So say for example, you're 3rd out of all the players, I inserted a condition that will display it as 3rd, not 3th and i did the same for 2nd and 1st. When getting to higher ranks though, such as 2883rd, it'll display 2883th (for obvious reasons) My question is, how can I get it to reformat the number to XXX1st, XXX2nd, XXX3rd etc?   • Are IIS services closed after some time?

    I'd like to host a WCF web service in IIS. The service should keep a certain set of data all the time, it must never be lost. My colleague told me this is impossible because IIS closes down the service after a certain time (I assume without any activity). Is that true? How do I prevent that behavior? In case it matters, both IIS 6 and 7 are available.

Would it be possible for the admins of the site to change the links we post in our answers to have their target as _blank. It is quite hard when it is _self as we look at those urls in correlation with what the post is about so I wouldn't want it to replace the post.

    Possible Duplicate: PHP Regular express to remove <h1> tags (and their content) I have some HTML that looks like this: <h2> Fund Management</h2> <p> The majority of property investments are now made via our Funds.</p> Trying to use a regular expression to strip h2 tags but doesn't work because of the space between the opening and closing h2 tags. preg_replace('/<h2>(.+?)<\/h2>/', '', $content); Any ideas on how to make this work? Also I would ideally like it to replace h1-h6 tags so maybe it needs [1-6] or something?

  • Net Neutrality FAIL [closed]

    I know I'll get into all kinds of trouble for bringing this up on SO, but considering that nearly all of us programmers depend on the Internet to get our jobs done, I really think it's worth looking into today's failure of our right to use the Internet by way of Lobbying ISPs. Although something tells me there will be retribution for the actions of the ISPs/tel cos/cable and their lobbyist since, lets face it...ISPs/Telcos didn't invent the Internet. I'm not going to be the one to do it, but um I think somebody already has...as everybody I talked to was having Internet connection problems today at work. Just thought this might be relevant to all of our jobs...in the U.S.A. at least. If you work at an Big evil ISPs, by all means...try and close this question.   • Corporate Environment [closed]

    How do you guys live in corporate environment? Especially talk to each other (developer to developer). I find it extremely hard as any question goes to "please book a meeting for that". Sometimes I get a chance to ask sb sth on the kitchen but that's it. Booked meetings are just stupidest thing ever, 'cos people talk about nothing specific and you have to wait days for them to happen. Weekly "scrums" are even more stupid as they usually take about 10 mins and you could do the same in 1 minute by email, no useful info or communication et all. All that leads to zero understanding of the product, no connection to customers, development in own isolated cubible, throwing out most of your code because that's not what was needed and you never know what the product is really aimed to do. Sad :(

  • SIMPLE PHP MVC Framework [closed]

    I need a simple and basic MVC example to get me started. I don't want to use any of the available packaged frameworks. I am in need of a simple example of a simple PHP MVC framework that would allow, at most, the basic creation of a simple multi-page site. I am asking for a simple example because I learn best from simple real world examples. Big popular frameworks (such as code igniter) are to much for me to even try to understand and any other "simple" example I have found are not well explained or seem a little sketchy in general. I should add that most examples of simple MVC frameworks I see use mod_rewrite (for URL routing) or some other Apache-only method. I run PHP on IIS. I need to be able to understand a basic MVC framework, so that I could develop my own that would allow me to easily extend functionality with classes. I am at the point where I understand basic design patterns and MVC pretty well. I understand them in theory, but when it comes down to actually building a real world, simple, well designed MVC framework in PHP, I'm stuck. Edit: I just want to note that I am looking for a simple example that an experienced programmer could whip up in under an hour. I mean simple as in bare bones simple. I don't want to use any huge frameworks, I am trying to roll my own. I need a decent SIMPLE example to get me going.

    Possible Duplicate: The written versions of the logical operators. I notice that C++ define keyword and, or, not, xor, and_eq, or_eq, not_eq and xor_eq as an alternative to &&, ||, !, ^, &=, |=, != and |=. and they're rarely used! What's wrong? Are they not portable?
