  While putting together some examples of the Solaris 11 Automated Installer (AI), I managed to really mess up my system, to the point where AI was completely unusable. This was my fault as a combination of unfortunate incidents left some remnants that were causing problems, so I tried to clean things up. Unsuccessfully. Perhaps that was a bad idea (OK, it was a terrible idea), but this is Solaris 11 and there are a few more tricks in the sysadmin toolbox. • Make one monitor act like two, split in half

  Context: Ubuntu 11.10, Unity Let's say I have a screen at resolution 1000x500. What I'd like to do is split the screen down the middle so [Unity or X or ?] acts as if there are two displays (each of 500x500). Examples: Unity will display a different toolbar (the top one) on each side of the display. If I maximize a window on the left side of the screen, it will fill the left side only. If I maximize on the right, it will fill the right. If I hit "fullscreen" in youtube (flash) or Chrome or Movie Player, it will only fill the side of the display that it's on. If it's really is impossible to do this with Unity, will it work with Gnome3 and how? A million thanks!

• Why would some POST data go missing when using Uploadify?

  I have been using Uploadify in my PHP application for the last couple months, and I've been trying to track down an elusive bug. I receive emails when fatal errors occur, and they provide me a good amount of details. I've received dozens of them. I have not, however, been able to reproduce the problem myself. Some users (like myself) experience no problem, while others do. Before I give details of the problem, here is the flow. User visits edit screen for a page in the CMS I am using. Record id for the page is put into a form as a hidden value. User clicks the Uploadify browse button and selects a file (only single file selection is allowed). User clicks Submit button for my form. jQuery intercepts the form submit action, triggers Uploadify to start uploading, and returns false for the submit action (manually cancelling the form submit event so that Uploadify can take over). Uploadify uploads to a custom process script. Uploadify finishes uploading and triggers the Javascript completion callback. The Javascript callback calls $('#myForm').submit() to submit the form. Now that's what SHOULD happen. I've received reports of the upload freezing at 100% and also others where "I/O Error" is displayed. What's happening is, the form is submitting with the completion callback, but some post parameters present in the form are simply not in the post data. The id for the page, which earlier I said is added to the form as a hidden field, is simply not there in the post data ($_POST)--there is no item for 'id' in the $_POST array. The strange thing is, the post data DOES contain values for some fields. For instance, I have an input of type text called "name" which is for the record name, and it does show up in the post data. Here is what I've gathered: This has been happening on Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6, Windows XP, and Windows 7. I can post exact user agent strings if that helps. Users must use Flash 10.0.12 or later. We've made it so the form reverts to using a normal "file" field if they have < 10.0.12. Does anyone have ANY ideas at all what the cause of this could be?

  I have a Form with a DataGridView which DataSource is a BindingSource to a table. This view will have a single row selection and a button to delete, edit the current selected row in a popup Form and a insert button that will use the same Form as well. My question is how can I sync the pop Form with the current row? I tryied to use the RowStateChanged event to get and store the current selected Row to be used in the Form but I coudnt. After the event I get the row that was selected before. Other thing I dont understand yet in C# how to have a single recordSet and know wich is the current record even if its a new being inserted in a way that once in the Form all data being entered will show up at the same time in the DataGridView.

• Adding a generic image field onto a ModelForm in django

  I have two models, Room and Image. Image is a generic model that can tack onto any other model. I want to give users a form to upload an image when they post information about a room. I've written code that works, but I'm afraid I've done it the hard way, and specifically in a way that violates DRY. Was hoping someone who's a little more familiar with django forms could point out where I've gone wrong. Update: I've tried to clarify why I chose this design in comments to the current answers. To summarize: I didn't simply put an ImageField on the Room model because I wanted more than one image associated with the Room model. I chose a generic Image model because I wanted to add images to several different models. The alternatives I considered were were multiple foreign keys on a single Image class, which seemed messy, or multiple Image classes, which I thought would clutter my schema. I didn't make this clear in my first post, so sorry about that.   In my Delphi Project i want to have a 'Settings' button that when clicked, opens a second form (i think this is the correct term, i essentially want a new window to open) for settings. When the user has finished changing the settings on this new form, i want the form to close on a button click. The settings the user types in will also need to be accessible to the first, 'main' form. So, for example, if my programme consisted of a main form, that calculated 'A' + 'B' (A and B being integer variables), with the settings form allowing the user to set values for A and B, how would i do this?

This may be a simple-enough question, but the curse of 10 years of WinForms/WebForms makes this MVC malarky hard to get your head 'round.

Is there a valid use case for English prose to code? Do compilers exist that do this? The distinction between this and auto generated code, is that auto generated code is generally always a subset of a project. Can we have complete projects auto generated from english prose? I realise that this might overlap with the concept of declarative languages.

  Hello, I have several forms that are localized to multiple languages. If I do a change on one form (for example, changing the size of a textbox) the change is done only on the localized version of the Form that I have currently selected. Is there a way of extending the change I've done the different localized versions of the same Form to avoid having to go one by one doing the same change by hand? Thanks in advance for your help. EDIT: I'm talking about different forms when the real thign is that you have one form and several resources. The point is that at the end is just like if you have different forms for each locale because the form is built with the data from the resource. The problem is still the same because the edits done on the form are stored at one resource file and I have to put by hand those edits in all the resources.

• /etc/network/interfaces doesn't always take affect

  For some reason my eth0 does not have internet on reboot sometimes. I am using a static ip. I can ping my gateway, but I am unable to ping dns servers, or anything out of my network. It seems that when my internet does work(Usually but just restarting enough times), my /etc/resolv.conf has a nameserver in it. It is empty when I have no internet access. I believe something is overwriting my interfaces settings sometimes on boot. Any help would be appreciated.   I have a USB key that contains my keepass2 password database and I'd like to perform some actions when it is plugged into my computer, namely: Auto-mount it to some specific location When the mounting is done properly, launching keepass2 on the password database file Simple tasks I guess, but I can't find how to do that. I'm using Ubuntu 12.10, and it auto-mounts the device as a "media usb-key" and tries to open the images on it (even though there are none). What is the best way to do that and to disable the ubuntu auto-mounting (so it doesn't conflict) ?

  Goal: Rebuild indexes in SQL server. This can be done one at a time or with the example script below to rebuild all index for a specified table or for all tables in a given database. Why? The data in indexes gets fragmented over time. That means that as the index grows, the newly added rows to the index are physically stored in other sections of the allocated database storage space. Kind of like when you load your Christmas shopping into the trunk of your car and it is full you continue to load some on the back seat, in the same way some storage buffer is created for your index but once that runs out the data is then stored in other storage space and your data in your index is no longer stored in contiguous physical pages. To access the index the database manager has to "string together" disparate fragments to create the full-index and create one contiguous set of pages for that index. Defragmentation fixes that. What does the fragmentation affect?Depending of course on how large the table is and how fragmented the data is, can cause SQL Server to perform unnecessary data reads, slowing down SQL Server’s performance.Which index to rebuild?As a rule consider that when reorganize a table's clustered index, all other non-clustered indexes on that same table will automatically be rebuilt.   Several times in the past I've bought a domain through Google Apps, and every year Google automatically renews the domain for $10. Somehow when I did this today, I ended up additionally being signed up for an annual Google Apps for Business plan at $12/license/yr. I don't need this; I'm only one user. I'd like to cancel this $12/yr Google Apps plan without cancelling the automatical $10/yr domain renewal. However, there is no "cancel" or "downgrade" link, apparently (according to the help docs) because I have an annual pre-paid account. If I choose not to auto-renew my annual account, it also declines auto-renewal of my domain. How can I make this domain just like my others -- auto-renewed at $10/yr, with a free Google Apps account in front of it?
