I wanna use the data validation list to pull all the people and info from a specific location. I tried using a vlookup put I only know how to use to pull one person at a time not a group of specific to a location.

• What does the suffix 'w' and 'd' mean with 'TIME+' in top?

But in the above output, I simply couldn't understand what 21212906w and 54518724d mean? some considerable no of processes are showing the TIME+ with w and d prefixed. What does this mean? Is the server in trouble? Just to let you know - the server uptime is 4days. EDIT: - I can guess these refer week and days. If so why is it so large considering the uptime? - The server has 8 cores.

• 11gr2 DataGuard: Restarting DUPLICATE After a Failure

  One of the great new features that comes in very handy when databases get larger and larger these days is RMAN's capability to duplicate from an active database and even restart a duplicate when it fails. Imagine yourself the problem I had lately; I used the duplicate from active database feature and had to wait for an hour or 6 before all datafiles where transferred.At the end of the process some error occurred because of the syntax. While this error was easily to solve I was afraid I had to redo the complete procedure and transfer the 2.5 TB again. Well, 11gr2 RMAN surprised when I re-ran my command with the following output: Using previous duplicated file +DATA/fin2prod/datafile/users.2968.719237649 for datafile 12 with checkpoint SCN of 183289288148 Using previous duplicated file +DATA/fin2prod/datafile/users.2703.719237975 for datafile 13 with checkpoint SCN of 183289295823 Above I only show a small snippet, but what happend is that RMAN smartly skipped all files that where already transferred ! The documentation says this: RMAN automatically optimizes a DUPLICATE command that is a repeat of a previously failed DUPLICATE command. The repeat DUPLICATE command notices which datafiles were successfully copied earlier and does not copy them again. This applies to all forms of duplication, whether they are backup-based (with and without a target connection) or active database duplication. The automatic optimization of the DUPLICATE command can be especially useful when a failure occurs during the duplication of very large databases. If a DUPLICATE operation fails, you need only run the DUPLICATE again, using the same parameters contained in the original DUPLICATE command. Please see chapter 23 of the 11g Release 2 Database Backup and Recovery User's Guide for more details. B.w.t. be very careful with the duplicate command.   Often we tend to represent the data present in the table in a graphical format to give a visual impression of the data. This article would be explaining the way to achieve it using the data we have in ADFdi table of the integrated workbook. Pre-requisites: Microsoft Office 2007 JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.0 and above Assuming we are already having an ADFdi enabled workbook with a table based on an Employee table as shown in the image below. Also, add the table.download to the ribbon toolbar as menu item / as action for the startup event. From excel, we'll add a new 3D bar chart Now, we need to select the data range for the chart. We will take an example of chart based on the salary of the employees. So, the data for the X-Axis of the chart would be the Ename and the data for the Y-Axis being the salary. We can do that by right clicking on the Chart and selecting Select Data. We would select the Legend Entry Series name as the Sal header column in the table, and for the data, we select both the header row and the row below it (by holding Shift key). And, for the Category Axis, we select the Ename header row and the row below it (by holding Shift key). We can get the chart now, by running the Workbook and downloading the data into the table. This simple example can be enhanced for complex graphs by using the data from the ADFdi table to use the power of excel along with ADF Desktop Integration.

  I have recently distributed my WiFi network with highpseed antennas to my area which covers almost 300-400 peoples. I am not charging them anything but i would like to generate some revenue through Advertisements placed on the websites that they visit. Is it possible to display ads from Google (I know i can do redirect the Advertisements, using some cache server or firewall) . Its just like a free vpn but i would like to have my advertisements above the websites they visit so i can take out the cost for the WiFi that i offer. Any suggestions would be great!

• Server vendor that allows 3rd party disks

  As noted here, Dell is no longer allowing 3rd party disks to be used with their latest servers. As in, they don't work period. Which means that if you buy one of these boxes and want to upgrade the storage later, you have buy disks from Dell at significant premiums. Dell has just given me a very strong reason to take my server business elsewhere. My company buys (instead of leasing) our servers, and typically uses them for 5 years. I need to be able to upgrade/repurpose storage periodically, and do not want to be locked in to whatever Dell might have in stock, at inflated prices to boot. As you will see in the comments of the above link, it seems HP is doing the same thing. I am looking for a server vendor that offers 3-5 year warranty with same day/next day onsite service, and allows me to use 3rd party disks. Suggestions?

  Any suggestion for HD video capture card? Here is my requirements: I need 2 HDMI input for 2 HD Camera the signal captured will be encoded with Adobe Live Encoder (does it support dual input sources? I do not require mixing of 2 sources) the encoding format will be H.264 (720p), then will be sent to Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server for LIVE broadcasting. http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/ I found the one above online, but I am not sure about its performance, and it has only 1 HDMI input. If I plug 2 of them into my workstation, will it conflict with each other?

• Two Network Adapters on Hyper-V Host - Best way to configure?

  Hi, I have two physical network adapters installed in my Hyper-V host. I want one to be dedicated to the host, and the other to provide external network services to the VMs. Would the appropriate configuration be as such: Leave the first physical network adapter alone, assigning it the host IP, but not using it to create any Virtual Netorks For the second physical adapter, I would create an External Network, along with a Microsoft Virtual Switch, and use that to provide network services to the VMs. Each virtual NIC for the VM would be associated with that External Network. A static IP would be assigned to this adapter, and each VM would be assigned a static IP as well. The above seems reasonable to me, but I'm not sure if it's correct. Does anyone have any thoughts?   Hiya, I'm trying to find an integrated PM solution which will give my business all of the following: Timesheeting so we can track time spent on tasks Holiday planner (integrated with timesheet and project management Project management tool, integrating the above, with milestones, gantt chart, dependancies etc. Forecasting ability (nice to have, but not a requirement) Reporting capability - especially time spent on projects, costs etc. Now yeah, that's quite a lot of functionality, I appreciate that! But currently we've got 3 systems, none of which really talk to each other and it's a right headache. So far we've looked at: OpenWorkbench - not enough features Basecamp - not enough features and too reliant on online MS Project - too expensive? • Collision Detection Code Structure with Sloped Tiles

  Im making a 2D tile based game with slopes, and I need help on the collision detection. This question is not about determining the vertical position of the player given the horizontal position when on a slope, but rather the structure of the code. Here is my pseudocode for the collision detection: void Player::handleTileCollisions() { int left = //find tile that's left of player int right = //find tile that's right of player int top = //find tile that's above player int bottom = //find tile that's below player for(int x = left; x <= right; x++) { for(int y = top; y <= bottom; y++) { switch(getTileType(x, y)) { case 1: //solid tile { //resolve collisions break; } case 2: //sloped tile { //resolve collisions break; } default: //air tile or whatever else break; } } } } When the player is on a sloped tile, he is actually inside the tile itself horizontally, that way the player doesn't look like he is floating. This creates a problem because when there is a sloped tile next to a solid square tile, the player can't move passed it because this algorithm resolves any collisions with the solid tile. • Interactive Reporting with BI Publisher 11G

  One of the new features that came out with BI Publisher 11G and made me really excited about is the Interactive Viewer, which allows you to interact with the data presented in the reports and gain more insights about the data. You can have as many Table, Chart, Pivot Table, Gauge components in a single report and all of them are linked together so that you can click on any data point on the components such as Chart, Pivot Table, Gauge, and that would refresh other components in the report to reflect the selection without refreshing the whole report or page. No longer you need to navigate to another report or open other reports to see related data or drill down to the detail data. It’s all there within a single report. • Subversion 1.7 on 12.04 precise: libsasl error, compiling from source?

  Background: I am a longtime Gentoo user, and this is my first time using Ubuntu (installed on a VM to avoid compiling everything from scratch). I am familiar with a Linux environment but somewhat unfamiliar with Ubuntu. I am trying to install Subversion 1.7 on Ubuntu and saw this post: Where can I find a Subversion 1.7 binary? The above post recommends using the PPA ppa:dominik-stadler/subversion-1.7. I also found the PPA ppa:svn/ppa from another link. They both cause problems for me. The issue is that any svn operation using the remote server causes the following error: svn: E170001: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'svn+ssh://my_repo' svn: E170001: Could not create SASL context: generic failure: No such file or directory This seems to arise from a recent bug involving SVN dependency on the libsasl library, as documented by Debian users here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=683555 and also Mac users here: https://trac.macports.org/ticket/34861 Resolution seems to involve either updating the cyrus-sasl or libsasl library to a newer version (neither of which is in the latest apt packages), or compiling subversion without SASL support. As a Gentoo user I started looking into how to compile svn from source, but it looks way more complicated on Ubuntu than I'm used to and I'm not sure what the canonical way is. My questions: Is there an obvious fix for this problem that I am overlooking? Is there a way to update the dependencies for SVN to something that works through using synaptic or apt-get? If I want to compile from scratch, how do I use the sources in the PPA instead of downloading my own source copy (i.e. the PPA has both binary and sources?)

  The main advantage is the use of ReSharper and other add-ons but we need to make a convincing argument for the purchase of Visual Studio 2012 Professional. We are currently using Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows. It is quite good but is hard to switch from using the full Professional version in the past. So far the team has compiled the following list: Extract Interface function missing. Very useful for clean SOLID code. No add-on support. Can’t install StyleCop or productivity tools. AnkhSvn, Spell checker, Productivity PowerTools, GhostDoc, Regex Editor, PowerCommands. The exception assistant is limited in Express edition. This is a big annoyance. Possibility of create a Test project based on source code. We do server development in C# so any web add-ons or anything else is useless. • Google Analytics cookie across SagePay checkout

  We use SagePay's Server integration for our online payments. We use Google Analytics to track activity on our website and Google Ecommerce tracking to log transactions. In Google Analytics, under the Ecommerce view, it shows direct/none for source/medium, as the 1st party cookie is lost when visiting the external SagePay checkout pages before the customer is redirected to my confirmation page which tracks the transaction. In all the answers I have viewed when searching for a solution, the suggestion is to alter the tracking code to read _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'none']); _gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', true]); but this needs to be implemented on all pages, including 3rd party domains (SagePay). As SagePay don't allow javascript in their template customisation, what can I do? Is there another way? Edit: I just found this code: var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker('UA-XXXXX-X'); pageTracker._setCampNameKey('ga_campaign'); // name pageTracker._setCampMediumKey('ga_medium'); // medium pageTracker._setCampSourceKey('ga_source'); // source pageTracker._setCampNOKey('ga_nooverride'); // don't override pageTracker._trackPageview(); Could I store pre-checkout values for source/campaign/medium to a cookie and the retrieve it post-checkout into the code above, or would this start a new tracking session?

• Unable to enter ubuntu after reboot PC; showing black screen with lots of weire words

  I use Wubi to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Windows 7 system. My PC is Acer Aspire S5-391 with a 64-bit operating system. After I finish installing Wubi on Windows I reboot my PC as told by the instruction. Then I got a black screen with the following words shown: [[BGave up waiting for root device. Common Problems: -Boot args (cat/proc/cmdline) -Check rootdelay=(did the system wait long enough?) -check root=(did the system wait for the right device?) -Missing modules(cat/proc/modules; ls/dev) ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/928E20128E1FEE0B does not exist. Dropping to a shell! BusyBox v1.18.5(ubuntu 1:1.18.5-1ubuntu4)built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. (intramfs) _ I don't know how to deal with this but force my PC to shut down. I can still successfully enter Windows. But everytime I try to enter unbuntu, it shows the above words.......

• SQL Developer: Describe versus Ctrl+Click to Open Database Objects

  In yesterday’s post I talked about you could use SQL Developer’s Describe (SHIFT+F4) to open a PL/SQL Package at your cursor. You might get an error if you try to describe this… If you actually try to describe the package as you see it in the above screenshot, you’ll get an error: Doh! I neglected to say in yesterday’s post that I was highlighting the package name before I hit SHIFT+F4. This works just fine, but it will work even better in our next release as we’ve fixed this issue. Until then, you can also try the Ctrl+Hover with your mouse. For PL/SQL calls you can open the source immediately based on what you’re hovering over with your mouse cursor. You could try this with “dbms_output.put_line(” too Ctrl+Click, It’s not just for PL/SQL If you don’t like the floating describe windows you get when you do a SHIFT+F4 on a database object, the ctrl+click will work too. Instead of opening a normal ‘hover’ panel, you’ll be taken directly to the object editor for that table, view, etc. Go ahead and try it right now. Paste this into your worksheet, then ctrl+click with your mouse over the table name: select * from scott.emp And now you know, the rest of the story.

• Ubuntu one, music streaming

  I'm running Ubuntu 11.10, and just signed up for Ubuntu One and Ubuntu One Music. Generally file sync is working fine, but music has been a complete failure so far. Here's what I'm looking at: After 24 hours, not a single mp3 or ogg file from my laptop has sync'd to the Cloud Music folder. I have 4 gigs of data used, which is definitely not enough to include music files. That's about the right amount for my docs and photos. With music, it should be more like 13 gigs. No music shows up on the Ubuntu One Music app on my phone, nor on the web view of my Ubuntu One Cloud folder I followed all the online instructions I could find. Basically, on my laptop, right click on the Music folder and select "Ubuntu One Synchronize this folder" The Music folder now has a green check mark on it indicating its sync'd The Ubuntu One app on my laptop says "File Sync is up to date" I did provide credit card information, and on the Ubuntu One website "Music Streaming" is listed as one of my services. So what am I doing wrong? Just read this post as I'm experiencing the same problem, the answer for this post says that due to the large number of files trying to be uploaded, that it could take up to a week. However I am, as above also being told that "File sync is up to date" Can somebody confirm that this is a bug and that I just need to wait for File sync to actually be up to date? Cheers

• How can I get a scheduled task to run for a user regardless of which computer the user is logged onto?

  I've got a scheduled task that needs to run for a user at a specific time. However, the user sometimes logs onto one machine, the next day onto another, then next week onto yet another. At some pint during the day, the user might have to log onto another machine. How do I get the scheduled task to run regardless of which computer the user is using? I could of course create the task on all computers, but that seems a bit overkill. Running a script on log on (or a group policy) to create the task doesn't seem a good method either. Any ideas? Basically I want the scheduled task to be defined on the user instead of on the computer. If in the end I need to choose between the two options above, which is best?

• Hyper-V performance comparisons vs physical client?

  Are there any comparisons between Hyper-V client machines and their physical equivalent? I've looked around and can find 4000 articles about improving Hyper-V performance, but I can't find any that actually do a side-by-side comparison or give benchmarking numbers. Ideally, I'm interested in a comparison of CPU, memory, disk, and graphics performance between something like the following: Some powerful workstation (with plenty of RAM) with Windows 7 installed on it directly Same exact worksation with Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 (the bare Server role) and a full-screen Windows 7 client machine Virtual Server 2005 had performance that didn't compare at all with actual hardware, but with the advances in CPU and hardware-level virtualization, has performance improved significantly? How obvious would it be to a user of the two above scenarios that one of them was virtualized, and does anybody know of actual benchmarking of this type?

• Windows 7 Connection Sharing unable to access some sites

  I have a pretty sad networking situation that involves connecting to an open Wireless network and sharing that connection to an Ethernet that is plugged into a Linksys router. This has been done with XP and Windows 7, and it works great with XP. The problem with Windows 7 is that only some DNS will work. I don't know if it's been poisoned on the network above us (which we have no control over), but we've tried clearing the DNS cache as well as moving to using Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4). Here is a really quick list of sites that won't respond to DNS requests at all via dig, although if I get the IP address I can ping them: facebook.com yuilibrary.com twitter.com A lot of sites do work though. Anyone have an idea? It may be a subnet problem? If anyone wants more info let me know.

• How can I uninstall AppFabric?

  I recently upgraded from Win 7 - Win 8. AppFabric was not one of the programs that came up as being incompatible when I ran the upgrade wizard, so I did not uninstall it. Now whenever I goto "Add or remove features" I get the following error: --------------------------- Windows Server AppFabric Setup Wizard --------------------------- Windows Server AppFabric is not supported on current operating system Windows 8 Pro(version 6.2.9200.0). Please refer to installation guide for the list of supported operating systems. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Unfortunately the only way to uninstall AppFabric is via the "Add or remove features" - does anyone know a commandline command to kick the uninstall so I can at least access "Add or remove features"? Edit: C:\Windows\System32\AppFabric\Setup.exe /remove Throws the same error as above.

• Auto-Attach EBS-volume to a New Spot Instance?

  I am experimenting with EC2 spot instances, and am needing some data to be retained between terminations. Now as I understand it, when the current price goes above my max. bid, it will be automatically terminated. I assume any init scripts I have will be run on shutdown so I can push data off to the EBS before unmounting. My question is, how can I automatically mount the same EBS volume on the new spot instance once the price goes down, since it won't have any of my init scripts that I would've loaded onto the root volume the first time? Do I have to create a custom AMI, or is there some other way to achieve this?

• Unlocking AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition cores - what are the risks?

  I've got the above mentioned CPU and a GigaByte GA-MA790XT-UD4P motherboard, which should be capable of unlocking the extra two cores - if I'm lucky and they're not faulty. The Internet is full of instructions on how to do that. What I don't have is spare money to buy new hardware if I brick something. What are the risks when attempting to do this? Is it completely safe, or can I be left with an expensive pile of junk? What should I keep in mind when doing so? Bigger cooler maybe (I'm running with the default box cooler)? Should I lower the frequencies too? I've never done any OC before.
