• Using an empty keystore password used to be possible?

  When signing an apk after a long break from Android development I was surprised that I'm no longer able to enter an empty keystore password to unlock it. Is it just me or has this been possible before? If so, when did that change and how can I manage to unlock the keystore anyway? Some background: maybe I'm just crazy and didn't use an empty password for the keystore before, but the one and only possible password that I could have been using instead doesn't work either (I swear, there's no chance I'd have used another password!).

  i have a single sql database in sql server express. i have a login MAINLOGIN, for this database. i want insertion of data in this database through multiple users, U1,U2,U3, each having different userids & passwords. These users would be created by MAINLOGIN , manually or via the winform application. So while creating MAINLOGIN , i would give him permission to further create logins. For this what should i do? i cannot create MULTIPLE users, because for one database, only one user can be created under one login. so should i create multiple logins, L1,L2,L3, then map, U1, U2, U3 to them. Or, is there a better way to do this? like application roles etc. i dont want to use windows authentication. because if i know the system password, then i could simply connect sql via the application and insert wrong data.

  I have a RESTful API containing a URI of /UserService/Register. /UserService/Register takes an XML request such as: <UserRegistrationRequest> <Password>password</Password> <Profile> <User> <UserName>username</UserName> </User> </Profile> </UserRegistrationRequest> I have the following questions given the above scenario: Is there a way (using C# and .Net 3.5+) of enforcing/validating that clients calling Register are passing a hashed password rather than plaintext? Is leaving the choice of hashing algorithm to be used to the client a good idea? We could provide a second URI of /UserService/ComputePasswordHash which the client would call before calling /UserService/Register. This has the benefit of ensuring that each password is hashed using the same algorithm. Is there a mechanism within REST to ensure that a client has called one URI before calling another? Hope I've explained myself ok. Many thanks in advance for any help.

  Can someone tell me how to set file permissions in Delphi 2006? I am using TINIFile.Create to create INI files in my application. The problem is that if I create the file while logged onto Windows as an administrator and then try to run the application as just a standard user and overwrite the INI file, I do not have permission to do so. I put the file in the AllUsers\ApplicationData\MyProduct folder. I'd like to set the permissions to this folder. I need AllUsers to have Full permissions to the MyProduct folder. If its possible to do this through a WindowsAPI that'd be great because I also need to do this in C++ and C#. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

  We are currently working on simple school project using Codeigniter where we need login page. It would be very useful if Lastpass could recognise and save logins. We have several accounts with different roles and manual insert of login is pretty slow. So I was wondering what needs to be done and where in files (view, controller?) for Lastpass to work as it does on every website.   Hello Experts, Developing using MVC-3, Razor, C# Been searching around and cannot find advice I'm looking for. My site will contain user-uploaded images (possibly a high number). What is the best practice for managing these pictures (placement, breakdown into sub-folders, etc...)? Where do I place them that will prevent them from getting accidentally blown away if I republish my site periodically? If there are any good articles or blog posts, that would be helpful. The current process is to run through a manual script and record how long certain processes take to populate data, it may populate a datagrid, a tree, a list box, etc... It will also need to be able record how long it takes to generate a pdf report. We do not require extremely accurate time just to the nearest second or less than a second. I need to know if there is a simple Automated testing product that will handle the above criteria.

  I had a discussion today regarding an Oracle procedure I wrote some time ago. I wanted to get 7500 user email addresses from Active Directory using PL/SQL. AD will return a maximum of 1000 rows and the LDAP provider used by Oracle will not support paging. Therefore, my solution was to filter on the last two characters of the sAMAccountName (*00,*01,*02...etc.). This results in 126 queries (100 for account names ending in digits, 26 for those ending in a letter...this was sufficient for my AD setup). The person I was speaking to (it was a job interview by the way) said he could have done it a better way, but he would not tell me what that method was. Could anybody hazard a guess at what this method was?

  An outside company is redoing our company Intranet. During some basic usage I disovered that the "User Edit" screens, with the "Password: *" boxes have the password in plain text, with the text box "type=password" to "hide" the password. The passwords are not store in the database as plain text, they are stored encrypted using "rijndael-256" cypher using the mcrypt module. I know that if I encrypt a password with SHA*, the password is "Unrecoverable" via one-way encryption. Is the same of MCrypt Rijndael-256 encryption? Shouldn't an encrypted password be un-recoverable? Are they blowing smoke up my rear or just using the wrong technology?

  Android 2.1 (not sure how much that matters) My test hardware is a Motorola Droid (not sure how much that matters either) I want to push a bookmark/internet-shortcut to a user's home screen as a result of them clicking on a link - via their browser of choice. I know they can usually set the bookmark themselves and then choose to put it on their home screen. But I'd like to provide a link like "Put a shortcut to this page on your home screen" that takes care of everything kind of in the background/underneath. Is this even possible? What parts of the framework would I need access to to make it happen?

  In my application i am constantly moving from one control to another. I have created no. of user controls, but during navigation my controls gets flicker. it takes 1 or 2 sec to update. I tried to set this SetStyle(ControlStyles.OptimizedDoubleBuffer, true); or SetStyle(ControlStyles.UserPaint, true); SetStyle(ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint, true); SetStyle(ControlStyles.DoubleBuffer, true); but it didn't help... • How to recover Wordpress on GoDaddy hosting after reseting database password? [migrated]

  I did reset my database password, so I could enter the phpMyAdmin, but now my Wordpress installation can't connect to the database. I tried to access the "wp-config.php" (should be at http://mysite.com/wp-config.php right?) but, again, I get the "can't connect to database" message. Also, now when I try to access the file manager on the GoDaddy hosting, I get "The page isn't redirecting properly". I did e-mail the GoDaddy support, and I'm researching while they do not answer. Not sure if it's a GoDaddy or Wordpress issue. Is there any way to fix Wordpress, or I'll need to re-install it?

• VB.NET custom user control graphics rotation

  Hi, this is my first question on here. I'm trying to build a dial control as a custom user control in VB.NET. I'm using VS2008. so far I have managed to rotate image using graphics.rotatetransform . however, this rotate everything. Now I have a Bitmap for the dial which should stay stable and another Bitmap for the needle which I need to rotate. so far i've tried this: Dim gL As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(bmpLongNeedle) gL.TranslateTransform(bmpLongNeedle.Width / 2, bmpLongNeedle.Height * 0.74) gL.RotateTransform(angleLongNeedle) gL.TranslateTransform(-bmpLongNeedle.Width / 2, -bmpLongNeedle.Height * 0.74) gL.DrawImage(bmpLongNeedle, 0, 0) As I understand it, the image of the needle should be rotated at angle "angleLongNeedle" although i'm placing the rotated image at 0,0. • dropping user to IRB after reading from pipe

  I have this script that drops the user to an IRB session when executed. All good, but when I use *nix pipes to get the input (e.g. with cat), the IRB session ends immediately. I could reduce the script (let's call it myscript.rb) to the following: require 'irb' if $stdin.stat.size 0 @text = $stdin.read else @text= "nothing" end ARGV.clear IRB.start When executed like: ruby myscript.rb, I end up in the IRB session (as expected). But (assuming foo.txt exists in the cwd): cat foo.txt | ruby myscript.rb will just print the IRB prompt and then the IRB session is closed (I'm being dropped to $bash). Any known workarounds or ideas? BTW: it has the same behavior on ruby 1.8.7 as well as on 1.9.2.
