  • Writing a mini-language with haskell, trouble with "while" statements and blocks { }

    - by Nibirue
    EDIT: problem partially solved, skip to the bottom for update. I'm writing a small language using haskell, and I've made a lot of progress, but I am having trouble implementing statements that use blocks, like "{ ... }". I've implemented support for If statements like so in my parser file: stmt = skip +++ ifstmt +++ assignment +++ whilestmt ifstmt = symbol "if" >> parens expr >>= \c -> stmt >>= \t -> symbol "else" >> stmt >>= \e -> return $ If c t e whilestmt = symbol "while" >> parens expr >>= \c -> symbol "\n" >> symbol "{" >> stmt >>= \t -> symbol "}" >> return $ While c t expr = composite +++ atomic And in the Syntax file: class PP a where pp :: Int -> a -> String instance PP Stmt where pp ind (If c t e) = indent ind ++ "if (" ++ show c ++ ") \n" ++ pp (ind + 2) t ++ indent ind ++ "else\n" ++ pp (ind + 2) e pp ind (While c t) = indent ind ++ "while (" ++ show c ++") \n" ++ "{" ++ pp (ind + 2) t ++ "}" ++ indent ind Something is wrong with the while statement, and I don't understand what. The logic seems correct, but when I run the code I get the following error: EDIT: Fixed the first problem based on the first reply, now it is not recognizing my while statment which I assume comes from this: exec :: Env -> Stmt -> Env exec env (If c t e) = exec env ( if eval env c == BoolLit True then t else e ) exec env (While c t) = exec env ( if eval env c == BoolLit True then t ) The file being read from looks like this: x = 1; c = 0; if (x < 2) c = c + 1; else ; -- SEPARATE FILES FOR EACH x = 1; c = 1; while (x < 10) { c = c * x; x = x + 1; } c I've tried to understand the error report but nothing I've tried solves the problem.

  • Why did File::Find finish short of completely traversing a large directory?

    - by Stan
    A directory exists with a total of 2,153,425 items (according to Windows folder Properties). It contains .jpg and .gif image files located within a few subdirectories. The task was to move the images into a different location while querying each file's name to retrieve some relevant info and store it elsewhere. The script that used File::Find finished at 20462 files. Out of curiosity I wrote a tiny recursive function to count the items which returned a count of 1,734,802. I suppose the difference can be accounted for by the fact that it didn't count folders, only files that passed the -f test. The problem itself can be solved differently by querying for file names first instead of traversing the directory. I'm just wondering what could've caused File::Find to finish at a small fraction of all files. The data is stored on an NTFS file system. Here is the meat of the script; I don't think including DBI stuff would be relevant since I reran the script with nothing but a counter in process_img() which returned the same number. find(\&process_img, $path_from); sub process_img { eval { return if ($_ eq "." or $_ eq ".."); ## Omitted querying and composing new paths for brevity. make_path("$path_to\\img\\$dir_area\\$dir_address\\$type"); copy($File::Find::name, "$path_to\\img\\$dir_area\\$dir_address\\$type\\$new_name"); }; if ($@) { print STDERR "eval barks: $@\n"; return } } And here is another method I used to count files: count_images($path_from); sub count_images { my $path = shift; opendir my $images, $path or die "died opening $path"; while (my $item = readdir $images) { next if $item eq '.' or $item eq '..'; $img_counter++ && next if -f "$path/$item"; count_images("$path/$item") if -d "$path/$item"; } closedir $images or die "died closing $path"; } print $img_counter;

  • whats the best way to parse and replace the string with its values ?

    - by shahjapan
    I may have string like, """Hello, %(name)s, how are you today, here is amount needed: %(partner_id.account_id.debit_amount)d """ what would be the best solution for such template may i need to combine regular expression and eval, input string may differ like $partner_id.account_id.debit_amount$ - for the moment I've kept as python string format - just for testing.

  • passing LIMIT as parameters to MySQL sproc

    - by Kyle
    I'm creating a paging class and need to pass in two parameters to my MySQL stored procedure for the LIMIT clause. I'm passing them in as INTs and trying something like this SELECT * FROM `MyTable` LIMIT MyFirstParamInt, MySecondParamInt it gives me an error when I try and save the sproc though. Is there a way to do this that I'm just missing? Or am I going to have to EVAL the whole query and EXECUTE it?

  • ASP.NET - programmatically generated delete button

    - by WedTM
    I'm trying to create a simple button that deletes a row from the database. I would like to set the ID of the control to something like delete_MATERIALID_button however, when I do this: <asp:Button ID='delete_<%# Eval("MatID") %>_button' runat="server" Text="Delete" /> I get an error that the name can't be generated like that. I know that there must be a simple solution, I just can't figure it out.

  • How do I escape backslashes in JSON?

    - by peteb
    I am using Firefox's native JSON.parse() to parse some JSON strings that include regular expressions as values, for example: var test = JSON.parse('{"regex":"/\\d+/"}'); The '\d' in the above throws an exception with JSON.parse(), but works fine when I use eval (which is what I'm trying to avoid). What I want is to preserve the '\' in the regex - is there some other JSON-friendly way to escape it?

  • Php dynamic class construction

    - by pistacchio
    Hi to all, I'm trying to avoid the use of eval. I can dynamically instantiate a class like this: class myclass {} $my_class_name = 'myclass'; $obj = new $myclass(); If the constructor is like follows: class myclass { public function __construct( $argument1, $argument2 ) {} } and i have the values of the arguments in an array, how can i dynamically instantiate the class and pass it dynamic arguments? Mind that I have no way to modify the class, so I have to work on the way of using it. Thanks

  • How do I conditionally redirect the output of a command to /dev/null?

    - by Lawrence Johnston
    I have a script. I would like to give this script a quiet mode and a verbose mode. This is the equivalent of: if $verbose then redirect="> /dev/null" fi echo "Verbose mode enabled" $redirect # This doesn't work because the redirect isn't evaluated. I'd really like a better way of doing this than writing if-elses for every statement affected. eval could work, but has obvious side effects on other variables.

  • find: missing argument to -exec in bash script

    - by Mephi_stofel
    The following works fine when I type it exactly in the command line: find /<some_path>/{epson,epson_laser,epson_inkjet} -iname "*.ppd" -exec grep "\*ModelName\:" {} \; | sed 's/.*\"\(.*\)\"/\1/' However, when I try to call the following from a bash script I get find: missing argument to -exec'. I have also tried the following (in many variants): eval find "$1" -iname "*.ppd" -exec 'bash -c grep "\*ModelName\:" "$1" | sed "s/.*\"\(.*\)\"/\1/" \; as was mentioned in find-exec-echo-missing-argument-to-exec.

  • Using functions and environments

    - by Eduardo Leoni
    Following the recent discussions here (e.g. 1, 2 ) I am now using environments in some of my code. My question is, how do I create functions that modify environments according to its arguments? For example: y <- new.env() with(y, x <- 1) f <- function(env,z) { with(env, x+z) } f(y,z=1) throws Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object 'z' not found I am using environments to keep concurrently two sets of simulations apart (without refactoring my code, which I wrote for a single set of experiments).

  • Check Avaibility of a page before loading using jquery/ajax

    - by overcomer
    Is it possible check the Accessibility of a page before loading it? I have a form, running on mobile device using wireless connection. The problem is: not always this connection is avaible and i would like to alert the user when is doing a submit or an unload of the page. The problem is that the page contains elements doing redirect like this: <input type="button" value="MyText" onClick="script1;script2;...window.location='mylocation" /> If the user click on this button and the server is not achievable, i will recive some undesiderable errors. Also if I want to generalize my script i do not know the value of "mylocation" previously. The page contains elements to submit the Form also: <input type="submit" name="SUBMIT" value="MyValue" onClick="return eval('validationForm()')" /> For the submitting I'm using the ajaxForm plugin and it works quite well. This is a snippet of code: Thanks to your answer I found the solution to the problem. That's the code: function checkConnection(u,s){ $.ajax({ url:u, cache:false, timeout:3000, error: function(jqXHR, textStatus) { alert("Request failed: " + textStatus ); }, success: function() { eval(s); } }); } $(document).ready(function() { // part of the function that checks buttons with redirect // for any input that contain a redirect on onClick attribute ("window.locarion=") $("input[type=button]").each(function(){ var script = $(this).attr("onClick"); var url = ""; var position = script.indexOf("window.location") ; if (position >= 0) { // case of redirect url = script.substring(position+17, script.lenght); url = url.split("\'")[0]; url = "\'"+url+"\'"; // that's my url script = "\""+script+"\""; // that's the complete script $(this).attr("onClick","checkConnection("+url+","+script+")"); } }); // part of the function that checks the submit buttons (using ajaxForm plugin) var is_error = false; var options = { error: function() { if (alert("Error Message")==true) { } is_error = true; }, target: window.document, replaceTarget: is_error, timeout: 3000 }; $("#myForm").ajaxForm(options); }); I hope that this will be usefull.
