• What do I put on my developers box in regard to SharePoint 2010

  So we are venturing out into the world of SharePoint and it seems that I have to install SharePoint Server directly on each developer's box. Is this correct? I have SharePoint up and running on a separate sever so it seems redundant to have to install it on each box. Not to mention installing SharePoint on Windows 7 is a pain in the ars. I'm just trying to clarify how to correctly set the environment up. • google webmaster soft 404 on 301

  I'm looking through google webmaster that my page is generating soft 404 errors (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/181708?hl=en) google says: We recommend that you always return a 404 (Not found) or a 410 (Gone) response code in response to a request for a non-existing page But I've got redirects set up that handle old pages to redirect to the proper new pages using a 301. The website links changed because of a use of a framework, which allows it to be more consistent, but the old pages till have links out there to these. Should I be worried about this? IS google penalizing the site for this? (Using IIS 8, Tomcat, CF10, Win)

English: I have 2 routers A and B, interconnected with a serial connection, with the ip's 10.0.0.1/30 for A and 10.0.0.2/30 for B. On router A NAT was activated with the pool 200.0.0.1 - 200.0.0.15/28. When connection to this router, I get an ip from the pool, for example 200.0.0.10. Knowing my new ip is 200.0.0.10, which is not on the same network as my destination interface (10.0.0.2), how can this work?

• I keep getting blue screen - Windows 7 x64 (maybe ram?)

  I have +- 5yrs old pc runnig windows 7 and I've been getting blue screen recently. I had win 8 and I got a lof of erros with ram memory, so I reinstalled back to Win 7. (I have 2x 2 GB RAM) To make a better image of my errors - I get them while writing email, installing nvidia driver, sound driver, running RAM test. I got a log of my last error, could anyone tell me what is it? Should I get new RAM memories? • Distributing a Python Software for Linux [closed]

  Hi, I am writing my first software in Python for Ubuntu (or Debian based Linux). I am looking for a good advise on the best way to distribute my software. The easist alternative that I can think of at the moment is to archive the python code into *.tar.gz, and let user execute the main python script as an executable to run the software. I realize that this may not be the best approach. I looked at the Debian maintainer guide: "http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/ch-dother.en.html", not too sound lazy, but the guide looks very intimidating for a beginner. Are there any other tutorial that show how to create a debian package for a beginner ? If anyone has a suggestion do let me know. Thanks ^_^

• How do I start mysqld with options

  I need to start up mysqld with command line options as from here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/server-options.html#option_mysqld_skip-grant-tables I normally do sudo service mysqld start, but passing the option as sudo service mysqld start --skip-grant-tables does not seem to work. • 'DNS service isn't responding' in windows 7

  Hi All, I bought a brand new Dell Studio 1558 just last week. It has windows 7 home premium 64-bit installed on it. My friend who is occupying the adjacent room has a laptop with windows XP. Both of us are connecting to the same wireless router of the hotel. My friend is able to connect to the wireless network without any trouble, but when I try to connect, I get the error "DNS service isn't responding". I met two more people in the same hotel with win XP laptop and they too dont have any problem. I have gone to possibly all the forums and website but I haven't been able to fix this error :(. I have done all the basic troubleshooting but I have no luck yet. Pls help. • Migrating Gmail to Office 365

  Good Morning, I have been setting up Office 365 for my organization. We are currently using Gmail. I have synced our local Active Directory server w/ Office 365, as well as our domains. The problem I am having has to do with migrating mailboxes from Gmail to Office 365. I have been using this article to walk me through the process: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn568114.aspx The issue arises when I begin to sync the mailboxes. Currently I have been trying to sync my own mailbox as a test. The synchronization process has been going on for about 15 hours (for just one mailbox) with no errors or any information given by Office 365, other than the "Syncing" status on the migration page in the Exchange Admin Center. Is syncing a single mailbox supposed to take this long, or have I missed a step? Thanks!

• Can expire_logs_days be less than 1 day in MySQL?

  So... yesterday I received an "after the fact email" about a campaign that has started for one of the services that I run. Now the DB server is getting hammered, hard, to the tune of about 300mb/min in binary logging for the replicate. As you could imagine, this is chewing up space at a fairly tremendous rate. My normal 7 day expiry of binary logs just isn't cutting it. I've resorted to truncating logs to just the last for 4 hours with(I'm verifying that replication is up to date with mk-heartbeat): PURGE MASTER LOGS BEFORE DATE_SUB( NOW(), INTERVAL 4 HOUR); I'm just running that from cron every few hours to weather the storm, but it made me question the minimum value for expire_logs_days. I haven't come across a value that is less than 1, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-system-variables.html#sysvar_expire_logs_days gives the type as being numeric, but doesn't indicate if it's expecting integers.

• Server 2008 SP1 VSS Writers Not Responding

  I've got a Windows Server 08 box on SP1 that is having some problems. We've experienced backup problems and I've traced it down to VSS Writers not responding. From the command line, if I type vssadmin list providers, I get Provider name: 'Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0' Provider type: System Provider Id: {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5} Version: 1.0.0.7 If I type vssadmin list writers, I get this vssadmin 1.1 - Volume Shadow Copy Service administrative command-line tool (C) Copyright 2001-2005 Microsoft Corp. Waiting for responses. These may be delayed if a shadow copy is being prepared. I could wait this out for hours and it won't move.   Does anyone know of a command or tool to create disk snapshots on Windows 7 (client SKU)? I see vssadmin.exe has a "create shadow" option, but that's available only on server SKUs: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc788055(v=ws.10).aspx I've a backup tool that replicates changes (creations, modifications and deletions to files and directories) since last backup, to my backup volume. Before each time this happens I want to create a persistent snapshot on my backup volume. I could then mount previous snapshots to view previous backups achieving a behavior similar to that of TimeMachine in OS X. • Small 64-bit linux server distro with low memory footprint?

  I am looking for a linux server distro with a low memory footprint. I usually use Ubuntu but I need something with a smaller footprint in order to run a large Java JVM service inside of it and also run X-windows. Any ideas? The Java service needs to handle a 3GB memory heap and so I require a 64-bit OS and JRE. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison%5Fof%5FLinux%5Fdistributions I am thinking that ArchLinux is the only one that I can find right now. It uses 250MB out of the box (without X-win). Any better suggestions?

  Since my previous question was closed without an answer, I'm changing it a bit and asking again. All my pages are being served with an malicious iframe injected just before the html tag. • Prevent Windows Exporer to extract metadata

  Windows Explorer (windows 7 x64) crashes when it sees allegedly corrupted .wav files. I'm dealing with this problem and the hotfix doesn't work for me: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976417/en-us The hotfix says that this happens if the .wav file is corrupt (which btw I don't think it is). What makes this even worse is that I can't access the file in any program! As soon as the open dialog sees the file, windows tries it's metadata extraction trick and exporer.exe halts. So my question: Can I by any means tell windows to stop this "metadata extraction" action ? (I have seen multiple problems associated with it in the past).

• Need old version Firefox Java plugin

  I need to use Java 1.6.0_20 for the software I'm running. I went to the Oracle website and downloaded jre1.6.0_20 and installed it on my computer, but can't seem to get Firefox to load Java. If I download directly from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp, the plugin works fine but is the wrong version, and I can't find on www.java.com anywhere to download any of the previous versions. According to the help (can't post link because of spam prevention), I need to go into the Java Control Panel and enable it for Mozilla. I've done this multiple times, but every time I go in to the control panel and check the box, click Apply and Save, as soon as I go back in the box is unchecked. Does anyone know either why the box is unchecked, or where I can download the old JRE that also is configured for Firefox?

• Start TLS and 389 Directory

  I'm trying to configure Start TLS on 389 Directory server, but I'm having all sorts of issues. I've been following this doc: https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Directory_Server/9.0/html/Administration_Guide/managing-certs.html which specifies that I should create a certificate for both the directory server and admin server. I've imported the CA cert on both servers. I've tried to use the same server certificate for both. It will not allow me to do so. However, the admin and directory servers reside on the same host. If I generate a new certificate it will need to use the same hostname. I'm not sure if that's valid... Has anyone out there set this up before? Any direction would be helpful. I have multmaster replication set up. From an external client, I'm attempting to do an ldapsearch -ZZ -x -h "myhost" -b "dc=example,dc=com" -D "cn=Directory Manager" -W "", and I'm getting a protocol error.

  I created various aliases on Wamp to be able to work on my different projects. Strangely, one of my alias is visible when I call the other. • Some search keywords in the omnibox have stopped working

  My problem in the same as described here: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/HE7ak4y92YU When I type a search in the chrome omnibox, after typing enfr [space] chrome replaces it by a search in the history and I end up googling my search prefixed by the keyword : for example, I end up googling "enfr former", instead of translating "former" from engligh into french. (in my case, the search is the folowing name: enfr, keywoard: enfr, search: http://translate.google.fr/#en/fr/%s in the other search engines options) Chrome version: 21.0.1180.89 How do I restore the normal behavior (searching on the specified search engine instead of the default search) ? Update: I have seen that clearing browsing data while I did the search fixes the problem. But I am not sure if it wont reapear.

• How do you reset the range of available ports that libvirt autoport can use?

  Libvirt is using its autoport setting to automatically allocate ports within a range starting at 5900. Example excerpt from an XML configuration for a VM: <graphics type='spice' port='6000' autoport='yes' listen='127.0.0.1' keymap='en-gb'> <listen type='address' address='127.0.0.1'/> </graphics> Currently, there are free ports at various points within the range 5900 to 5999. However, newly booted VMs are picking up ports from 6000 on. I need for it to reuse the available ports in the 59xx range. Is this possible? If so, how do I do this? The problem arose because VMs are being accessed via websockets, and it tried to use 6000 which is a reserved port for X11. A solution that explains how to blacklist ports from being picked up by autport would also be sufficient.

• When adding second processor to SQL Server, will it automatically balance the load?

  We have a SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.5) on a dedicated box with a single 2.4Ghz processor, which regularly runs at 70-80% CPU. We are going to be adding a significant number of users to the application and therefore want to add a second processor to the box (scale up). Will SQL Server automatically use the second processor to balance threads, or is there additional configuration that will need to be done? In other words, will adding the second processor drop my CPU usage to 35-40% per CPU, automatically balancing the load? Based on what I read here, it seems that it will: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181007.aspx However, I've read elsewhere that CPU performance gains can be made by assigning database tables to different filegroups, but I'm not sure we want to get that complicated at this point.

• Can GnomeKeyring store passwords unencrypted?

  I have a Fedora 15 laptop with the root and home partitions encrypted using LUKS. When it boots I have to enter a pass phrase to unlock the master key, so I have it configured to automatically log me in to my account. However, GnomeKeyring remains locked, so I have to enter another pass phrase for that. This is unpleasant and completely pointless since the entire disk is encrypted. I've not been able to find a way to configure GnomeKeyring to store its pass phrases without encryption. For example, I was not able to find an answer here: http://library.gnome.org/users/seahorse-plugins/stable/index.html.en Is there a solution? If not, is there a mailing list where it would be appropriate to plead my case?

When I double-click on it though, it opens up the VBA editor. Do I have to add the items programatically as per the following question How do I add a combobox in Word? or is it possible to do this using the UI? The other question/answer refers to creating a form. Is there a step I've missed between creating a .dot to then create a form somehow before adding form elements to it?
