  • Can anyone list some real examples of 'HTML5' being used in the wild?

    I am using HTML5 in the same way everyone seems to be using it these days, meaning: HTML5 tags, Canvas / 3D / javascript and CSS3. I am struggling to find examples of sites that are using these technologies practically and that are not just a demo of something cool someone has managed to do using Canvas or CSS3 transforms or shapes. I am looking for sites that have a nice visual look but also take advantage of things like animation, scrolling and offset à la Silverback or the Canvas to create an interactive and I guess 'Flash-looking' site.   • Looking for feedback on design pattern for simple 2D environment

    I'm working in iOS. I am trying to make a very simple 2D environment where there are some basic shapes you can drag around with your finger. These shapes should interact in various ways when dropped on each other, or when single-tapped versus double-tapped, etc. I don't know the name for the design pattern I'm thinking of. Basically, you have a bunch of arrays named after attributes, such as "double-tappable" or "draggable" or "stackable". You assign these attributes to the shapes by putting the shapes in the arrays. So, if there's a double-tap event, the code gets the location of it, then iterates through the "double-tappable" array to see if any of its members are in that location. And so on: every interactive event causes a scan through the appropriate array or arrays. It seems like that should work, but I'm wondering if there's a better pattern for the purpose.

  • Is there any Google Adsense revenue if a visitor rolls over (hovers) on an ad unit?

    I have noticed an increase in interactive flash animations especilly on 300px wide adsense ads. Many of them ask the visitor to rollover to either reveal what the ad is about, show a clip, etc. So I wonder: the visitor is giving attention to this ad, is viewing its message -- without clicking on it. In essence, the ad agency's objective is accomplished without a click, which would be a significant money saver if PPC is considered. This seems very ingenious on their part, and I wonder how this is handled by Google. Shouldn't there be a fee for a publisher if visitors interact with ads, regardless of clicks? CTR becomes irrelevant in this context. Are you aware of anything being discussed in this respect?

  • how to get bash to stop escaping $ during tab-completion?

    I have this on the command line: ln -sf $PWD/wine- and then I hit tab to complete the filename. In earlier versions of Ubuntu, this worked just fine to complete the wine- filename (and as a side-effect $PWD would be expanded at that time). But now it turns it in to ln -sf \$PWD/wine- which isn't what I meant at all and doesn't complete anything as the file does not literally start with $. How do I get completion back to the less broken behaviour? set tells me these are my current settings: BASHOPTS=checkwinsize:cmdhist:expand_aliases:extquote:force_fignore:hostcomplete:interactive_comments:progcomp:promptvars:sourcepath SHELLOPTS=braceexpand:emacs:hashall:histexpand:history:interactive-comments:monitor

    I'm trying to compile this function from Learn You a Haskell for Great Good. removeNonUppercase st = [ c | c <- st, c `elem` ['A'..'Z']] by placing it into a removeNonUpperCase.hs file. It compiles fine, but when passing the argument: ghci> removeNonUppercase "Hahaha! Ahahaha!" the compiler says: <interactive>:1:0: Not in scope: 'removeNonUpperCase' Why?

Is it more secure to use asp.net controls or does not matter.     I have a messages line this: message 1 answer 1.1 answer 1.1.1 answer 1.2 answer 1.3 massage 2 ... and I have the line in my .gnus.el: (global-set-key [f9] (lambda () (interactive) (gnus-summary-lower-score-by-subj-substr-temp))) When I select "message 1" and press F9 next lines: message1 answer 1.1 answer 1.1.1 answer 1.2 answer 1.3 change the score. But I need the selection move to next message (message 2) when I press F9. How can I get it?

    Hello, I am developing a software using C# 2.0 which uses about 200MB of memory and occasionally high CPU. The problem is, when i am leaving my machine idle for about 20-30 mins with the application running, after i come back and try to use the application, it freezes for about 2 mins, then becomes interactive.     I love the GNU readline library, but since it is under a GPL license, I can not use it for commercial software. Do you know alternatives ? I only need the commandline history and auto completion (of customer keywords and files) features. I found this link : http://github.com/antirez/linenoise which seem to be a good starting point, but does not have auto completion. Any suggestions, surely this must be a common task for people building interactive shell commands.

    Does anybody have directions for getting Eclipse (Galileo), PyDev, and Virtualenv working together? I'm specifically trying to run Pinax but any instructions are fine. I thought I had it (and even blogged everything but the final step - interactive debugging) and still there is no solution. I'm specifically on OS X but any answer should be sufficient.
