  • MySQL Throws NullReferenceException in Finalize... How are you coping with this?

    I am using MySQL with the .Net connector on 64 bit Windows. For some reason Mysql is throwing a NullReferenceException in Finalize. This is the problem here and it seems that its due to a bug described here. This bug was reported in 6.22, but I am getting the issue with 6.23 too so apparently it is not fixed. I am using MySQL both with the helper classes, and by instantiating the connection and the Mysqlcommand object. Does anybody have any idea what part of my code do I need to change to fix this issue? Cause even though this is a bug in Mysql this is not universal because I am not getting the problem in my other projects. MySQL bug report has no details on how to reproduce it either. Any suggestions?

    THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. I DUNNO HOW TO CLOSE THIS QUESTION. ANOTHER SERVICE IS PROPABLY RUNNING AT ALMOST SAME SYNC THAT DOES THE THING. MY WORK "MATE" WILL HEAR A THING OR TWO IN THE MORNING.     What is the best way to define connection string for a web application that has minimum 500 live users on the internet in terms of connection pooling. And load factors to consider? Suppose I have connection string as follows: initial catalog=Northwind; Min Pool Size=20;Max Pool Size=500; data source=localhost; Connection Timeout=30; Integrated security=sspi" as Max Pool Size is 500 and as live users exceed 500 say 520 will the remaining 20 users experience slower page load?? Or what if I have connection string as follows which doesn't talks anything about pooling or Connection time out? How the application behaves then? initial catalog=Northwind; data source=localhost; Integrated security=sspi" I'm using "Using statements" however to access the MYSQL database.

  • What is the best way to maintain an entity's original properties when they are not included in MVC binding from edit page?

    I have an ASP.NET MVC view for editing a model object. The edit page includes most of the properties of my object but not all of them -- specifically it does not include CreatedOn and CreatedBy fields since those are set upon creation (in my service layer) and shouldn't change in the future. Unless I include these properties as hidden fields they will not be picked up during Binding and are unavailable when I save the modified object in my EF 4 DB Context. In actuality, upon save the original values would be overwritten by nulls (or some type-specific default). I don't want to drop these in as hidden fields because it is a waste of bytes and I don't want those values exposed to potential manipulation. Is there a "first class" way to handle this situation? Is it possible to specify a EF Model property is to be ignored unless explicitly set?

  • WCF data services - Limiting related objects returned based on critera

    I have an object graph consisting of a base employee object, and a set of related message objects. I am able to return the employee objects based on search criteria on the employee properties (eg team) etc. However, if I expand on the messages, I get the full collection of messages back. I would like to be able to either take the top n messages (i.e. restrict to 10 most recent) or ideally use a date range on the message objects to limit how many are brought back. So far I have not been able to figure out a way of doing this: I get an error if I attempt to filter on properties on the message (&$filter=employee/message/StartDate gives an error "No property 'StartDate' exists in type 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityCollection`1). Attempting to use Top on the message related object doesn't work either. I have also tried using a WebGet extension that takes a string list of employee IDs. That works until the list gets too long, and then fails due to the URL getting too long (it might be possible to setup a paging mechanism on this approach)... Unfortunately the UI control I am using requires the data to be in a fairly specific hierarchical shape, so I can't easily come at this from starting on the message side and working backwards. Outside of making multiple calls does anyone know of a method to accomplish this with wcf data services? Thanks! M.

Instead of retrieving the entire table, I am retrieving only one record using the following statement :- select * from Products where ProductID=3 Now I wanted to update dataset directly in to DB by using following statements (DAP 4.1) db.UpdateDataSet(ds, ds.Tables[0].TableName, null, cmdupdate, null, UpdateBehavior.Standard); Questions Can I Retrieve only one row from DB while a lot of other records are there and update back using Adapter update? ( In other words, I am not selecting all records from table) I am using Data Application Block 4.1? It will work there right? If anyone can give example for update will be great ( with Procedures). Right now they are all DataTables, which isn't very space efficient (the rule of thumb is 10x increase in size when data is strored in a dataset). Old Code DataTable table = dataAccess.GetDataTable(); dropDownList.DataSource = table; Hoped for new Code Unknown data = dataAccess.GetSomethingMoreSpaceEfficient(); dropDownList.DataSource = data; What pre-existing datastructures are similar enough to DataTable that would minimize code breakage and reduce the serialized size when stored in ASP.NET cache?

  • Inefficient 'ANY' LINQ clause

    I have a query that pulls back a user's "feed" which is essentially all of their activity. If the user is logged in the query will be filtered so that the feed not only includes all of the specified user's data, but also any of their friends. The database structure includes an Actions table that holds the user that created the action and a UserFriends table which holds any pairing of friends using a FrienderId and FriendeeId column which map to UserIds. I have set up my LINQ query and it works fine to pull back the data I want, however, I noticed that the query gets turned into X number of CASE clauses in profiler where X is the number of total Actions in the database. This will obviously be horrible when the database has a user base larger than just me and 3 test users. Here's the SQL query I'm trying to achieve: select * from [Action] a where a.UserId = 'GUID' OR a.UserId in (SELECT FriendeeId from UserFriends uf where uf.FrienderId = 'GUID') OR a.UserId in (SELECT FrienderId from UserFriends uf where uf.FriendeeId = 'GUID') This is what I currently have as my LINQ query. feed = feed.Where(o => o.User.UserKey == user.UserKey || db.Users.Any(u => u.UserFriends.Any(ufr => ufr.Friender.UserKey == user.UserKey && ufr.isApproved) || db.Users.Any(u2 => u2.UserFriends.Any(ufr => ufr.Friendee.UserKey == user.UserKey && ufr.isApproved) ))); This query creates this: http://pastebin.com/UQhT90wh That shows up X times in the profile trace, once for each Action in the table. What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to clean this up?

  • List of SQL Server errors that should be retried?

    Is there a concise list of SQL Server stored procedure errors that make sense to automatically retry? Obviously, retrying a "login failed" error doesn't make sense, but retrying "timeout" does. I'm thinking it might be easier to specify which errors to retry than to specify which errors not to retry. So, besides "timeout" errors, what other errors would be good candidates for automatic retrying? Thanks!

    I'm just learning the WCF entity framework (and .net in general), and I'm running into a problem specifying lock hints in an embedded SQL query. I'm trying to specify a query that has lock hints in it (e.g., "SELECT * FROM xyz WITH(XLOCK, ROWLOCK)") and I keep getting errors from the runtime that the query syntax is not valid. The query works if I enter it directly into SQL Server. Is there some special syntax for lock hints when creating IQueryable result sets, or do I have to somehow mess with the transaction isolation level (probably not possible, as I need to specify different lock hints on a subquery within the main query).

  • 398 row datalist slowing down modal open????

    Hey guys I got a weird issue.. I have a datalist that's only loaded on pageload it contains 2 columns a name and date and has 398 rows.. In IE 7 and above(and prob previous version) when I open a modal via a button click it takes almost 5 seconds to open. HOWEVER, if I do not bind this datalist it's MUCH faster.. Also this is only happening in IE, Chrome, Firefox and opera both open the modal instantly with the datalist binded... Josh

  • Accessing FILESTREAM from an SQL CLR assembly

    I'm trying to stream FILESTREAM data from an unsafe SQL CLR assembly. The connection string is Data Source=LAPTOP2\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=test;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False When creating a new SqlFileStream (inside a SqlTransaction, of course), I'm getting: The request is not supported at OpenSqlFilestream. So I decided to try native OpenSqlFilestream, but then I'm getting an invalid handle (-1) while GetLastWin32Error returns that same: The request is not supported (ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED). I have also tried SqlContext.WindowsIdentity.Impersonate() with no apparent effect. I couldn't find any documentation referencing this restriction. Is it really unsupported? If it is unsupported, is there a good reason? Does anyone know of a workaround?
