• GIT: clone works, remote push doesn't. Remote repository over copssh.

  Hi all, I've "setup-a-msysgit-server-with-copssh-on-windows", following Tim Davis' guide and I was now learning how to use the git commands, following Jason Meridth's guide, and I have managed to get everything working fine, but now I can't pass the push command. I have set the server and the client on the same machine (for now), win7-x64. • Getting the CVE ID Property of an update from WSUS API via Powershell

  I am writing a script in Powershell to get the update information from each computer and correlate the information with another System which identifies updates by CVE ID. I have discovered that there is a "CVEIDs" property for an update in WSUS, which is documented in MSDN, but I have no idea how to access the property. Retrieving the CVE ID from WSUS is the key to this script, so I am hoping someone out there can help! Here is the property that I am having difficulty accessing: IUpdate2::CveIDs Property - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa386102(VS.85).aspx According to this, the IUnknown::QueryInterface method is needed to interface IUpdate2 -  "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee917057(PROT.10).aspx" "An IUpdate instance can be retrieved by calling the IUpdateCollection::Item (opnum 8) (section 3.22.4.1) method.  The client can use the IUnknown::QueryInterface method to then obtain an IUpdate2, IUpdate3, IUpdate4, or IUpdate5 interface. • re-enabling a table for mysql replication

  We were able to setup mysql master-slave replication with the following version on both master/slave: mysqld Ver 5.5.28-29.1-log for Linux on x86_64 (Percona Server (GPL), Release 29.1) One day, we noticed that replication has stopped, we tried skipping over the entries that caused the replication errors. The errors persisted so we decided to skip replication for the 4 problematic tables. The slave has now caught up with the master except for the 4 tables. What is the best way to enable replication again for the 4 tables? This is what I have in mind but I don't know if it will work: 1) Modify slave config to enable replication again for the 4 tables 2) stop slave replication 3) for each of the 4 tables, use pt-table-sync --execute --verbose --print --sync-to-master h=localhost,D=mydb,t=mytable 4) restart slave database to reload replication configuration 5) start slave replication

• Microsoft Entourage/Exchange Server problem: all objects disappeared from server - still in some form on the client

  One of our employees works with Entourage on his MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6) accessing Exchange Server 2007. Last Friday morning, I think while working over a VPN, Entourage (I think it was Entourage) deleted all his objects (mail, calendar, contacts) on the server and while creating a lot of strange folders (starting with underscores) on the client. The local data seems to be there, but not in a consistent form. Since the user's mailbox is rather big, I suspect, that there was some kind of "move" operation which did not complete. I tried to export the data, but the export stops because of a corrupted object. Is there a tool or another way to export or retrieve the local data? Edit - FYI: we solved the problem getting his data from the previous night's backup.

• Password rules for yppasswd

  Hello all, I have a NIS master-slave setup and I would like to improve the password rules/complexity for it. Seems like if I introduce new rules to the NIS Master they are applicable only from there. What I mean: I want minimal password length of 9 characters. On the NIS master if I run 'passwd' it obeys this requirement. If I run 'yppasswd' it just go to the default 6 characters. If I use 'chage -d 0 user1' to force a user to change a password, the user is prompted only when login on the NIS Master. The user's old password is still good to login at NIS clients. All machines are running Ubuntu 9.10 or 10.04. How I can strengthen yppasswd rules and make it warn users to change their passwords? Thank you all!

  I'm trying to setup a mysql replication over an SSH tunnel. The odd thing about this setup is that I have one master with mysql 5.0.60sp1-enterprise-gpl-log and one slave with mysql 5.0.67-community-log. Could it be so that it's not possible to replicate between community and enterprise edition? As you can see in my log below, it's possible to login on the remote server with the mysql client. But the replication get "Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (13)" Is it any log file I have forgotten to look in, to get more info?   Hi guys, I have a primary write server (server1) which replications to two servers (server2 and server3) which are query servers. I am replicating all databases to these servers including the MySQL database. When i execute a GRANT as follows replication works perfectly.. GRANT execute,select ON database1.* TO `user1`@`host` IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; However if i did the same GRANT to alter permissions on an existing user without IDENTIFIED clause replication breaks.. Error 'Can't find any matching row in the user table' on query. Default database: 'mysql'. Query: 'GRANT execute,select ON database1.* TO `user`@`host`' If I try and run the query manually i get the same error.. • Ideas for scaling out database architecture

  We're looking to scale out our existing database architecture and need some advice on which way to go. We currently have 2 web servers behind a load balancer that both read & write to a single master database which replicates to a slave. Ideally, I'd like each of the webservers to point to their own master DB and have the data between the 2 synchronised but from what I've read, using any kind of master-master or ring-replication is discouraged. I'm looking for a general "what do other people do" kind of answer - database vendor isn't a concern at the moment but we'd like to stay with MySQL or convert to MSSQL. • Run Microsoft SCCM Remote Control Viewer on Client Machines?

  I've install SCCM 2012 on a server and have successfully used the Remote Control option to take control of a system I've setup to be managed by SCCM. Now, I don't want to have to log in to a server every time I want to access this client...is there a way to run the Remote Control Viewer client on my desktop OS so I can take remote control of systems rather than having to remote in from the server? This seems like very basic functionality...but I haven't been able to figure it out thus far.

  I thought I had a working solution for converting .mdi files to PDF using the Microsoft Office Document Imaging object model. The solution is in a Windows Service, but now I'm running into some errors that I'm having trouble tracking down info on. The exception I get is: The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT)) System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105): The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT)) at MODI.DocumentClass.Create(String FileOpen) at DocumentStore.Mdi2PDF(String path, String newPath) Then, in the Event Viewer there is the following Application error: Faulting application MyWindowsServiceName.exe, version 1.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4b97f185, faulting module mso.dll, version 12.0.6425.1000, time stamp 0x49d65443, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000bd8e, process id 0xa5c, application start time 0x01cac08cf032914b. Here's the method that is doing the conversion: private int? Mdi2PDF(String path, String newPath) { int? pageCount = null; string tmpTif = Path.GetTempFileName(); MODI.Document mdiDoc = new MODI.Document(); mdiDoc.Create(path); mdiDoc.SaveAs(tmpTif, MODI.MiFILE_FORMAT.miFILE_FORMAT_TIFF_LOSSLESS, MODI.MiCOMP_LEVEL.miCOMP_LEVEL_HIGH); mdiDoc.Close(false); pageCount = Tiff2PDF(tmpTif, newPath); if (File.Exists(tmpTif)) File.Delete(tmpTif); return pageCount; } I removed all threading from the service invoking this, so that only the primary thread was initializing the MODI object, but still got the error, so it doesn't appear to be threading related. I also built a a console apps converting hundreds of documents and DID NOT get the exception. So, it seems to be caused by creating too many instances of the MODI object, but only instantiated within a Service? Doesn't quite make sense. Anybody have any clues about these errors and how to debug them further?

• SQL Server Management Studio not scripting all objects

  i've been attempting to script a database using SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. i cannot get it to script some objects. It scripts others, but skips some. i can provide detailed screen shots the options being selected including all tables the folder where the script files will go the folder being empty before scripting the scripting process saying Sucess when scripting a table the destination folder no longer empty, with a hundred or so script files the script of some tables not being in the folder. And earlier SSMS would not script some views. Is this a known thing that the the Generate Scripts task does not generate scripts? Update Known issue on Microsoft Connect, but Microsoft couldn't repro the steps, so they closed closed the ticket. Fails on SQL Server 2005, also fails on SQL Server 2008. • Can't connect to samba

  Windows 7, connecting to Samba shares I have a follow up question from the link above. I am running Samba 3.0.23d on FreeBSD is release 7.1 I changed the policies as described above but still cannot connect to the samba server with the windows 7 or a server 2008. I feel it is a problem with recognizing the new machines on the network. the windows machines can see the samba server, but cannot connect to it or view any of the files. After changing the security policies the samba server asked for network id and password but would not allow the machine to connect, said they were unknown username or bad password. Here is my current config file. there is no sign of encryption anywhere, should I just add the line? not sure what that would do elsewhere. • F# and .Net versions

  I'm writing a program in F# at the moment, which I specified in the Visual Studio project setup to target .Net 3.5, this being the highest offered, on the theory that I might as well get the best available. Then I tried just now running the compiled program on an XP box, not expecting it to work, but just to see what would happen. Unsurprisingly I just got an error message demanding an appropriate version of the framework, but surprisingly it wasn't 3.5 it demanded, but 2.0.50727. An additional puzzle is the version of MSBuild I'm using to compile the release version of the program, which I found in the framework 3.5 directory but claims to be framework 2.0 and build engine 3.5. I just guessed it was the right version of MSBuild to use because it seemed to correspond with the highest framework version F# seems to be able to target, but should I be using a different version? Anyone have any idea what's going on? • Logging Apparently Not Working - Can't Set Configure Replication

  I'm using a tutorial to set up a master (single) slave setup. When I run the command show master status; I get Empty set (0.00 sec). I have done a lot of research and believe that the log file I have set up isn't being used properly. The master is a Windows server, and I am administering it through workbench. The log file (log-bin.log) I have configured in the options exists, and is accessible by 'System'. But when I open it as a text file it doesn't have any data. So I'm assuming it's not getting used properly. How can I get the logging happening so I can finish setting up this replication? Edit: Purely for reference here is the tutorial. I followed all the steps and double checked everything up until show master status.

• Bonding: works only from one link

• How to reset mysql's replication settings completely, without reinstalling it?

  I set up mysql replication by adding references to binlogs, relay logs etc in my.cnf restarted mysql, it worked. I wanted to change it so I deleted all binlog related files including log-bin.index, removed binlog statements from my.cnf restarted server, works set master to '', purge master logs since now(), reset slave, stop slave, stop master. now, to set up replication again, I added binlog statements to the server. But then I hit this problem when restarting with: sudo mysqld (the only way to see mysql's startup errors) I get this error: /usr/sbin/mysqld: File '/etc/mysql/var/log-bin.index' not found (Errcode: 13) Because indeed, this file does not exist! (I deleted it, while trying to set up a new replication system) Hmm, if I change the config line to: log-bin-index = log-bin.index I get a different error: [ERROR] Can't generate a unique log-filename /etc/mysql/var/bin.(1-999) [ERROR] MSYQL_BIN_LOG::open failed to generate new file name. [ERROR] Aborting The first time I set up replication on this system, I didn't need to create this file. I did the same thing - added references to a previously non-existing file, and mysql created it. Same with relay logs, etc. I don't know why mysql insists on trying to read the old folder. Should I just reinstall the whole package again? • Upgrading VSTO project to .net 4 - What references do I actually need?

  I'm developing an application for Office. It originally targeted .net 3.5, but I decided to upgrade to .net 4 because of some WPF issues that I've run into. When I switched all the projects in my solution and rebuilt, I got an error saying to include System.Xaml. I did that and rebuilt, and VS2010 told me to include another reference, so I did. This happened a couple more times, and finally it asked me to include Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.v9.0, and when I did I got this error: Microsoft.Office.Tools.CustomTaskPaneCollection exists in both Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.v9.0.dll and Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.dll I have both Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.v9.0 and Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common referenced in my project, but the problem is that if I remove either, I get an error. Am I doing something wrong? Is it odd that I would need both references? I find it strange that CustomTaskPaneCollection would be defined in two different binaries. If I remove Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common, the error that I get is "Cannot find the interop type that matches the embedded interop type 'Microsoft.Office.Tools.IAddInExtension'. Are you missing an assembly reference?"

• Win7 + SysPrep + CloneZilla = lost settings

  I've just cloned a PC (Win7 + SysPrep + CloneZilla) and after starting up the new clone, Win7 wants to be reactivated again and the video driver seems to be missing (as in the aero effect has disappeared from the new clone) and the internet connection settings seem to be missing too. All those were set in the master before running SysPrep. Why have these settings been lost? The master PC was had windows 7 activated using a volume license key, and the clone pc is the same make and model as the master computer.

• Excel 2007: Named ranges problems when linking workbooks

  I've 30+ workbooks each with 5 specific worksheets (formated the same). Each worksheet's data needs to be linked to a master workbook, so that I end up with 5 master workbooks and all the specific data in one long table format $A$2:$I$750. (Are you still with me? ;)) I don't have access to a database, so I'm having to link the sheets to their master workbook directly. I've highlighted the data I need; named the range; and then tried referencing this from my master workbook. I get the #Value error symbol when I try to link (=[WorkbookName]!MyNamedRange) to a cell that doesn't match the top left cell of my range. Example: MyNamedrange is always =$A$2:$I43$ on one specific sheet. On my master workbook it works if it's referenced at A2 but I get #Value if it's referenced A1, or A44. Any ideas? I'm trying to link my data in one continous table so I can run a pivot on it, and other things. Can it be done like this, or should I just copy and paste? I'm trying to keep things 'linked'so I do not need to spend time C&Ping all day. Many thanks Mike.

  I would like to backup, not only the databases that belong to a particular application living on a shared server, but also, those things that get stored outside of the database; the server accounts, jobs, maintenance plans and whatever else I can't think of at the moment. This backup should be complete enough that it's corresponding restore will recreate the entire application on a different SQL server. This seems like a problem others must have dealt with in the past. So before I embark on creating custom Powershell scripts for each application, I have come to ask you... Can you help?

• Import a puppet manifest from the node itself?

  I have a somewhat unique situation. Our systems team manages our main puppet master, and the development team is fine with everything however they are thinking of using it to control some elements on their desktop machines, whilst still being connected to our central puppet master. Since we don't want the changes they make to go into our puppet master.. is there a way of puppet importing a manifest from the node directly? As in.. on the developer machine, they put a file "/root/development.pp" or something, and then on our puppet master we put something like node { "developermachine": # Do the majority of normal things # import "/root/development.pp" } We have a few different options we can take about security of write access to the puppet manifests, but if puppet were to support something like this it would probably be the cleanest for us. Any help is appreciated :)
