  • How to avoid using the plld.exe utility in VS2008 (for linking C++ and Prolog codes)

    - by Joshua Green
    Here is my code in its entirety: Trying "listing." at the Prolog prompt that pops up when I run the program confirms that my Prolog source code has been loaded (consulted). #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> #include <math.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdafx.h> using namespace std; #include "Windows.h" #include "ctype.h" #include "SWI-cpp.h" #include "SWI-Prolog.h" #include "SWI-Stream.h" int main(int argc, char** argv) { argc = 4; argv[0] = "libpl.dll"; argv[1] = "-G32m"; argv[2] = "-L32m"; argv[3] = "-T32m"; PL_initialise(argc, argv); if ( !PL_initialise(argc, argv) ) PL_halt(1); PlCall( "consult(swi('plwin.rc'))" ); PlCall( "consult('hello.pl')" ); PL_halt( PL_toplevel() ? 0 : 1 ); } So this is how to load a Prolog source code (hello.pl) at run time into VS2008 without having to use plld at the VS command prompt.

  • Need "starting point" hints about adding "tabbed" interface to Django admin

    - by Edwin
    Hi, I'm new to the web development world - that means I'm new to javaScript/CSS. Now I'm building a web system with Python Django. I'm wondering would you like to give me some hints as the starting point for adding "tabbed" interface to Django admin? For example, there are 3 detail table for a master table, and I want to use 3 different tabs for editing that 3 detail tables in the 'edit' page for the master table. Thank you in advance!

  • The future of cloud computing? [closed]

    - by Vimvq1987
    As far as I know, cloud computing is growing rapidly. Amazon EC2, Google App Engine, Microsoft Windows Azure...But I can't imagine how cloud computing will change the world. Will cloud computing will play the main role in software industry? Will our data be stored at one place and then can be accessed from any where? Shall we need powerful PCs no more because everything will be processed at "cloud"? Thank you so much

  • Sending HTML email from PHP

    - by KevinM
    I am trying to send a simple HTML e-mail from PHP. The code below simply results in a blank e-mail in GMail. It also has an empty attachment called 'noname', which is not at all what I want; though that might just be a symptom of it not working. The code I am using is: <?php //define the receiver of the email $to = '[email protected]'; //define the subject of the email $subject = 'Test HTML email'; //create a boundary string. It must be unique //so we use the MD5 algorithm to generate a random hash $random_hash = md5(date('r', time())); //define the headers we want passed. Note that they are separated with \r\n $headers = "From: [email protected]\r\nReply-To: [email protected]"; //add boundary string and mime type specification $headers .= "\r\nContent-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=\"PHP-alt-".$random_hash."\""; //define the body of the message. ob_start(); //Turn on output buffering ?> --PHP-alt-<?php echo $random_hash; ?> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello World!!! This is simple text email message. --PHP-alt-<?php echo $random_hash; ?> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <h2>Hello World!</h2> <p>This is something with <b>HTML</b>formatting.</p> --PHP-alt-<?php echo $random_hash; ?>-- <? //copy current buffer contents into $message variable and delete current output buffer $message = ob_get_clean(); //send the email $mail_sent = @mail( $to, $subject, $message, $headers ); //if the message is sent successfully print "Mail sent". Otherwise print "Mail failed" echo $mail_sent ? "Mail sent" : "Mail failed";

  • How can I declare and initialize an array of pointers to a structure in C?

    - by worlds-apart89
    I have a small assignment in C. I am trying to create an array of pointers to a structure. My question is how can I initialize each pointer to NULL? Also, after I allocate memory for a member of the array, I can not assign values to the structure to which the array element points. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> typedef struct list_node list_node_t; struct list_node { char *key; int value; list_node_t *next; }; int main() { list_node_t *ptr = (list_node_t*) malloc(sizeof(list_node_t)); ptr->key = "Hello There"; ptr->value = 1; ptr->next = NULL; // Above works fine // Below is erroneous list_node_t **array[10] = {NULL}; *array[0] = (list_node_t*) malloc(sizeof(list_node_t)); array[0]->key = "Hello world!"; //request for member ‘key’ in something not a structure or union array[0]->value = 22; //request for member ‘value’ in something not a structure or union array[0]->next = NULL; //request for member ‘next’ in something not a structure or union // Do something with the data at hand // Deallocate memory using function free return 0; }

  • why make non-privileged methods?

    - by aharon
    I'm learning JavaScript, and I can't understand why you'd make methods that aren't 'privileged,' that is, that aren't defined in the constructor but rather the class' prototype. I understand the idea of encapsulation and all, but you never encapsulate parts of a class from the rest of it in most of the OO world.

  • Role of Bias in Neural Networks

    - by user280454
    Hi, I'm a newbie to the world of ANN. I'm aware of the Gradient Desecent Rule and the Backpropagation Theorem. What I don't get is , when is using a bias important? For example, when mapping the AND function, when i use 2 inputs and 1 output, it does not give the correct weights, however , when i use 3 inputs(1 of which is a bias), it gives the correct weights.

  • Flash (ActionScript 3): how to build a remoting application

    - by Lothar
    Hi, I'm looking for examples (code) of applications that uses Flash (NOT Flex) and Remoting classes for ActionScript 3 (NetConnection). Once there was ARP, a repository of code of this kind, but it seems there is not anymore. I'm trying to figure out how to build an applications that makes heavy use of calls to WebORB and responders. I need an architect point of view, NOT a sample of communication between parts, but a real world scenario.

  • Why Illegal cookies are send by Browser and received by web servers (rfc2109)?

    - by Artyom
    Hello, According to RFC 2109 cookie's value can be either HTTP token or quoted string, and token can't include non-ASCII characters. Cookie's RFC 2109: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2109#page-3 HTTP's RFC 2068 token definition: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2068#page-16 However I had found that Firefox browser (3.0.6) sends cookies with utf-8 string as-is and three web servers I tested (apache2, lighttpd, nginx) pass this string as-is to the application. For example, raw request from browser: $ nc -l -p 8080 GET /hello HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost:8080 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009050519 Firefox/2.0.0.13 (Debian-3.0.6-1) Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: windows-1255,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 300 Connection: keep-alive Cookie: wikipp=1234; wikipp_username=?????? Cache-Control: max-age=0 And raw response of apache, nginx and lighttpd HTTP_COOKIE CGI variable: wikipp=1234; wikipp_username=?????? What do I miss? Can somebody explain me?

  • Good examples of .NET (C#) open source projects ported to Java?

    - by JasDev
    I notice several well-known projects in java that were ported to C# .NET. Some examples: Hibernate - NHibernate JUnit -- NUnit Ant -- NAnt Lucene -- Lucene.Net, NLucene iText -- iTextSharp log4j -- log4net Quartz -- Quartz.NET I was curious about the reverse situation: what are the notable .NET projects that have been ported to the java world? I looked at the list of projects at http://csharp-source.net but didn't see any obvious ones.

  • How do you tell if two wildcards overlap?

    - by Tom Ritter
    Given two strings with * wildcards, I would like to know if a string could be created that would match both. For example, these two are a simple case of overlap: Hello*World Hel* But so are all of these: *.csv reports*.csv reportsdump.csv Is there an algorithm published for doing this? Or perhaps a utility function in Windows or a library I might be able to call or copy?

  • PHP's openssl_sign generates different signature than SSCrypto's sign

    - by pascalj
    I'm writing an OS X client for a software that is written in PHP. This software uses a simple RPC interface to receive and execute commands. The RPC client has to sign the commands he sends to ensure that no MITM can modify any of them. However, as the server was not accepting the signatures I sent from my OS X client, I started investigating and found out that PHP's openssl_sign function generates a different signature for a given private key/data combination than the Objective-C SSCrypto framework (which is only a wrapper for the openssl lib): SSCrypto *crypto = [[SSCrypto alloc] initWithPrivateKey:self.localPrivKey]; NSData *shaed = [self sha1:@"hello"]; [crypto setClearTextWithData:shaed]; NSData *data = [crypto sign]; generates a signature like CtbkSxvqNZ+mAN... The PHP code openssl_sign("hello", $signature, $privateKey); generates a signature like 6u0d2qjFiMbZ+... (For my certain key, of course. base64 encoded) I'm not quite shure why this is happening and I unsuccessfully experimented with different hash-algorithms. As the PHP documentation states SHA1 is used by default. So why do these two functions generate different signatures and how can I get my Objective-C part to generate a signature that PHPs openssl_verify will accept? Note: I double checked that the keys and the data is correct!

  • Creating a simple command line interface (CLI) using a python server (TCP sock) and few scripts

    - by VN44CA
    I have a Linux box and I want to be able to telnet into it (port 77557) and run few required commands without having to access to the whole Linux box. So, I have a server listening on that port, and echos the entered command on the screen. (for now) Telnet 192.168.1.100 77557 Trying 192.168.1.100... Connected to 192.168.1.100. Escape character is '^]'. hello<br /> You typed: "hello"<br /> NOW: I want to create lot of commands that each take some args and have error codes. Anyone has done this before? It would be great if I can have the server upon initialization go through each directory and execute the init.py file and in turn, the init.py file of each command call into a main template lib API (e.g. RegisterMe()) and register themselves with the server as function call backs. At least this is how I would do it in C/C++. But I want the best Pythonic way of doing this. /cmd/ /cmd/myreboot/ /cmd/myreboot/ini.py (note underscore don't show for some reason) /cmd/mylist/ /cmd/mylist/init.py ... etc IN: /cmd/myreboot/_ini_.py: from myMainCommand import RegisterMe RegisterMe(name="reboot",args=Arglist, usage="Use this to reboot the box", desc="blabla") So, repeating this creates a list of commands and when you enter the command in the telnet session, then the server goes through the list, matches the command and passed the args to that command and the command does the job and print the success or failure to stdout. Thx

  • How many times can you randomly generate a GUID before you risk duplicates? (.NET)

    - by SLC
    Mathematically I suppose it's possible that even two random GUIDs generated using the built in method in the .NET framework are identical, but roughly how likely are they to clash if you generate hundreds or thousands? If you generated one for every copy of Windows in the world, would they clash? The reason I ask is because I have a program that creates a lot of objects, and destroys some too, and I am wondering about the likelihood of any of those objects (including the destroyed ones) having identical GUIDs.

  • iPhone Application Deploy without using iTunes

    - by Paulo Correia
    I want to build an application for the iPhone to be used inside a customer enterprise (very small, only 5 to 10 devices). But since they will be paying the application development, I don't want to distribute that application to the world inside the App Store in iTunes. How can I distribute this app to my customer? Should I get the Enterprise level subscription from the Apple Developer Program? Since I work as a freelancer, I think I can't subscribe to that program.

  • How do I Store / Access Translations Efficiently?

    - by Gilbert
    I am trying to translate some of the phrases of my website into various languages. so, in my database, I have a table with rows of ID//text//dest_language//text_in_dest_language At the moment, I retreive each translation one by one: get text_in_dest_language where text="Hello World" and dest_languge="zh" This results in 40-50 db calls per page, which, on the app engine, is rather slow. What can I do to mitigate this slowdown?

  • Why do techs recommend YUM installs yet repositories and providers are ages behind?

    - by JM4
    I have been reading page after page after page about the benefits of using YUM package installer and how NOBODY should built installs from source files (which again makes no sense to me) yet the repositories and source builders always package files in Tarball format, leaving a TON of work (which usually ends up going wrong) to the individual instead of formatting SRPMs for the end user. Has the world gone mad? I feel like I am taking crazy pills!
