  • Reading same file from multiple threads in C#

    Hi. I was googling for some advise about this and I found some links. The most obvious was this one but in the end what im wondering is how well my code is implemented. I have basically two classes. One is the Converter and the other is ConverterThread I create an instance of this Converter class that has a property ThreadNumber that tells me how many threads should be run at the same time (this is read from user) since this application will be used on multi-cpu systems (physically, like 8 cpu) so it is suppossed that this will speed up the import The Converter instance reads a file that can range from 100mb to 800mb and each line of this file is a tab-delimitted value record that is imported to another destination like a database. The ConverterThread class simply runs inside the thread (new Thread(ConverterThread.StartThread)) and has event notification so when its work is done it can notify the Converter class and then I can sum up the progress for all these threads and notify the user (in the GUI for example) about how many of these records have been imported and how many bytes have been read. It seems, however that I'm having some trouble because I get random errors about the file not being able to be read or that the sum of the progress (percentage) went above 100% which is not possible and I think that happens because threads are not being well managed and probably the information returned by the event is malformed (since it "travels" from one thread to another) Do you have any advise on better practices of implementation of threads so I can accomplish this?   • Xcode preferences across multiple computers?

    I run Xcode on both my laptop and desktop. I'm constantly tweaking my setup with regards to key bindings. Rather than try to get both configurations identical by hand, is there any way to create the configuration on one computer and then share it via dropbox (for example) for the other to use? Perhaps by symlinking the laptop's configuration file to one stored on dropbox? Very curious how others handle this situation.

  • Avoid duplicate custom post type posts in multiple loops in Wordpress

    I am running two loops with a custom post type of Portfolio (ID of 3). The first loop is for Featured and the second is for the rest. I plan on having more than 3 Featured posts in random order. I would like to have the Featured ones that aren't displaying in the first loop to show up in my second loop.     I'm atempting to learn xerces-c and was following this tutorial online. http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/XML-Xerces-C.html I was able to get the tutorial to compile and run through a memory checker (valgrind) with no problems however when I made alterations to the program slightly, the memory checker returned some potential leak bytes.     Regular expressions have always been my pet peeves. Every time I think that I finally got it I have a new problem ! I want to catch url like this : http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla-1/bla-bla2/99/104 http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla1/99 and eventually : http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla-1/bla-bla2/product1/99/104/55/ after a lot of tries and errors I came up with this which seems to work with http://www.gskinner.com/RegExr/ but not in apache ^.*/boutique/([a-zA-Z-]*)(/?[a-zA-Z-]*)/?([0-9]*)/?([0-9]*)/?$ boutique.php?c1=$3&c2=$4 (I was only working with the first two url so far) MY apache rewrite log debug files are helpless : pass through /Users/iko/Sites/mysite/boutique.php I'm only interrested in getting the ids. If I remove the custom route, it calls my function, but what I want to be displayed in the address bar is: localhost:xxxx/Wizard/1 where the number at the end is the page (div shown) of the wizard either 1, 2, 3, or 4. So is there something I'm missing or can it not be done? Thanks.

But I'm not talking about splitting tables for the same entity (like user for example) Suppose I have a huge options table that stores list options like Gender, Marital Status, and many more domain specific groups with same structure. I plan to capture in a OPTIONS table. Another simple option is to have the field set as ENUM, but there are disadvantages of that as well. http://www.brandonsavage.net/why-you-should-replace-enum-with-something-else/ OPTIONS Table: option_id <will be referred instead of the name> name value group Query: select .. from options where group = '15' - Since this table is expected to be multi-tenant, the no of rows could grow drastically. - I believe splitting the tables instead of finding by the group would be easier to write & faster to execute. - or perhaps partitioning by the group or tenant?     Hi, I have an NSArray of NSDictionary objects which I would like to be able to return a new array of NSDictionaries from, where every NSDictionary has "Area == North" (for example). The closest example I have found so far is http://stackoverflow.com/questions/958622/using-nspredicate-to-filter-an-nsarray-based-on-nsdictionary-keys but this just returns the unique values for a given key, not the dictionary that has that key. Is there any way to perform a similar operation, and to return the entire dictionary?

    I'm experimenting with using noir to start three servers (each to handle a different aspect of the application). I am trying to do this so that I can run all three servers within one application while developing and easily decouple the project into three different applications for deployment. It is no problem to use noir.server/start and noir.server/stop to run the jetty servers I need. What I'm trying to figure out is some way to call load-views (or something like that) with a different set views for each server so that URI conflicts are handled by the correct defpage.

    Currently all web apps are deployed using seperate config files: <!-- <import bean.... production/> --> <import bean... development/> This has disadvantages, even if you only need to swap out one config file, that I'm sure everyone is familiar with (wondering what just deployed without searching through XML is one of them) I want to add Logging to my application that basically says 'RUNNING IN PRODUCTION MODE', with a description of the services deployed and what mode they are working in. RUNNING IN PRODUCTION MODE Client Service - Production Messaging Service - Local and so on... Is this possible in Spring using a conventional deployment (putting a war on a server)? What other things do people do to manage deployments and software configurations? If not, what other ways could you achieve something similar?

  • Spring aop multiple pointcuts & advice but only the last one is working

    I have created two Spring AOP pointcuts that are completely separate and will be woven in for different parts of the system. The pointcuts are used in two different around advices, these around-advices will point to the same Java method. How the xml-file looks: <aop:config> <aop:pointcut expression="execution(......)" id="pointcutOne" /> <aop:pointcut expression="execution(.....)" id="pointcurTwo" /> <aop:aspect id="..." ref="springBean"> <aop:around pointcut-ref="pointcutOne" method="commonMethod" /> <aop:aroung pointcut-ref="pointcutTwo" method="commonMethod" /> </aop:aspect> </aop:config> The problem is that only the last pointcut works (if I change the order "pointcutOne" works because it is last). I have gotten it to work by creating one big pointcut, but I would like to have them separate. Any suggestions to why only one of the pointcuts works at a time?
