asp page will display "nickname:thecrius" and nothing more. I'm not logged? So opening the ASP page will display nothing. Now i've to catch the "thecrius" string with a PhP page. Using file_get_contents only return me "nickname:", the "static" part of the asp page. What i'm doing wrong?     Are dynamic resources truly dynamic? If I define a DynamicResource, I realise that an expression is created (where?) that is not translated into a resource until runtime, however, What I do not understans is whether this dynamicresouce, once built, is now "Static" For instance, if I create a context menu via a dynamicresource, are the menuitems which are created at runtime on access then static, even if they are bound? If so, how can i create a dynamic context menu in XAML?

    I have some unit tests that need an X11 display so I plan to start Xvfb before running them, but to start Xvfb I will need a free display number to connect it to. My best guess is to see what's free in /tmp/.X11-unix but I'm not sure how to handle the race if many tests try to start simultaneously. sshd must do this, does anyone know how?

I want to query the sum duration of the intersection of all rows with two start and stop date-times. How can you do this in MySQL? Or do you have to select the rows that intersect the query start and stop times, then calculate the actual overlap of each row and sum it client-side?

  • How to partition bits in a bit array with less than linear time

    This is an interview question I faced recently. Given an array of 1 and 0, find a way to partition the bits in place so that 0's are grouped together, and 1's are grouped together. It does not matter whether 1's are ahead of 0's or 0's are ahead of 1's. An example input is 101010101, and output is either 111110000 or 000011111. Solve the problem in less than linear time. Make the problem simpler. The input is an integer array, with each element either 1 or 0. Output is the same integer array with integers partitioned well. To me, this is an easy question if it can be solved in O(N). My approach is to use two pointers, starting from both ends of the array. Increases and decreases each pointer; if it does not point to the correct integer, swap the two. int * start = array; int * end = array + length - 1; while (start < end) { // Assume 0 always at the end if (*end == 0) { --end; continue; } // Assume 1 always at the beginning if (*start == 1) { ++start; continue; } swap(*start, *end); } However, the interview insists there is a sub-linear solution.   • Can sorting Japanese kanji words be done programatically?

    I've recently discovered, to my astonishment (having never really thought about it before), machine-sorting Japanese proper nouns is apparently not possible. I work on an application that must allow the user to select a hospital from a 3-menu interface. The first menu is Prefecture, the second is City Name, and the third is Hospital. Each menu should be sorted, as you might expect, so the user can find what they want in the menu. Let me outline what I have found, as preamble to my question: The expected sort order for Japanese words is based on their pronunciation. Kanji do not have an inherent order (there are tens of thousands of Kanji in use), but the Japanese phonetic syllabaries do have an order: ???????????????????... and on for the fifty traditional distinct sounds (a few of which are obsolete in modern Japanese). This sort order is called ???? (gojuu on jun , or '50-sound order'). Therefore, Kanji words should be sorted in the same order as they would be if they were written in hiragana. (You can represent any kanji word in phonetic hiragana in Japanese.) The kicker: there is no canonical way to determine the pronunciation of a given word written in kanji. You never know. Some kanji have ten or more different pronunciations, depending on the word. Many common words are in the dictionary, and I could probably hack together a way to look them up from one of the free dictionary databases, but proper nouns (e.g. hospital names) are not in the dictionary. So, in my application, I have a list of every prefecture, city, and hospital in Japan. In order to sort these lists, which is a requirement, I need a matching list of each of these names in phonetic form (kana). I can't come up with anything other than paying somebody fluent in Japanese (I'm only so-so) to manually transcribe them. Before I do so though: Is it possible that I am totally high on fire, and there actually is some way to do this sorting without creating my own mappings of kanji words to phonetic readings, that I have somehow overlooked? Is there a publicly available mapping of prefecture/city names, from the government or something? That would reduce the manual mapping I'd need to do to only hospital names. Does anybody have any other advice on how to approach this problem? Any programming language is fine--I'm working with Ruby on Rails but I would be delighted if I could just write a program that would take the kanji input (say 40,000 proper nouns) and then output the phonetic representations as data that I could import into my Rails app. ??????????

The server is implemented through a class which launches a thread in which there's a infinite loop of recv/*onPacket* callback inside a try/except block which should detect the error and the exits from the loop. What I expect is that when I type "stop" on the shell the socket is closed and an exception is raised by the recvfrom function because of the invalidation of the file descriptor. Instead, it seems that recvfrom still to block the thread waiting for data even after the close call. Why this strange behavior ? I've always used this patter to implements an UDP server in C++ and JAVA and it always worked. I've tried also with a "select" passing a list with the socket to the xread argument, in order to get an event of file descriptor disruption from select instead that from recvfrom, but select seems to be "insensible" to the close too. I need to have a unique code which maintain the same behavior on Linux and Windows with python 2.5 - 2.6. Thanks.

  • Problem in suspending 2 threads at the same time in MFC!

    I am learning about threading and multithreading..so i just created a small application in which i will update the progressbar and a static text using threading.I vl get two inputs from the user, start and end values for how long the loop should rotate.I have 2threads in my application. Thread1- to update the progressbar(according to the loop) the static text which will show the count(loop count). Thread2 - to update the another static text which will just diplay a name Basically if the user clicks start, the progressbar steps up and at the same time filecount and the name are displayed parallely. There's is another operation where if the user clicks pause it(thread) has to suspend until the user clicks resume. The problem is,the above will not work(will not suspend and resume) for both thread..but works for a singlw thread.   • HorizontalFieldmanager overlay

    Hi, I have a VerticalFieldManager that takes all my screen, and I want to put an HorizontalFieldmanager at the bottom of the screen (menu bar that appear and disappear like the WeatherEye menu bar) that overlay the VerticalFieldManager. Any idea? I think it's something with overwriting the paint or sublayout methods but I have no clue how to implement this... Thanks to Max, I have almost everything, but in my other post it resize the VerticalFieldManager instead of having the HorizontalFieldmanager overlaying it. Thank you!

    I realize that this is probably a duplicate, but I've been searching for an hour and I can't to get the syntax right. I have a sheet with several tables. There is at least one empty column and one empty row between one table to the other. I know the start row and start column of each table, and I know that each table has 3 columns. I don't know how many rows it has. I want to write a sub that receives: table start row table start column and copies the table into another sheet (let's say that the destination is sheet2 starting at A1). I know I can do it with a loop, but I suspect there is a better syntax right? (The main issue here is that I need to find the number of rows each table has) Thanks. Li
