  • Solution to combine two submit buttons.. doing two different things from the same input

    I am trying to figure out how to combine two different forms, both require the same input but they do two different things. One form sends a request to the ecommerce platform to get the order status, and another form takes the same order number and returns a tracking code from USP or USPS. I am looking for some guidance on how I could combine these two actions.. one is currently using the POST method and the other GET. Here is an example .. so one is This one runs a validation script to confirm the order number is valid and then returns the order info if it is the second form is sending a get request to an asp file that is generating the proper tracking numbers. Can someone please point me to how I could begin to tackle this?

  • Scheduler with Asp Mvc

    Hi, I want to use a Scheduler like Telerik Scheduler in my Mvc project. The problem is that the Scheduler is a Asp.Net WebForm control. For this reason, I must create a WebForm page in my Mvc project to put the Scheduler control. When I show the page, it work fine to render the layout of the control but if I try to interact with it; click for change date, change to day view to week view, the control don't change. I know that postback doesn't work in mvc project but does it work in a WebForm page in a Mvc project? If it doesn't work, it is the reason why when I try to interact with the control, the control don't respond. I think it's because the postback don't work and the Scheduler use 100 % Databinding where when I change date, the postback don't contain any data that I have changed and for this reason, the control can't change is layout. Have you any ideas about postback with WebForm in mvc project? What type of design can I adopt? (Two differents projets: One for my Scheduler with WebForm and another for all the rest of my website in Mvc project) Any other control easily to use with Scheduler? Tips and tricks when needing both WebForm control and Mvc control in Mvc project? Thank you very much.

    I'm changing our webservices to an async model. And for that I have to change over a hundred methods. Doing it manually is one (unappealing) option. Is there no way to programmatically parse & change multiple functions/code files? Example: [Webmethod] public void MyWebservice (string parameter1, string parameter2, string parameter3) { //Logic here } And change this to: public void InternalMyWebservice (string parameter1, string parameter2, string parameter3, AsyncCallback callback) { //Logic here } [Webmethod] public void BeginMyWebservice (string parameter1, string parameter2, string parameter3, AsyncCallback callback, object asyncState) { //Queue InternalMyWebservice in a threadpool } public void EndMyWebservice(IAsyncResult asyncResult) { //Set return values } It's basically the same thing I have to do for each webservice. Change the name to "InternalX", add a parameter and create the begin & end method.

    My layout breaks if I change the window size in IE7/AOL, so I added a simple javascript function that fires on window.onresize, but no matter how I change the location I get problems. It was suggested I post a link and here it is: link text I already use PHP to detect browser and include an IE7-only inline stylesheet (and for mobile browsers), and my page looks nearly identical to the way it does in FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari and IE8, but when I change the window size, some things go wonky, and come back into line if you refresh. Any advice is welcome :)

Here's more details: We currently host an online plugin gallery for our product. Users can upload and download plugins. But users can't easily collaborate on a plugin's development, can't easily report and track bugs on a plugin, can't easily track a plugin's versions or roadmap, etc. Of course, contributors can host their plugin development on github, sourceforge, google code, codeplex, etc. But keeping users on our website has some advantages. For example: We can use single-sign-on to avoid yet another username/password required we can integrate end-user issue tracking into our existing online issue-tracking systems we can get integrated analytics so we can better meet the needs of top contributors as well as downloaders We can easily reward reputation points to committers just like we do for people who answer lots of questions Anyone know a good solution for white-label sites for open-source project developer collaboration?

    Our organization is at CMMI Level 2, and as part of the requirements of the level, we have to maintain an RTM which more or less contains the following entries for each requirement: Requirement Description Reference Section Functional Specification Document Reference Section Design Document Reference Section Test Cases Document Now, this might be an overkill for a small project. But more importantly, this could be a nightmare to maintain when the requirements/ features keep changing, and documents have to be constantly updated. What do the gurus say about this? Should one avoid such level of documentation or are there any tools to manage when a "change" out dates so many artifacts? And by using the term 'gurus', I am not talking of coding champs; rather people like Steve McConnel or others who have worked on commercial projects of medium to large scale. Quotes/ book references/ articles will suit me. EDIT: It's not just requirements that change. Design Document can change; well, even test cases may change.

  • How to read a column in a tab-delimited Excel file in C#?

    I have some data of an excel file below. At first, I figured that reading from the file could be done using the Excel Library then using an OLEDB connection. I managed to get the DocumentNo column data with the OLEDB approach. However, when the excel file is closed, I am unable to do the operation because it gives an error that "External table is not in the expected format."     I was involved in an interesting debate about the visibility of domain models & was wondering if people here have any good guidance. Per my understanding of MDA, we need not expose the domain model throughout the application layers & tiers The reason being that any change to the domain model has an impact in the overall application The wise thing to do would be to expose light-weight object (DTO's) which are a small sub-set of the domain model to abstract the actual model On the flip side, any change to the domain model would mean changing various DTO's throughout the application for the change to be visible, while if we do expose the domain model, then the change is in a single location Hope to see some comments & thoughts about this.   • Scanning FedEx labels into a visual basic program

    I have a program that has tracking numbers entered into it and it stores them in a database and i would like to add a scanner to the mix. The scanner is acting like a keyboard and scannes just fine, the problem is scanning a FedEx number gives a 32 digit number and i am only iterested in the tracking number portion of it. I saw an example on the web for an excel macro and tried to modify it but it doesnt seem to work. Is there something i could do to just get the 12 digit number? This is what it looks like so far.     I am looking for a free alternative to TS. What would be the best alternative stack(source control, bug tracking, project management/planning, wiki, automated builds (ci))? Keeping in mind that it would be nice if they all integrated well. For example, it would be nice to be able to link bugs to source control, and then be able to link to a project plan and then be able to automate building. I do not have issues with using Microsoft project to manage project planing. I know i would like to use these....: SVN TeamCity NUnit But i am struggling to find a good Wiki/Project Planning/Bug tracking, that would integrate well. Any questions let me know.

  • Is there unresizable space in latex? Pictures in good looking grid.

    I've created latex macro to typeset guitar chords diagrams(using picture environment). Now I want to make diagrams of different appear in good looking grid when typeset one next to each other as the picture shows: The picture. (on the picture: Labeled "First" bad layout of diagrams, labeled "Second" correct layout when equal number of diagrams in line) I'm using \hspace to make some skips between diagrams, otherwise they would be too near to each other. As you can see in second case when latex arrange pictures in so that there is same number of them in each line it works. However if there is less pictures in the last line they become "shifted" to the right. I don't want this. I guess is because latex makes the space between diagrams in first line a little longer for the line to exactly fit the page width. How do I tell latex not to resize spaces created by \hspace ? Or is there any other way ? I guess I cannot use tables because I don't know how many diagrams will fit in one line...     In the SRP, a 'responsibility' is usually described as 'a reason to change', so that each class (or object?) should have only one reason someone should have to go in there and change it. But if you take this to the extreme fine-grain you could say that an object adding two numbers together is a responsibility and a possible reason to change. Therefore the object should contain no other logic, because it would produce another reason for change. I'm curious if there is anyone out there that has any strategies for 'scoping', the single-responsibility principle that's slightly less objective?

  • How to handle 30k files in a project which requires them?

    Visual Studio 2010 RC - Silverlight Application We have a library of images that we need to have access to. They are given to us from a vendor (through an installer) and they are not in a database, they are files in a folder (a very large monster of a folder). We do not control when the images change, so the vendor needs to be able to override them individually. We get updates frequently enough from this vendor to state that these images change "randomly" and without our (programmer) knowledge. The problem: I don't want 30K images in SVN. Heck, I don't even want to imagine them in my Solution. However, our application requires them in order to run properly. So, our build/staging servers need access to these images (we have two build servers). The Question: How would you handle it when your application will not work as specified without access to each of 30k images and you don't control when those images change? I'm do not want to have a crazy large SVN repository. Because I don't know when any of these images change, I really don't want them in my solution (definitely do not want a large solution, either). I also don't want a bunch of manual steps to do every time these images change. Our mantra, up to this point, has always been, any developer could download from SVN, compile and run our app. These images are going to kill that mantra. I'm tempted to make a WCF service that will return images if they exist and a dummy image if they don't. This way all dev boxes will return a dummy image and our build/staging/production boxes will return real images (ones that actually have the vendor's image installer installed on). This has to be a solved problem. What have other people done to handle these types of problems? I'm open to suggestions.

  • Jquery / PhP / Joomla Select one of two comboboxes does not get updated

    I am making a Joomla component wich has 3 comboboxes/selects on the page. One with languages and 2 with subjects. If you change the language the other two get filled with the same data (the subjects in the selected language) the name of the selectbox are different but otherwise the same. I get an error for one of the subject boxes (hence the url gets red), but there is no logic in wich one will give an error. In Firebug i get the HTML back for the one without the other and this one gets updated but the other one gives nothing back. If i right click in firebug on the one that gave the error, and do "send again" it will load fine. Is their a timing problem? The only place where there are problems with select boxes is on the pages that has 2 selects that need to change when a third one changed. My guess it is somewhere in the Jquery where this goes wrong. And i think it has to do with timing. But i am open for all sugestions. Thanx. UPDATE: No the ID and Name fields are different.   • jQuery ajax response not operating correctly

    Ok this is frustrating... The code below works "correctly" as far as sending the email address to the SaveEmail URL and it gets saved correctly each time I change the drop down. However it only outputs the "Successful" message once, no matter how many times I change the value in the drop down. The "data" that is returned is "Successful". I would like to show the message for a couple seconds, then fade it out.     Hello, I am writing a program and part of it is to store the keyed entry in a database on an sql server when the enter key is hit. The database is small and simple with only three entry spots in the table. one for the tracking number, one for the date entered, and one for the time entered. The only thing the user will see is the tracking number text box and an enter button. the date and time will be auto entered when the enter key is hit. i am relatively new to databases so i cannot figure out how to send the data to the database. The database is already configured, just need to get the program and the database talking to eachother. Thanks.
