  • Duplication of menu items with ViewPager and Fragments

    I'm building an Android Application (minimum SDK Level 10, Gingerbread 2.3.3) with some Fragments in a ViewPager. I'm using ActionBarSherlock to create an ActionBar and android-viewpagertabs to add tabs to the ViewPager just like in the Market client. I have one global menu item that I want to be shown on every tab/fragment. On the first of the three tabs I want to have two additional menu items. But now two strange things happen: First if I start the app, everything seems to be fine, I can see all three menu items on the first page and only one item if i swipe to the second and third tab. But if I swipe back to the second tab from the third one, I can see all three items again which shouldn't happen. If I swipe back to the first and then again to the second tab, everything is fine again. The other strange thing is that every time I rotate the device, the menu items from the fragment are added again, even though they are already in the menu. Both programmes seem to work perfectly when i lauched them as two separate pgms , but on keeping them in the same project/package only the speaker programme screen is seen and the receiver pgm doesn't seem to work .   • How to get the value of an item from database and set it as the spinner value

    I have a database and the database populates a listview. when i long press a list item from the listview i get a context menu where i have the option to edit. When the edit option is clicked i open an activity and get all the values of the respective fields from the database. Now, here I want to get a value from the database and show it in the spinner. the spinner already has these values and is getting populated from the database... I have tried the following, but i get an error saying I can't cast a SimpleCursorAdapter to an ArrayAdapter..     Ok I know everyone is going to tell me not to use RegEx for parsing HTML, but I'm programming on Android and don't have ready access to an HTML parser (that I'm aware of). Besides, this is server generated HTML which should be more consistent than user-generated HTML. The regex looks like this: Pattern patternMP3 = Pattern.compile( "<A HREF=\"[^\"]+.+\\.mp3</A>", Pattern.CASE_INSENSITIVE | Pattern.UNICODE_CASE); Matcher matcherMP3 = patternMP3.matcher(HTML); while (matcherMP3.find()) { ... } The input HTML is all on one line, which is causing the problem. When the HTML is on separate lines this pattern works. Any suggestions?

  • How to handle application upgrades from free to paid version while preserving any data

    Here is the context. I want to have a free version and a premium version of the same application. When people buy the application, I want them to be able to "upgrade" without losing their data, i.e. the premium version should install over the free version. I want to use the same code base and just switch a setting to build the premium version. Andoid Market does not let me convert a free app to a paid app, so the trivial option is not available. I am curious if someone has tried this successfully. How does Android Market identify an application - will it think that the premium version is a different app and just install it in parallel?

As I'm working with a Web App, I use the following post build command line: "SubWCRev.exe" "$(SolutionDir)." "$(ProjectDir)Content\js\revnumber.js.tpl" "$(ProjectDir)Content\js\revnumber.js" It works great, but now I want to make sure I have SubWCRev before running it, so I can skip this post build if a fellow developer is not running TortoiseSVN. I tried a few batch codes here, but couldn't figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks!
