  • Get the affinity of a SQLite column on Android

    The SQLite C library has a method, sqlite3_column_decltype(). But I cannot find any place where the Android SQLite API makes this method available. Is there any way to get the declared type of a column without running any SQL (i.e. can I avoid using PRAGMA table_info)? I could have used AbstractWindowedCursor.isBlob(), but it says that it will also return true if the field is NULL. I need something that will guarantee me a value equal to the column's declared type.

Now i want to extend it to be streamed to UPnP devices in my network. Any help on how i can find the list of UPnP devices in my network, then share media with that devices.. I found the little help from http://teleal.org/projects/cling/core/manual/cling-core-manual.html They have their own API for using UPnP service. Any body who have worked on UPnP service can help me.     In my Android application I need to load Google map and show the location according to the Latitude and the Longitude values provided. I referred the following tutorial and its completely ok. Work fine. Link to the tutorial I followed Problem is Latitude and Longitude values are stored in SQLite database in the DMS Fromat. If those values were in the Decimal Degrees format then No problem, as I can do the way it was in that tutorial. I need to Show the exact place by adding Overlay Item(I have given the Longitude and Latitude values by DMS Format). [Example values: 36°7'59''N, 5°25'59''W] Thanks...

  • Toast on top of ListView in Android?

    Hi, I have a listview in my Android Application. Now, when the user presses Next Button other contents will be loaded into the listview. What I want is that if there are no more contents available then there should be a toast displayed indicating that there are no more data available. Say, for example I have a total of 55 data available and I am displaying only 30 of them in one listview. So, when the user presses Next for the first time next 25 records will be visible. If the user again presses the Next button then a toast should be displayed on top of the last listview that had last 25 records. Currently I get an error as IndexOutOfBoundException : Invalid location 15 size is 1. Can someone suggest how is it possible? Regards Sunil

    Is there any sort of xml reference? I found this which turned out to be invaluable for me http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/msg/d334017d72909c79 but I can't figure out how I was supposed to know how to do that, had I not found that post. I know that the api reference has xml attributes listed for many of the classes... but what about xml tags? Where is it documented that I could build a shape using , , tags? I'd really like to know where I can find such documentation.

  • Change column names of a cube action as they appear in Visual Studio

    the title pretty much says it all. I have a cube with data in it and I have yet to find a way to change the column names. They appear in a very ugly manner like [cubeName].[$dimension.columnName]. I have tried everything I know and anything I found on the web but nothing seems to be working. What I tried to do in most cases is create an Action in the Actions tab and write some MDX query language in there. No results whatsoever. As if the action is never run. Does anyone know how to do this? I've spent about 3 days trying to figure this out. Thank you.

    I am having a Java application running in a Tomcat server using Spring, Hibernate, etc. and a two web interfaces, one implemented in Tapestry 5 and the other one using Flex with BlazeDS and Spring-BlazeDS. In my first android application I would now like to log in to the server and retrieve some data. I´m wondering how I could achieve this in a secure way. First of all I need to know which technology is the best to retrieve data from the server and how can I restrict the access to users only that have been successfully authenticated. With what I read until now I would try to implement a HTTPServlet on the server and make server calls via HTTP Client. In the servlet I could probably use the HTTPSession to check if the request comes from an authenticated user. And the data I would try to send serialized (JSON). Unfortunately, I´ve never done those things and maybe I´m on the wrong way and there are more comfortable solutions.

    I have the .def file, .lib file, the .dll, the source files. It's using WINAPI DllMain, all its functions follow that. It's like this: BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HANDLE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved ) { return TRUE; } extern "C" { int WINAPI DoSomething() { return -1; } int WINAPI DOSOMETHIGNELSE!() { return 202020; } }; IN the project settings linker I added the .lib file. There is no header file for the actual functions in the extern "C" part. I include windows.h try to call DoSomething() but doesnt know what it is.

    It is a simple stupid question, but i cant find any info on the web. I have an android app with a custom dialog. The dialog has the default grey 1px border. But it also has a black border around that grey line. I want to remove the black part. the dialog is made in xml and i call: dialog.setContentView(R.layout.xxxxx); as soon as i do that the black border is there. However the xml has not a background color set. also a transparant color in the xml doesn't helps. if i do not call setcontentview. then a small dialog appears but without a strange border.

  • Visual Studio (2005 & 2008) Compile Completed Alert?

    Does anyone know of any kind of plugin or alert system which will let me know when my compiles are completed? Some of the solutions I work with are gigantic and sometimes the compiles can take 5-20 minutes (depending on the PC). Thus I would like to do something else in the meantime, but I don't want to keep checking back to see if the compile is done. Is there any way to have a windows alert, or flash the screen when the compile is done? It would let me browse the internet whilst waiting for the compile to finish without worrying that its been complete and I'm just wasting time.

    When I'm trying to change the default Image of a Control on Windows Forms in Form Designer (no matter where on which control) I get this error: Error message: An item with the same key has already been added I tried to delete and recreate the Resources.resx file.. I assured that only 1 resx file with these keys exist.. (in fact that's my only resource file) but it still does not work. I have som strings in it and some images. That's all. Any idea?

    Hello all, I am a newb to Android and Java and want to write a funtion that will display a list based on a varable that I pass to the function. The function is below and the code below creates an array out of a string called type, but what I want to do is pass it a variable string and have it build a list based on that string. So if I wanted the type list I would say list_it("type") But if I try something like getResources().getStringArray(R.array.thelist); it doesn't work.     Hello - I am currently starting to create an app for a small charity company. But Im not entirely sure how to properly learn how to code for the Android OS. I have searched online for tutorials but most stop at the same stage and only show you how to launch the "helloWorld" app. My question is this: 1) Will using solely XML be sufficient to code an app? Does it require working in partnership with java? 2) Does anyone know of any books, recommended books of course, that break everything down for you step-by-step? Cheers

    I have a few questions about the Android browser download manager . Does it support multiple downloads at the same time? From the code it looks like it does. What's advantage of using HTTPRequest over URL/URLConnection to download files? 3.The download manager opens and closes connection for each download. Is it the right thing to do? Or is it better to use the same connection for for all the download requests(by changing the required parameters) and then clse the connection?

  • [Android] GPS can't run inside TimerTask

    Hi, I am trying to write an android app that acquires a GPS signal at a fix time interval, for example every 1 minute. Since the requestLocationUpdate function does not exactly implement that, I tried to use task to accomplished it. public class getGPS extends TimerTask{ public void run(){ System.out.println("Running a GPS task"); locHandler = new locationUpdateHandler(); myManager.requestLocationUpdates(provider, 60000, 0, locHandler); } } public void LoadCoords(){ Timer timer = new Timer(); timer.scheduleAtFixedRate(new getGPS(), 0, 60000); } However, from what I've seen, requestLocationUpdates would run fine if I put it inside LoadCoords(), but would not run if I put it inside the TimerTask (ie no green icon on the task bar to show that GPS is looking for a fix). Can anyone please suggest an alternative approach or pseudo-code, or correct my mistake if there is one ? Thank you in advance.

  • how to play an encrypted file in Android.

    I need to be able to play an encrypted file in Android. The file is AAC. The only way I can see to do this is either: decrypt the file to internal private storage and point the player at that file to play, or decrypt & decode the file to pcm and feed it to an AudioTrack. 1 isn't great because it takes a long time to do that. 2 isn't great either because I don't know how I can take advantage of the HW decoder to do this. Any ideas? tia.

    Hi all, Would like to know if there is a setting anywhere which causes debugging to automatically stop when IE closes, and also if there is a way for this to work the other way around and IE to close if debugging stops. I know that this works when the project type I'm working on is a 'Web Application', I'd like to know if the same functionality exists when working on a 'Web Site' Thanks all.
