• java checked exception in a catch clause compilation error

  Hi, I was expecting an compilation error in the following program because of the throw statement in the catch block as IOException is a checked exception and it is not caught by another try block within the catch block. But I am getting "Hurray!" printed. Any explanation would be much appreciated.   Prelude: I don't want to use rvm. I installed ruby 2 with the following configuration on Mac OS X 10.8.5 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local \ --enable-pthread \ --with-readline-dir=/usr/local \ --enable-shared It is installed, version is printed correctly ... Now, when invoking gem install jekyll I get the following error: ERROR: Loading command: install (LoadError) cannot load such file -- openssl ERROR: While executing gem ... (NoMethodError) undefined method `invoke_with_build_args' for nil:NilClass I installed openssl into /usr/local but i'm really banging my head against the wall on how installing gems. It can't be that big of a deal right?

  assuming I running Scala 2.8.0 RC1, the following scala code should print out the content of the file "c:/hello.txt" for ( line<-Source.fromPath( "c:/hello.txt" ).getLines ) println( line ) However, when I run it, I get the following error <console>:10: error: missing arguments for method getLines in class Source; follow this method with `_' if you want to treat it as a partially applied function Error occured in an application involving default arguments. val it = Source.fromPath("c:/hello.scala").getLines From what I understand, Scala should use the default argument "compat.Platform.EOL" for "getLines". I am wondering if I did wrong or is it a bug in scala 2.8 Thanks

• ASP.net SessionState Error in Design Mode

  I'm getting a weird error in the design view for a user creation page for 2 controls: Error Creating Control - wCreateUser Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. (There's some more) I've done both of these, but I'm still getting the error in design mode. The controls work fine when compiled, and on the live site - this is just in the Visual Web Developer 2010 Design view for the page. Any ideas as to how I can resolve this? Thanks!

• Need help identiying a nasty rootkit in Windows

  I have a nasty rootkit that not tools seem to be able to idenity. I know for sure it's a rootkit, but I can figure out which rootkit it is. Here's what I gathered so far: It creates multiple copies of itself in %HOME%\Local Settings\Temp with names like Q.EXE, IAJARZ.exe, etc., and install them as hidden services. These EXE have SysInternals identifiers in them so they're definitely rootkits. It hooked very deep in the system, including file read/write, security policies, registry read/write, and possibly WinSock/TCP/IP. When going to Sophos.com to download their software, the rootkit inject something called Microsoft Ajax Tootkit into the page, which injects code into the email submission form in order to redirect it. (EDIT: I might have panicked. Looks like Sophos does use an AJAZ email form, their form is just broken on Chrome so it looked like a mail form injection attack, the link is http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/virus-removal-tool/download.aspx ) Super-Antispyware found a lot of spyware cookies, in the name of .kaspersky.2o7.net, etc. (just chedk 2o7.net, looks like it's a legit ad company) I tried comparing DNS lookup from the infected systems and from system in other physical locations, no DNS redirections it seems. I used dd to copy the MBR and compared it with the MBR provided by ms-sys package, no differences so it's not infecting MBR. No antivirus or rootkit scanner be able to identify it. Most of them can't even find it. I tried scanning, in-situ (normal mode), in safe mode, and boot to linux live CD. Scanners used: Avast, Sophos anti rootkit, Kasersky TDSSKiller, GMER, RootkitRevealer, and many others. Kaspersky reported some unsigned system files that ought to be signed (e.g. tcpip.sys), and reported a number of MD5 mismatches. But otherwise couldn't identify anything based on signature. When running Sysinternal RootkitRevealer and Sophos AntiRootkit, CPU usage goes up to 100% and gets stucked. The Rootkit is blocking them. When trying running/installing HiJackThis, RootkitRevealer and some other scanners, it tells me system security policy prevent running/installing it. The list of malicious acitivities go on and on. here's a sample of logs from all my scans. In particular, aswSnx.SYS, apnenfno.sys and PROCMON20.SYS has a huge number of hooks. It's hard to tell if the rootkit replaced legit program files like aswSnx.SYS (from Avast) and PROCMON20.SYS (from Sysinternal Process Monitor). I can't find whether apnenfno.sys is from a legit program. Help to identify it is appreciated. • ASP.net error message when using REST starter kit

  Hi all, I've written some code using the REST starter kit and it works fine on my development machine. However, when I upload it to our server the page gives me the following error message... CS1684: Warning as Error: Reference to type 'System.Runtime.Serialization.Json.DataContractJsonSerializer' claims it is defined in 'c:\WINNT\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.ServiceModel.Web\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.ServiceModel.Web.dll', but it could not be found I've removed code line by line and it appears that the following line of code is triggering the error... HttpContent newOrganizationContent = HttpContentExtensions.CreateXmlSerializable(newOrganizationXml); Really haven't got a clue how to fix it. I assumed it might be because it needs a newer version of the framework to run, but looking in IIS it says it's running version 2.0.50727 which I think is the lates version because it says that even when we're using framework 3.5 Very confused, any ideas? I have included this dll in source files folder and the header file related to it in headers folder. When i am running the application I am getting following liking error. • Jetty 6: Unknown Error 99

  The system I'm developing is comprised of a jetty server (v6.1.2rc4) and a php frontend that sends http requests to jetty via curl_exec. The server and the client are on the same machine. The requests I send can be both POSTs and GETs, I get the same error for either which is: Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1: Unknown error 99 This is rather cryptic. It seems that after the first problematic request, some of the following (unrelated) requests also get corrupted. It looks like jetty is simply refusing the connection, but I can't read more than that into the error message. I thought it was a problem with the server's configuration, so I tried changing jetty's maxIdleTimeMs, but without success. Any idea about what to do is welcome thanks, Silvio

Is it possible that I am trying to access the data to rapidly? I have this function call in a loop, so something like for i in hugelist: #try to get a value from the berkdb #do something with it I am running this with multiple datasets and this error only occurs with one of them, the largest one, not the others.

From the code samples I've seen, people generally get back a more verbose error reports. How do I enable this? Thanks!

  Trying to open Eclipse after a couple of months and get this error: So I checked that folder to see if it existed, and it did: I checked my PATH Was correct and it was also correct: When this error first occurred I had 3 Java installations. JRE 7 Update 10, JDK 7 Update 7 32bit and 64 bit. I uninstall ALL and restarted my machine. Eclipse then stated, as expected that I needed a JRE or a JDK. So I downloaded and installed the latest JDK and now I get this error, despite everything appearing to be correct. Any ideas?

  I am trying to make some code thread safe for use with pthreads. This code is written in C++, but is linked to using SWIG. g++ compiles this correctly, but when swig tries to create a wrapper, I get: fast_alloc.hh:109: Error: Syntax error in input(3) The original, unsafe code that compiles correctly is: static void *freeLists[Num_Buckets]; and the error occurs when I change it to: static __thread void *freeLists[Num_Buckets]; I have made other parts thread safe adding "__thread", for example, this works: static __thread unsigned newCount[Num_Buckets];

  Hello Everyone, I have a question but not sure it is possible or not. I am using apache logger for my logging which creates a log file which works fine with no issues.my question is when i open the log file i get the different messages like messages with INFO,DEBGU,ERROR etc. But i wanted to see the error message in red color in text in my logger file.. is it possible? So in that way if some one opens my log file if some thing is there in red they can clearly can guess that it is an error message.. Is it possible.. Error Provider should associate with control passed dynamically and can be set or cleared at run time. • "Out of Memory" error in Lotus Notes automation from VBA

  This VBA function sporadically fails with a Notes automation error "Run-Time Error '7' Out of Memory". Naturally, when I try to manually reproduce it, everything runs fine. Function ToGMT(ByVal X As Date) As Date Static NtSession As NotesSession If NtSession Is Nothing Then Set NtSession = New NotesSession NtSession.Initialize End If (do stuff) End function To put this in context, this VBA function is being called by an Access query, 3-4 times per record, with 20,000 records. For performance reasons, the NotesSession has been made static. Any ideas why it is sporadically giving an out-of-memory error? (Also, I'm initiating the NotesSession just so I can convert a datetime to GMT using Lotus's rules. If you know a better way, I'm listening).

• Compiler error when casting to function pointer

  I'm writing a bootloader for the PIC32MX, using HiTech's PICC32 compiler (similar to C90). At some point I need to jump to the real main routine, so somewhere in the bootloader I have void (*user_main) (void); user_main = (void (*) (void)) 0x9D003000; user_main(); (Note that in the actual code, the function signature is typedef'd and the address is a macro.) I would rather calculate that (virtual) address from the physical address, and have something like: void (*user_main) (void); user_main = (void (*) (void)) (0x1D003000 | 0x80000000); user_main(); ...but when I try that I get a compiler error: Error #474: ; 0: no psect specified for function variable/argument allocation Have I tripped over some vagarity of C syntax here? This error doesn't reference any particular line, but if I comment out the user_main() call, it goes away. (This might be the compiler removing a redundant code branch, but the HiTech PICC32 isn't particularly smart in Lite mode, so maybe not.)

It seems the value can't be special characters,such as "?","+","*". To change the characters to Latin-1 characters, like "& #42;"(add a blank before '#') , get the same error. • Django "Error: cannot import name escape" on windows

  I cannot run the dev server because of this error ("Error: cannot import name escape"). I assume its because of modifications I've done to the project, but i have no idea how to find where the error is originating from to fix it. I don't import anything called escape anywhere. Update Using django-admin.py rather than the projects manage.py, don't know why... Update 2 Now manage.py is working. This may be because I had a file called email.py which was trying to import email.mime.text (ie trying to import itself) renaming to sendemail.py solved this problem.

• How to add another OS entry in Wubi grub

  I am trying to install another linux distro besides ubuntu. However, I want to retain my existing windows based loader. Currently, as per my knowledge, MsDos loads grub which then loads Ubuntu (with loop back trick). Now, I have a new linux distro installed on /dev/sda8 (/boot for new distro) where as /root for that OS is installed on /dev/sda9. I tried following steps 1. Add entry into 40_custom of ubuntu grub 2. update grub But upon booting via that entry, it is not able to load the new OS and shows me blank screen. What could be the problem?
