  • PDF reviewer in C# (ASP.NET/Silverlight?)

    Hi. I'm essentially planning to mimic the comment functions on PDF files, but online. That is; a user should be able to log in and upload a PDF file, and then numerous different users should be able to add comments etc to this same file (and view the file, with comments, online). External libraries are ok. Free obviously preferred, but commercial ones are fine if they provide a lot of the needed functionality. Note that this is meant to be used in a commercial environment. Comments don't necessarily need to be able to be exported from the site. I.e. if the comments are just put as a layer on top of a PDF file (and not in the actual file) that's ok. But obviously the more export functionality the better. I have looked at a few libraries (using the related questions and google) and while I find some that seem to do sort of what I want I'm not sure they are the bee's knees plus I would like to do as much myself as possible. The three basic approaches I've thought of is: Use some sort of native PDF viewing and then just smack down a layer on top of it where you can move around comments etc. Convert PDFs to HTML and work from there. Problem here it would either require proper PDFs (e.g. non-scanned) or really good OCR which seems a bit tedious. Convert PDFs to images and work from there. I'm afraid this will create massive images however. We're talking PDFs that can be hundreds of pages. One option would of course to just display one PDF page (image) at a time. And last - should I look at Silverlight for this or go with ASP.NET? Ideas and input concerning this project are much appreciated.

    I have one macro, which is called when a cell change occurs. This macro selects images, deletes them, and inserts another image depending on a cell value using the following code. I have the same code for two sheets. Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) ActiveSheet.Shapes.SelectAll Selection.Delete 'insert image code here. End Sub In one sheet, it's working perfectly fine and deletes all images, while in the other sheet, it gives me the runtime error "Out of Memory" and highlights the following line: ActiveSheet.Shapes.SelectAll Can anyone tell me why this is happening? It works perfectly fine in one and not in the other. One other thing I want to tell you is it was working fine when I gave this Excel macro to my client; both sheets were working fine. Suddenly after 2 days, he started getting the error on one sheet on which he was working a lot. I don't know why this is happening. Can anyone tell me what's the reason for this and how I can solve it?

    Hello everyone my menu bar can't fit into my <div> area at different browser. I have checked with Opera and Chrome it looks fine but with Explorer and Firefox my menu can't fit.     I have a problem with the following code. I tried changing many things (symbols, classes, imgs in the code) but this is killing me and I have no idea how to fix it. Sorry it's so specific, when solved I'll change the title to something more useful. I have two images. My jquery has to calculate the day and show one image or the other depending on that (using a class with display:none). My month has 24 days (it's a xmas thing). (it is directly related to a downloadid from the database).   • Using large transparent pictures as texture atlases

    i'm new to android programming and i'm trying to create a relatively big 2D game. I have to use lots of images and objects in my game so I decided to use OpenGL ES. I have several texture atlases, all of them saved as png's because of the transparency. I also know, but i'm not sure why, that I have to use images, which height and width is multiple of two. I test my game on an old HTC Hero running Android 2.3.3. When my picture atlases are 512x512 each, my game has a frame rate of between 50 to 60 fps. When I use 1024x1024 non transparent png, there is no problem - the FPS is again between 50 to 60 fps. But when i decide to use a 1024x1024 transperent PNG's my frame rate drops to 4,5 fps. Could this be a problem related to the age of the device i'm using for testing? These are the OpenGL functions I use each loop to draw batches: gl.glEnable(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D); gl.glEnable(GL10.GL_BLEND); gl.glBlendFunc(GL10.GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL10.GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); //drawing happens here gl.glDisable(GL10.GL_BLEND); Thanks in advance :)

    I am trying to create a collection_select that is dependent on another collection_select, following the railscasts episode #88.. The database includes a schedule of all cruise ships arrival dates. See attached schema diagram,... (The arrow side of the lines indicate has_many, the non-pointy side indicates belongs_to) In the "booking/new" view I have a collection_select for choosing a cruiseline, then another collection_select will appear for selecting a ship, then another for selecting the date that ship is in. If I ONLY put a collection_select for shipshedule it works fine(because of the direct association with the bookings model). However, if I try to add a collection_select for cruiselines....it breaks(Im assuming because their isnt a direct association). The collection_select for cruiselines returns an undefined method error for "cruiseline_id".....if I simply use "id" the collection_select works, but of course isnt fully functional due to incorrect naming of the form field. I have tried "has_many :shipschedules, :through = :cruiseships" in the cruiseline model and "has_many :bookings, :through = :shipschedules" in the cruiseships model... As you can see in the diagram, I need to access the cruiseships and cruiselines model through the bookings model. I have the models set up so a cruiseline has_many cruiseships, a cruiseship has_many shipschedules, and a shipschedule has_many bookings. But, the bookings model cant directly access the cruiseline model. How do I accomplish this?   • How can I center a CSS background image as if the image had a different width (without cutting the bgimg off)?

    I'm attempting to add a bookmarklet to my wop website. The issue is that I would like to have the bookmarklet (highlighted in red in the picture below) centered as if it did not have the arrow sticking out the side. If I change the width of the bgimage in the css, to be the same as the below indented box thingies, it centers how I would like it to. But, it cuts off a bit of the arrow.   • For Loop not advancing

    I'm trying to read in a large number of jpg files using a for loop. But for some reason, the k index is not advancing. I just get A as a 460x520x3 uint8. Am I missing something? My goal with this code is to convert all the jpg images to the same size. Today we take a look at Addin Central… which gives you easy access to the many addin possibilities out there. Addin Central from HomeServerLand is a free well…addin…that brings you information and easy access to several other addins that are available for your Windows Home Server. It essentially creates an “app store” of sorts for your Windows Home Server that you can view in the console. Install Addin Central Browse to your shared folders on the server and open the Add-Ins folder and copy the AddinCentral.msi installer (link below). Next open WHS Console from one of the computers connected to your network, and click Settings then Add-ins. Under Available Add-ins click the Available tab and you’ll see the Addin Central installer file we just copied over. Click the Install button. Installation kicks off and when it’s complete, you’ll need to close out of the console and reconnect. Using Addin Central When you reconnect to WHS Console, you’ll see Addin Central in the menu with a list of the newest updated addins. You can go through the list of addins and check out their rating, version, author, amount of downloads, and if they’re free or you need to purchase a license.
