  • Simple ViewController / View, remove white bar?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I am just looking at setting up a simple viewController programatically, I have a ViewController.xib file that I have set the background color to RED in interface builder. I have also added the following to my AppDelegate.m @implementation syntax_MapViewAppDelegate @synthesize window; -(BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { viewController = [[MapViewController alloc] init]; [window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } -(void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end When I run the code it does what I expect apart from the white bar at the bottom of the screen, can anyone give me any pointers in how to remove this? I have a feeling I might need to position the view within the window, but I am not sure how? cheers Gary

If I want to place a 30x30px no-repeat background image at the top left corner position of 120px from the left and 50px from the top ... while also allowing the text inside that div to be displayed on top of the background image ... how would I do that? I tried the following, but it doesnt appear to work. background:url(http://example.com/background-image.png) no-repeat 120px 50px; Any ideas how to perform what I want to accomplish?

    Hello, Hello, I am quite new to iphone development. I have a situation here. I have some labels which can be dragged across the screen. When any of these labels are dragged to some textfield and released over a textfields UIlabel test is assigned to that text field. Now the problem is this I want to assign the text of UILabel to some specific position in textfield according to release of textfield i.e If user releases at the beginning of text field then it should be appended at the beginning and if somewhere near end of text of textfield then it should be appendended at the end. • JQuery/JavaScript div tag "containment" approach/algorithm?

    - by Pete Alvin
    Background: I've created an online circuit design application where div tags are containers that contain smaller div containers and so forth. Question: For any particular div tag I need to quickly identify if it contains other div tags (that may in turn contain other div tags). I've searched JQuery and I don't see any built-in routine for this. Does anyone know of an algorithm that's quicker than O(n^2)? Seems like I have to walk the list of div tags in an outer loop (n) and have an inner loop (another n) to compare against all other div tags and do a "containment test" (position, width, height), building a list of contained div tags. That's n-squared. Then I have to build a list of all nested div tags by concatenating contained lists. So the total would be O(n^2)+n. There must be a better way?

  • Flex 3.0 Drag and Drop

    - by C-Man
    Hi all! I have encountered a problem in a Flex application. I have implemented drag and drop support from a List to a Canvas, and I DragManagers doDrag() - with.a proxy-image. In my custom DragDrop event handler, i place a new item on the Canvas. I use the event.localX/localY to position the new item. It is working ok, but the problem is that I want the "new" image to appear exactly where the proxy-image is when i release the mouse button (x/y -wise). Can I somehow get the proxys X,Y location. I thought that DragManager would have a reference to it but I can´t find it. Thanks /C

  • Types in Bytecode

    - by HH
    Hey everyone, I've been working for some time on (Java) Bytecode, however, it had never occurred to me to ask why are some instructions typed? I understand that in an ADD operation, we need to distinguish between an integer addition and a FP addition (that's why we have IADD and FADD). However, why do we need to distinguish between ISTORE and FSTORE? They both involve the exact same operation, which is moving 32 bits from the stack to a local variable position? The only answer I can think of is for type-safety, to prevent this: (ILOAD, ILOAD, FADD). However, I believe that type-safety is already enforced at the Java language level. OK, the Class file format is not directly coupled with Java, so is this a way to enforce type-safety for languages that do not support it? Any thought? Thank you.

  • SQL join to grab data from same table via intermediate table

    - by Sergio
    Hi Could someone help me with building the following query. I have a table called Sites, and one called Site_H. The two are joined by a foreign key relationship on page_id. So the Sites table contains pages, and the Site_H table shows which pages any given page is a child of by having another foreign key relation back to the site table with a column called ParentOf. So, a page can be have another page as a parent. Other data is stored in the Site_H table such as position etc, hence why it is separated out. I would like a query that returns the details of a page along with the details of its parent page. I just cant quite think about how to structure the SQL. Thanks

  • Why does UMN-Mapserver shows an ERDAS Image-File (.img) as white shape?

    - by Mnementh
    I want to render an ERDAS-Image-file (suffix .img) with the UMN-Mapserver. The data is rendered on the right position and with the correct shape, but all data is white instead of an raster-image. The Image contains many layers. My mapfile looks like this: MAP NAME "Test" WEB METADATA "wms_title" "test" "WMS_SRS" "epsg:31466 epsg:31467 epsg:31468 epsg:31469 epsg:4326 epsg:25832 epsg:3035" END LOG "test.log" IMAGEPATH "." • Which is faster: creating a detailed mesh before execution or tessellating?

    - by Nick Udell
    For simplicity of the problem let's consider spheres. Let's say I have a sphere, and before execution I know the radius, the position and the triangle count. Let's also say the triangle count is sufficiently large (e.g. ~50k triangles). Would it be faster generally to create this sphere mesh before hand and stream all 50k triangles to the graphics card, or would it be faster to send a single point (representing the centre of the sphere) and use tessellation and geometry shaders to build the sphere on the GPU? Would it still be faster if I had 100 of these spheres in different positions? Can I use hull/geometry shaders to create something which I can then combine with instancing?

  • How can I display characters in a map by mapfile?

    - by sirius
    Hello. I'm trying to show a map using postGIS+Mapserver.And I've displayed a PNG picture in my WEB. However, I want to show some charactors in the map, just like this: this is the example from Mapserver Now I'm using database(postgreSQL), but not a shape file. How can I add the charactors then? Here is a part of my mapfile: LAYER CONNECTIONTYPE postgis NAME "state" //Connect to a remote spatial database CONNECTION "user=postgres dbname=*** host=*** password=***" PROCESSING "CLOSE_CONNECTION=DEFER" DATA "the_geom from province" STATUS ON TYPE POLYGON CLASS STYLE COLOR 122 122 122 OUTLINECOLOR 0 0 0 END LABEL COLOR 132 31 31 SHADOWCOLOR 218 218 218 SHADOWSIZE 2 2 TYPE TURETYPE FONT arial-bold SIZE 12 ANTIALIAS TRUE POSITION CL PARTIALS FALSE MINDISTANCE 300 BUFFER 4 END END Some said adding a "TEXT ([*])" in "LABEL", but I don't know howto? Thanks for your help!

  • Blogger Template not saving after Facebook like changes

    - by David Shellabarger
    I've add the facebook Like button to http://www.goldfishview.com/ and that works great. Its powered by Blogger. Now I want to move it to the end of my posts instead of a the beginning. I move the facebook iframe and the preview looks great, but once I save the template it reverts back to were it was. I've tried in Chrome and Firefox. In Chrome after I click preview the save template button becomes useless and doesn't do anything when I click on it. In Firefox everything looks like it takes, but on page refresh the iFrame goes back to its original position. Am I crazy?

  • Sticky Footers that move down when dynamic content gets loaded

    - by Dominic Rodger
    I've been using this snippet of jQuery to get a sticky footer: if($(document.body).height() < $(window).height()){ $("#footer").css({position: "absolute",top:($(window).scrollTop()+$(window).height()-$("#footer").height())+"px", width: "100%"}); } $(window).scroll(positionFooter).resize(positionFooter); However, that breaks when I've got expandable/collapsible divs lying around where the original content was less high than the window, since it is then stuck to the bottom of the window, rather than the bottom of the document. Is there a way of fixing this, or a better way of doing it? Please bear in mind that I don't have much control over the HTML, since I need to do this in Django's admin interface, which doesn't allow much injection of HTML in the places you might want to to accomplish this sort of thing (i.e. this answer and this answer don't work for me).

  • What's the VB.NET equivalent of this C# code for wiring up and declaring an event?

    - by Ben McCormack
    I'm working on a tutorial to build a media player in Silverlight and am trying to wire up an EventHandler to the timer.Tick event of a DispatchTimer object so that the time of the video is synced with a Slider object. The sample code is in C# and I can't for the life of me figure out the proper syntax in VB.NET with RaiseEvent and/or Handles to wire up the event. Below is the relevant C# code. I'll include comments on where I'm getting stuck. private DispatchTimer timer; public Page() { //... timer = new DispatchTimer(); timer.Interval = TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(50); timer.Tick += new EventHandler(timer_Tick); // <== I get stuck here b/c // I can't do "timer.Tick += ..." in VB.NET } void timer_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (VideoElement.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan.TotalSeconds > 0) { sliderScrubber.Value = VideoElement.Position.TotalSeconds / VideoElement.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan.TotalSeconds; } }

  • Can this be done with single SQL query

    - by Ghostrider
    I'm using MySQL. I have a table Type SubType 1 1 1 5 1 6 1 8 2 2 2 3 3 1 3 2 3 3 For each type there is some number of subtypes. For every subtype in a type there is a corresponding subtype in the next type: (1,1) => (2,2) (1,5) => (2,3) (1,6) => (2,2) (1,8) => (2,3) (2,2) => (3,1) (2,3) => (3,2) In case you haven't seen the pattern, here it is: you sort both current and next types by subtype, then in the next type you get subtype in the same position as your current subtype in current type is. If there are more subtypes in the current type that in the next one, you warp around and start from the first subtype in the next type. Is it possible to construct a query that takes current type and subtype and returns corresponding subtype in the next type?

  • What are some best practices for making sure your .NET code will scale well?

    - by billmaya
    Last week I interviewed for a position at a TripleA MMORPG game company here in NE. I didn't get the job but one of the areas that came up during the interview was the about the scalability of the code that you write and how it should be considered early on in the design of your architecture and classes. Sadly to say I've never thought very much about the scalability of the .NET code that I've written (I work with single user desktop and mobile applications and our major concerns are usually with device memory and rates of data transmission). I'm interested in learning more about writing code that scales up well so it can handle a wide range of remote users in a client server environment, specifically MMORPGs. Are there any books, web sites, best practices, etc. that could get me started researching this topic?

  • What is the modern eqivalent (C++) style for the older (C-like) fscanf method?

    - by Chris_45
    What is the best option if I want to "upgrade" old C-code to newer C++ when reading a file with a semicolon delimiter: /* reading in from file C-like: */ fscanf(tFile, "%d", &mypost.nr); /*delimiter ; */ fscanf(tFile, " ;%[^;];", mypost.aftername);/* delimiter ; */ fscanf(tFile, " %[^;]", mypost.forename); /*delimiter ; */ fscanf(tFile, " ;%[^;];", mypost.dept);/*delimiter ; */ fscanf(tFile, " %[^;];", mypost.position);/* delimiter ; */ fscanf(tFile, "%d", &mypost.nr2); //eqivalent best C++ method achieving the same thing?

  • How do I get the co-ordinates of a mouse click on a transformed WPF control?

    - by BlackWasp
    I'm playing with a simple WPF application. One part of it includes a grid containing several controls. The grid is rotated using a LayoutTransform and a RotateTransform. I need to get the co-ordinates of a mouse-click relative to the top-left of the grid, taking the rotation into account. To be clear, let's say I have a single drawing surface within the grid and no transform had been applied. I then click at location X = 20, Y = 10 and put a dot on the drawing surface at that point. If the grid is now rotated by 30 degrees and I click on the dot (which is also moved by the rotation), the click position should still be X = 20, Y = 10.

  • Table Disobeys W3C Box Model, Ie8 Ignores Fixed Table Width !

    - by Axel Myers
    Hi, I'm having hard time with tables and column widths. Update: I'm using XHTML Strict 1.0. The page is: http://www.pro-turk.net/try The first problem I have is, I have a column with a fixed width of 100px and 4px padding, but it disobeys my padding depending on the value. The column width (as the distance between two borders according to W3C Box Model) is 156 px even if padding is 0 or 4. Only the position of the text changes. According to W3C Box Model ( available at www.pro-turk.net/box_model.png ), borders and paddings aren't included in WIDTH attribute, so why does it render wrongly ? The second problem is, when you look the page I gave with IE8, the first cell in the second row has 150px fixed width, but ie shows it about 50% of the total table width regardless of what i say.

  • C++ template class error with operator ==

    - by Tommy
    Error: error C2678: binary '==' : no operator found which takes a left-hand operand of type 'const entry' (or there is no acceptable conversion) The function: template <class T, int maxSize> int indexList<T, maxSize>::search(const T& target) const { for (int i = 0; i < maxSize; i++) if (elements[i] == target) //ERROR??? return i; // target found at position i // target not found return -1; } indexList.h indexList.cpp Is this suppose to be an overloaded operator? Being a template class I am not sure I understand the error? Solution- The overload function in the class now declared const: //Operators bool entry::operator == (const entry& dE) const <-- { return (name ==dE.name); }

  • Connecting Android XML and Code

    - by Nick
    I'm new to android and have gotten used to doing all my previous UI in code. I can understand the simple examples, but I'm trying something more complex and have no idea how to do it in code and XML. I'm trying to use the google map api and draw text on the map at a specified spot. I have succeeded in doing so by extending overlay and overriding the draw method using drawtext. This has pretty much accomplished what I'm looking to do, but I want have read that is poor practice. I now want to add a second line below the first and just using \n does not work. I can work it out using another drawtext method, but I figured it would be better to create a custom textview, I just have no idea how to position it using code and encapsulate it inside the overlay. Maybe the way I'm doing it is the best way...

  • IE7: element showing even with display: none

    - by dmr
    I am trying to hide a "required" message when the page is first shown. On FF and IE8 this works, but for some reason the message shows on IE7. Here is the HTML: <div id="passwordDivRequired" class="requiredMsg"> <img src="images/required.png" /> Required </div> And here is the CSS: .requiredMsg img{ width: 1.5em; height: 1.5em; position: relative; bottom: -.4em; } div .requiredMsg { color: #BF5754; display: none; }
