  • How to make my running .NET application be able to receive commands while it is running?

    - by CSharpBeginner
How can I make my already running C# Windows Form Application be able to receive commands from the command line while it is already running? For example: if my application is playing a video now then I want to be able to type on the command line "MyApp /stop" so that while the application is still running it stops the playing the video without exiting from current session.

  • How does formatting works with a PowerShell function that returns a set of elements?

    - by Steve B
If I write this small function : function Foo { Get-Process | % { $_ } } And if I run Foo It displays only a small subset of properties: PS C:\Users\Administrator> foo Handles NPM(K) PM(K) WS(K) VM(M) CPU(s) Id ProcessName ------- ------ ----- ----- ----- ------ -- ----------- 86 10 1680 412 31 0,02 5916 alg 136 10 2772 2356 78 0,06 3684 atieclxx 123 7 1780 1040 33 0,03 668 atiesrxx ... ... But even if only 8 columns are shown, there are plenty of other properties (as foo | gm is showing). What is causing this function to show only this 8 properties? I'm actually trying to build a similar function that is returning complex objects from a 3rd party .Net library. The library is flatting a 2 level hierarchy of objects : function Actual { $someDotnetObject.ACollectionProperty.ASecondLevelCollection | % { $_ } } This method is dumping the objects in a list form (one line per property). How can I control what is displayed, keeping the actual object available? I have tried this : function Actual { $someDotnetObject.ACollectionProperty.ASecondLevelCollection | % { $_ } | format-table Property1, Property2 } It shows in a console the expected table : Property1 Property2 --------- --------- ValA ValD ValB ValE ValC ValF But I lost my objects. Running Get-Member on the result shows : TypeName: Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.FormatStartData Name MemberType Definition ---- ---------- ---------- Equals Method bool Equals(System.Object obj) GetHashCode Method int GetHashCode() GetType Method type GetType() ToString Method string ToString() autosizeInfo Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.AutosizeInfo autosizeInfo {get;set;} ClassId2e4f51ef21dd47e99d3c952918aff9cd Property System.String ClassId2e4f51ef21dd47e99d3c952918aff9cd {get;} groupingEntry Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.GroupingEntry groupingEntry {get;set;} pageFooterEntry Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.PageFooterEntry pageFooterEntry {get;set;} pageHeaderEntry Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.PageHeaderEntry pageHeaderEntry {get;set;} shapeInfo Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.ShapeInfo shapeInfo {get;set;} TypeName: Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.GroupStartData Name MemberType Definition ---- ---------- ---------- Equals Method bool Equals(System.Object obj) GetHashCode Method int GetHashCode() GetType Method type GetType() ToString Method string ToString() ClassId2e4f51ef21dd47e99d3c952918aff9cd Property System.String ClassId2e4f51ef21dd47e99d3c952918aff9cd {get;} groupingEntry Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.GroupingEntry groupingEntry {get;set;} shapeInfo Property Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.Internal.Format.ShapeInfo shapeInfo {get;set;} Instead of showing the 2nd level child object members. In this case, I can't pipe the result to functions waiting for this type of argument. How does Powershell is supposed to handle such scenario?

  • Can't seem to get C TCP Server-Client Communications Right

    - by Zeesponge
    Ok i need some serious help here. I have to make a TCP Server Client. When the Client connects to server using a three stage handshake. AFterwards... while the Client is running in the terminal, the user enters linux shell commands like xinput list, ls -1, ect... something that uses standard output. The server accepts the commands and uses system() (in a fork() in an infinite loop) to run the commands and the standard output is redirected to the client, where the client prints out each line. Afterward the server sends a completion signal of "\377\n". In which the client goes back to the command prompt asking for a new command and closes its connection and exit()'s when inputting "quit". I know that you have to dup2() both the STDOUT_FILENO and STDERR_FILENO to the clients file descriptor {dup2(client_FD, STDOUT_FILENO). Everything works accept when it comes for the client to retrieve system()'s stdout and printing it out... all i get is a blank line with a blinking cursor (client waiting on stdin). I tried all kinds of different routes with no avail... If anyone can help out i would greatly appreciate it TCP SERVER CODE include #include <sys/socket.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <signal.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <errno.h> //Prototype void handle_client(int connect_fd); int main() { int server_sockfd, client_sockfd; socklen_t server_len, client_len; struct sockaddr_in server_address; struct sockaddr_in client_address; server_sockfd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0); server_address.sin_family = AF_INET; server_address.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); server_address.sin_port = htons(9734); server_len = sizeof(server_address); bind(server_sockfd, (struct sockaddr *)&server_address, server_len); /* Create a connection queue, ignore child exit details and wait for clients. */ listen(server_sockfd, 10); signal(SIGCHLD, SIG_IGN); while(1) { printf("server waiting\n"); client_len = sizeof(client_address); client_sockfd = accept(server_sockfd, (struct sockaddr *)&client_address, &client_len); if(fork() == 0) handle_client(client_sockfd); else close(client_sockfd); } } void handle_client(int connect_fd) { const char* remsh = "<remsh>\n"; const char* ready = "<ready>\n"; const char* ok = "<ok>\n"; const char* command = "<command>\n"; const char* complete = "<\377\n"; const char* shared_secret = "<shapoopi>\n"; static char server_msg[201]; static char client_msg[201]; static char commands[201]; int sys_return; //memset client_msg, server_msg, commands memset(&client_msg, 0, sizeof(client_msg)); memset(&server_msg, 0, sizeof(client_msg)); memset(&commands, 0, sizeof(commands)); //read remsh from client read(connect_fd, &client_msg, 200); //check remsh validity from client if(strcmp(client_msg, remsh) != 0) { errno++; perror("Error Establishing Handshake"); close(connect_fd); exit(1); } //memset client_msg memset(&client_msg, 0, sizeof(client_msg)); //write remsh to client write(connect_fd, remsh, strlen(remsh)); //read shared_secret from client read(connect_fd, &client_msg, 200); //check shared_secret validity from client if(strcmp(client_msg, shared_secret) != 0) { errno++; perror("Invalid Security Passphrase"); write(connect_fd, "no", 2); close(connect_fd); exit(1); } //memset client_msg memset(&client_msg, 0, sizeof(client_msg)); //write ok to client write(connect_fd, ok, strlen(ok)); // dup2 STDOUT_FILENO <= client fd, STDERR_FILENO <= client fd dup2(connect_fd, STDOUT_FILENO); dup2(connect_fd, STDERR_FILENO); //begin while... while read (client_msg) from server and >0 while(read(connect_fd, &client_msg, 200) > 0) { //check command validity from client if(strcmp(client_msg, command) != 0) { errno++; perror("Error, unable to retrieve data"); close(connect_fd); exit(1); } //memset client_msg memset(&client_msg, 0, sizeof(client_msg)); //write ready to client write(connect_fd, ready, strlen(ready)); //read commands from client read(connect_fd, &commands, 200); //run commands using system( ) sys_return = system(commands); //check success of system( ) if(sys_return < 0) { perror("Invalid Commands"); errno++; } //memset commands memset(commands, 0, sizeof(commands)); //write complete to client write(connect_fd, complete, sizeof(complete)); } } TCP CLIENT CODE #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <arpa/inet.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <errno.h> #include "readline.c" int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int sockfd; int len; struct sockaddr_in address; int result; const char* remsh = "<remsh>\n"; const char* ready = "<ready>\n"; const char* ok = "<ok>\n"; const char* command = "<command>\n"; const char* complete = "<\377\n"; const char* shared_secret = "<shapoopi>\n"; static char server_msg[201]; static char client_msg[201]; memset(&client_msg, 0, sizeof(client_msg)); memset(&server_msg, 0, sizeof(server_msg)); /* Create a socket for the client. */ sockfd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0); /* Name the socket, as agreed with the server. */ memset(&address, 0, sizeof(address)); address.sin_family = AF_INET; address.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr(argv[1]); address.sin_port = htons(9734); len = sizeof(address); /* Now connect our socket to the server's socket. */ result = connect(sockfd, (struct sockaddr *)&address, len); if(result == -1) { perror("ACCESS DENIED"); exit(1); } //write remsh to server write(sockfd, remsh, strlen(remsh)); //read remsh from server read(sockfd, &server_msg, 200); //check remsh validity from server if(strcmp(server_msg, remsh) != 0) { errno++; perror("Error Establishing Initial Handshake"); close(sockfd); exit(1); } //memset server_msg memset(&server_msg, 0, sizeof(server_msg)); //write shared secret text to server write(sockfd, shared_secret, strlen(shared_secret)); //read ok from server read(sockfd, &server_msg, 200); //check ok velidity from server if(strcmp(server_msg, ok) != 0 ) { errno++; perror("Incorrect security phrase"); close(sockfd); exit(1); } //?   • How to correctly formalize the command line usage of GNU/Linux commands?

    - by Francesco Turco
I'd like to write down a BNF-like formal grammar for describing the command line usage of some GNU/Linux tools. For example I can describe the usage of the cat command as: (cat-command) : 'cat' (arguments-list) (arguments-list) : (argument) (arguments-list) : (arguments-list) (argument) (argument) : (file) The problem is I can't write down a precise grammar for some commands such as md5sum. My first attempt at that would be the following: (md5sum-command) : 'md5sum' (arguments-list) (arguments-list) : (argument) (arguments-list) : (arguments-list) (argument) (argument) : (file) (argument) : '--check' But as you can see this grammar allows you to specify the --check argument as many times as you wish, which is incorrect as you should use it at most one time. How can I fix that? Also, what kind of formal grammars I should study for better treating this kind of problems? Thanks.

  • How to feed data over STDIN to multiple external commands in ruby.

    - by Erik
This question is a bit like my previous (answered) question: How to run multiple external commands in the background in ruby. But, in this case I am looking for a way to feed ruby strings over STDIN to external processes, something like this (the code below is not valid but illustrates my goal): #!/usr/bin/ruby str1 = 'In reality a relatively large string.....' str2 = 'Another large string' str3 = 'etc..' spawn 'some_command.sh', :stdin => str1 spawn 'some_command.sh', :stdin => str2 spawn 'some_command.sh', :stdin => str3 Process.waitall

  • How do I redirect stdin/stdout when I have a sequence of commands in Bash?

    - by Tom
I've currently got a Bash command being executed (via Python's subprocess::Popen) which is reading from stdin, doing something and outputing to stdout. Something along the lines of: pid = subprocess.Popen( ["-c", "cmd1 | cmd2"], stdin = subprocess.PIPE, stdout = subprocess.PIPE, shell =True ) output_data = pid.communicate( "input data\n" ) Now, what I want to do is to change that to execute another command in that same subshell that will alter the state before the next commands execute, so my shell command line will now (conceptually) be: cmd0; cmd1 | cmd2 Is there any way to have the input sent to cmd1 instead of cmd0 in this scenario? I'm assuming the output will include cmd0's output (which will be empty) followed by cmd2's output. cmd0 shouldn't actually read anything from stdin, does that make a difference in this situation? I know this is probably just a dumb way of doing this, I'm trying to patch in cmd0 without altering the other code too significantly. That said, I'm open to suggestions if there's a much cleaner way to approach this.

  • Can I improve performance by refactoring SQL commands into classes?

    - by Matthew Jones
Currently, my entire website does updating from SQL parameterized queries. It works, we've had no problems with it, but it can occasionally be very slow. I was wondering if it makes sense to refactor some of these SQL commands into classes so that we would not have to hit the database so often. I understand hitting the database is generally the slowest part of any web application For example, say we have a class structure like this: Project (comprised of) Tasks (comprised of) Assignments Where Project, Task, and Assignment are classes. At certain points in the site you are only working on one project at a time, and so creating a Project class and passing it among pages (using Session, Profile, something else) might make sense. I imagine this class would have a Save() method to save value changes. Does it make sense to invest the time into doing this? Under what conditions might it be worth it?

  • How to open the command prompt and insert commands using Java?

    - by 404 Not Found
There have been a few other questions on here sort of like this, but none seem to have any answers. Is it possible to open the command prompt (and I guess any other terminal for other systems), and execute commands in the newly opened window? Currently what I have is this: Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime(); rt.exec(new String[]{"cmd.exe","/c","start"}); I've tried adding the next command after the "start", I've tried running another rt.exec containing my command, but I can't find a way to make it work. If it matters, I'm trying to run a command similar to this: java -flag -flag -cp terminal-based-program.jar

  • How can CMake be used to generate Makefiles with personalized commands?

    - by Rizo
I like to keep my Makefiles flexible and multifunctional. One of the tasks I usually add to make command is tar, for example the following instruction does the job: tar: tar -cvf $(PROGNAME).tar $(SRCS) Makefile My question is: How can CMake be used to generate personalized commands like tar? I would like to see some code samples. For the full functionality it would be useful to create project's components and be able to use them as parameters. (Exempli gratia: archive only header files or some specific library). Thanks in advance for your answers!

  • j2me: How to use setCommandListener on a TextField?

    - by SmRndGuy
I wanted to make it so that when I select a specific TextField in a Form, I get a specific list of Commands, for example TextField: OK, CancelTextField2: OK, Back, Help And I succeeded by using addCommand() on each of TextFields but I can't tell it what to happen when when I activate one of these commands since there is no setCommandListener method for them. It throws a NullPointerException when I click it.I also tried to get the commands from their Form but it is receiving only the commands that it contains, not the commands that TextFields have Any help how to get arround this? Thanks in advance

  • What are the common Linux commands for SAN-related activities? How do I check if a LUN is attached to the computer?

    - by Nishant
How do I check if a LUN has been presented to my server? What are the Linux commands for that? Do the LUNs show up in a fdisk -l command like a normal /dev/sda gets listed? What are other commands associated with general SAN related checks in Linux? What is WWN and how does that have any relevance? If we have LUNs, what is the use of multipathing? Bit lengthy but I am not able to get a grasp on the topic. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Create a Customized Tab on the Office 2010 Ribbon

    - by Mysticgeek
Some MS Office users were put off a bit by the Ribbon feature in 2007 for being cumbersome and confusing. Today we look at a cool new feature in Office 2010 that allows you to create your own custom tabs with specific commands for easier document creation. Create a Customized Tab In our example we’re using Word, but you can create a custom tab in the other Office apps as well. To do so, right-click on the Ribbon and select Customize the Ribbon. The Word Options screen opens up and from here you can manage a lot of customization options. We want to create a new customized tab, so click on the New Tab button.   Now give it a name… Now just drag the commands you want to add from the left column over to your new custom group. You have every command available to choose from. You can select specific groups or all commands from the dropdown menu on the left. That is all there is to it…now you have your own customized tab with the commands you use most often to help you work more efficiently. In this example We didn’t add a whole lot of commands, but you can customize it with as many as you need. You can also create other tabs with different sets of commands too. When you create a customized tab in one application, it’s only going to be in that app. For example if you create on in Word, it’s not going to show in Excel as commands differ between apps. If you want a custom tab in another Office app you’ll need to create one for it. Another very cool thing you can do is export the customizations to use on another machine or pass them to a coworker. To export the customizations, go to the Customize Ribbon section and at the bottom of the right field click Import/Export then Export all customizations. Then save the file to a location on your hard drive.   To import the settings to another machine, go into Ribbon Customizations and select Import customizations file… then browse the the file you exported. You’ll be prompted to confirm you want to import he customizations… After confirming the choice now you’ll see the customization show up on the other machine. This is very handy if you work on several machines throughout the day and want to easily bring your customized tabs with you. If you find yourself using a lot of specific commands throughout the day, creating your own customized tab will help access them more quickly. If you want to test out Office 2010 it’s currently in Public Beta and can be downloaded for free. • Can I run AD commands from a standard PowerShell script?

    - by Ben
I am putting together a script to run post-sysprep. It should check if the machine is on the network, and if it is then it should query AD to see if a computer account exists with it's service tag (we're using these as the hostnames of the machines.) If it does exist, it should delete the account and rejoin the machine to the domain. I have got the majority of the script running, but need to run the following: Remove-ADComputer -Identity $distinguishedName How can I run this from the "standard" powershell environment? I don't want to use the AD module. (By the way - I'm on a mixed mode 2000/03 domain as we are in the process of upgrading to 2008) I'm new to PowerShell so be gentle if I'm completely missing the point! Thanks, Ben

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks. the following powershell script lists all the email aliases I have for a single mailbox. >$mbx = Get-Mailbox myuser >$mbx.EmailAddresses and that lists all the addresses. eg. SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : SMTP:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : True PrefixString : SMTP Now to add a new email address, I do the following poweshell command :- $mbx.EmailAddresses += "myEmailAddress.com" $mbx | Set-Mailbox So i'm not sure how i can use the foreach to remove each address? I tried:- @mbx.EmailAddresses | foreach { $mbx.EmailAddresses -= $._SmtpAddress } and that failed miserably. That's my first attempt of PS script, ever :P Can anyone help?

If I enter ~. to kill ssh, it kills the ssh session from my laptop to Wallace, because the ~ is intercepted by that ssh session, and the . is taken as a command to kill the session. How do I send a command to the ssh session between Wallace and Gromit? How do I kill my "inner" ssh?

Is there a clever way to do copy and move operations or a command to duplicate a file, without having to do a cd, then mv after, at the same folder? For example, I have to run the following: mv /folder1/folder2/folder3/file.txt /folder1/folder2/folder3/file-2013.txt Note that the directory to where I'm moving the file is the same, but I have to put the whole path again and sometimes it gets annoying. I'm curious to know if there's another way to do that without having to put the whole path again, because the operation would be done in the same path.

  • How to view history of Yum commands (update, install, remove)?

    - by Chris
I'm seeing some errors in my apache logs and they may (or may not) be related to some packages that I recently installed/removed using Yum. Is there a way to view the history of Yum packages that have been updated/installed/removed ? I could use the "history" command from unix, but some installations may have been done with different accounts. I've tried searching the web and reading the man page too but haven't found anything.

  • How to make Microsoft Keyboard special keys run osascript commands on OS X?

    - by t-a-w
I'm trying to make (1) special key open new terminal window. I bound it to file /Users/taw/bin/new_term, which contains: #!/bin/sh exec osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to do script "cd ."' This does the trick, except it also opens a Terminal window with this (even though Terminal.app is configured to always close windows when processes finish): Last login: Thu Mar 11 19:41:29 on ttys000 /Users/taw/bin/new_term ; exit; ~$ /Users/taw/bin/new_term ; exit; tab 1 logout [Process completed] How do I make it all work correctly? (possibly using a way different that what I've been attempting so far)
