• How can I increase the size of the hard disk used by my Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) vm?

  In Virtual Machine Manager admin console, I used the 'New virtual machine' wizard and created a machine from an existing template. When I got to the Configure Hardware step, I selected the primary hard disk (which is a dynamic) disk and tried to increase it's maximum size, but this control is disabled so I can't increase it. It's not big enough for my purposes. how do I increase the maximum size of the hard-disk? Thanks. Edit: I am able to add a second hard disk of a size I specify. That's not useful though as I'm trying to install some software, some of which insists on being on drive C.

• Is it possible to create a Mirror or Stripe volume for the boot partition in Windows 2008/R2?

  Hello, I have a server with two identical disks and I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on C, which is a 60GB volume on Disk 0. Using the disk manager, I have attempted to create both a Mirror and Stripe volume in Disk 1 but every time I get the same error "No extents found in the plex". This error occurs after Windows has converted both disks to Dynamic. The fact that the manager allows me to attempt to do this would point to the fact that this is possible. However I have been unable to find any solutions to this error. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks Georgios

• Jquery autosuggest google maps - Load on selection

  At the moment, the Google map code works like this: When you start typing in the input box it loads a list of suggestions. Then when you click on one of these options from the list, it puts it into the input box. However, THEN you still have to click find to load up the result. I want to have it so when you click on an option from the autosuggest list, it automatically loads the result, without having to click "find" afterwards. This is the code I am working with.   Hi, I'm developing an application that requires a textarea to be used in which no. of characters are restricted to 165. I made an object of JTextArea with row & column no. 3,3 respectively but it didn't work as when I went on typing, the size of 'Textarea' went on increasing.How to restrict that? As I've used 'DocumentListener' for noting no. of characters typed,deleted,cut and pasted, I'm getting problem when suddenly the size of textarea is increased. Thank you!

  Is it possible to set a password textbox text to text that the user could not reproduce on their end? Like are there special characters that can only be set from the server? For instance, one way to do this would be to use javascript to prevent typing of *'s, and to set the textbox text to be all *'s. But that's hacky. The motivation is to be able to tell on the server if the user changed the password at all, but not to restrict them from having a password of all *'s, for instance.

  There is now a Cpanel plugin to fairly easily setup Nginx as a reverse proxy on a Cpanel/Apache server. I've been simultaneously interested in setting up my first unmanaged VPS and my first Nginx server and as a masochist figured why not combine the two. I'm wondering however if it's worth setting up a pure Nginx server vs trying out cpNginx on Apache? My goal is solely to host WordPress sites and while what I've read raves about Nginx's is exceptional ability serving static at least as a reverse proxy, I am unclear if there is substantial benefit to running a pure nginx with eAccelorator over cpNginx on Apache for dynamic sites? Regardless I'll be running W3TC on all sites to cache content, but am still interested if there are big CPU reductions running PHP scripts under pure Nginx over cpNginx?

  Hi I am building a script for users new to Linux, so please understand why I am asking this :) My script runs like this: python script.py -f filename.txt I am using the optparse module for this. However, I noticed the following when doing tab completion. The tab completion works when I do: python script.py <tab completion> # Tab completion works normally as expected But it does not work when I do it like this: python script.py -f <tab completion> # No type of tab completion works here. I really don't want my users typing the name of the input file. Tab completion is a must. How can I get it working or what am I doing wrong here?

• Eclipse + CVS use custom commit

  Hi All, My admin has set up the "cvs commit" in a very non traditional way, instead of typing "cvs commit" I use the admin provided "scriptname modified file" to checkin the file to CVS. I am using Eclipse to my day to day work and till now I am using the Eclipse CVS Plugin to checkout the repo,update,compare,etc and use the command line to checkin. I am getting annoyed by having to go to command line to do the commit, is there any way I can make Eclipse accept when I say commit it invokes the admin script instead of "cvs commit" ? I spoke to Admin and moving the under the cvs pre-commit hooks is not an option. What can I do ? I know fair amount of "Java" I am willing to do some changes to CVS plugin if I know how and where.   Many are familiar with the hello world program in C #include <stdio.h> main () { printf ("hello world"); return 0; } Why do some precede the main () function with int as in: int main() Also, I've seen the word 'void' entered inside the () as in: int main(void) It seems like extra typing for nothing, but maybe it's a best practice that pays dividends in other situations? Also, why precede main() with an int if you're returning a character string? If anything, one would expect: char main(void) I'm also foggy about why we return 0 at the end of the function.

  Can someone explain to me why these comparisons work they way the do. I had a bug in one of my scripts that took me a little bit to work through. I was using read-host and typing a number. It was storing it as a string. If so why does the first one show $false, it should be $true. Then how is it when you chage it to an int of 10 it because $true.

• I have a 21TB array but only 16TB is visible from Windows

  CONTROLLER Raid Controller: 3Ware 9650SE-24M8 Disks: 21 x 1TB RAID5 Stripe 64KB WINDOWS OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2 32x Disk: Dynamic 19557.44GB Volume: Capacity 15832.19GB I guess my array must have a 4KB block size which is limiting it to 16TB. I think I would have to switch to a 64KB block size to be able to see a maximum of 256TB. Or create another unit on my controller to go above 16TB of storage. Unfortunately I have already added over 16TB, ideally I would like to shrink the array and reclaim the 5 disks that aren't doing anything. I don't think this is possible. More likely, can I change the block size so 20TB becomes visible in windows?

  I've noticed that in Aptana 2.0 over 1.5.1 that when typing a php function, you no longer get the popup window showing the function description and it's parameters. Does anyone know how to get this working again? As I relied on it quite heavily to remember which parameters went where. Open in PHP Manual shortcut Shift+F2 also doesn't work either, so all I can do is open my browser and keep php.net open all the time. Are either of these features functional? I know that Open delcaration has never worked annoyingly, but I had the function popup in 1.5.1 perfectly.

  I have an Ubuntu Server 12 virtualbox guest running on a Windows 7 host which has a dynamic IP (and I don't wanna change this considering it's a laptop and I'm changing network frenquently). I want to have a static IP for my VM and a SSH access from my host but I still want to have the internet access on my VM. I tried added a second host only adapter and configured /etc/network/interface to set eth1 to a static ip, but I can't connect via SSH to it. Setting only adapter1 to host only works for SSH and static IP but I lose the internet access.

  Modern browsers such as Firefox and Chrome are able to shutdown and restore the same group of tabs they had before the next time you open them, and even sometimes remember additional tab state such as scroll position within the tab. I would like ideally to be able to select a group of tabs (about some coherent theme, perhaps) and save them away into some kind of "folder" that I could later open independently, without opening any other tabs. Obviously I can use bookmarks for this, but bookmarks are kind of old-fashioned. It would be excellent if it could also record forms that I had filled in but not submitted, scroll position, tab position within the tab group, and any other "dynamic" aspects of the current tab state.

  How can I create an empty file from emacs, ideally from within a dired buffer? For example, I've just opened a Python module in dired mode, created a new directory, opened that in dired, and now need to add an empty __init__.py file in the directory. If I use C-x C-f __init__.py RET C-x C-s then emacs doesn't create the file because no changes have been made to it. I would have to type in the file, save it, delete my typing and then save it again for that to work. Thanks

However, some people in our organisation are a bit slow and can't type their selection quick enough, with the result that the timeout is triggered and the "select as you type" process starts all over again. Example: If I type A-R-M-A (looking for Armadale) then wait half a second and type D, I'll get selections beginning with the letter D. What I want to do is increase this timeout to allow for slow typers. (We're in a corporate environment so rolling out these changes to all machines won't be a problem).

  Hello. I am trying to establish a site-to-site VPN tunnel between an old SOHO3 and an ASA 5505. The ASA has a static IP and the SOHO3 is dynamic. I have tried everything my limited knowledge lets me and need some advice on how to proceed! Phase 1 (according to the ASA logs) completes - followed by a message saying "All IPSec SA proposals found unacceptable!" so I guess the settings between the two don't match. I have played with various combinations and nothing seems to work - I am overlooking something, just not sure what it is! Any help would be appreciated.

  Hi, This is probably a stupid question, but how do I run a class file on windows 7? I usually create my own .java files and then use a basic IDE (with JDK6) to compile it to a class and run it automatically. My professor gave a .class file that we are supposed to play with extensively but I have no idea how to to run it here. Note that I cannot run it by typing: java classname.class because it contains gui stuff especially buttons and such.
