• Programmatically automating a web login

  I am trying to create a C# Winforms application that will automatically log me into a site and download data. Specifically, I want to have my application automatically log into my online banking site, log me in, and download my transaction history. I can do this manually by logging in through a web browser and downloading it. I am trying to automate this. I know I probably need to use HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse. Does anyone have an example of this or a framework of the steps I need to take to accomplish this? Keep in mind it will be secure site (https) and I will somehow have to collect session information and retain the session information for the duration of the session. Any thoughts?

• Using the stadard Java logging, is it possible to restart logs after a certain period?

  I have some java code that will be running as an importer for data for a much larger project. The initial logging code was done with the java.util.logging classes, so I'd like to keep it if possible, but it seems to be a little inadequate now given he amount of data passing through the importer. Often times in the system, the importer will get data that the main system doesn't have information for or doesn't match the system's data so it is ignored but a message is written to the log about what information was dropped and why it wasn't imported. The problem is that this tends to grow in size very quickly, so we'd like to be able to start a fresh log daily or weekly. Does anybody have an idea if this can be done in the logging classes or would I have to switch to log4j or custom? Thanks for any help!

  I know this may end up getting closed quickly. I could not find this in my searching through APIs. And this is probably a very simple question but here we go... How do you store data on a google application you create in which you and others in a specific group or more specifically the people who can edit a specific calendar, can reach this data? Person A,B,C have read/write access to a calendar, and lets say they want to co-ordinate information. I want this information to not be accessible to modify by all 3 though it is not stored in a calendar? (Though I thought about just creating an event in 1900 and then that fullfills that, but at the same time is a very hack way to do it) I would appreciate any insight you can give me when it comes to data handling in google applications, I am very new to it, but have been looking into it.

• OpenGL ES 1.1 vs 2.0 for 2D Graphics, with rotated sprites?

  I am having trouble finding information related to which i should choose, OpenGL ES 1.1 or 2.0 for 2D graphics. OpenGL ES 1.1 on Android is a bit limited to my knowledge, and based purely on sprite count the only useful renderer is draw_texture() (as far as i know). However, that does not have rotation and rotation is very important to me. Now with the NDK adding support for OpenGL ES 2.0, i am trying to figure out if there is anything that preforms as well as draw_texture(), but can handle rotation. Anyone have any information on if 2.0 can help me in this area?

If I wanted to retrieve all houses within a geo-lat/long box, like the SQL below: SELECT * from houses WHERE latitude IS BETWEEN xxx AND yyy AND longitude IS BETWEEN www AND zzz Question: How would I do this type of retrival with NoSQL ... using just a key-value store system? Even if I could do this with NoSQL, would it even be efficient or would simply going back to using a tradition database retrieve this type of information faster?

• Getting "on the wire" Size of Messages in WCF

  While I'm making SOAP or REST invocations to WCF, I'd like to have the channel stack on either end (client and server) record the on-the-wire size of the data received. So I'm guessing I need to add a custom behavior to the channel stack on either side. That is, on the server side I'd record the IP-header advertised size that was received. On the client side I'd record the IP-header advertised size that was returned from the server. But this presupposes that this information is visible to a custom WCF behavior at the channel stack level. Perhaps it is only visible at the level of ASP.NET (at a layer beneath WCF)? In short, does anyone have any further insight on if and how this information is accessible? I must qualify that this "size" data will be collected in a production environment, as part of regular business logic calls. This question is related to my earlier bandwidth question.

• Is there a good reflection library available for Scala?

  I'm working on a library that needs reflection, and needs Scala-specific information as opposed to what is available via the standard Java reflection API. Right now I'm using the undocumented code in scalap (the Scala equivalent to javap) and trying to associate the data it provides with Java reflection objects so that I can call methods and such (scalap just parses class files). I found this but there's nothing there... https://github.com/dubochet/scala-reflection ...and I've searched the Scala SVN repo for traces of it and failed to find it there, either (but it could be I just missed it). Does anyone know of a Scala reflection library that provides information similar to what scalap provides but also allows you to call methods, access fields, etc like the Java reflection library?

• Programmaticaly grabbing text from a web page that is dynamically generated.

  There is a website I am trying to pull information from in perl, however the section of the page I need is being generated using javascript so all you see in the source is <div id="results"></div> I need to somehow pull out the contents of that div and save it to a file using perl/proxies/whatever. e.g. the information I want to save would be document.getElementById('results').innerHTML; I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone had any ideas or a way to do this. I was using a lynx source dump for other pages but since I cant straight forward screen scrape this page I came here to ask about it! Basically change dictionary[key, uniqueelement] to dictionary[uniqueelement, count]. • Rendering a variable with erb.

  I've got the following problem: I have rhtml (html minced together with ruby inside <% % and <%= % tags) stored in a database which I want to render. The information is acquired through a query. I need to be able to evaluate the information I get from the database as though as it was normal content inside the .erb-file. What I currently have: <% @mymods.each do |mod| %> <%= render_text(mod["html"])%> <% end %> Where mod["html"] is the variable containing the rhtml-code and @mymods an array of objects from the query. • Qt - arguments in signal-slots

  I have a QPushButton, QDateEdit and another custom object. I want to connect the button to the date edit object in a way that when I click the button, the date edit object will change its set date to a date defined on the custom object. Kinda like this: connect(pushbutton,SIGNAL(clicked()),dateedit,SLOT(setDate(custom_object.getDate()))); but I can't do that. Apparently, the connect statement doesn't specify what's the information being passed from the signal to the slot, only the type of the information being passed. Is there a way to do this without having to create a new class?

• SharePoint - DIP problem on local copies downloaded from the portal

  Our users have issues where the Document Information Panel(DIP) appears on Word, Excel, PPT documents. Here is the scenario: User downloads a copy of a template from the portal to his/her local hard drive. User edits that template and renames the file, again saving it to his/her local drive. User continues to edit and update that new document, and it continues to prompt him/her for document information as if the user was saving it on the portal. User clicks the “X” to remove this DIP bar, the next time he/she opens the local file it comes back. Is there anything I can do to make the DIP NOT SHOW on the local copies? Thanks!

  I am trying to write a program that will verify that all cookies sent out from the machine are in fact going to the domain they came from. This is part of a larger security project to detect cookie based malicious attacks (such as XSS). The main snag for this project is actually detecting the out-going cookies. Can someone point me in the right direction for monitoring out-going HTTP traffic for cookie information? • Excel string manipulation to check data consistency

  Background information: - There are nearly 7000 individuals and there is data about their performances in one, two or three tests. Every individual has taken the 1st test (let's call it Test M). Some of those who have taken Test M have also taken Test I, and some of those who have taken Test I have also taken Test B. For the first two tests (M and I), students can score grades I, II, or III. Depending on the grades they are awarded points -- 3 for grade I, 2 for II, 1 for III. The last Test B is just a pass or a fail result with no grades. Those passing this test get 1 point, with no points for failure. (Well actually, grades are awarded, but all grades are given a common 1 point). An amateur has entered data to represent these students and their grades in an Excel file. Problem is, this person has done the worst thing possible - he has developed his own notation and entered all test information in a single cell --- and made my life hell. The file originally had two text columns, one for individual's id, and the second for test info, if one could call it that. It's horrible, I know, and I am suffering. In the image, if you see "M-II-2 I-III-1" it means the person got grade II in Test M for 2 points and grade III in Test I for 1 point. Some have taken only one test, some two, and some three. When the file came to me for processing and analyzing the performance of students, I sent it back with instructions to insert 3 additional columns with only the grades for the three tests. The file now looks as follows. Columns C and D represent grades I, II, and III using 1,2 and 3 respectively. Column C is for Test M, column D for Test I. Column E says BA (B Achieved!) if the individual has passed Test B. Now that you have the above information, let's get to the problem. I don't trust this and want to check whether data in column B matches with data in columns C,D and E. That is, I want to examine the string in column B and find out whether the figures in columns C,D and E are correct. All help is really appreciated. P.S. - I had exported this to MySQL via ODBC and that is why you are seeing those NULLs. I tried doing this in MySQL too, and really will accept a MySQL or an Excel solution, I don't have a preference. Edit : - See file with sample data

  I am trying to develop an Facebook application (apps.facebook.com/some_app) using PHP where I need to present some information based on user's music interests. I found that its under "user_likes games". My problems are as follows: To gain access, I have implemented the oauth dialog method as suggested in API in my index page. $auth_url = "http://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth?client_id=" . $app_id .   From within a Java program, I want to be able to list out the Windows users and groups who have permission to read a given file. Obviously Java has no built-in ability to read the Windows ACL information out, so I'm looking for other solutions. Are there any third party libraries available which can provide direct access to the ACL information for a Windows file? Failing that, maybe running cacls and capturing and then processing the output would be a reasonable temporary solution - Is the output format of cacls thoroughly documented anywhere, and is it likely to change between versions of Windows?

• What are all the disadvantages of using files as a means of communicating between two processes?

  I have legacy code which I need to improve for performance reasons. My application comprises of two executables that need to exchange certain information. In the legacy code, one exe writes to a file ( the file name is passed as an argument to exe) and the second executable first checks if such a file exists; if does not exist checks again and when it finds it, then goes on to read the contents of the file. This way information in transferred between the two executables. The way the code is structured, the second executable is successful on the first try itself. Now I have to clean this code up and was wondering what are the disadvantages of using files as a means of communication rather than some inter-process communication like pipes.Is opening and reading a file more expensive than pipes? Are there any other disadvantages? And how significant do you think would be the performance degradation. The legacy code is run on both windows and linux.

• ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

  I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out. • SSL connection using Java standalone app

  I have created a standalone executable JAR program that needs to send private information over a SSL connection. I was not able to establish the SSL connection using certificates. Was getting this: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path `building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target` So I found some code somewhere that creates a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains: // Create a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{ new X509TrustManager() { public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() { return null; } public void checkClientTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } public void checkServerTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } } }; That did the trick and I was able to establish SSL connection without any certificates. My concern is if the data will still be encrypted when exchanging private information. This is an execute JAR file that clients will be downloading to their computers. I'm creating a website, for which I want to have an RSS. Feedburner seems to be a good, free option - so I'd like to use that. When I go to feedburner, using my google account, it says the website I want to claim is invalid. And it's not clear how to make it valid. I also have no experience with RSS (and really websites in general), so I'm not sure where to go from here. What are the steps I need to take, starting from scratch, to add an RSS feed (with feedburner) to a website?

• asp.net application install folder

  Disclaimer: this is not a question about how to install asp.net or an application using it! Hi! I am pretty sure many of you have once installed some kind of forum, blog or CMS (mostly PHP powered applications). All of these contain a folder mostly named "install" where (after you copied the files to the webserver) point your browser to to complete the installation by entering for example database information (servername, username, password, ...). After that, most applications suggest that you delete this folder or at least change the permissions so nobody from the outside can access it anymore. Now to my question: how would you go about that in the asp.net world? I don't really like the "install folder"-approach and I thought there might be a different mechanism for .net/IIS. The person installing my application should be able to enter his database information as painless as possible, which should ultimatively be stored in the web.config file. If it makes a difference, I am using asp.net MVC. Thanks for your help!
