I'm trying to setup a Perl development environment on my Mac laptop and have been having a really hard time getting it working. I thought I had everything configured correctly but when I try to run a sample script it is reporting errors with the DBI module and can't access the DB. Here is what is reported in the Apache error logs: [Fri Apr 30 23:11:33 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Can't locate DBI.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0 /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0 .) at main.pm line 5. Is it possible to Embed Gecko or Webkit in a Windows Form just like a WebView?

Hi, I'd love to know if there is such thing as a Gecko.NET ;) I mean, just like we can embed a WebView and that is an "instance" of IE7 inside any Windows Forms application (and tell it to "navigateto (fancy_url);", I'd love to use FireFox or WebKit. Anybody tried this? UPDATE: Please bear in mind that although it is possible to embed gecko using the mentioned controls, it is still impossible to print while using gecko. UPDATE March 2010: It’s still not possible to print natively using GeckoFX, however a couple of methods exist that may be enough, depending upon what you’re trying to do. Postback event not firing on FIRST button click..

Hi, I have a form which accepts two arguments. The first one is mode - this is either view, new or edit. If it is new then the second argument is type - this is either range, collection or design. When set to new, and the type is valid, a new instance of that type is created and the data from the form is added to it. The item (range, collection or design) then validates the data. If any of the data is invalid then it throws an error, and this error is displayed at the top of the form telling the user why it is invalid. A variable, _Databind, is set to false so that it does not change the data input by the user (in the form fields). The button used to submit the button is called btnSave, and is created in the html source. The click event is wired up in the form Protected Sub Blah(sender, e) Handles btnSave.Click. Strangely, whenever I edit an item that already exists the form submits fine the first time - the click event is fired. However when in "new" mode I have to click the button twice to fire the event. It also blanks all the form fields out on first click. I have even put a Response.Write("Hello World") line at the start of the click event - this is not being output on first click when adding a new item either. It is on first load when the mode is set to edit however. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing it to behave this way? Thanks in advance for any help. Regards, Richard

Relative Footer with Absolute DIV Elements

Hi, I'm creating a wordpress theme where the header and the nav bar are positioned absolutely, and the footer needs to be positioned relatively depending on the height of the content on each page. When I try to set the footer's positioning to relative, however, it appears at the top of the page underneath the content. All elements are in a relatively positioned container. Is there any way to fix this, or to dynamically get the height of the content plus the header and nav bar? sencha dataitem datamap setItems

I'm trying to follow the kitten example given here http://www.sencha.com/blog/dive-into-dataview-with-sencha-touch-2-beta-2#comment_form and I have complex components in which one of the property of my data is a list of objects. And I do find a method for setting a list of objects which is setItems however it does not seem to work. My object array is my model MyApp.Model.Sponsor. Could anyone suggest what I'm missing to get this working? jQuery AJAX call not working in Webkit

I've run into a strange issue with Webkit based browsers (both Safari and Chrome - I'm testing on a Mac) and I am not sure what is causing it. I've tried changing the form submit button from "button" to "submit", but that also prevents it from working on Safari or Chrome. What I am trying to accomplish is: submit the form call another script to get status on the file being uploaded via the form (it's for a small upload progress meter). Explicit return form a Ruby method - implementation hiding, reuse and optimisations.

Hi, Rather than allowing a Ruby method to blindly return the last statement evaluated, is there any advantage to returning nil explicitly? In terms of implementation hiding and reuse, it seems dangerous to blindly allow the last expression evaluated to be returned - isn't there a danger that a user will rely on this only to get a nasty surprise when the implementation is modified? Surely returning nil would be better unless an explicit return value was given. Following on, is there an optimisation that Ruby can make when the return is a simple type rather than a reference to a more complex object? Chris

For example, if I have 3 views to display via a ViewPager, it should return back to the first View after the third View on fling instead of stopping at that third view. Violating 1st normal form, is it okay for my purpose?

So I'm making a running log, and I have the workouts stored as entries in a table. For each workout, the user can add intervals (which consist of a time and a distance), so I have an array like this: [workout] => [description] => [comments] => ... [intervals] => [0] => [distance] => 200m [time] => 32 [1] => [distance] => 400m [time] => 65 ... I'm really tempted to throw the "intervals" array into serialize() or json_encode() and put it in an "intervals" field in my table, however this violates the principles of good database design (which, incidentally, I know hardly anything about). Is there any disadvantage to doing this? I never plan on querying my table based on the contents of "intervals". Creating a separate table just for intervals seems like a lot of unnecessary complexity, so if anyone with more experience has had a situation like this, what route did you take and how did it work out?

Say you construct an activerecord query that will always just return a single value, how do you just address that single value instead of getting an array in return? For instance I am using an ActiveRecord query to return the SUM of a single column, it will only return this one single SUM, instead of having to parse the array is there a way to assign the value as a function return equal to that value instead of getting an array?

ComboBox exception caused in winforms FormClosing event

Using c# vs2008 winforms I have an application with a bunch of child winforms. Each time a form is closed I need to store the current selected value of a combobox that is on each form to a Global application variable so that I can track it and use it in new forms. The combobox is populated on form start via a method to set its datasource to an ArrayList of items What I have found is if the combobox is populated with items in the designer, and you try to get the combobox value in the form closing event, I always get a NullReferenceException. However if the comboBox has an datasource like I DO have in my application and I try to get the combobox value in the form closing event then I would say 95% of the time I DO NOT get the NullReferenceException, but I do get it 5% of the time. That ratio can even vary depending on what computer I run the application on. for example I have 1 computer where the exception always occurs. My question is therefore what is (the best) way to get the value of the combobox, last thing before the form closes without causing the exception. I would def prefer to do it last thing before the form closes rather than track it with every selected index change event. Any advice appreciated.

How do I get date form week, working also with 53-week years? c#

Hey, I have made a function to cound the weeks in a year, and that works fine. The problem is that I need a method to get the mondaydate of the week. This is a swedish calendar. The code below works well for years that have 52 weeks, but some years(like 2009) has 53 weeks. Then I got a date from januari as the mondaydate(cant be right). So please help me to get it to work for all years. What I probably could do is check if the year has 53 weeks and then do some checks but I'd like it to go smooth without special checks. Hello all, I've just gotten started using BDD with RSpec/Cucumber/Webrat and Rails and I've run into some frustration trying to get my view spec to pass. First of all, I am running Ruby 1.9.1p129 with Rails 2.3.2, RSpec and RSpec-Rails 1.2.6, Cucumber 0.3.11, and Webrat 0.4.4. I have a client whose desire is to have her Wordpress blog show a MailChimp form on her home page as a gateway to a .pdf. I need the following behavior to occur when the user clicks "Submit": execute the included MailChimp's javascript file; this ensures the form was properly filled, and then performs the sign-up to the newsletter list (don't need help with this part) then show the user an informational PDF for download or viewing EDIT: The logical order was flipped from when I originally posted this. The script should execute, and only if the script gets executed properly should the PDF show to the user Note: My experience level with HTML and PHP is 3/4, and with JS I am 2/4 EDIT: (seems more like 1/4 at this point lol). If my research is correct, PHP (server-side language) would be used to do that which the client wants. Additional validation is not necessary beyond what MailChimp's script provides (it ensures that user has submitted a completed form) is not necessary in this case (the client says it's ok if the e-mail isn't valid at all).
