  • Error while generating a PDF file with Excel in ASP.NET

    I have to generate an excel file and a PDF file from an asp.net application. I'm using the Interop assemblies and I can generate the excel file without any problem. But when I'm generating an pdf file with the add-in SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe I'm getting the next error: Exception HRESULT: 0x800A03EC with a debug I see the error is in the next method which is used to export de PDF file: _objWB.ExportAsFixedFormat(Excel.XlFixedFormatType.xlTypePDF, _nombreArchivo, Excel.XlFixedFormatQuality.xlQualityStandard, false, false, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, false, Type.Missing);

    I'm considering building a Church Management System (ChMS), essentially a CRM, but specifically tailored for churches. I've looked at several existing CRM and open source ChMS solutions but have not been satisfied with any of them. Before I start writing something from the ground up - I was wondering if anyone was aware of an open source asp.net application that might be a good fit for this project? Particularly, the application needs to perform CRUD and optimally allow for dynamic user-based creation/editing of fields associated with contacts etc.

  • ASP.NET application developed in 32 bit environment not working in 64 bit environment

    We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application. If we try to start the application on this new server using Visual Studios 2008's own web server (not IIS 7) we get the error below. We have tried to compile the application in both 32 as well as 64 bit mode. We also tried to compile to "Any CPU". But nothing helps.     I have a repeater that is supposed to create div tags with their onclick functions from databind. Which is like onclick='<%# "functionname('" + Eval("somestring") +"');" %>' but the single quotes ' after the js func ( and before ) , they become something like ?,= ..     I'd like the user to specify a RSS feed address and serialize the information from it. I am not interested in the XML format, but populate a strongly typed object from the XML. My question is, is there a standard that all RSS feeds support (Do all of them have date, title etc)? If so, is there a XSD that describes this. If not, how do I handle serializing a RSS feed to an object in ASP.NET?

    I am processing some CSV file which i have copied in Bin folder of My ASP.NET Website. When i execute using (IDataReader csv = new CsvReader (new StreamReader("sample.txt"), true, '|')) { ..... } it complains me that "sample.txt" not found in "c:\Program Files\.....\" Won't the runtime automatically look into the bin folder? what modification do i need to do?

    I couldn't find any documentation around using multiple forms in an ASP.NET MVC 2 ViewModel approach. i.e. In the built in application when you select New MVC2 web app, the register page uses a ViewPage which inherits like this:- Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" I wanted to use that approach on a page with multiple forms, but that RegisterModel only supported one form.

    I have a domain "test.com" and I want this domain to redirect to "mydomain.com/test". I'm with 1and1 for my domain test.com and with discountAsp for mydomain.com. In the control panel of 1and1 you can set a redirection from a domain to another domain, so everything is fine. But when i'm on the page mydomain.com/test I want my url to be rewritten as test.com Is this possible to do that with IIS or in my asp.page (would prefer in my page) I'm using iis7 Thanks

It definitively shouldn't be used to "keep certain session-wide data" as I asked initially (see ASP.NET MVC TempData Is Really RedirectData why). I've modified the question accordingly. Has anyone used CookieTempDataProvider for TempData storage? Are there any caveats to watch out for (apart from keeping the session storage small)? Any issues with using it on Web farms?
