• Installed nvidia graphics driver (current, 8800GTX) has issues, how do I disable/uninstall it?

  I installed the restricted nvidia graphics driver (current) on my computer, then restarted to finish the install. Upon reboot I got some prompt about there being an X server problem, It told me to try auto-fixing or something, none of its options worked, they all failed horribly and caused the computer to crash immediately on selecting any of them. I decided to re-install. Again I got in, downloaded updates, and installed the driver. This time upon boot the X-server immediately crashes and im brought to tty1. If I hit ctrl+alt+F7 I see a beige-background prompt says the usual about checking battery state, pulse audio etc., you see right before the x-server starts. According to X (if I do sudo startx) there are no displays, and the nvidia graphics driver is not working. First off, how do I set ubuntu back to the default driver (I have only a CLI right now -.-), then how do I install a more appropriate nvidia driver

• "The directory name is invalid" when trying to install drivers in Windows 7 via Device Manager

  First off, this computer is not mine, it's a customer's system. Having said that... The hard drive was moved to a new motherboard, CPU, RAM combo, and booted up fine. Customer puts in driver CD, drivers won't load. He brings it into me. Under Device Manager for Windows 7 x64, I see lots of PCI to PCI bridge, one SMBus Controller, and about 20 Unknown Devices. Greeeeeat... So I start with the SMBus driver directly from the Asus website for the motherboard (P8H77-M Pro). If I install from the setup program, it tells me to reboot, then it starts the install. It gets half way through the setup, then fails (An unknown error occurred. Setup will exit). When I try to point to the folder from Device Manager, it starts copying files for the driver, even presents me with the proper name of the device, but says that an error has occurred there as well: The directory name is invalid. Doing some Googling, I saw that many people had this issue with Vista. K, Vista and 7 are similar, maybe the solutions are the same... But they aren't. I tried: Copying the entire driver folder and setup utility to the Program Files folder and running it / selecting it in DM Downloading another set of drivers in case this one is corrupt Disabling UAC Deleting and recreating the %WINDIR%\TEMP folder Removing all references to previous hardware that I could find, even in Device Manager's hidden mode So far, nothing has worked. A wipe and reload will be out of the question

• dell latitude XT touch screen issue

  yesterday I installed windows 7 ultimate after I had the enterprise version on this machine for a few months. the installation went smoothly and everything worked fine except for the finger detection of the screen(only the pen worked) and the bottom screen buttons for rotating and so. so I started to install all the missing drivers dell recommends for this model on their site, but once I tried to install N-Trig degitizer driver the installation said it was unsuccessful and since then the touch stopped working completely! I tried system restore but it didn't help so I went on and formatted the harddisk completely once again and installed windows but that didn't work either. I tried to install the N-Trig's driver but it was alarting for a fatal error and said that no device was detected. same story with N-Trig rollback. so I checked the device manager and saw an "unknown device" with VID and PID values set as 0000. I figured the N-Trig driver might have messed with the device firmware or something and now it doesnt know it's ID and munufactor... Is there anything that can be done? like forcing the N-Trig driver to install on this device or something? please help!

• HSDPA modem only working on certain USB ports

  Depending on which USB port I use to connect my HSDPA modem, the network manager will connect to the internet or not. I used to work (i.e. established a internet connection automatically) on all ports, but over time it simply stopped on some ports. lsusb output in all cases looks like that (Device ID varies depending on USB port): Bus 001 Device 009: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E220 HSDPA Modem / E270 HSDPA/HSUPA Modem Any ideas what could cause this behaviour? What can I do to fix this? ADDED One additional information about the modem: if connected via USB it will be available as as harddrive AND as a HSDPA modem (kind of a duality...). In the error case, it will only be shown as a harddrive. • Installing unsigned x64 driver to work with libusbdotnet

  Hi all- I am currently in a Windows 7 dev. environment working to get a device to initialize with libusbdotnet. The device (a USB mass storage device) connects and runs using the default USB-MASS Storage driver for Windows. I want to replace this driver with the one created by the .INF Wizard in libusbdotnet. The operating system is a 64-bit, and by default the INF Wizard produces this driver, but I am unable to selected it because it is "unsigned" I believed, when I go to "Pick from a list of drivers" and point to the directory where the newly created device drivers are. I have enabled "TEST MODE" using DESO but I'm still unable to select this file. Anyone familiar with libusbdotnet, or directing devices to work with a specific driver that is unsigned in Window (do I need the .inf file? or the .sys???) do you have any advice about where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

  1. I want to do a reverse engineering action with the Hibernate plugin of Eclipse on a MS Access 2007 Database. I'm forced to use a existing MS Access 2007 db. A easy solution is to buy the HXTT. But I want to use a free driver to do my work. So I tried to apply this post : http://www.programmingforfuture.com/2011/06/how-to-use-ms-access-with-hibernate.html (That uses the SQL Server dialect and the driver sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver) Unfortunately I have an error that nobody seems to have been on the internet: Exception while generating code Reason : org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Error while reading primary key meta data for `c:/myaccessdb.mdb`.TableTest1 I have try to change the primary key on my MS Access DB (deleting all primary key) or to try the reverse engineering on a MS ACCESS with only one table without primary key, but I got all times the problems. 2. The purpose of my job is to transfer daily (weekly) an Oracle 11g database with data from an existing database MS ACCESS 2007. And I thought to use a procedure (Hibernate EJB) Java to be launched automatically every week to do the data transfer. Is this is the best solution ? Configuration : sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver v??? • How do I install an HP home-use printer on Windows Home Server (Windows Server 2003)

  I have an HP DeskJet F4210 printer that I would like to share on my network via Windows Home Server. Unfortunately, the driver installation checks for supported OS's, detects Home Server as Windows Server 2003 and exits. The driver install supports WinXP, W2k, Vista, and Win98SE. In theory, drivers for XP or Windows 2000 should work fine with Home Server. When using the "Install Printer" tool in Home Server I am only able to select .inf files (there are serveral on the install media) but the driver folders for XP and 2000 have .sys and .dll files. How can I bypass HP's short-sighted install program and get this printer up and running on Home server? I'll be happy with basic print functionality and will save the task of enabling scanning for another time.

  Yesterday i've installed ubuntu 11.04 (instead of 10.10). And i need to install nvidia driver which supports opengl 3.3 In 10.10 i did it in a such way: Ctrl+alt+f1 login sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop sudo sh driver.run startx Not it doesn't work. Because ctrl+alt+f1 doesn't show login screen. Just only black screen. I've googled this problem. Some people have it but no one knows how to solve. Sometimes people say that it is connected with video card or driver. But i have GeForce 9300M G, and i've activated a standard driver. Anyway, it worked in 10.10, but doesn't work now. The main problem is that i need to kill xserver to install this driver. killing the process just only restarts xserver. Also, I've tried to /etc/init.d/gdm stop in GUI-console. It says that "Fake initctl,doing nothing". Google didn't helped in this case too. Any ideas to install that driver?

• Is there a PROPRIETARY driver (NVIDIA or ATI) that actually works with 12.10?

  NOTE: I see many similar topics on this, but I've tried all their suggestions, and nothing has worked. THE MAIN DIFFERENCE SEEMS TO BE: I always get a black screen with a blinking cursor, while others seem to get through the boot-up and see distorted graphics or just their wallpaper. ISSUE: I do a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10. Boots fine with the “nouveau” graphics driver – graphics (even just menus) are very slow, choppy, and distorted. The three other driver options in Ubuntu (official NVIDIA drivers), all result in a variation of the black screen on boot up. There will be NO access to a command line/GUI in anyway what-so-ever (tried every option recommended out there, but the system is unusable at this stage). I can only reinstall, and try different drivers…and I only ever get one shot at it. QUESTIONS: -Does anyone know of a PROPRIETARY driver that will actually work on 12.10 with a NVIDIA or ATI card? -Should I just buy a newer graphics card to put in as a replacement? MORE INFO: This is my second computer, and I’m just trying to get a working install of Ubuntu on it. I don’t want to put much money into it, as I have seen Ubuntu run great on much older/less capable machines. I’ve got a decent'ish Core2Duo Intel processor (2.13Ghz), 2GB of RAM, 320GB hard drive, 32-bit architecture, and there is no other O/S installed. It appears as if the graphics card (NVIDIA Geforce 7350 LE) is holding me back. TRIED SO FAR: -all drivers available in Ubuntu *all fail -manual install of some different NVIDIA drivers *all fail -also tried installing the generic kernel, Nvidia driver doesn't work in 12.10 *no difference -tried installing 12.04 *same results -every method suggested to at least get a command line after switching to a NVIDIA driver *all fail -UPDATE- Re-tried everything above with a new NVIDIA Geforce 210...same results for everything. -UPDATE #2- Re-tried everything above with a new AMD Radeon HD 6450...installed the proprietary driver from Ubuntu's "Software Sources" menu...EVERYTHING NOW WORKS.   I have an old Dell Inspirion 3000 which came with Windows XP. It's still quite decent, 3 GHz P4, 2 GB RAM. I've installed windows 7 RTM (x86) & the best resolution it will do is 640x480 with a generic driver. It has an integrated Intel 8265G graphics card, and only PCI slots on the motherboard.   I've got a Brother Fax-8360P printer that has a standard printer port so it can be connected to my WindowsXP machine. I've found some drivers on the net that work and it is a pretty decent laser printer. However, when I try and connect up to it from my Vista machine over the network, it tells me that "The printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT4.0 drivers". Main question - is it possible to alter this so that my Vista machine will allow me to print via the network. Secondary question - does anyone know of any generic driver that will work instead?

  I'm having a complete 'mare of a time trying to use my schools Digital Blue cameras. We've got the model 3 ones, but can't find the driver disc and using the Windows Hardware Installation Wizard gets me no where! Can you help me to find the driver? When I've used it at my old school it had a piece of software called the Digital Movie Creator, which I've heard you can use to make stop-motion films, which is what I want to do! • RAID driver to choose for slipstreaming XP installation on ASUS P5S800

  I'm trying to install Windows XP on my new SATA drive but I need to first slipstream the drivers with nLite. I've done this before, but not on an ASUS P5S800 - VM motherboard. I'm not used to the number of choices it gives me for drivers in SiS chipsets. When I look through the folder that I downloaded from ASUS for the RAID driver, I see many folders with different versions of the driver. Here are the folders or versions given. 180ob 964_180 965 966_968 What drivers do I need to add in order to get XP on my SATA disk?

• Acer Aspire 3820TG video card driver issue for Windows 8 Pro

  The model for Acer laptop is ATI mobility Radeon 5650. I am using Windows 8 Pro from MSDN. It was working fine until two days ago when Microsoft pushes an update. After the update, my video card stops working and I only see black screen after loading splash screen. I can go in Safe Mode. I tried to install driver from AMD website but it failed with error message "load detection driver failed". Anyone else have the same issue? Any idea how to solve this? I need to go in Win8 for my latest development.

• ATI Driver for HP Pavilion dv2 notebook?

  I'm looking for a Windows XP Professional (32-bit) ATI video driver for an HP Pavilion dv2 (model 1118nr). I've downloaded and run several drivers packages, but none have worked so far. The notebook has a sticker on it that reads, "ATI Radeon Premium Graphics 3000 Series" The notebook has an AMD Athlon Neo 64 CPU and it came with Vista 64, but I have a requirement to run 32-bit Windows XP. Does such a driver exist, and if so, where is it? I've tried the AMD ATI graphics drivers portal, but the "Mobility Radeon" section does not list the 3000 series. The "Radeon" section does list the 3000 series, but the package I downloaded and installed from there was not helpful. I also selected "All Graphics - Notebook" on the "Search Drivers and Downloads" page, then selected "Windows XP Professional/Home" on the OS drop down, pressed "Submit", and downloaded and installed the only choice (this single choice is listed twice), but again, it didn't seem to help.

  I just upgraded memory to 4GB for Sony Vaio VGN-SZ460N laptop and trying to install Windows 7 x64. All works fine with default drivers, except video - I am not able to set resolution more than 1024x768. Technical specification says that this model is using: Chipset : Intel® 945GM Processor : NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7400 notebook graphics processing unit (GPU) and Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 I was trying to use Intel 945GM driver, for Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and get error: This computer does not meet the mininum requirements for installing the software Also, I was trying to download nVidia GeForce Go 7400 x64 but it says that there is no compatible hardware. Actually, it has disclaimer that those drivers doesn't work for Sony vaio and recomendation to use OEM website. Sony website has only 32-bit version of driver which says that it cannot be installed and x64 should be used... Any ideas?

• Broadcom bluetooth driver for Windows 7 on MacBook Pro

  I have installed Windows 7 on MacBook Pro using BootCamp. Usually when turning my Bluetooth headset on and trying to pair it with Mac for the first time, Windows would fail to install drivers and open solution in Action Center, which suggests to download the driver from the Broadcom webpage. This worked before and drivers would install and work. However now, when I start driver installer, it would get stuck at "Detecting Bluetooth Device" stage. Below the steps there is also a warning with text, which says "Please plug in or turn ob your Bluetooth device". This is how the installer looks like when it's stuck: I have tried turning my headset on/off, bringing it into pairing mode, installing/uninstalling device to/from the Bluetooth Devices. None of these worked. Any ideas?

  I've to faced kinda of missing drivers after formatted Windows .. Especially, Graphic Drivers, Touch-pad driver, finger print driver and so forth are sensitive . They do not work without installing drivers. I can even download at its official website . But some drivers are not found in the website. .. Thus, I'm looking for a solution ( may be a software ) that can backup my drivers effectively ( if it can do with schedule, it'll be great) and can restore easily locally . Espcially, for Win XP and Vista. Any suggestions will be appreciated really.
