  • ODBC Proxy for remotely accessing legacy resources?

    - by Winston Fassett
    Our project uses AcuCorp's AcuODBC driver to access a legacy Vision database. The problem is that we only have a 32-bit driver and the installer simply won't run on our 64-bit servers. I need a way to use SSIS to pull data from that system. As far as I can tell, there are 3 options: Set up a whole new SQL Server instance with SSIS and the AcuODBC drivers on a 32-bit VM (costly) Try to hack the 32-bit driver onto our 64-bit server manually (failure prone and unsupported) Set up a 32-bit VM with some sort of "proxy" service that our 64-bit SSIS can use to pull the data. The first option is the least desirable. If you have any suggestions for options 2 or 3, or anything else I haven't thought of, I'd love to hear them.

  • Is this way of storing typed objects in memory good?

    - by Pindatjuh
    This is an "is this okay, or can it be done better" question. Topic: Storing typed objects in memory. Background information: I'm building a compiler for the x86-32 platform for my language. My goal includes typed objects. Idea: Every primitive is a semi-class (it can be used as if it was a normal class, but it's stored more compact). Every class is represented by primitives and some meta-data (containing class-properties, inheritance stuff, etc.). The meta-data is complex: it doesn't use fields but instead context-switches. For primitives, the meta-data is very small, compared to a "real" class, which is alot bigger. This enables another idea that "primitives are objects", in my language, which I found nessecairy. Example: If I have an array of 32 booleans, then the pure content of this array is exactly 4 byte (32 bits of booleans). The meta-data will contain flags that the type is an array of booleans, which contains 32 entries. The meta-data is very compacted, on bit-level: using a sort of "packing" mechanism, which is read by a FSM at runtime, when doing inspection of the type (like when passing the object to methods for checking, etc.) For instance (read from left to right, top to bottom, remember vertical possition when going to the right, and check nearest column header for meaning of switch): Primitive? Array? Type-Meta 1 Byte? || Size (1 byte) 1 1 [...] 1 [...] done 0 2 Bytes? || Size (2 bytes) 1 [...] done || Size (4 bytes) 0 [...] done Integer? 1 Byte? 2 Bytes? 0 1 0 1 done 1 done 0 done Boolean? Byte? 0 1 0 done 1 done More-Primitives 0 .... Class-Stuff (Huge) 0 ... (After reaching done the data is inserted. || = byte alignement. [...] is variable sized. ... is not described here, for simplicity. And let's call them cost-based-data-structures.) For an array of 32 booleans containing all true values, the memory for this type would be (read top-down): 1 Primitive 1 Array 1 ArrayType: Primitive 0 Not-Array 0 Not-Integer 1 Boolean 0 Not-Byte (thus bit) 1 Integer Size: 1 Byte 00100000 Array size 11111111 11111111 11111111 11111111 Data Thus, 8 bytes represent 32 booleans in an array: 11100101 00100000 11111111 11111111 11111111 11111111 Is this okay, or can it be done better?

  • A question in java.lang.Integer internal code

    - by Daziplqa
    Hi folks, While looking in the code of the method: Integer.toHexString I found the following code : public static String toHexString(int i) { return toUnsignedString(i, 4); } private static String toUnsignedString(int i, int shift) { char[] buf = new char[32]; int charPos = 32; int radix = 1 << shift; int mask = radix - 1; do { buf[--charPos] = digits[i & mask]; i >>>= shift; } while (i != 0); return new String(buf, charPos, (32 - charPos)); } The question is, in toUnsignedString, why we create a char arr of 32 chars?

  • How to keep g++ from taking header file from /usr/include?

    - by WilliamKF
    I am building using zlib.h which I have a local copy to v1.2.5, but in /usr/include/zlib.h there is v1.2.1.2. If I omit adding -I/my/path/to/zlib to my make I get error from using old version which doesn't have Z_FIXED: g++ -g -Werror -Wredundant-decls -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -c -o ARCH.linux_26_i86/debug/sysParam.o sysParam.cpp sysParam.cpp: In member function `std::string CSysParamAccess::getCompressionStrategyName() const': sysParam.cpp:1816: error: `Z_FIXED' was not declared in this scope sysParam.cpp: In member function `bool CSysParamAccess::setCompressionStrategy(const std::string&, paramSource)': sysParam.cpp:1849: error: `Z_FIXED' was not declared in this scope Alternatively, if I add the include path to the zlib z1.2.5 I am using, I get double defines, it seems as if the zlib.h is included twice with two different sets of -D values, but I don't see how that is happening: g++ -g -Werror -Wredundant-decls -I../../src/zlib-1.2.5 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -c -o ARCH.linux_26_i86/debug/sysParam.o sysParam.cpp In file included from sysParam.cpp:24: ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1582: warning: redundant redeclaration of `void* gzopen64(const char*, const char*)' in same scope ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1566: warning: previous declaration of `void* gzopen64(const char*, const char*)' ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1583: warning: redundant redeclaration of `long long int gzseek64(void*, long long int, int)' in same scope ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1567: warning: previous declaration of `off64_t gzseek64(void*, off64_t, int)' ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1584: warning: redundant redeclaration of `long long int gztell64(void*)' in same scope ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1568: warning: previous declaration of `off64_t gztell64(void*)' ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1585: warning: redundant redeclaration of `long long int gzoffset64(void*)' in same scope ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1569: warning: previous declaration of `off64_t gzoffset64(void*)' ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1586: warning: redundant redeclaration of `uLong adler32_combine64(uLong, uLong, long long int)' in same scope ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1570: warning: previous declaration of `uLong adler32_combine64(uLong, uLong, off64_t)' ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1587: warning: redundant redeclaration of `uLong crc32_combine64(uLong, uLong, long long int)' in same scope ../../src/zlib-1.2.5/zlib.h:1571: warning: previous declaration of `uLong crc32_combine64(uLong, uLong, off64_t)' Here some of the relavent lines from zlib.h referred to above: // This would be line 1558 of zlib.h /* provide 64-bit offset functions if _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE defined, and/or * change the regular functions to 64 bits if _FILE_OFFSET_BITS is 64 (if * both are true, the application gets the *64 functions, and the regular * functions are changed to 64 bits) -- in case these are set on systems * without large file support, _LFS64_LARGEFILE must also be true */ #if defined(_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE) && _LFS64_LARGEFILE-0 ZEXTERN gzFile ZEXPORT gzopen64 OF((const char *, const char *)); ZEXTERN z_off64_t ZEXPORT gzseek64 OF((gzFile, z_off64_t, int)); ZEXTERN z_off64_t ZEXPORT gztell64 OF((gzFile)); ZEXTERN z_off64_t ZEXPORT gzoffset64 OF((gzFile)); ZEXTERN uLong ZEXPORT adler32_combine64 OF((uLong, uLong, z_off64_t)); ZEXTERN uLong ZEXPORT crc32_combine64 OF((uLong, uLong, z_off64_t)); #endif #if !defined(ZLIB_INTERNAL) && _FILE_OFFSET_BITS-0 == 64 && _LFS64_LARGEFILE-0 # define gzopen gzopen64 # define gzseek gzseek64 # define gztell gztell64 # define gzoffset gzoffset64 # define adler32_combine adler32_combine64 # define crc32_combine crc32_combine64 # ifdef _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE ZEXTERN gzFile ZEXPORT gzopen64 OF((const char *, const char *)); ZEXTERN z_off_t ZEXPORT gzseek64 OF((gzFile, z_off_t, int)); ZEXTERN z_off_t ZEXPORT gztell64 OF((gzFile)); ZEXTERN z_off_t ZEXPORT gzoffset64 OF((gzFile)); ZEXTERN uLong ZEXPORT adler32_combine64 OF((uLong, uLong, z_off_t)); ZEXTERN uLong ZEXPORT crc32_combine64 OF((uLong, uLong, z_off_t)); # endif #else ZEXTERN gzFile ZEXPORT gzopen OF((const char *, const char *)); ZEXTERN z_off_t ZEXPORT gzseek OF((gzFile, z_off_t, int)); ZEXTERN z_off_t ZEXPORT gztell OF((gzFile)); ZEXTERN z_off_t ZEXPORT gzoffset OF((gzFile)); ZEXTERN uLong ZEXPORT adler32_combine OF((uLong, uLong, z_off_t)); ZEXTERN uLong ZEXPORT crc32_combine OF((uLong, uLong, z_off_t)); #endif // This would be line 1597 of zlib.h I'm not sure how to track this down further. • "Nearly divisible"

    - by bobobobo
    I want to check if a floating point value is "nearly" a multiple of 32. E.g. 64.1 is "nearly" divisible by 32, and so is 63.9. Right now I'm doing this: #define NEARLY_DIVISIBLE 0.1f float offset = fmodf( val, 32.0f ) ; if( offset < NEARLY_DIVISIBLE ) { // its near from above } // if it was 63.9, then the remainder would be large, so add some then and check again else if( fmodf( val + 2*NEARLY_DIVISIBLE, 32.0f ) < NEARLY_DIVISIBLE ) { // its near from below } Got a better way to do this?

  • Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges giving wrong size calculations in C#.Net?

    - by Owen Blacker
    I'm trying to render some text into a specific part of an image in a Web Forms app. The text will be user entered, so I want to vary the font size to make sure it fits within the bounding box. I have code that was doing this fine on my proof-of-concept implementation, but I'm now trying it against the assets from the designer, which are larger, and I'm getting some odd results. I'm running the size calculation as follows: StringFormat fmt = new StringFormat(); fmt.Alignment = StringAlignment.Center; fmt.LineAlignment = StringAlignment.Near; fmt.FormatFlags = StringFormatFlags.NoClip; fmt.Trimming = StringTrimming.None; int size = __startingSize; Font font = __fonts.GetFontBySize(size); while (GetStringBounds(text, font, fmt).IsLargerThan(__textBoundingBox)) { context.Trace.Write("MyHandler.ProcessRequest", "Decrementing font size to " + size + ", as size is " + GetStringBounds(text, font, fmt).Size() + " and limit is " + __textBoundingBox.Size()); size--; if (size < __minimumSize) { break; } font = __fonts.GetFontBySize(size); } context.Trace.Write("MyHandler.ProcessRequest", "Writing " + text + " in " + font.FontFamily.Name + " at " + font.SizeInPoints + "pt, size is " + GetStringBounds(text, font, fmt).Size() + " and limit is " + __textBoundingBox.Size()); I then use the following line to render the text onto an image I'm pulling from the filesystem: g.DrawString(text, font, __brush, __textBoundingBox, fmt); where: __fonts is a PrivateFontCollection, PrivateFontCollection.GetFontBySize is an extension method that returns a FontFamily RectangleF __textBoundingBox = new RectangleF(150, 110, 212, 64); int __minimumSize = 8; int __startingSize = 48; Brush __brush = Brushes.White; int size starts out at 48 and decrements within that loop Graphics g has SmoothingMode.AntiAlias and TextRenderingHint.AntiAlias set context is a System.Web.HttpContext (this is an excerpt from the ProcessRequest method of an IHttpHandler) The other methods are: private static RectangleF GetStringBounds(string text, Font font, StringFormat fmt) { CharacterRange[] range = { new CharacterRange(0, text.Length) }; StringFormat myFormat = fmt.Clone() as StringFormat; myFormat.SetMeasurableCharacterRanges(range); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(new Bitmap( (int) __textBoundingBox.Width - 1, (int) __textBoundingBox.Height - 1))) { g.SmoothingMode = System.Drawing.Drawing2D.SmoothingMode.AntiAlias; g.TextRenderingHint = System.Drawing.Text.TextRenderingHint.AntiAlias; Region[] regions = g.MeasureCharacterRanges(text, font, __textBoundingBox, myFormat); return regions[0].GetBounds(g); } } public static string Size(this RectangleF rect) { return rect.Width + "×" + rect.Height; } public static bool IsLargerThan(this RectangleF a, RectangleF b) { return (a.Width > b.Width) || (a.Height > b.Height); } Now I have two problems. Firstly, the text sometimes insists on wrapping by inserting a line-break within a word, when it should just fail to fit and cause the while loop to decrement again. I can't see why it is that Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges thinks that this fits within the box when it shouldn't be word-wrapping within a word. This behaviour is exhibited irrespective of the character set used (I get it in Latin alphabet words, as well as other parts of the Unicode range, like Cyrillic, Greek, Georgian and Armenian). Is there some setting I should be using to force Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges only to be word-wrapping at whitespace characters (or hyphens)? This first problem is the same as post 2499067. Secondly, in scaling up to the new image and font size, Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges is giving me heights that are wildly off. The RectangleF I am drawing within corresponds to a visually apparent area of the image, so I can easily see when the text is being decremented more than is necessary. Yet when I pass it some text, the GetBounds call is giving me a height that is almost double what it's actually taking. Using trial and error to set the __minimumSize to force an exit from the while loop, I can see that 24pt text fits within the bounding box, yet Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges is reporting that the height of that text, once rendered to the image, is 122px (when the bounding box is 64px tall and it fits within that box). Indeed, without forcing the matter, the while loop iterates to 18pt, at which point Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges returns a value that fits. The trace log excerpt is as follows: Decrementing font size to 24, as size is 193×122 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 23, as size is 191×117 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 22, as size is 200×75 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 21, as size is 192×71 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 20, as size is 198×68 and limit is 212×64 Decrementing font size to 19, as size is 185×65 and limit is 212×64 Writing VENNEGOOR of HESSELINK in DIN-Black at 18pt, size is 178×61 and limit is 212×64 So why is Graphics.MeasureCharacterRanges giving me a wrong result? I could understand it being, say, the line height of the font if the loop stopped around 21pt (which would visually fit, if I screenshot the results and measure it in Paint.Net), but it's going far further than it should be doing because, frankly, it's returning the wrong damn results. Any and all help gratefully received. Thanks!

  • How do I create JavaScript escape sequences in PHP?

    - by ordinarytoucan
    I'm looking for a way to create valid UTF-16 JavaScript escape sequence characters (including surrogate pairs) from within PHP. I'm using the code below to get the UTF-32 code points (from a UTF-8 encoded character). This works as JavaScript escape characters (eg. '\u00E1' for 'á') - until you get into the upper ranges where you get surrogate pairs (eg '??' comes out as '\u1D715' but should be '\uD835\uDF15')... function toOrdinal($chr) { if (ord($chr{0}) >= 0 && ord($chr{0}) <= 127) { return ord($chr{0}); } elseif (ord($chr{0}) >= 192 && ord($chr{0}) <= 223) { return (ord($chr{0}) - 192) * 64 + (ord($chr{1}) - 128); } elseif (ord($chr{0}) >= 224 && ord($chr{0}) <= 239) { return (ord($chr{0}) - 224) * 4096 + (ord($chr{1}) - 128) * 64 + (ord($chr{2}) - 128); } elseif (ord($chr{0}) >= 240 && ord($chr{0}) <= 247) { return (ord($chr{0}) - 240) * 262144 + (ord($chr{1}) - 128) * 4096 + (ord($chr{2}) - 128) * 64 + (ord($chr{3}) - 128); } elseif (ord($chr{0}) >= 248 && ord($chr{0}) <= 251) { return (ord($chr{0}) - 248) * 16777216 + (ord($chr{1}) - 128) * 262144 + (ord($chr{2}) - 128) * 4096 + (ord($chr{3}) - 128) * 64 + (ord($chr{4}) - 128); } elseif (ord($chr{0}) >= 252 && ord($chr{0}) <= 253) { return (ord($chr{0}) - 252) * 1073741824 + (ord($chr{1}) - 128) * 16777216 + (ord($chr{2}) - 128) * 262144 + (ord($chr{3}) - 128) * 4096 + (ord($chr{4}) - 128) * 64 + (ord($chr{5}) - 128); } } How do I adapt this code to give me proper UTF-16 code points?   • How to read/write high-resolution (24-bit, 8 channel) .wav files in Java?

    - by dB'
    I'm trying to write a Java application that manipulates high resolution .wav files. I'm having trouble importing the audio data, i.e. converting the .wav file into an array of doubles. When I use a standard approach an exception is thrown. AudioFileFormat as = AudioSystem.getAudioFileFormat(new File("orig.wav")); --> javax.sound.sampled.UnsupportedAudioFileException: file is not a supported file type Here's the file format info according to soxi: dB$ soxi orig.wav soxi WARN wav: wave header missing FmtExt chunk Input File : 'orig.wav' Channels : 8 Sample Rate : 96000 Precision : 24-bit Duration : 00:00:03.16 = 303526 samples ~ 237.13 CDDA sectors File Size : 9.71M Bit Rate : 24.6M Sample Encoding: 32-bit Floating Point PCM Can anyone suggest the simplest method for getting this audio into Java? I've tried using a few techniques. As stated above, I've experimented with the Java AudioSystem (on both Mac and Windows). I've also tried using Andrew Greensted's WavFile class, but this also fails (WavFileException: Compression Code 3 not supported). One workaround is to convert the audio to 16 bits using sox (with the -b 16 flag), but this is suboptimal since it increases the noise floor. Incidentally, I've noticed that the file CAN be read by libsndfile. Is my best bet to write a jni wrapper around libsndfile, or can you suggest something quicker? Note that I don't need to play the audio, I just need to analyze it, manipulate it, and then write it out to a new .wav file. * UPDATE * I solved this problem by modifying Andrew Greensted's WavFile class. His original version only read files encoded as integer values ("format code 1"); my files were encoded as floats ("format code 3"), and that's what was causing the problem. I'll post the modified version of Greensted's code when I get a chance. In the meantime, if anyone wants it, send me a message.

  • Is there a way to get different sizes of the Windows system icons in .NET?

    - by Andrew Watt
    In particular I'd like to be able to get the small (16 x 16) icons at runtime. I tried this: new Icon(SystemIcons.Error, SystemInformation.SmallIconSize) Which supposedly "attempts to find a version of the icon that matches the requested size", but it's still giving me a 32 x 32 icon. I also tried: Size iconSize = SystemInformation.SmallIconSize; Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(iconSize.Width, iconSize.Height); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bitmap)) { g.DrawIcon(SystemIcons.Error, new Rectangle(Point.Empty, iconSize)); } But that just scales the 32 x 32 icon down into an ugly 16 x 16. I've considered just pulling icons out of the VS Image Library, but I really want them to vary dynamically with the OS (XP icons on XP, Vista icons on Vista, etc.). I'm willing to P/Invoke if that's what it takes.

  • How do I create regex groups for replacement?

    - by resting
    I have this sample string: Image: SGD$45.32 SKU: 3f3f3 dfdfd grg4t BP 6yhf Pack Size: 1000's Color: Green Price: SGD$45.32 SGD$45... I would like to remove all the prices namely: SGD$45.32 Price: SGD$45.32 SGD$45 I have this expression thats supposed to match the 3 groups: $pattern = '/(Price.+\sSGD\$\d+\.\d{2})(SGD\$\d+\.\d{2})(SGD\$\d+)/'; $new_snippet = preg_replace($pattern, '', $snippet);` But apparently its not working. It works if I replace a single group at a time. But, I'd like to know if it possible to replace all possible matching groups with a single statement. Tried preg_match_all($pattern, $snippet, $matches); to show matches based on the above pattern, but no matches are found if I put all 3 groups together.

  • getting part of an image with javascript

    - by Alper
    Hi all, i want to ask that, is it possible to show any part of image in img tag (with pixels) via Javascript. I mean, i'll prepare a big image (e.g. 32x320 pixels) and i'll define starting position (X,Y , e.g. 0,32) and width/height (e.g. 32,32), so script will show second (32x32 pixel) part of main image.. I hope i can explain. Thanks right now..

  • Reference platform specific System.Data.SQLite

    - by Dmitriy Nagirnyak
    I am using SQLite for the unit testing and might use it as a database for local development/staging. The System.Data.SQLite has basically 2 versions: x86 and x64. Correct one should be used for the specific platform. I have 64 bit Win7, other guys in the team might use 32-bit OSs. The server's platform is not known at this stage. If I use 32-bit version of the assembly on 64-bit platform I get BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite'. I believe similar will happen trying to use 64-bit assembly on 32-bit platform. So my question is what is the best way to reference the SQLite assembly so that it does not depend on the platform and people can just use it? It is ok to use 32-bit version of assembly on a 64-bit platform (Maybe there is a switch for that somewhere?).

  • Porting - Shared Memory x32 & x64 processes

    - by dpb
    A 32 bit host Windows application setups shared memory (using memory mapped file / CreateFileMapping() API), and then other 32 bit client processes use this shared memory to communicate with each other. I am planning to port the host application to 64 bit platform and once it is ready, I intend that both 32 bit and 64 bit client processes should be able to use the shared memory setup by the main 64 bit host application. The original code written for host x32 application uses "size_t" almost everywhere, since this differs from 4 bytes to 8 bytes as we move from x32 to x64, I am looking for replacing it. I intend to replace "size_t" by "unsigned long long", so that its size will be same on 32 bit & 64 bit. Can you please suggest me better alternative? Also, will the use of "unsigned long long" have performance impact on x32 app .. i guess yes? Research Done - Found very useful articles - a) 20 issue in porting from 32 bit to 64 bit (www.viva64.com) b) No way to restrict/change "size_t" on x64 platform to 4 bytes using compiler flags or any hooks/crooks since it is typedef

  • Flash doesn't connect to socket even though policy allows it

    - by Bart van Heukelom
    In my Flash app, I'm connecting to my server like this: Security.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://example.com:12860"); socket = new Socket("example.com", 12869); socket.writeByte(...); ... socket.flush(); At port 12860 I'm running a socket policy server, which (according to this document) correctly serves up my policy like this: 00000000 3c 70 6f 6c 69 63 79 2d 66 69 6c 65 2d 72 65 71 <policy- file-req 00000010 75 65 73 74 2f 3e 00 uest/>. 00000000 3c 63 72 6f 73 73 2d 64 6f 6d 61 69 6e 2d 70 6f <cross-d omain-po 00000010 6c 69 63 79 3e 3c 73 69 74 65 2d 63 6f 6e 74 72 licy><si te-contr 00000020 6f 6c 20 70 65 72 6d 69 74 74 65 64 2d 63 72 6f ol permi tted-cro 00000030 73 73 2d 64 6f 6d 61 69 6e 2d 70 6f 6c 69 63 69 ss-domai n-polici 00000040 65 73 3d 22 6d 61 73 74 65 72 2d 6f 6e 6c 79 22 es="mast er-only" 00000050 20 2f 3e 3c 61 6c 6c 6f 77 2d 61 63 63 65 73 73 /><allo w-access 00000060 2d 66 72 6f 6d 20 64 6f 6d 61 69 6e 3d 22 2a 22 -from do main="*" 00000070 20 74 6f 2d 70 6f 72 74 73 3d 22 31 32 38 36 39 to-port s="12869 00000080 22 20 2f 3e 3c 2f 63 72 6f 73 73 2d 64 6f 6d 61 " /></cr oss-doma 00000090 69 6e 2d 70 6f 6c 69 63 79 3e 00 in-polic y>. I get no security warnings, which I used to get before the policy server was in place. Still, the connection to port 12869 doesn't work. It's made (I can see with Wireshark and on the server), but no data is sent by Flash. It might be worth knowing that the SWF itself is served from example.com as well.

  • Ubuntu Server 10.10 vs. Fedora Server 14 for Mono.NET app hosting in VM

    - by Abbas
    Ubuntu Server 10.10 vs. Fedora Server 14 I want to create a web-server running Mono, MySQL 5.5 and OpenLDAP running as a VM (on VMWare Workstation). Searching “Ubuntu Server vs. Fedora Server” mostly yields flame wars and noise. There are a few good articles available but they are either out-of-date or don’t offer very convincing arguments. I know the answer is most likely to be “it depends” but I wanted to harness the collective wisdom on ServerFault and get opinions, experiences and factual information to the extent possible. My selection criteria would be (other than what is mentioned above): Ease of use Ease of development Reliability Security
