Standalone jQuery "touch" method?

So, I'm looking to implement the ability for a plugin I wrote to read a touch "swipe" from a touch-capable internet device, like an iPhone, iPad or android. Is there anything out there? I'm not looking for something as full as jQtouch, though was considering reverse engineering the code I would need out of it. Any suggestions on the best way to approach this? A snippet of code already available? Addendum: I realize in hindsight the solution won't strictly be jQuery, as I'm pretty sure there aren't any built-in methods to handle this. I would expect standard Javascript to find itself in the answer.

Jquery - Move Div around

Hi there guys, I am using Jquery Drag and drop to move divs across a page and this works perfectly. however what i would like is on each one of the div containers is to have a close button which when clicks removes the div from where it is and places it in a pre-defined div at the bottom like a widget gallery. I have the following situation with an autocomplete plugin on an .aspx page. It is working fine. The result from the autocomplete search yields a product id and a product description is concatenated with it (i.e. 2099 -- A Product). I know that I need to use split() with this but where do I put it? Evaluation of jQuery function variable value during definition of that function

I have a large number of rows in a table within which I wish to attach a unique colorpicker (jQuery plugin) to each cell in a particular column identified by unique ids. Given this, I want to automate the generation of instances of the colorpicker as follows: var myrows={"a","b","c",.....} var mycolours={"ffffff","fcdfcd","123123"...} for (var i=0;i<myrows.length;i++) { $("#"+myrows[i]+"colour").ColorPicker({flat: false, color: mycolours[i], onChange: function (hsb, hex, rgb) { $("#"+myrows[i]+"currentcolour").css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); } }); Now this doesn't work because the evaluation of the $("#"+myrows[i]+"currentcolour") component occurs at the time the function is called, not when it is defined (which is want I need). Given that this plugin javascript appends its code to the level and not to the underlying DOM component that I am accessing above so can't derive what id this pertains to, how can I evaluate the variable during function declaration/definition? jQuery Validation using the class instead of the name value

Hi, I'd like to validate a form using the jquery validate plugin, but I'm unable to use the 'name' value within the html - as this is a field also used by the server app. Specifically, I need to limit the number of checkboxes checked from a group. (Maximum of 3.) All of the examples I have seen, use the name attribute of each element. What I'd like to do is use the class instead, and then declare a rule for that. html This works: <input class="checkBox" type="checkbox" id="i0000zxthy" name="salutation" value="1" /> This doesn't work, but is what I'm aiming for: <input class="checkBox" type="checkbox" id="i0000zxthy" name="i0000zxthy" value="1" /> javascript: var validator = $(".formToValidate").validate({ rules:{ "salutation":{ required:true, }, "checkBox":{ required:true, minlength:3 } } }); Is it possible to do this - is there a way of targeting the class instead of the name within the rules options? Hi, I'm trying to check whether val() has a specific value or not inside a form, if so deleting the contents / preventing the form being submitted depending on if both fields are filled in (stringOne and stringTwo). There's a default text for each input field, the first being "Namn, telefonnr, sökord" and the second "Område, plats, ort". If a user only fills in the first field the second must be cleared before the form string is passed on and vice versa. OK, for the life of me I can't uderstand why the follwing code is always returning false?? JQuery - is at least one checkbox checked

I am in the process of learning JQuery thanks mostly to the positive reference here on Stack Overflow. I need a function that checks all the checkboxes in an element which have the same CSS class. It should returns true if at least one of them is checked. There are also other boxes in the element that are irrelevant to the check. The CSS class is unnecessary and only in place to create a way to identify the checkboxes in the group. It feels like bad practice, so any recommendations about other ways to identify them are welcome.

Im using drupal 6.x and created an RSS feed of the recent images using the views module. I have no idea how to connect the two. Any suggestions? I have a feeling an RSS feed might not be the best way to go about this, but it's all I could come up with. Thanks for the help.

Using jQuery to find keywords in string

In php, I have used preg_match_all() to find keywords (using the format %keyword%) in a string, which works wonderfully and returns an array of all found keywords. What I would like to do, is do the same thing using jQuery or javascript. I have tried using the filter() function, and it kind of works. But I think I am missing something. How can I find ALL instances of the keyword in a string, using a regex? Here is what I have worked out so far: $("[id^='editableContent-']").filter(function() { alert($(this).html().match(/\%(.*?)\%/)); }); Any suggestions are welcome!

Fade out text value inside of text field using jQuery

I am not entirely sure if this is possible or not, I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to jQuery and JavaScript in general, but this one has me stumped. I've created a simple plugin that clears a text input on focus and then displays the default value if nothing has been entered. Is it possible to fade out just the text itself inside of the text input, and not the whole field itself? All attempts seem to result in the text field itself fading out and eventually hiding the element from view. I did come up with a solution of using spans containing the default value and absolutely positioning them over the text input, hiding and showing them depending if a user has entered any text or not. I would much rather a much straightforward approach if one exists.

why is css not being applied to this jquery anchor button?

I must be missing something very basic in the CSS. My jQuery anchor button is functional, but it's rendering as a simple underlined label, not asa rounded-corner UI button. IE7 not digesting JSON: "parse error"

While trying to GET a JSON, my callback function is NOT firing. $.ajax({ type:"GET", dataType:'json', url: myLocalURL, data: myData, success: function(returned_data){alert('success');} }); The strangest part of this is that my JSON(s) validates on JSONlint this ONLY fails on IE7...it works in Safari, Chrome, and all versions of Firefox. If I use 'error', then it reports "parseError"...even though it validates! Is there anything that I'm missing? Does IE7 not process certain characters, data structures (my data doesn't have anything non-alphanumeric, but it DOES have nested JSONs)? I have used tons of other AJAX calls that all work (even in IE7), but with the exception of THIS call. An example data return here is: {"question":{ "question_id":"19", "question_text":"testing", "other_crap":"none" }, "timestamp":{ "response":"answer", "response_text":"the text here" } } I am completely at a loss. Hopefully someone has some insight into what's going on...thank you!

JQuery: which element was clicked?

I have a list with links. These links are links to tables on the same page. What I want to do is whatever link I click in the list it will show its corresponding table and hide all the others. Without adding a different id/class to each link in the list and its corresponding table, is there a way to find out which element was clicked and show() its table? From what I understand JQuery returns an array object on its selector. How can I find out what element of the array was clicked? I've tried to use event.which but I'm a little lost. Help is greatly appreciated!

Add CSS Class to link based on Character Count with jquery

I have links that load dynamically onto a background to make them look like buttons. Some of the links take up two lines and some of the links take up 1 line. Eithe way they need to be vertically centered. My plan to to append a class based on the number of characters and then adjust the padding from there. So if the link's text is 25 characters (including spaces) or less - append class 'small' if the link's text is greater than 25 characters - append class 'large' How would I go about doing this with jQuery?

Posting Static & Variable length data to the Server with JQUERY & Coldfusion

I'm looking to post the following type of data to a server using JQUERY & Coldfusion: foodID - int foodDESC - text html text from a WYSIWYG (CKEDITOR) --there will always be just 1 foodID and foodDESC per POST to the server but there can be a variable number of: locationID - int LocationDesc - text --There can be 0-8+ of these. FancyBox, Obtaining an ATTR of the item clicked
