• Moving from a traditional in memory Java session to persistent storage sessions

  We have decided to take the plunge and move from using a typical java session provider in Tomcat/Jetty/etc to persisting everything to a central datastore. We are looking at using MongoDB for this. A few options come to mind... http://wiki.eclipse.org/Jetty/Tutorial/MongoDB_Session_Clustering This is nice because it will "auto-magically" persist our session to a Mongo installation. I am concerned however that we will not have fine grained control of what is happening. https://github.com/mattinsler/com.lowereast.guiceymongo/ GuiceMongo is interesting as it integrates with Guice. Perhaps we could persist everything via this ORM. Has anybody had to deal with this kind of move? It seems that moving from in memory to persistent session storage has a lot of gotchas.

• Change gui port(8080) utorrent

  I'm fresh on Ubuntu, still learning how to use it. Recently I've been trying to install utorrent, which I already was able to do so, but I need the port 8080 free to use run tomcat/glassfish and on port 80 php. Briefly, how can I change utorrent port from 8080 to another one? I've been trying to find a solution for this issue for about 3 days now, I saw some solutions, such as create a utserver.config, but I have no clue in how to use it or config it by terminal or on properties, that is something hardly explained by anyone. Any help will be appreciated :D.

• Solr DataImportHandler configuration

  I want to get data from mysql database with the help of DataImportHandler so i can create indexes. Now I've configured my Solr instance so that it works on Tomcat (the example admin page), but if I try to change the sorlconfig.xml file i'll get the error message. I'm working with Solr 3.6 So my configuration is: In solrconfig.xml i added: <dataDir>${solr.data.dir:/usr/share/tomcat7/solr2}</dataDir> to specify my working directory and then <requestHandler name="/dataimport" class="org.apache.solr.handler.dataimport.DataImportHandler"> <lst name="defaults"> <str name="config">/usr/share/tomcat7/solr2/conf/data-config.xml</str> </lst> </requestHandler> to specify new request handler. Theese two are my lib directives for DIH. • jQuery autocomplete - update options on dynamically created elements

  Background The user enters values into multiple inputs on the page. Think of entering a list of widgets for sale. The user would select the type of a widget from a drop down. Then enter the name of the Widget vendor, and then the actual name of the widget. These UI elements would all appear as one row. The user is able to click an "add another widget" link and a new row is created. The two input elements have autocomplete functionality attached to them using the DevBridge jQuery plugin. It suggests the name of the vendor and the name of the widget. I have recently wired up the logic to filter the name of the widget based on the name of the vendor you entered. This means setting the (custom) vendorName parameter when attaching the autocomplete plugin so it can be passed to the server side to retrieve the widget names for that vendor that match the name the user entered. To achieve this functionality I'm dynamically attaching the autocomplete functionality to the second element (the widget name text box) when it receives focus. Here is an example: $('.autocomplete-widget').live('focus', function () { $(this).autocomplete({ serviceUrl: '/something.ashx', params: { type: 'widget', vendorName: $(this).parent().prev().find('.autocomplete-vendor').val()} }); }); Problem At first glance, this looks to function quite well. However I started noticing some inconsistencies, and upon inspection, I found out that the call to the server is actually happening several times in some cases. Each time the widget name input element receives focus the autocomplete functionality is attached. And what I'm seeing is that the call to the server is made in proportion to how many times the input element has gained focus. I'd like to avoid making the call more than once, but retain the ability to attach (or update) the autocomplete functionality "on focus". I've tried to use the autocomplete 'setOptions' method but have only been able to get it to work with the static elements, not the dynamically created elements. Question Is there a way I can clear out the autocomplete functionality before I attach another one?

• "Pretty" Continuous Integration for Python

  This is a slightly.. vain question, but BuildBot's output isn't particularly nice to look at.. For example, compared to.. phpUnderControl Hudson CruiseControl.rb ..and others, BuildBot looks rather.. archaic I'm currently playing with Hudson, but it is very Java-centric (although with this guide, I found it easier to setup than BuildBot, and produced more info) Basically: is there any Continuous Integration systems aimed at python, that produce lots of shiney graphs and the likes? Update: After trying a few alternatives, I think I'll stick with Hudson. Integrity was nice and simple, but quite limited. I think Buildbot is better suited to having numerous build-slaves, rather than everything running on a single machine like I was using it. Setting Hudson up for a Python project was pretty simple: Download Hudson from https://hudson.dev.java.net/ Run it with java -jar hudson.war Open the web interface on the default address of http://localhost:8080 Go to Manage Hudson, Plugins, click "Update" or similar Install the Git plugin (I had to set the git path in the Hudson global preferences) Create a new project, enter the repository, SCM polling intervals and so on Install nosetests via easy_install if it's not already In the a build step, add nosetests --with-xunit --verbose Check "Publish JUnit test result report" and set "Test report XMLs" to **/nosetests.xml That's all that's required. You can setup email notifications, and the plugins are worth a look. A few I'm currently using for Python projects: SLOCCount plugin to count lines of code (and graph it!) - you need to install sloccount separately Violations to parse the PyLint output (you can setup warning thresholds, graph the number of violations over each build) Cobertura can parse the coverage.py output. Nosetest can gather coverage while running your tests, using nosetests --with-coverage (this writes the output to **/coverage.xml)

  Hi I am using a wordpress plugin called "kf most read" which stores a count of how many times a post was read, and lets you output a list of most read posts. This works well. The issue is, I am trying to pull the most read posts, but only the most read posts within the current category you are viewing. I am close to clueless when it comes to sql. Here us what the plugin is currently using to pull the most read posts: $sql = "SELECT count(mr.post_ID) as totHits, p.ID, p.post_title from $wpdb-posts p JOIN {$wpdb-prefix}kf_most_read mr on mr.post_ID = p.ID where mr.hit_ts = '".(time() - ( 86400 * $period))."' • CKEditor createFakeParserElement: writeHtml is not a function

  I am trying to write a plugin for CKEditor that is basically just a iframe with PHP content. The user browses around, selects the video they want and then they click insert. The problem is that I need to create a "fake element" for this video, as inserting a video directly seems to show up as a Flash object, and we need to make it look a little different. So I decided to use jQuery Address plugin ( http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/docs/ ) in order to allow deeplinking and Back-Forward navigation: <script type="text/javascript" src="uploads/scripts/jquery.address-1.2rc.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $('a').address(function() { return $(this).attr('href').replace(/^#/, ''); }); </script> Now, after installing the plugin, if I go on http://mywebsite.com/index.html (HOME) and click on SOME PAGE link, jquery successfully loads the http://mywebsite.com/categorie/somepage.html without reloading the page and the address bar on my browser displays: http://mywebsite.com/index.html/#/categorie/somepage.html which is great! However, the problem is: if I copy this dynamically generated URL: http://mywebsite.com/index.html/#/categorie/somepage.html into a web browser address bar, it will take into my website index.html page and not to the "SOME PAGE" page. Also, The Forward/Back buttons don't work correctly, they only replace the address in the URL bar but the content stays the same. I suppose that I need to write some JavaScript rule that associates the dynamic URL with the correct page? Some help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

The problem is each thread has its own stack area, since default stack size depends on user's choice, this may results in huge memory consumption in some cases. • Rails: keeping DRY with ActiveRecord models that share similar complex attributes

  This seems like it should have a straightforward answer, but after much time on Google and SO I can't find it. It might be a case of missing the right keywords. In my RoR application I have several models that share a specific kind of string attribute that has special validation and other functionality. The closest similar example I can think of is a string that represents a URL. This leads to a lot of duplication in the models (and even more duplication in the unit tests), but I'm not sure how to make it more DRY. I can think of several possible directions... create a plugin along the lines of the "validates_url_format_of" plugin, but that would only make the validations DRY give this special string its own model, but this seems like a very heavy solution create a ruby class for this special string, but how do I get ActiveRecord to associate this class with the model attribute that is a string in the db Number 3 seems the most reasonable, but I can't figure out how to extend ActiveRecord to handle anything other than the base data types. Any pointers? Finally, if there is a way to do this, where in the folder hierarchy would you put the new class that is not a model? Many thanks.

  Hello, I am using the http://github.com/collectiveidea/awesome_nested_set awesome nested set plugin and currently, if I choose a sub category as my category_id for an item, I can not search by its parent. Category.parent Category.Child I choose Category.child as the category that my item is in. So now my item has category_id of 4 stored in it. If I go to a page in my rails application, lets say teh Category page and I am on the Category.parent's page, I want to show products that have category_id's of all the descendants as well. So ideally i want to have a find method that can take into account the descendants. You can get the descendants of a root by calling root.descendants (a built in plugin method). How would I go about making it so I can query a find that gets the descendants of a root instead of what its doing now which is binging up nothing unless the product had a specific category_id of the Category.parent. I hope I am being clear here. I either need to figure out a way to create a find method or named_scope that can query and return an array of objects that have id's corresponding tot he descendants of a root OR if I have any other options, what are they? I thought about creating a field in my products table like parent_id which can keep track of the parent so i can then create two named scopes one finding the parent stuff and one finding the child stuff and chaining them. I know I can create a named scope for each child and chain them together for multiple children but this seems a very tedious process and also, if you add more children, you would need to specify more named scopes.

  There is a known bug in JAXB: https://jaxb.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=733 JAXB does not properly generate boolean field getters and setters, this bug is left unfixed for backwards compatibility. A JAXB plugin exists and will ensure that the following getters and setters for boolean fields are generated: setXXX(Boolean value) is generated getXXX() is generated If the boolean attribute specifies default value in the XSD, then getXXX() returns boolean, If the boolean attribute does not specify default in the XSD, then getXXX() returns Boolean. Problem: trying to edit/view the XXX field in a JSF component (such as checkbox) does not work - the component is disabled. I have not traced this in depth but the assumption (backed by the workaround below) is that JSF EL resolver (or whathaveyou) looks for Boolean getXXX() method and since it does not find it, the component is disabled. Workaround: If I change the getXXX() method to always return Boolean, then everything goes. Questions: What are your ideas to address this problem? Have I missed some customization for the boolean-getter JAXB plugin? Is it possible (does it make sense) to alter JSF resolver (or whathaveyou) so that if Boolean getXXX() is not found, it will fall back to boolean getXXX()? I would prefer not to manually intervene and change all the generated getXXX() methods to return Boolean instead of boolean.

• Format Java Code in Netbeans / Eclipse, but save it differently

  Hi all, I asked a related question before, but I guess the root of the question is. Let's say I have 2 developers on the team and they both like to look at code in different formats. One likes the braces to be on a new line and the other doesn't. The approach I was using before is that anytime we run a build, the code is automatically formatted according to the Java/Sun standards using Jalopy; however, I would like the developers to be as happy as possible. They can change the font size, font color, background color, etc. If I am currently using the Jalopy Maven plugin to format code, can/should I write a hook to SVN that calls mvn jalopy:format on the project when it's checked in? Is this reliable? That solution doesn't work 100% because it requires the developer to manually format the source code to their liking every time they open a file that hasn't been formatted yet. I was thinking an IDE plugin would be nice as it could automatically format the source to their liking and then save it as another. What other options do I have to ensure the code is formatted nicely on checkin? Thanks, Walter

  We are using the facebook like plugin with the share button. The URL points to a resource of our app. For example http://apps.facebook.com/appname/resources/id The first time this resource/url is shared or liked, everything works fine. The share for example holds the URL given above. But if the same resource/url is shared again, an error occurs. Facebook did create a fanpage for that resource like http://www.facebook.com/pages/appname So from now on, share/likes refer to that page instead of the resource/url of our app. The URL we use for the like plugin is correct and always points to the app resource URL. The fbappid in there is correct, too. Furthermore the page of the resource holds open graph meta tags like og:url, also pointing to the correct URL. The facebook linter/debugger returns URLs to the correct app resource URLs, when checking the liked/shared resource. Why is a fanpage created instead and the URL exchanged in shares/likes? How to fix it? We want the share to include the URL of the app resource and to increase the like count for that open graph object.

• How do I develop browser plugins with cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility in mind?

  My company currently has a product which relies on a custom, in-house ActiveX control. The technology it employs (TWAIN) is itself cross-platform by design, but our solution is obviously limited to Internet Explorer on Windows. Long term we would like to become cross-browser and cross-platform (i.e., support other browsers on Windows, support the Macintosh or Linux). Obviously if we wanted to support Firefox on Windows I would need to write a plugin for it. But if we wanted to support the Macintosh, how do I attack that? Is it possible to compile a version of the Firefox plugin that runs on the Mac? Would I be remiss to not also support Safari on the Mac? Are there any plugins which are cross-browser on a platform? (i.e., can any browsers run plugins for other browsers) Since TWAIN is so low-level to the operating system, I do not think Java would be a solution in any capacity, but I could be wrong. What do people generally do when they want to support multiple platforms with a process that will need to be cross-platform and cross-browser compatible?

Is it possible to select the input via the label inner HTML with jQuery? • Usage of putty in command line from Hudson

  Hi, I'm trying to use putty in command line from an hudson job. The command is the following one: putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USERNAME@SERVER_ADDR -pw PASS -m command.txt Where 'command.txt' is a shell script to execute in the server through SSH. If i launch this command from the Window command prompt, it works, the shell script is executed on the server machine. If i launch a build of the hudson job configured with this batch command, it doesn't work. The build is running... and running... and running.. without doing anything, and i have to stop it manually. So my question is: Is it possible to launch an external programm (i.e. putty) from an hudson job ? ps: i tried SSH plugin but... not a really good plugin (pre/post build, fail status of the commands launched not caught by hudson, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help.   I'm using the tokenizing autocomplete plugin for jquery ( http://loopj.com/2009/04/25/jquery-plugin-tokenizing-autocomplete-text-entry ). I mostly use Ruby, and I'm really unfamiliar with javascript, though. My basic setup looks like this, and works fine for a new, blank form: $(document).ready(function () { $("#tag_ids_field").tokenInput("/tags", { queryParam: "search" }); }); The problem comes when I try to prepopulate it, like for an edit page. I'm trying to do something like this (where the "#tag_ids_field" text box contains the JSON when the page is loaded - that way is just cleaner on the application side of things). $(document).ready(function () { var tags = $("#tag_ids_field").html(); $("#tag_ids_field").tokenInput("/tags", { queryParam: "search", prePopulate: tags }); }); However, when the page loads I see that it's just filled with hundreds of entries that read 'undefined'. Two, I'm planning on having many autocomplete fields like this on the same page (for when several records are edited at once - they all query the same place). How can I make each autocomplete field take it's prepopulated values from it's own textbox? • Problem with sfRemember cookie / sfGuard Remember me

  I'm using Symfony 1.4 with Doctrine. Sorry if this is a silly question but what exactly does one need to build on top of the sfDoctrineGuardPlugin to get the "remember me" functionality working? When I login a user, the sfRemember cookie is created with the default 15-day lifetime, and the remember key is saved in the plugin's sf_guard_remember_key table. Without any tweaks to the plugin, the sfGuardSecurityUser SignIn() method creates the cookie, but the Signout() method erases it, leaving no cookie unless you're logged in! Signin(): sfContext::getInstance()->getResponse()->setCookie($remember_cookie, $key, time() + $expiration_age); Signout(): sfContext::getInstance()->getResponse()->setCookie($remember_cookie, '', time() - $expiration_age); I can see that the database table saves the cookie as a relation of sf_guard_user, but that's not much good if the cookie is gone.... I'd be grateful if someone could tell me what I'm missing here, and ideally, if I prevent the Signout() method from removing the cookie, do I need to write code to read the cookie myself or is this automated somewhere/somehow? I've got box-standard Symfony 1.4 and sfDoctrineGuardPlugin installations. It all just seems totally wrong and the documentation on this is non-existent. Any help would appreciated.

• Is there anything like Unity for simple things that don't require an interface?

  Perhaps I'm misapplying Unity, but here goes. I have a couple of applications, both of which load the same plugin assemblies. All assemblies require a library, and I want them to be able to access this library via Unity. However, in order to use Unity, or any other IoC framework, I'd have to write an interface for this library. I will probably do this, but since an interface isn't really needed for anything other than to support Unity, I am afraid that this means that I am 1) missing the point, or 2) misapplying the framework. If I avoid something that offers me DI, then I'd have to make the library class a singleton, and then pass it to all of the plugin constructors, or via a public property, and I don't want to do this. That said, and without actually implementing anything with Unity yet, I'm not getting one other detail -- although Unity will let me request the library via Resolve<, my plugins will still need to have a reference to the Unity instance that is created in the main applications. So is this a case where your only option is to pass the Unity reference to all of the plugins, but then it's convenient from that point on, merely because you can use Unity to get at all of the other dependencies?

  Hello all, Does anyone know how to fix the problem about Tinymce Line break problem on Safari and Chrome. For example, Let's say, I have two line pure text. When I copy and paste through firefox or IE. It's under one p tag. So it's same formatting i saw in the text file which is two line. But if i copy and paste through Chrome or Firefox, it becomes two p tag. So at display there,s one space between that two line. I tried to add safari plugin, but nothing happens. And if i put the plugin called paste_auto_cleanup_on_paste : true, it's removing the space, but two line text became one line. Cany anyone help me out by providing solution ? I noticed that at wordpress which is using Tinymce Editor also, doesn't occur that problem, because seems like they are using span instead of p at editor. If that's the solution, how can i change to span instead of p. Thanks for your help and greatly appreciated.
