• Re-configure Office 2007 installation unattended: Advertised components --> Local

  On our Citrix farm, I just found out that some sub-components are "Installed on 1st Use" (Advertised), which does play well on terminal servers. Not only that, but you also get a rather non-descriptive error message, when a document tried to use a component, which is "Installed on 1st Use" (described on Plan to deploy Office 2010 in a Remote Desktop Services environment): Microsoft Office cannot run this add-in. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning correctly. Please contact your system administrator. I have ~50 Citrix servers where I need to change the installation state of all Advertised components to Local, so I created an XML file like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Configuration Product="ProPlus"> <Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="no" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" /> <Logging Type="standard" Path="C:\InstallLogs" Template="MS Office 2007 Install on 1st Use(*).log" /> <Option Id="AccessWizards" State="Local" /> <Option Id="DeveloperWizards" State="Local" /> <Setting Id="Reboot" Value="NEVER" /> </Configuration> I run it with a command like this (using the appropriate paths): "[..]\setup.exe" /config ProPlus /config "[..]\Install1stUse-to-Forced.xml" According to the log file, the syntax appears to be accepted and the config file parsed: Parsing command line. Just to see if the installation state is overridden in another XML file, I ran: findstr /l /s /i "AccessWizards" *.xml Against both my installation source and "%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller", but just found DefaultState to be "Local". • Windows installation repair option not showing up

  I'm trying to repair an existing Windows XP installation. Following the instructions from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx this should work: - 1.When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD. - 2.Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen. - 3.Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. - 4.In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement. - 5.Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP. - 6.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup. On step 5 pressing R does nothing and there is nothing on the screen saying it would. When I just select to install I get a message that a previous installation is there and proceeding will destroy it and installed applications, I can optionally select a directory other than c:/windows, and I can optionally format before continuing. I had tried to go from SP2-SP3. It failed, and then I couldn't get to Safe Mode. I put the SP1 disk back in to do a repair, and I don't see that option. (I don't have an SP2 boot/install disk, I just have the non-boot upgrade package.)

  Hi, I was playing around with Drupal UC and installed a module called "Quoting / Estimate" (http://drupal.org/project/quoting), I tried to run it and got this error: **warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, 'quoting_quote_clear_page' was given in /home/ergospec/public_html/d/includes/menu.inc on line 348** Has anyone run into this problem? Second question: anyone know of a good quotation module (where customer can request a price quote, not the brackets)? It doesn't have to be in Drupal. Any help is appreciated. Murtez

• Drupal timezone information

  In my drupal installation I can get the offset from UTC in seconds to the timezone I specified in the admin panel using variable_get('date_default_timezone', 0) However, now that we have daylight-saving-time, the time I get is always off by one hour. Is there a way to retrieve the actual timezone string from Drupal, as "Europe/Berlin" for example? The reason is, that I have to use this with Zend Framework's Zend_Date, but Drupal does not set the PHP default timezone, as echo date_default_timezone_get(); gives me System/Localtime.

  I posted this on serverfault as well, but I probably asked in the wrong group. I am using the Hiawatha web server and running drupal on a FastCGI PHP server. The drupal site is using imagecache and it requires either private files or clean urls. The issue I am having with clean urls is that requests to files are being rewritten into index.php as well. My current config is: UrlToolkit { ToolkitID = drupal RequestURI exists Return Match (/files/*) Rewrite $1 Match ^/(.*) Rewrite /index.php?q=$1 } The above does not work.   Drupal propose completely different approach in web development (comparing with RoR like frameworks) and it is extremely good from development speed perspective. For example, it is quite easy to clone 90% of stackoverflow functionality using Drupal. But it has several big drawbacks: it is f''cking slow (100-400 requests per page) db structure very complicated, need at least 2 tables for easy content (entity) type, CCK fields very easy generate tons of new db tables anti-object oriented, rather aspect-oriented bad "view" layer implementation, no strange forward layouts and so on. After all this items I can say I like Drupal, but I would like something same, but more elegant and more object oriented. Probably something like http://drupy.net/ - drupal emulation on the top of django. P.S. I wrote this question not for new holy word flame, just write if you know alternative that uses something similar approach.

• Google Maps in Drupal: reference to gmap object from JavaScript

  Is there a way to obtain JavaScript references to the Google maps that are embedded into Drupal pages by the GMap module? I want to be able to manipulate the maps in these pages. I want to pan and zoom them. But I cannot find a reference to an embedded map object. I've dissected the relevant JavaScript objects Drupal.gmap and Drupal.settings.gmap with no success--unless I've overlooked something. The Drupal GMap module doesn't seem to explicitly provide references (within its API) to the GMap objects that it embeds into pages. It just generates themed text which is interpolated into the page. The technique of passing the HTML ID of the map container to either the GMap2 object constructor or the similar Drupal.gmap.getMap() function in order to obtain a map reference doesn't appear to work: Both simply return an instance to a new map, one having the same dimensions and basic characteristics of the original map, but apparently sans all of its overlays (which could contain markers). And I have to call setCenter() on it before I can use it, which initializes the structure, so I know it has no overlays.

  How in the WORLD is possible? I swear, I've read the equivalent of 3 encyclopedias to no avail. I've tried solutions within regions, page.tpl.php and blocks. None of them give me what I need... and I know there are so many other people that need this too! I've come to the conclusion that I want to print out the menu within my page.tpl.php ... so no block solutions, please. I want to be able to loop through the primary menu links (AND children) and rewrite the output so that there's no default Drupal class tagging. NOTE: I don't want the children to only appear on their parent page, they must be present all the time. Otherwise, the drop-down menu I have planned is useless. I sincerely thank you in advance to lessening my gargantuan headache!

Broadly, I can divide the tasks in following two categories: 1) Views from the website For this part, I just use the SQL query and execute it in my facebook App. 2) Create Cotent Initially, I tried this by taking the values in a form and then inserting those values into the drupal database myself. But the problem was that there are so many modules using that content. So, is there any other way to submit the contents from the facebook application to Drupal website? I tried using the Drupal for Facebook module, but didn't like its lack of flexibility and a lot of bugs.

• Make Trac use a Drupal user database for authentication

  I am trying to set up a Trac instance as a complement to a Drupal site and would like to give users the possibility to use their Drupal account in Trac, too, ideally in a single sign-on fashion (if the user is already logged into Drupal, he is automatically logged into Trac). The question now is how to accomplish this. I have found a plugin named DrupalIntegration which seems to implement that functionality; however, it is poorly documented - in fact, not documented at all. I managed to install it, but don't know how to configure it. Here is what I came up with from looking at the source code and the documentation of the AccountManager plugin (on which DrupalIntegration depends): [components] trac.web.auth.loginmodule = disabled acct_mgr.api = enabled acct_mgr.web_ui.LoginModule = enabled acct_mgr.web_ui.RegistrationModule = disabled TracDrupalIntegration.DrupalIntegration = enabled [account-manager] drupal_database = mysql://<usernam>:<password>@localhost/<db> password_store = DrupalIntegration (<username>, <password> and <db> are naturally substituted with the correct data). Has someone used the DrupalIntegration and can point out to me what I did wrong? Or is there any other approach you know (or even have used in the past) to integrate Drupal and Trac that way?

• NGINX AEGIR DRUPAL permissions 403 forbidden

  New to nginx Installed on mac os for use with aegir & drupal It's running great, but I have a problem with permissions My hostmaster installation is here : /var/aegir/hostmaster-6.x-1.7/ The hostmaster settings file here : /var/aegir/hostmaster-6.x-1.7/sites/aegir.ldev/settings.php Permissions for settings.php are set to 440 automatically by hostmaster, but I'm getting a 403 forbidden page because of this. If I give read permission to "other" the site works great (444 or even 004). Drupal is also telling me that the file system paths are not writable (sites/aegir.ldev/files & sites/aegir.ldev/private). I would have to change the permissions there too. Moreover, I would also have to change permissions for every site installed by hostmaster. Anyway. In my nginx.conf I have the following : user "myuser" _www; Owner and group for settings.php, /sites/example.ldev/files, /sites/example.ldev/private are "myuser" and "_www". Changing permissions to 004 solves this problem, but really confuses me. Why do "other" have permission and not owner or group? I've checked the processes running in activity monitor. Nginx is running as "myuser". Except for one process running as root. So I'm stumped. Hope someone can help.

  im wondering if one can/should build a site like Stackoverflow with Drupal 7? we all know what Stackoverflow is and how it looks like. users <- threads <- tags and the openid stuff, validation etc. if you are going to build a site exactly as SO, will you use Drupal 6/7 or a MVC framework like CakePHP, CodeIgniter...? try to be realistic here and think about the actual work to do and how to implement with or without Drupal, not just "Drupal has nice features you can use and extend". would be helpful. thanks!

• Connecting a django application to a drupal database?

  I have a 3 - 4000 nodes in a drupal 6 installation on mysql and want to access these data through my django application. I have used manage.py inspectdb to get a skeleton of a model structure. I guess that there are good/historical reasons for drupal's database schemes, but find that there are some hard to understand structure and that there are some challenges in applying django models on the database. Some experiences this far are: node and node revision are intertwined and I solved this by using a OneToOneField (don't need the versions). This meens that the node's body gets accessible through node.vid.body, but it works. Foreign keys need to define the proper db_column to sort out the primary keys. Terms need to use an intermediary table with ManyToManyField.through. Drupal stores both the original and the thumbnailed/resized versions of any image as files in the files table. Does anyone have experiences in accessing drupal data in django? Are there better solution to for example the node <- node revision relationship? Drupal stores time/dates as unix-style timestamps in integerfields. Any recommendations? How about time zones?

• Drupal's profile_save_profile Doesn't Work in hook_cron, When Run by the Server's cron

  I have a problem with the following implementation of hook_cron in Drupal 6.1.3. The script below runs exactly as expected: it sends a welcome letter to new members, and updates a hidden field in their profile to designate that the letter has been sent. There are no errors in the letter, all new members are accounted for, etc. The problem is that the last line -- updating the profile -- doesn't seem to work when Drupal cron is invoked by the 'real' cron on the server. When I run cron manually (such as via /admin/reports/status/run-cron) the profile fields get updated as expected. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?   When you have a slow database app, the first suggestions that people make is to: Track the slow queries Add appropriate indexes In the case you are building your own application this is very logical, but when you use a CMS like Drupal, that are people have developed and tuned, is this approach valid? I mean, aren't Drupal tables already fine-tuned for performance? Even if I try to see which queries are the slow ones, what could I do about it? Re-write Drupal core?!?

  I tried installing a trial version of SAP NetWeaver 7.1 on Windows Vista on my laptop but I couldn't succeed. Then I tried installing SAP Web Application Server 6.20.   XenServer 6.0.2 install fails no matter what I do. I have confirmed that the md5 checksum on my ISO file is good. I tried installing from a mounted ISO file (remotely via iKVM). I tried installing from physical media. I tried installing from a bootable USB stick (using syslinux + contents of the ISO) All attempts have yielded the same result: When verifying the installation media, at 0% initializing, the following is reported: "Some packages appeared to be damaged." followed by a list of pretty much all the gz2 and rpm packages. If I skip the media verification the installer proceeds and then gives me an error when it reaches "Installing from base pack" at 0% which states "An unrecoverable error has occurred. The error was: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xff in position 20710: ordinal not in range(128) Please refer to your user guide, or contact a Technical Support Representative, for further details" there is one option left which is to reboot. Apparently at some point during the processing of the repositories on the installation media non-ascii characters are found, which causes the installer to quit. How do I fix this? Only thing that I am able to do is reboot. In the bios, I tried to disable USB Legacy ( thinking the problem is with my DVD ) - did not help.

  During installation of Windows XP Professional the installer had an error which points to a bad CD, so I got another one and tried it, but the same thing happened. What can I do? It says: One of the components Windows needs to continue could not be installed.. The component is called: sys.dll D:/i386/asms/1000/msft/windows/gdiplus/gdiplus.man. I tried running chkdsk /f to fix the errors on the disk. I've searched the internet all day, and I don't know what else to do.   Hello, Im looking for some remote-installation software. I've looked briefly at unattended, opsi and a bunch of stuff, but there is nowhere near enough time to evaluate them all, and they are rather complex to setup so some insight would be very appreciated. This is foremost for windows clients, but linux support would be good. Something like apt-get would've been great. Requirements: Simple to setup and use Set up groups of users (developers, management, sales, etc) Chose which software to be installed for different groups Add new software to groups and it will be automatically installed on client Dependencies between software Nice-to-have: Linux client support OS-unattended installation thanks in advance

  How to create a customized version of an xp installation cd. I want a hand's off installation that will install all the themes, drivers , and applications I need without my intervention. How can I do that. I tried to make use of this software called Nlite. But when I tested the iso file using virtual box. The virtual box said that there's a certain file that cannot be copied. And by the way, before I customized the original iso image of windows xp sp3, it doesn't have the file copying problem that I mentioned above.

• Problems with Xen installation

  Hello, I have CentOS 5.4 installed. Now I'm trying to install Xen with out connecting to Internet (I have any driver for modem, so I search on Inernet only from Windows). All I have are 7 installation disks. First I done was to find kind of some add/remove programs wizard but it needed connection to Inernet. Second I try was to find Xen rpm on all disks and install it. But I fell on some dependency of some dependency. Third I attempted was to boot from first disk and do upgrade, but also it was unsuccessfully... So my question is: is there some way to install Xen from CentOS installation disks with out network? Thank you for ahead.
