  • Which is better a computer science degree or a Software engineer degree?

So do you have any opinions on the matter of which would give me a better education in programming?   • How do I stop my IIS App Pool making a request to wpad.mydomain.com?

    As part of some performance troubleshooting, I've monitored the slow startup of a "cold" App Pool (one without an active worker process) in IIS. When using a built-in account, the App Pool starts in sub-second time. When using a custom local account the App Pool takes 30+ seconds to start processing requests. The service appears to be making requests to wpad.mydomain.com, an address it does not have access to, which causes it to wait 30 seconds for a response before eventually timing out. As a workaround, I've added the hostname to the server's hosts file, to direct the traffic to the local machine, which returns much faster (1-2 seconds). What do I need to do to stop IIS making this request when this identity is used for the App Pool?

    I am searching for any good site that teaches C++, that can explain most to all things about it(general) and has a decent active community. About Me: I am new to programming(knows nothing of it, so please bare with me), I have only learned(to a very basic form) LUA scripting Language, so yes I am your complete newbie. I got interested in programming, from scripting in LUA, so you can say it was my small stepping stone, One would basically take a course in college, but not everyone is well funded for that and I can't buy books for the same said reason(yes I'm somewhat poor, only money for essentials and bills), I'm not trying to get sympathy, just stating my conditions. and Please, something in between the lines of 'Programming for Dummies'(I'm not the brightest crayon in the box), I know this will not be easy, but your help will be most appreciated. I would learn for either Windows and/or Linux/Unix. I use both. Site(s) I know: Cplusplus.org(quite inactive and tutorials are a little for the programming savvy.

To avoid having duplicated pages, i want to add canonical meta tag in header... but on which page? does it have to be on both of them or only on second? On on first?   • Pull/Clone a svn repository into hg with new default branch name?

    I'm forking a project's SVN repo and need to integrate into my Mercurial repo. To keep things simple I have a local hgsubversion repo and a local hg repo. However both the mercurial and hgsubversion repo uses default as their default branch name. My goal here is to put the original code and updates on one branch and my code on the default branch However I have yet to be able to do this.     Hi folks, I have a Django 'add business' view which adds a new business with an inline 'business_contact' form. The form works fine, but I'm wondering how to write up the unit test - specifically, the 'postdata' to send to self.client.post(settings.BUSINESS_ADD_URL, postdata) I've inspected the fields in my browser and tried adding post data with corresponding names, but I still get a 'ManagementForm data is missing or has been tampered with' error when run.   • Problem in Apache CXF (Simple Frontend): 'Already connected'

    I am using apache CXF for the first time. I am trying to establish a connection based on the CXF simple front end (Configuration notes) technology. I can't really see what I've done wrong, but I am getting a weird error (see below). I have also posted this question to [email protected], but I haven't received a response yet. Perhaps someone here can help. The service bean that is wrapped here is a Spring / JPA service that does not know anything about the web, I want to use simple frontend to publish it as a web service without having to annotate it with Jax-ws etc. (This works in theory).     I can't stop Titanium's webview from converting numbers to telephone links. For instance, let's say I programmatically set the innerHTML of a div called test to 96840664702 and then write javascript... alert(document.getElementById('test').innerHTML In Mobile Safari on the iPhone, Firefox, etc., the alert will read "96840664702". If I point Titanium's webview to the same page, the alert will read: <a href="tel:96840664702" x-apple-data=detectors="true">96840664702</a> How can I globally disable the data-detectors? I tried a couple meta-tags... <meta name=”format-detection” content=”telephone=no” > <meta name="x-" http-equiv="x-rim-auto-match" forua="true" content="none"/> ... but they didn't work. I couldn't find a reference for a meta tag that specifically mentioned Apple's detectors. Again, it's only a problem in Titanium's webview. It works everywhere else.

    I'm building a desktop application using hibernate 3.5 & JPA 2.0. I have 2 jars, the lib, which defines every entity and DAO, packages looks like this : org.my.package.models org.my.package.models.dao org.my.package.models.utils In org.my.package.utils I defined my hibernate utility class for getting EM & EMF instances, which means the lib is bound to a Persistence Unit name but that's not a problem for now (anyway you can recommend me a better way to manage that) the second jars is built as follow: org.my.package.app META-INF is defined on the root of the project which means in my jar I can find this directories directly in the root: META-INF/ META-INF/persistence.xml org/ org/my/ ... org/my/package/app/Main.class META-INF/ When I run the app, hibernate doesn't managed to find persistence.xml it throws an exception something like "package or class for PersistenceUnitName not found". I googled a bit about the problem but I can't get the source code organisation right. Any help ?

    Dear all, I have defined a personalized jar-with-dependencies assembly descriptor. However, when I execute it with mvn assembly:assembly, I get : ... [INFO] META-INF/ already added, skipping [INFO] META-INF/MANIFEST.MF already added, skipping [INFO] javax/ already added, skipping [INFO] META-INF/ already added, skipping [INFO] META-INF/MANIFEST.MF already added, skipping [INFO] META-INF/maven/ already added, skipping [INFO] [assembly:assembly {execution: default-cli}] [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Error reading assemblies: No assembly descriptors found. My jar-with-dependencies.xml is in src/main/resources/assemblies/. I found that cassandra is apache product, is there something like this in microsoft world? or articles to know how to deal with cassandra using .net?
