• Super Joybox 5 HID 0925:8884 not recognized as joystick in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

  Problem: When using the "Super JoyBox 5" 4 port playstation 2 to USB adapter, the device is not recognized as a joystick. there is no js0 created, but instead another input eventX and mouseX are created in /dev/input. When using the directional buttons (up down left right) on a Playstation 1 controller attached to the device, the mouse cursor moves to the top, bottom, left, and right edges of the screen respectively. Buttons are unresponsive. The joypads attached to the device cannot be used in any games or other programs. Attempted remedies: Creating a symlink from the eventX to js0 does not solve the problem. Addl Info: joydev is loaded and running peroperly according to LSMOD. evtest can be run on the created eventX (sudo evtest /dev/input/event14 in my case) and the buttons and axes all register inputs. Aparently, this device used to work flawlessly on kernel 2.4.x systems, and even as late as ubunto 10.04. Perhaps the Joydev rules for identifying joypads has changed? Currently, this kind of bug is affecting a few different type of controller adapters, but since this is the one that i PERSONALLY have (and has been driving me my own special brand of crazy), its the one im documenting. What i think should be happening instead: The device should be registering js0 through js3, one for each port, or JS0 that will handle all of the connected devices with different numbered axes for each connected joypad. Either way, it should work as a joystick and stop controlling the mouse cursor. Please help!

  At my new gig, they use Ant and cannot be persuaded to move to Maven. I've looked everywhere for a decent example of how a multi-project ant build system should be assembled. The apache site falls short. I'm looking specifically for best practices to: Automatically build local projects that are dependencies of a project Share artifacts from project to their dependents Export a project's dependencies and generated artifacts (jars) to be inherited by dependent projects Share third-party dependencies between projects I'm sure I can do all this without using Ivy - what did people do before Ivy? I really don't want to have to set up a corporate repository or rely on external repositories - the engineers here are really against that and have all their third-party jars checked into src control. Can anyone point me at a good open source example of a multi-project ant build?

  I'm new to Pascal and FastReport. This question can probably be answered without knowledge of FastReport. Pascal is Delphi. FastReport4. I have a text box accepting an 8 character string as input. Each character should be numeric. I'm attempting to validate each character as numeric. I've tried using the val function... Procedure Val(S : String; var R: Real; Code : Integer); begin end; procedure thisinputOnChange(Sender: TfrxComponent); var S : String; error : Integer; R : Real; begin S := thisinput.lines.text; Val (S, R, error); If error > 0 then Button2.enabled := False; end; I got this code online. The explanation says that the function will return an error with a code greater than zero if the character cannot be converted to an integer. Is that explanation correct? Am I misinterpreting? Right now I am trying to set a button's enabled property to false if the validation fails. I might change that to a message. For now, I would like to get it to work by setting the button property. I'm not sure if I should be using the onChange event or another event. I'm also not sure if I need to send the input to the val function in a loop. Like I said, I'm just learning how to use this function. I am able to validate the length. It is known that the probability that the child won't like the second type of chocolate is doubled than the probability that he won't like the first type. What is the probability that the child like at least one of the two type of chocolates? So I tried: 1-[P(not like the first type AND not like the second type)] which is like: 1-[P(not like the first type)*P(not like first type / not like the second type) + P(not like the second type) which equals: P(not like first type / not like second type) But now, I don't have the data of the conditional probability.   Ok I'm very new to databases and C# in general, but I'm using a piece of code that exports dataset data to an Excel file, and its taking issue with the date/time format. I'm using the MySQL connector so the rowtype is MySql.Data.Types.MySqlDateTime. Is there any quick way to convert it into System.DateTime so I can slot it straight into the case statement? • SQL Server 2008 Express doesn't see my Visual Studio 2008 Team System's SP1

  Hi, I want to install SQL Server 2008 express. I have already Visual Studio 2008 Team System with SP1. VS in help about shows me: MVS version: 9.0.30729.1 SP .NET Framework version: 3.5 SP1 but installator of SQL Server shows me that Visual Studio doesn't have SP1. Anyway I tricked up him by change in win registry HKLM Software Microsoft DevDiv VS Servicing 9.0 IDE 1033 value from RTM on SP1 and instalation runs. But during instalation error was occured about SP1 again. SQL Server was installed without SQL Managment. When I try install it I have allways the same error about SP1. I was install SP1 couple times with success but it does nothing. I was instal SQL Server SP1 also but it does nothing. Reinstall of VS 2008 and SP1 does nothing. What can I do?   Hello, I want to grep the error's out of a log file and save the value as an error. When I use: errors = os.system("cat log.txt | grep 'ERROR' | wc -l") I get the return code that the command worked or not. When I use: errors = os.popen("cat log.txt | grep 'ERROR' | wc -l") I get what the command is trying to do. When I run this in the command line I get 3 as thats how many errors there are. Can anyone suggest another way? Thanks

  When trying to access the DNS service on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Build 3790) domain controller/schema master via the MMC DNS snap in or locally via the DNS MMC from Administrative tools I'm getting a red "X" through the icon for the DNS Server. The inability to access DNS management via MMC happens on all domain controllers as well. We've looked at items such as the DHCP client not being started, incorrect DNS setup ( the machine points at itself and another DC ), the DNS service not running ( it is and all DNS queries via NSLOOKUP work correctly ), dslint returns the correct information and functions as expected. There is the following entry in the DNS event log: The DNS server could not initialize the remote procedure call (RPC) service. If it is not running, start the RPC service or reboot the computer. The event data is the error code. • Core Data iPad/iPhone BLOBS vs File system for 20k PDFs

  I'm designing an iPad/iPhone app using core data. The main focus of the app is sorting and viewing up to 20,000 PDFs They are ~200KB each. Typically its best to not store BLOBS in a DB, but for desktop systems I've typically seen it said that if the blobs are < 1 MB then its fine to use the DB. Any considerations I should take into count? If I store them in the file system can I store them all in one directory and not have performance issues (I won't need to ever get a directory list since I'd store each's path in the DB)? Should I divide them among a handful of directories? If so is there a good rule on # of files per dir?

  Hi, In our project we are consuming WCF webservices exposed at Central location as services with basicHttpBinding. In client desktop application we need consume those webservices. I am able to generate proxy class using WSDL.exe. But, I need to convert data/class given by the webservice into my local class, for that now I am xmlserialzing those class/objects given by webservice and deserializing into my local classes as both classes schema matches exactly same.   I have a custom TrueType font (TTF) that consists of a bunch of icons, which I'd like to render as individual bitmaps (GIF, PNG, whatever) for use on the Web. You'd think this is a simple task, but apparently not? There is a huge slew of TTF-related software here: http://cg.scs.carleton.ca/~luc/ttsoftware.html But it's all varying levels of "not quite what I want", broken links and/or hard to impossible to compile on a modern Ubuntu box -- eg. dumpglyphs (C++) and ttfgif (C) both fail to compile due to obscure missing dependencies. Any ideas?

• What file format contents starts with "URES"?

  I have a number of files that contain data in a format I am not familiar with. All of the data files begin with the same byte sequence, presumably a file header, and the sequence is "URES". I'm assuming that these files are some kind of resource file, perhaps a collection of data or other files all embedded into one file; that's just a guess however. Does anyone know what format this is/might be? If so, how would I interrogate the file? Are there applications that let me open these kind of files? Do you know of any libraries or APIs that I can use to gain programmatic access the data?

• Creating DescriptionAttribute on Enumeration Field using System.Reflection.Emit

  I have a list of strings which are candidates for Enumerations values. They are Don't send diffs 500 lines 1000 lines 5000 lines Send entire diff The problem is that spaces, special characters are not a part of identifiers and even cannot start with a number, so I would be sanitizing these values to only chars, numbers and _ To keep the original values I thought of putting these strings in the DescriptionAttribute, such that the final Enum should look like public enum DiffBehvaiour { [Description("Don't send diffs")] Dont_send_diffs, [Description("500 lines")] Diff_500_lines, [Description("1000 lines")] Diff_1000_lines, [Description("5000 lines")] Diff_5000_lines, [Description("Send entire diff")] Send_entire_diff } Then later using code I will retrieve the real string associated with the enumeration value, so that the correct string can be sent back the web service to get the correct resource. I want to know how to create the DescriptionAttribute using System.Reflection.Emit Basically the question is where and how to store the original string so that when the Enumeration value is chosen, the corresponding value can be retrieved. I am also interested in knowing how to access DescriptionAttribute when needed.

  Hi everyone! I know I know, why am I using MP4 still?? It's because I have like 100 files already in this format and I need to upload to a website, I have the mp4 file embeded in the site already and the file played changes according to php. but what I really need is a way to dynamically create a thumbnail or take a snapshot of the video file to display on the page. I've read a couple things online but they all require the file type to be in FLV, what would be the best way to accomplish this? Thank you Guys!

  Hello Experts, We are building a jobsite application in which we will store resumes of all the candidates, which is planned to store on file system. Now We need to search inside that file and provide the result to the user, we need to provide that what is the best solution to implement text searching. I have just tried to identify it and got some reference like IFilter (API or interface) and Lucene.Net (open source), but not sure that is it a right solution. In initial phase it is expected to be around 50,000 resumes and it should be scalable enough if number increases. I just want some case study or some analysis or your suggestions that which is the best method to handle this requirement (Technology ASP .Net) Thanks

  i'm trying to get the list of mime types known to an IIS server (which you can see was asked and and answered by me 2 years ago). Which sounds to me like it is some sort of "path" to a "metabase". He says that the path to the metabase could be something else; and he gives an example of what it could be like. Right now i, and the entire planet, are hardcoding the "MetabasePath" as iis://localhost/MimeMap What should it really be? What should the code be doing to construct a valid MetabasePath? Note: i'm not getting an access denied error, the error is the same when you have an invalid MetabasePath, e.g. iis://localhost/SoTiredOfThis

  Hi, I have a asp.net application in order to start/stop applications and ports of Biztalk server 2006 r2. I have used "Microsoft.Biztalk.explorerom.dll (C:/Program Files/Biztalk Server 2006/Developer tool) " to achieve this. This is working fine on development machine since biz talk server is installed on local machine. But in the production environment (asp.net web server ,windows 2003 and iis 6.0)...this give System.nullreferenceexception (object reference not set..) at BtsCatalogExplorer explorer = (BtsCatalogExplorer)myGroup.CreateInstance(typeof(BtsCatalogExplorer)) my biztalk server and sql server are on two different box. In my setup (asp.net web application)..adding Microsoft.Biztalk.explorerom.dll and Microsoft.Biztalk.Applicationdeployment.engine.dll to GAC. But still no luck. Do i need to install biz talk server on my local machine even though I am connecting to different biz talk server?? And help is appreciated...
