    In SQL Server, I have two tables TableA and TableB, based on these I need to generate a report which is kind of very complex and after doing some research I come to a conclusion that I have to go with SQL Pivot table but I dont have any idea about the SQL Pivot feature so, can anyone please help me on this.     Hey all, Working in a team environment, each one of us has put together our own list of SQL statements that we use to help with our day to day job functions. As the case often is, there may be some redundancy with this, and we are often in need of each other's statements. To circumvent this, I'm looking to put together a small app that can be used to store and search for these SQL statements. To begin with, I'm keeping it basic, just storing and searching the statements. This may build out to be the actual execution at some point in the future, but I'm not concerning myself with this at the time. This will be built with PHP and MySQL - Should I store the SQL as text, or is there something that I need to be concerned with?

  • How can I uninstall a clustered SQL instance if the cluster has been destroyed?

    First time going through this scenario, and apparently I did it very wrong. On the DB servers I deleted the cluster group that held SQL and Reporting Services. I then destroyed the cluster. Then I tried to uninstall SQL. No dice. SQL still thinks its part of the non-existant cluster and will not let me uninstall it. I went into the Maintenance menu of the SQL setup and tried to Remove Node...nope. Unless I find a way out of this I will have to rebuild the OS if I can't get SQL off the box.

    Hi, we have a legacy application which uses a access.mdb with hundreds of ODBC-connected tables on a sql-server. the access.mdb contains nothing else than these odbc-connections. Now we consider to use a virtual sql-servername for these odbc connections and resolve it in the local hosts-file with the ip-address of the real sql-server. Like this we can easy switch between a test-sql-database server and the the server for production in changing one single entry in the hosts. EVERYTHING works fine and now comes the question: Could it be that this is more performant because there is one single point on resolving the sql-server (name or ip-address)? Is there something like a network-cache / DNS-Cache? peace Ice

  • File upload fails when user is authenticated. Using IIS7 Integrated mode.

    These are the user identities my website tells me that it uses: Logged on: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE (Can not write any files at all) and Not logged on: WSW32\IUSR_77 (Can write files to any folder) I have a ASP.NET 4.0 website on a shared hosting IIS7 web server running in Integrated mode with 32-bit applications support enabled and MSSQL 2008. Using classic mode is not an option since I need to secure some static files and I use Routing. In my web.config file I have set the following: <system.webServer> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true" /> </system.webServer> My hosting company says that Impersonation is enabled by default on machine level, so this is not something I can change. I asked their support and they referred me to this article: http://www.codinghub.net/2010/08/differences-between-integrated-mode-and.html Citing this part: Different windows identity in Forms authentication When Forms Authentication is used by an application and anonymous access is allowed, the Integrated mode identity differs from the Classic mode identity in the following ways: * ServerVariables["LOGON_USER"] is filled. * Request.LogognUserIdentity uses the credentials of the [NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE] account instead of the [NT AUTHORITY\INTERNET USER] account. This behavior occurs because authentication is performed in a single stage in Integrated mode. Conversely, in Classic mode, authentication occurs first with IIS 7.0 using anonymous access, and then with ASP.NET using Forms authentication. Thus, the result of the authentication is always a single user-- the Forms authentication user. AUTH_USER/LOGON_USER returns this same user because the Forms authentication user credentials are synchronized between IIS 7.0 and ASP.NET. A side effect is that LOGON_USER, HttpRequest.LogonUserIdentity, and impersonation no longer can access the Anonymous user credentials that IIS 7.0 would have authenticated by using Classic mode.     Organizing your data model makes the information easier to consume. One of the organizational tools provided by Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler is the ‘SubView.’ In a nutshell, a SubView is a subset of your model. The Challenge: I’ve just created a model which represents my entire ____________ application. We’ll call it ‘residential lending.’ Instead of having all 100+ tables in a single model diagram, I want to break out the tables by module, e.g. appraisals, credit reports, work histories, customers, etc. I’ve spent several hours breaking out the tables to one or more SubViews, but I think i may have missed a few. Is there an easy way to see what tables aren’t in at least ONE subview? The Answer Yes, mostly. The mostly comes about from the way I’m going to accomplish this task. It involves querying the SQL Developer Data Modeler Reporting Schema. So if you don’t have the Reporting Schema setup, you’ll need to do so. Got it? Good, let’s proceed. Before you start querying your Reporting Schema, you might need a data model for the actual reporting schema…meta-meta data! You could reverse engineer the data modeler reporting schema to a new data model, or you could just reference the PDFs in \datamodeler\reports\Reporting Schema diagrams directory. Here’s a hint, it’s THIS one The Query Well, it’s actually going to be at least 2 queries. We need to get a list of distinct designs stored in your repository. For giggles, I’m going to get a listing including each version of the model. So I can query based on design and version, or in this case, timestamp of when it was added to the repository. We’ll get that from the DMRS_DESIGNS table: SELECT DISTINCT design_name, design_ovid, date_published FROM DMRS_designs Then I’m going to feed the design_ovid, down to a subquery for my child report. select name, count(distinct diagram_id) from DMRS_DIAGRAM_ELEMENTS where design_ovid = :dESIGN_OVID and type = 'Table' group by name having count(distinct diagram_id) < 2 order by count(distinct diagram_id) desc Each diagram element has an entry in this table, so I need to filter on type=’Table.’ Each design has AT LEAST one diagram, the master diagram. So any relational table in this table, only having one listing means it’s not in any SubViews. If you have overloaded object names, which is VERY possible, you’ll want to do the report off of ‘OBJECT_ID’, but then you’ll need to correlate that to the NAME, as I doubt you’re so intimate with your designs that you recognize the GUIDs So I’m going to cheat and just stick with names, but I think you get the gist. My Model Of my almost 90 tables, how many of those have I not added to at least one SubView? Now let’s run my report! Voila! My ‘BEER2′ table isn’t in any SubView! It says ’1′ because the main model diagram counts as a view. So if the count came back as ’2′, that would mean the table was in the main model diagram and in 1 SubView diagram. And I know what you’re thinking, what kind of residential lending program would have a table called ‘BEER2?’ Let’s just say, that my business model has some kinks to work out!

  • Twitter "Authentication Error" Turpial & Choqok (latest versions)

    I use Turpial a lot, but Turpial isn't connecting at all. I can still connect to Twitter thru the OS app (no issues signing in through Online Accounts) and of course I can still sign in using the browser, but Turpial gives me an "Authentication Error" and Choqok fails to do anything. I've tried changing my password, revoking the Turpial and Ubuntu apps in Twitter and re-enabling them, but then it gives me an "Invalid Credentials" message. I've even removed and installed Turpial multiple times, still nothing. I can't find any information or resources for this type of error from Turpial online. I think it may be something recent after finding this message elsewhere: (article related to "Birdie") It looks promising i'm currently using it atm, since all the other twitter clients no longer work due to the API 1.0 shutdown (posted today) I've never used Choqok before today, so I don't even know if I've set it up properly. It's failing to retrieve or send Tweets it just blank screens, but at least it signs in. I've figured that this isn't an issue with Ubuntu, or Turpial or Choqok, or the router (already replaced it today), so I don't really know what I'm dealing with here. I hope it's not another API issue, Facebook did something similar just a few weeks ago

  • Protecting a webpage with an authentication form

    I have created an employee webpage with a lot of company info, links, etc., but I want to protect the page because it contains some confidential company information. I am running IIS7.5 on Windows Server 2008 R2, and I already have the site setup as a normal, non-protected site. I want all active directory users to have access to the site. This is not an intranet site, it is exposed to the internet. I tried setting it up using Windows Authentication, but I had problems with multiple login prompts, etc. I just want a simple form for users to enter their credentials and have access to the site, and I need it to query the AD for login. I've searched the web for a guide on this, but I can't seem to find one that fits my situation. This is not a Web App. It is just a simple html site. Does anyone have any suggestions or a link to a guide on this? Thanks so much! -LB

  • Data refresh and drill down problem with SSAS cube and excel services

    I have a SSAS cube which I am using in an excel document, prepare a report which has drill-down etc and i am publishing it to a sharepoint site. It gets published alright but when I try to drill down it throws an error "Data Refresh failed" etc.The data source and the sharpoint site are on the same machine(running windows server 2008) and we have windows authentication running. From what I have been able to find on the internet there is a problem with passing the windows authentication credentials to the database etc.But I have not been able to find the exact way to sort out these problem. What is the solution for this????

    I'm trying export records from SQL Server 2008 to mdb file using OpenDataSource. It works when I log in using Windows authentication. But it fails when I use SQL Server authentication. This is the error i get OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Could not delete from specified tables.". Msg 7320, Level 16, State 2, Procedure EXPORT_Employee, Line 110 Cannot execute the query "DELETE FROM employee_export " against OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)".   • Can't complete dropbox installation from behind proxy

    Problem: My PC on campus sits behind a proxy (requiring authentication) and I can't setup Dropbox. I am convinced that this is a proxy issue as I can't setup Ubuntu one either (but I don't use Ubuntu One so that is not a problem). I have looked at the Ubuntu One fix but it seems to be to modify settings explicitly related to Ubuntu One. I can install the nautilus-dropbox package (compiled from source and from .deb package from website and from software centre) but once I click OK from the "Dropbox Installation" dialog box (prompting me to download the proprietary daemon) the installation just freezes with the OK button pressed. When I look at its process in System Monitor its waiting channel is inet_wait_for_connect. I have set the following proxy directives thus far: Added mj22:**@proxy.waikato.ac.nz:80 information to network proxy settings under network in settings. Added http_host and http_port variables under gconf-editor-system-proxy Added 'host', 'authentication_password' 'authentication_user' and ticked 'user authentication' and 'use_http_proxy' under gconf-editor-system-http_proxy Added export http_proxy="http://mj22:**@proxy.waikato.ac.nz:80/" to /etc/bash.bashrc Added Acquire::http::proxy "http://mj22:**@proxy.waikato.ac.nz:80/"; to /etc/apt/apt.conf (which is what I imagine is letting Software Center retrieve packages). (where ** is my password) I have also added the equivalent ftp and https lines for the above entries. I get the internet fine and Software Centre can download packages but thats it. Related issues: The software centre can't fetch reviews (but can download packages). When trying to add an online account in Gnome 3 a dialog pop up appears with "Error getting a Request Token: Cannot connect to proxy (proxy.waikato.ac.nz)" Updates: After some time (10mins ish) Dropbox shows an error dialog box that reads: Trouble connecting to Dropbox servers. Maybe your internet connection is down, or you need to set you http_proxy environment variable. Is there a way I can see what environment variables are currently set?

  • Why google return soft 404 when I redirect on signup page?

    Since one month, I've got an increased "soft 404" reported by google webmaster tools but work well for users. I made some fix but can't figure out how to solve it. Configuration (maybe useless): I have a website built with rails 3.1 Authentication is handled by the gem Devise Problem: On this page http://en.bemyboat.com/yacht-charter/9965-sailboat-beneteau-oceanis-43 when you click on "Ask a Boat request" (a simple form, in GET to : http://en.bemyboat.com/boat_requests/new/9965) you are redirected with the http status 302 to sign in, and then sent back to the new page if successfully sign in. Google tells me that the link on "ask a boat request" returns a soft 404. I can't make this form in "POST" (which will solve the problem) because we need to automatically redirect user to the good page after sign in. (the Gem Devise memorize the "get" link) To simplify, the question is: how to protect a private page with authentication, reached with a simple "get" and not to be penalized by google with "soft 404". Thank you. PS : this website suffer a lot about english translation... please don't care.

  • Authenticate native mobile app using a REST API

    I'm starting a new project soon, which is targeting mobile application for all major mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Windows). It will be a client-server architecture. The app is both informational and transactional. For the transactional part, they're required to have an account and log in before a transaction can be made. I'm new to mobile development, so I don't know how the authentication part is done on these platforms. The clients will communicate with the server through a REST API. Will be using HTTPS ofcourse. I haven't yet decided if I want the user to log in when they open the app, or only when they perform a transaction. I got the following questions: 1) Like the Facebook application, you only enter your credentials when you open the application for the first time. After that, you're automatically signed in every time you open the app. How does one accomplish this? Just simply by encrypting and storing the credentials on the device and sending them every time the app starts? 2) Do I need to authenticate the user for each (transactional) request made to the REST API or use a token based approach? Please feel free to suggest other ways for authentication. Thanks!

    An external source will be sending us XML data that BizTalk will pick up and transform into an internal schema. We need this data to be loaded into a SQL Server database as we're going to expose some of the data to our web front-end via a custom WCF service. The question is: what is the recommended approach for doing something like this? Options we're considering are having BizTalk write to the database directly or having BizTalk call a custom WCF service which would handle the save operation. Another briefly considered idea was having BizTalk write to an MSMQ and have a custom service pull from there and store it in the database. What are some of the guidelines or questions that should be asked in assessing these options? There are concerns related to overhead from calling the extra service, duplication of efforts if the schema is modified in the future (which it will be to some extent), and simply the best way to design within a service-oriented architecture that we're struggling with.

    I really do not want to install Linux at the moment, I would have to borrow a USB key, move files, format it, flash it, format it again, move files back, give it back... What would you recommend that is lightweight, easily and cleanly uninstallable afterwards (will install Linux when I get a new DVD-ROM, which will be in ~2 weeks), that also supports PHP and SQL? To be precise, I want to install a Wordpress blog, a few plugins, etc, and develop a theme. If there is no such thing for Windows (7, x64 if that matters), let me know too, I will borrow the USB key then (even though it's a pain).

  • "Never do in code what you can get the SQL server to do well for you" - Is this a recipe for a bad design?

    It's an idea I've heard repeated in a handful of places. Some more or less acknowledging that once trying to solve a problem purely in SQL exceeds a certain level of complexity you should indeed be handling it in code. The logic behind the idea is that for the large majority of cases, the database engine will do a better job at finding the most efficient way of completing your task than you could in code. Especially when it comes to things like making the results conditional on operations performed on the data. Arguably with modern engines effectively JIT'ing + caching the compiled version of your query it'd make sense on the surface. The question is whether or not leveraging your database engine in this way is inherently bad design practice (and why). The lines become blurred further when all the logic exists inside the database and you're just hitting it via an ORM.

    Hi, My W2K3 server was running TFS 2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Development edition. I installed SQL Server 2008 Standard. I installed it while leaving SQL Server 2005 alone. Upgrading was not possible due to the differences in editions of the SQL Servers. Now TFS is broken. On a client computer, if I go Team - Connect to Team Foundation Server, I get this error: Team Foundation services are not available from server myserver.     I have a development server with 3 instances: Default, A and B. It is a physical server, non clustered. Whenever the syspolicy_purge_history job runs at 2 am, I get failed login alerts. Looking at the job steps, all are successfully completed. It appears that some point during the step "Erase Phantom System Health Records" is when the failed logins occur. syspolicy_purge_history on instance B works OK. syspolicy_purge_history on the Default instance seems to want to connect to instance B, resulting in: Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. Login failed for user 'Machinename\sqlsvc-B'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] . No errors are reported by Powershell. syspolicy_purge_history on the A instance seems to want to connect to the Default instance resulting in Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. Login failed for user 'Machinename\sqlsvc-Default'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] . An earlier log backup that includes LSN 55147000001788900001 can be restored. RESTORE LOG is terminating abnormally.(.Net SqlClient Data Provider) 2010-04-01 10:00:01.87 Searching for an older log backup file. Secondary Database: 'UK_Backup' 2010-04-01 10:00:01.90 Skipped log backup file. Secondary DB: 'UK_Backup', File: 'F:\UK_20100324090000.trn' 2010-04-01 10:00:01.93 Error: Could not find a log backup file that could be applied to secondary database 'UK_Backup'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) 2010-04-01 10:00:01.93 Deleting old log backup files. Secondary ID: 'c066bb63-930c-4b73-861c-f59f0a38c12c' It was happily humming along until I checked it this morning. Some additional details. In the Logshipping folder, there is one file UK_20100324090001.trn dated on the 2009-3-24. The next most recent .trn file is the UK_20100374090001.trn which is the file that was applied during the restore. Why is there an older trn file seemingly on it's own? How can I fix this problem? It'll be a real pain to restart the entire logshipping process. x_x

But what i want to achieve here is count of arg consumers Total of ARG_TOTALAMT total of that subquery PAID difference between PAID & Total amount.
