  • Opening Time-Machine OSX backup files on Windows 7?

    Hi, Have Time Machine backups on a Western Digital External HD. The Time Machine backups were done on my now dead Mac G4 running OSX Leopard- I am waiting on a new iMac but in the meantime I need to access some of my backup files urgently. I have a laptop running Windows 7 so is there any safe way of accessing some of the files from the Time Machine backup on my laptop and still be able to do a full restore when the iMac arrives? This works fine if I blacklist the radeon kernel module via /etc/modprobe.d/.   • x264 IDR access unit with a SPS and a PPS

    Hi All, I am trying to encode video in h.264 that when split with Apples HTTP Live Streaming tools media file segmenter will pass the media file validator I am getting two errors on the split MPEG-TS file WARNING: Media segment contains a video track but does not contain any IDR access unit with a SPS and a PPS. WARNING: 7 samples (17.073 %) do not have timestamps in track 257 (avc1). After hours of research I think the "IDR" warning relates to not having keyframes in the right place on the segmented MPEG-TS file so in my ffmpeg command I set -keyint_min 1 to ensure keyframes where at every frame, but this didn't work. Although it would be great to get an answer, if anyone can shed any light on what a "IDR access unit with a SPS and a PPS" is or what the timestamps warning means I would be very grateful, thanks.

  • VS2010 add-in custom menu item in files of Solution Explorer

    Hey guys, I need to create a custom menu item for Visual Studio 2010 Add-in in C#, but I have had no luck in coming with a solution anytime soon. I am aware that there was a similar post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2486818/visual-studio-add-in-adding-a-context-menu-item-to-solution-explorer But it did not help, as the blog follows the process through the integration package, and the video is done through VB. I had attempted to convert the VB syntax to the C# syntax, but about half way through the video, the Add-in methods has significantly changed from 2005 to 2010, as some of the methods have removed or changed. Is there any good tutorials on making a custom menu item on the Solution Explorer in the lastest Visual Studio in C#, and is there a good website that could be used as a reference for looking over the VS add-in API? I've used Microsoft's main website, however it is confusing and wordy, which is difficult to understand and find the methods, properties, or commands that I am looking for. Any help would be appreicated, Thanks in advance.

    When you use iTunes to sync your videos with the iPhone the videos are always saved with no more than 640 pixels wide, if I am not wrong. What about the iPad? What is the size of videos iTunes syncs with iPad? 1024x768? and what if the video has a dimension below 1024x768? Will it scale up? or will it keep the video at low res and scale when you play? thanks.

    I feel very confused about Android streaming to wowza. I am doing a video conference using rtmp cross-platform, but Android doesn't eat RTMP. Therefore I need to find another way to do it. Upstreaming I found a new open-source app called spydroid-ipcamera. It is using rtp, sending udp packets to computer, and opens it in vlc using the following sdp v=0 s=Unnamed m=video 5006 RTP/AVP 96 a=rtpmap:96 H264/90000 a=fmtp:96 packetization-mode=1;profile-level-id=420016;sprop-parameter-sets=Z0IAFukBQHsg,aM4BDyA=; But it can't work. Then I follow wowza tutorial and stream to it and then play again in VLC. That works! I wrote it in http://code.google.com/p/spydroid-ipcamera/issues/detail?id=2 However when I want to add audio in the packet, it fails to work.   • MediaElement.Position behaviour and Windows Phone 7 issue

    I have a problem, I have written a simple Media Player for Windows Phone 7 and can Play, Stop and control the Volume of a Video (loaded from a URI) however when I try to set the position, this causes the application to freeze. I have used both these lines, but either does not work: Player.Position = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 0, (int)Position.Value); Player.Position = TimeSpan.FromSeconds((int)(Position.Value)); I do have this event handler: void Player_MediaOpened(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Position.Maximum = Player.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan.TotalMilliseconds; } And have tried using the Seconds value, casting to Ints etc, however everytime I try to set the Position, the app freezes. The video otherwise plays normally - anyone know what the problem may be here?

  • Should I use vnd.youtube:videoID?

    While playing around with the emulator, I noticed that when trying to view a YouTube video the browser gives an error saying it can not load the page at vnd.youtube:ngc978y6rCU?some=parameters. I don't have an Android device, but by this I can suppose that launching a VIEW intent with the data URI set to vnd.youtube:VIDEO_ID would launch the default YouTube application and watch that video. Now, my application has to be able to display YouTube videos. Right now I have a custom-made YouTube activity which does just that, but I'm thinking of: Removing my custom activity and just launching a VIEW intent with a vnd.youtube:VIDEO_ID Uri, or Testing whether that Intent is available and using it, or, if it's not available, using my custom activity. Is this a good idea? Does this work at all (as I said I have no Android device, I'll just be borrowing one from a friend to test my final application)? Which way should I go?

I would like to remove that server and put the openfiler distribution as another Fault Tolerance protected machine. Is this possible? This way i could save one server and also have faster HD access.   • DPM 2010 "Disk failed or disk not found"

    I have an HP Proliant ML110 G5 server with Windows server 2008R2 only dedicated for DPM 2010. This server has a limit in HD of 8TB which has already been met. I'm now stuck in this situation where my disk keeps failing "Disk failed or Disk not found" in the disk management. Only after I reboot the system the disk comes back up. Today I was running my monthly tape backup on a certain protection group and the disk failed again while the tape job was running (so the job wasn't completed). This is the description of the error in the alerts: "The disk Disk 1 - Hitachi HDS722020ALA330 SCSI Disk Device cannot be detected or has stopped responding. All subsequent protection activities that use this disk will fail until the disk is brought back online. (ID 3120)". My backup system is becoming useless! I don't think that is a hardware issue (please correct me if I'm wrong) since the HD works fine for a certain period of time which is becoming shorter and shorter. I basically have no more option to fix this problem. I tried to fix any error that was coming up in the event viewer with no luck (included one regarding the SQL2008 compatibility issue). The disk keeps failing! Now I'm only trying to recover/migrate the data from the disk that is having problem but my issue now is that I cannot add any drives to my server since I already got installed the maximum storage capacity 8TB. I thought about 2 simple options. Please tell me what you guys think about it; Unplug one of the 2 storage pool disks (disk0, that one without problem) from the machine and install a new one in order to migrate the data with the Migration tool for DPM. Remove the defective disk (disk1), put back the disk0 and run the synchronization/consistency check on all the groups to recreate replicas and recovery points. Run diskpart.exe and clean up the disk (loosing all data) and hoping that he will work after I sync all the protection groups. Both solutions are not elegant but I have no better options at the moment. Please I need some help. Thanks for your time Angelo

  • Why can't I see the 'dataset project' property in Visual Studio DataSet designer?

    Hi, I am trying to follow 'n tier app design' tutorials and they tell me to set the DataSet Project property from the Data Set Designer in VS, to split table adaptors and entities into seprate projects. I can't see that property! (I'm looking in the same place shown on the videos... all other properties match) Does anybody know why?     I am recording some game play capture (recording playing of PS3 or Wii) using a PC with Windows 7 and Hauppauge 1212 HD Recorder, and I have 4GB of RAM... is there a way to increase the size of Windows 7's hard disk cache size so that writing to the hard drive can be super fast? Since there is at least 1.5GB of RAM not being used, something like allocating 1GB just as hard disk cache, is it possible?

    Why did my old windows 7 install boot faster/run smoother & cooler than each the three linux distros I have recently tried (ubuntu 12.04 unity, linux mint 13 MATE, and fedora 17 on gnome 3.4)?. I have tweaked my linux installs for the ssd (enabling trim, disabling swap, etc.) I'm using an Acer TravelMate with i5-2410m processor, intel hd 3000 graphics, 8 gigs of ram, and a 256 gb samsung 830 ssd.   • How to boot floppy image without floppy drive?

    Suppose I have a 1.44 MB floppy image with, say, a BIOS update, and a server with no floppy drive. How do I boot this image on the server? Without getting a USB floppy drive, that is. I tried copying the image to a USB drive (raw copy using dd), but it didn't boot, it just said "No kernel" and contiued booting on the HD.
